Rating + 3 archgon Blu-Ray

Good service, fairly responsive but the emails weren't always clear but we got it figured out. What I received was a different part number but the hardware was the same.

The software does NOT burn Blu-Ray video, only files. You have to buy software to burn Blu-Ray video.

The option to burn Blu-Ray files does not show up on the software unless the hardware is capable. It still was kind of kludgy and could have been better.

Everything seems to be of high quality and I prefer the slot feed as it preserves disks better.

I would recommend this hardware and company to a friend.

it is advertise on newegg site as compatible with 2.5 drives. IT is not. The item came defective with loose usb 3 port which gets disconnected any time there is any air movement. Will return

Rating + 2 Great Quality, Very Poor Support

Let me say that first state that I'm partially at fault even though I was mislead by a very poor specification and an extremely poor mfg's website. Had I known all the facts up front in a trustworthy manner I would have never made the mistake of buying the expansion bay from this seller. But to be penalized with a restocking fee on top of this was totally wrong so even though this seller seems to have decent equipment, when you know what your getting I certainly wouldn't trust them again since if there is a problem I know I'm not going to be taken care of.

Rating + 4 MD-3107G-U3BDRW slim USB 3.0 Blu-ray Writer

The product was adequately described on the newegg website. The shipping time was reasonable and not delayed. The item arrived with no damage at all. I would buy from Archgon again. As for the product itself, the aluminum case gives it a nice appearance, but makes it feel slightly heavy. The product works with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. It would not work with one of my USB 2.0 ports and probably needed the aux power connector, but the aux power connector wouldn't reach to the other side of my laptop. Most of the time, you probably only need the primary USB connector and not the aux power connector. Slot-loading disks is convenient and there is no disk tray to get in the way. It appears that you cannot disassemble this product for troubleshooting. I believe that you need the included Cyberlink software to view Blu-ray movie DVDs in Windows 7 and 8. I did not try Win XP. The Cyberlink software is an older version and works fine.

After formatting a 3 TB disk I could access only 2 TB.
Emailed Charles Wang and recieved a prompt reply with info to solve problem.

the Archgon MD 3102 Blue Streak 3.0 worked fine whenreading My Microsoft office DVD to install on my new Asus Ultrabook. (Also purchased from NewEgg and working fantastically well.) However, when I tried to burn data with this new blue-ray combo read/write portable, it failed every time with any type of blank disk including Cd-R, CD-RW, DVD-r, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW. I then tried it on a second desktop computer, again the burn failed immediately. I assume on of the lasers is defective since it can read but not write. Am now on hold with New Egg to attempt exchange,return, etc. hoping they will back up products they sell. Also no instructions included except warnings in 10 languages to avoid sun, water magnets etc. NewEgg problem #2, callback system dials me but hangs up when I answer.

Here are some instructions when you failed to burn the disc.
We wish you can check following instructions below before returning.

1. Please be aware that MD-3102-U3 Blu-ray Combo is unable to burn Blu-ray disc. But it works fine to burn any DVD and CD discs. If you need to burn Blu-ray disc, you will have to purchase Blu-ray writer or writer.

2. Check if you've already installed Cyberlink Media Suite 10 (Archgon package content)correctly as a burning software, it is a suggested tool and provide more powerful burning function.

3. Burning usually requests more power and we will suggest customer connect the Y-cable well. It will ensure to drag sufficient power from computer to drive. Also, we will suggest customer stop other programs especially when burning, for example, I.E., windows media player, ...etc. You can also find a diagram regarding USB Y-cable on Archgon facebook.

4. We'll be highly appreaciated if you could let us know if there is any error messages on screen when failed to burn. It will help us to find out the problem.

Return Instruction
    1. Log onto your Newegg.com account and find your order in order history, click on 'Request RMA from Seller' Button next to the order information.
    2. On 'Compose Message Page', verify the order number you want to request return on the top of the page, choose 'RMA Inquiry' from the drop down menu, provide the item# (you can find on your order invoice e-mail) and the reason you want to return, and indicate you want to return for replacement or refund before click 'send message' button.
    3. Once our Customer Service Representatives receive your inquiry, it will take us 24 - 48 hours to respond to your inquiry.
    4. Once our Customer Service has verified your order information and approved for you to send the merchandise back to us, you will be provided with Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number for your return through e-mail.
