5 out of 5 eggsCrystal Blue Persuasion

Pros: No, this isn't a reference to Breaking Bad or Walter White's trademark product. This is a reference to the awesome looking blue backlighting on this keyboard. My second mechanical keyboard and this is definitely among the best. High quality Cherry Red MX switches that are actually much quieter than the Cherry Brown switches my previous keyboard used. The side USB 3.0 and audio ports work great, and the volume and brightness wheels add an extra touch that works great. The ability to change the logo color (when you download the drivers from Gigabyte's website) adds another nice touch. The cable that comes attached to this thing is practically indestructible and comes with every kind of connector attached to it.

Cons: In order to use the side USB 3.0 port, you have to have both ends of the USB cable plugged into your computer. If you have a motherboard with multiple USB ports that won't be a problem to you, but if you have limited or very few USB ports (like using this on a laptop for instance) then this may not be the best choice for your system.

4 out of 5 eggsI love mech keyboards

Pros: Its a mech keyboard with Cherry MX red switches and it is huge/bulky. I understand that they were going for a large intimidating design as to feel like a main part of the desk environment and it works well for them. Good switches, decent caps (nothing special), good consistent back lighting with no flickering at any level.

Cons: I bought it too soon! I don't care for reds but wanted to give this keyboard a whirl so I picked it up, used it for a year, and could never get used to reds so I gave it to my fiance after picking up a different keyboard with browns (my love). Now gigabyte seems to have released a browns version of this keyboard which I would highly recommend since I'm a browns lover.
Another con I found is that the keys have a little bit more wiggle than some other brands, not sure if this is due to the keycap not being as snug or if the switch opening is slightly larger; I may have just gotten a loose keyboard.

Overall Review: Solid keyboard (other than the slightly wigglier than normal keys) with some very nice features. The size can be a pro or a con but I put it in pros because a lot of power users want plenty of keyboarding space and this keeps everything nice and loose/open for easy typing.
More on wiggle keys- They aren't extremely loose but have noticeably more wiggle than my quickfire TK, especially on the big keys (space, shift, enter, etc) but this may have been isolated to just my board or they could have tightened their tolerances and the issue may be gone now, it is not a huge problem/hindrance but is a negative.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: First off, I love this keyboard. It has a nice build quality (Solid, heavy, sturdy, and just overall feels comfortable)

Previously I mentioned it has USB 3.0 pass-through. Well, it does and it works like a charm. However, this keyboard is really using a USB 2.0 for interfacing with the computer. The USB 3.0 is purely optional and doesn't even need to be plugged in for the keyboard to work. I'll probably go with SDub's advice and buy an adapter for PS/2 conversion. Good news is I can still keep the USB 3.0 plugged in for convenience.

Back-lighting... I can't seem to go without it. I've tried so many keyboards that don't have the back-light and at night time I just get frustrated. I really like the back-lite on this keyboard. They built the keys to where they're pitch black and only the letter shines the light through. Now, one thing that makes this back-light so great is the fact that each key has it's on LED. Previously, my other back-lit keyboards had LED's on the board where it just illuminates the entire board instead of each key. That left a lot of light bleed to happen between keys and pretty much everywhere. With each key having it's own LED on this board, you get minimal light bleed between keys and the keys show up much clearer. To top it off, there's a scroll wheel on the top of the keyboard that lets your brighten or dim to your hearts content. I love this feature because I finally have an option (a quick one too) if I ever want to dim or brighten the keys. Press down on the wheel and it will toggle the back-light on and off. Nice detailed feature IMO.

Sound... This keyboard sounds great. The pressing of the keys when you bottom out has a real solid feel. The sound when I type is almost like listening to pop-corn pop from a distance. It's definitely noticeable so don't think the keyboard is silent. However, to get to actuation on this keyboard, no sound is made. So if you are an expert typist, you can make this keyboard silent by just pressing the key down to actuation. Me, I'm a bottomer. I can't help it really. Maybe one day I will take the time to train on actuation instead of bottoming. (bottoming... that sounds bad O_o)

Accuracy... Accuracy is a major change with this keyboard vs my old dome board. To be honest, I've actually realized that by using this keyboard, I have been compensating incorrectly in the past with my old dome. What do you mean Deftonian? Well, it's kind of hard to explain but I'll try. All my life I've used a dome keyboard. Work, home, friends, family, etc all have dome. Now since a dome keyboard requires bottoming out when you press a key I had trained my fingers (without even knowing it) to begin pressing the next key in advance... actually probably the next few keys. Now, with this mechanical keyboard, I noticed I started to make a few typing mistakes because my fingers were already pushing down other keys in advance.

Cont. in Other...

Cons: None yet

Overall Review: Well, with the actuation being so small on a mechanical keyboard I was typing some words like I was dyslexic. I've since corrected that and now type with confidence and precision. It was interesting to know that a dome keyboard almost trains you to type differently. Now when I go to work, I wish I had a mechanical keyboard. They'll never get one though, I work for the state of Texas and they won’t spend tax dollars on forward tech. Another thing I noticed with typing was that I would rest my fingers on my old keyboard. Now, with the mechanical keyboard I found it's better not to rest my fingers as much. The keys are pretty easy to slide down and with the low actuation mark, resting my fingers usually meant I would accidentally press a key without knowing it.

More things I love about this board are the 5 programmable keys up at the top. Gigabyte also give you extra keys with symbols and such to replace existing keys on the board. The tool they provide is amazing to get keys off. What a breeze. Next to the back-light scroll wheel is the volume scroll wheel. While I don’t use that as much because I have CM Storm Sirus headset with it's own volume controller, I still think it's a nice addition. Same as light wheel, clicking the wheel toggles the mute.

This board also comes with a profile switch. Located at the top right is you light up Aivia logo. You can toggle between 5 profiles and each profile can alter your 5 programmable keys. This comes in handy if you play other games. Each profile has it's own color LED which will change the back-light for the Aivia logo only. The entire board only lights up blue but the profile will change colors based on which you're using.

I've noticed that I do game better on a mechanical keyboard. It seems more responsive and comfortable. I feel safer knowing each key will register and do so quickly.

I now believe the hype about mechanical keyboards. Once you go mechanical, dome’s make you maniacal.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: -Backlit
-Great Macros
-Typing felt good
-Nice and sturdy design

Cons: -Failed on me in just over a year

Overall Review: The keyboard decided to stop working just over a year after purchase. Bought on 8/12/13 if I remember correctly. First the lights started to flicker on and off, then it just quit on me. It was such a great keyboard while it worked. You would expect that a $100 keyboard would last several years. Very disappointed. If you want a keyboard that'll last, stay away from this one.

2 out of 5 eggsFantastic While it Lasted

Pros: Heavy (doesn't slide around on the desk), very comfortable, nice backlighting, heavy duty braided cable.

Cons: I really did like this keyboard a ton, and I wrote it a very positive review several months ago. Unfortunately, after two years (and outside the warranty) the keyboard has died. Everyone is quick to highlight how long the great switches in a mechanical keyboard will last. Unfortunately, that does not extend to the circuitry in the keyboard. Mine lasted 2 years, which doesn't come close to comparing with the plain dell keyboard I've been dragging around with me for 8. For the price I paid, I expect more.

Overall Review: I've swapped over to the Corsair K70. Same basic layout, price, and Cherry Reds. We'll see if it's any better.

Pros: looks nice, Cherry red is awsome

Cons: The keyboard routinely disconnects. The Aivia logo on the keyboard will not turn off but the rest of the backlighting will, rendering the keyboard unresponsive. its happen so many times already, even i unplug and reconnect again and again but still not fix

Overall Review: just hope gigabyte can fix this problem or i think this is not a good keyboard to recommend to other people since others have same issue as me

5 out of 5 eggsI love this thing!

Pros: Solid, solid, solid! This thing shouts QUALITY!
The backlighting, of course!
Volume and lighting control wheels!
USB 3, mic and headphones extension ports.
Cherry MX Red!

Cons: Nothing!

Overall Review: I wasn't sure if paying 130$ for a keyboard was really worth it, but now that I got it I'm very, very happy that I made this choice.
A friend of mine has the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate and let me tell you, that keyboard feels like a cheap piece of plastic compared to this.
I would absolutely recommend this keyboard to anyone who wants a mechanical keyboard but isn't really sure which one to get!

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The keyboard is beautiful and very easy to customize. The action when typing is responsive and the sound is satisfying without being too loud.

Cons: The keyboard routinely disconnects when gaming. The Aivia logo on the keyboard will not turn off but the rest of the backlighting will, rendering the keyboard unresponsive. This happens sporadically and although I contacted Gigabyte support about the issue they have not gotten in touch with me. If the keyboard actually worked I would have no problem rating it 5/5.

Overall Review: If the keyboard worked properly it would be perfect

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Keyboard

Pros: Tons of features

-5 macro keys, with some pretty easy to use software to implement said macros. It also comes with a key cap remover and these adorable key caps with cute little pictures on them of fire, a shield etc. etc.

-Scroll wheels for volume and LED brightness, that actually click to turn off/mute.

-Individual LED backlighting, burns with the fire of a thousand suns, at least it's that bright anyway. They are BLUE!!! this is a major feature for me. With so many companies going the red route on keyboards/mice it's getting difficult to find blue back lit mechanical keyboards that are worth it.

-Pass through usb 3.0 and gold plated audio ports for speakers/phones and mic.

-Comfortable wrist wrest. You can toss the thought of fatigue right into the abyss.

Great Mech. Switches

-Cherry MX Red switches that feel and sound like everything that's good in the world. I had heard that the red's weren't quite as good for typing, I disagree. I'm really digging them for both gaming and regular typing.

Sturdiness

-This thing is solid as a rock. The keys and board feel really sturdy. It would take someone purposely trying to destroy this keyboard to actually break something on it. Even the scroll wheels with the rubber on them feel strong.

-The rubberized feet are pretty thick and don't slip at all, once you lay this board down it is not moving in any sort of accidental fashion.

-Has one of the thickest braided cables I have ever seen on a keyboard. I could probably assault and hospitalize someone using just this cable.

Cons: They're aren't many and frankly this is going to be me being really picky trying to find stuff wrong.

-The extra key caps, there are four of them whilst the keyboard has five macro keys. Just make up another little picture and throw in an extra key cap. It looks a bit awkward having these four key caps with pictures and one of the shorter G keys.

-Toss a usb to PS/2 adapter in the box. Some people prefer the PS/2 plus if you're having usb problems, which I originally was, this will solve that issue.

-The macro keys could be positioned better, they are kind of out of the way. Putting them on the left of board you could extend your pinky to use them instead of reaching way up over the function keys.

That's pretty much all I have for con's and they are really more suggestions then cons.

Overall Review: They keyboard is perfect for me. It's my first mechanical keyboard, I upgraded from a razer lycosa(worst keyboard driver I've ever seen). Love the cherry mx red switches. Great looking keyboard, reminds me of something they would have pulled out of a futuristic tank. Like I said in my cons section there are a few convenience things that could be added but nothing that really takes away from it.

The macro keys with profiles are really handy. I use different profiles for opening frequently used programs and games as well as for one button password input :D

3 out of 5 eggsLike Many Others, Great Until It Died

Pros: -Feels super solid
-Key feel and response is great
-Utility makes it easy to program and store tons of macros
-Knobs to adjust both backlight and system volume

Cons: Like many others, this keyboard died on me after about a year and a half. Was working one day, I rebooted my desktop for something routine and then nothing worked except the Aivia light in the corner. This is apparently a very common problem. In addition, a persistent firmware bug caused the backlight to stay on, even when the system was asleep or powered off. Gigabyte kept saying an update was coming to fix this and then it never did. I will be sending this back under warranty. Hopefully the replacement stays working. Not pleased with having to pay shipping back on a product which has so many known issues.

Overall Review: Gigabyte has Aivia forums and one day, they just stopped participating in them. Lots of people having similar issues and dead silence from their support. Firmware updates also stopped coming, even though there are still numerous unsolved issues. A company of this size charging this much for a supposedly premium product should do better.

2 out of 5 eggsNightmare in a box

Pros: Great tactile feel. Looks great. Nice shape. Very little fluff.

Cons: This keyboard has given me nothing but headaches since I received it for Christmas 2012. For one, it regularly has sticky keys. This results in a flood of letters, spaces, or backspaces on your screen until you tap the button again. Secondly, it double taps a lot. As a writer, this causes typos regularly.

Tonight, for my second time, the keyboard failed on me. I booted my computer and found that nothing but the macro keys worked. I had to use an on-screen keyboard to get into my OS, and after an hour of toying around I was forced to plug in another keyboard.

$120 for this? You've got to be kidding me.

Overall Review: There are way better options out there. Skip this.

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: Have to RMA every few months.
Repeating keys. Poor customer service.

Overall Review: Had to RMA first one after 5 months, now the replacement is developing the multiple keystroke problem after 2 months. Gigabyte won't send another keyboard until I send this one back at my cost for the second time.

1 out of 5 eggsHardware Failure in Under 2 Months

Pros: The keyboard is excellent. It feels great and solid, and I loved every moment using it. It was responsive and I was very impressed with the build quality. I would recommend it to anyone for both standard computing tasks, and for gaming.

However...

Cons: The keyboard failed in less than 2 months. This is unacceptable for a premium product. The Aivia light remains on and the volume scroller works, but none of the keys work. It seems to be a prevalent problem as I browsed through the Aivia forums, with no fix except "Please contact us". I've just sent in the support request and my feedback of the keyboard will be based on the quality of their support.
So far it's been an ordeal just trying to register on their site as they require a Check number which doesn't even come with the order page or product. Apparently you must contact them with the serial number, and they'll contact you back the check number a few days later.

Overall Review: Solid, excellent keyboard.
Failed within 2 months. Seems to be a relatively common problem.
When I purchase a premium product I want it to at least last the test of time to some degree.

1 out of 5 eggsUnfortunate

Pros: Feels nice, is solid, the lights look cool.

Cons: The spacebar does not work right because it's broken. I don't think you were ever meant to take the spacebar off of the keyboard but I can because mine is semi broken. They have these little plastic pieces on the bottom of the spacebar, I can't imagine they are that durable seeing as mine is broken and they are tiny.

The real issue is that if your spacebar does break you are out of luck from Gigabyte. Their support sent me back an email saying sorry, we don't have that part available.

Can you imagine spending this much money on a device and be told you can't even buy a replacement part for it? Well I can't but apparently that is what the truth is.

Overall Review: If I had known that replacement parts were not available and that the spacebar had cheap breakable plastic pieces on the bottom of it I probably would have bought something else.

5 out of 5 eggsReplaced K90, very pleased!

Pros: + Rock solid built quality
+ Bright Blue backlighting
+ Cherry MX Red feel great
+ Volume wheel, and led adjustment
+ Extra USB 3.0 port on KB

Cons: - Not many features
- No LED colors other than blue

Overall Review: I sold my Corsair K90 (great KB, btw), and got this tank. It's a great mechanical KB with not that many features, but is built with quality. I waited several months to write this so I could see if it had flaws. None, really. Other than not being feature rich, it's a great mechanical KB, and feels great playing FPS's and typing. It comes with a good warranty too.

5 out of 5 eggsOUTSTANDING keyboard

Pros: -Dynamic Volume and Backlit illumination control, i love this feature
-USB 3.0 throughput
-CHERRY MX Red Mechanical Keys, just the perfect amount sound feedback not to loud
-Full-sized removable wrist rest
-4 additional customized keys with keycap puller, i use these for my WoW macros =D
-Anti-ghosting key-switch design, great for those heavy gaming sessions
-build like a tank will last for many years

Cons: didn't use the Ghost macro engine software - not a con never tried it out no need for it

Overall Review: Now that is what I call a keyboard. Amazing build quality, it looks sleek, it is solid and built well, and it is extremely precise. I like my gaming mice fancy and my gaming keyboards sleek and simplistic. This fits the bill to a T. No frills perfection. The keyboard is extremely solid, the Cherry red mechanical switches are very, very sensitive, and the keyboard is precise and responsive. It is also rather quiet compared to many mechanical keyboards I have seen in the past, especially if you learn not to press the keys down all the way.
If you want a perfect, built-to-last, great-looking gaming keyboard without LCD screens and robot arms, this should be your pick. It makes me cheap plastic Razer keyboard look like a joke.

5 out of 5 eggsCautious buyer - very happy.

Pros: Solid, compact. Two scroll wheels (volume/brightness) - very handy. Blue key lighting is excellent, as bright as you could want and easy to read.

A very good typing and gaming keyboard with many features that show care in design. This is a heavy, solid, and attractive keyboard that is efficient to use.

Cons: Slight metallic ping at first with the space key, but that seems to have gone away. A minor thing anyway in view of how excellent the board is.

Overall Review: I wanted a keyboard optimized for gaming (primarily FPS). Waited on getting a cherry switch keyboard until I found one with the right features. Preferred blue lighting which is easier to read imho and a volume scroll wheel.

I was concerned about the noisiness endemic to cherry switches because I am fairly sensitive to "noise". To my big surprise, although we all know cherry switches are noisy due to bottoming out, the noise does not bother - I suppose because I am involved as the typist and subconsciously using the feedback. I think it would bother others in the room though. Key noise is also not an issue at all while gaming (I think even if I did not always use a headset).

I was also very concerned that this particular board is narrower key-to-key than my standard MS board. The whole board is narrower left to right than most boards. I have had this board for almost a month, and again to my surprise, I have found this key spacing to be quite alright. With the crispness of the cherry switches the entire experience is of compact precision. Tight and pleasant.

This is a heavy, solid, and attractive keyboard that is efficient in use of desk space (I do not use the palm rest). I am very happy with this purchase.

Gigabyte has really shown care design and manufacture with this product.

Tip: Comes with extra, special graphic keys. These are taller than the regular keys and I think are meant for the "G" keys or maybe the "F" row. I use one for my "W" key. It stands a little taller which helps to find and remain based on my WASD keys without looking while gaming. Does not interfere with regular typing.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it.

Pros: High quality;
- Durable braided cable.
- Tough feeling plastic (more on this in other thoughts)
- Soft, rubber-coated keys.
- Excellent mechanical switches & layout.
- Backlighting is nice and not spotty like some backlit keyboards, with easy way to adjust.

Macro keys;
I love the placement of the macro keys on this keyboard, and for me, 5x5 is plenty, the software is the easiest I've used when it comes to creating macro's and adjusting other features of the keyboard as well.

Backlighting & Volume Adjust Wheels;
I love this feature, first time I've seen in it a keyboard and I feel it's been done well, easy to use and like the rest of the keyboard, they feel sturdy, no wobble or general cheap feeling to them.

Mechanical switches;
I haven't tried too many mechanical keyboards, but the switches used in this keyboard are by far my favorite, just the right amount of force required. No accidentally pressing keys just by resting my fingers on them like I have with other m

Cons: The few cons I have are very minor.

I wish the color of the lighting was adjustable, that seems to be a pretty common feature of backlit keyboards now, and it's definitely nice, although I like the color they used, so it doesn't bother me too much.
I knew this when I was buying it, but it'd still be a nice feature to have.

The keys are a little small compared to my old keyboard which was a little more ergonomic, but those keys were a little big, so I think it's probably pretty standard sized, and it's definitely not difficult to type on at all and it's very comfortable to use, although I still wish they were a tiny bit wider.

Overall Review: The plastic has somewhat of a texture to it that makes it feel much more sturdy - it looked smooth or rubber-coated in pictures and videos to me, so this was a little surprise, but overall I'm pleased with it, it feels like a tank.

The wrist rest is excellent and I wish more makers would put the time into including a nice wrist rest on their keyboards, once you get used to one it's hard to go without and it really limits your options.
If you're used to something more ergonomic, it may take a little getting used to as this one sits a little more flat and closer to the surface, but it's still comfortable.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Very quality build, love the volume and dimmer wheels, decent software (see cons), and just overall awesome!

Cons: Software is only accessed through a shortcut on my desktop, rather than having an icon in the system tray. Not a huge deal, but I'd rather there be an icon in the system tray down by the little clock.

Also, it'd be nice if the software detected when you started up a game and switched to that profile automatically, currently it doesn't.

Besides the minor software issues, the rest is great!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Keyboard With a Few Quirks

Pros: Adjustable lighting brightness and volume via scroll wheels is convenient. There could be a little more travel on the mute click for the volume--it would prevent accidental pressure switches.

Key action quality is great when it functions normally. It makes working on non-mechanical keyboards difficult.

Easy to remove keys, laser etching from the inside has absolved the regular wear and tear my old Saitek Eclipse II accrued. The keys are just as visible as the day I received it, and it's been almost three years since I bought it.

Cons: Goes haywire at random times. It could suddenly go into a repeating backspace or any other key at any time. My setup requires a USB extension cable, so it's entirely possible the distance may contribute to this problem. I have tried both active and non-active extension cables with no apparent change to the pattern. Thankfully it occurs only a few times per month (on average). I'll definitely be looking for this behavior when researching my next keyboard.

Occasionally the volume scroll wheel will lose the ability to control the application. Not sure where the fault lies. It happens in multiple apps, so it could be the OS keyboard driver or the software Gigabyte uses to interface with the system. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 recently and have yet to experience the problem since the update, but the frequency is low enough to justify noting the possibility in this review. It is a minor quirk.

Left-Alt key lighting went out within the first two weeks of use. Came back from the dead a few times in the first year but went permanently out after that. No other key light has gone out, and all keys continue to function aside from the problem mentioned above. Definitely a QC issue.

USB 2.0/ USB 3.0 pass-through ports have obvious lag when using a mouse on them (using a Logitech G500). It would have been nice, but I was prepared for incompatibility.

2 out of 5 eggsJust another small problem in my life

Pros: Lighting is attractive when it works
Covenient physical volume knobs are good things
Wife loves Cherry MX Red keys

Cons: Lights turn off for no reason
Keyboard disconnects for no apparent reason

Overall Review: Given all the the wife has to get frustrated about with PCs, I just don't think I should have to hear about her keyboard of all things. I don't know if there are issues with power management on the USB ports, or something in the design of the Osmium, but this thing sporadically goes dark and disconnects without visible cause. 4 out of 5 eggsGood keyboard

Pros: Does what mechanical keyboards are suppose to do. :D
Lighting is really nice and not too bright but nowhere near too dim.

Cons: FEELS cheap but its actually sturdy.
Not made as good as the corsair mechanicals i've used honestly would've preferred one of them but thought i'd give this a try still a great keyboard though.
If i plug my headset into it then it kinda glitches out and start flashing and spazzing other than that no issues.

2 out of 5 eggsRandomly disconnects also

Pros: Cherry MX red switches. Backlit LEDs. Not overly large with too many macros and/or extra keys (I prefer a more traditional keyboard layout/style - I don't like keyboards that have 20+ macro keys on the left side). USB port and audio jacks.

Cons: Same problem as Jason mentioned. The keyboard will just disconnect at seemingly random times. Sometimes it happens every 5 minutes, sometimes it will go for weeks without an issue.

Keys themselves are a tad thinner (less width from left to right) compared to other keyboards. It took a little bit to get used to typing on it.

Overall Review: Overall, I like this keyboard very much but the random disconnects just make it a huge pain to work with.

1 out of 5 eggsSudden smokey death

Pros: This was a very nice keyboard while it lasted

Cons: It died after 9 months. The backlights just turned off, the keys stopped responding and I started to smell smoke coming from the keyboard.

Overall Review: There are plenty of bad reviews on this here and I ignored that because this keyboard had exactly what I wanted in a keyboard. Should have listened to my gut.

4 out of 5 eggsSo Far, So Good.

Pros: Bright backlights, excellent response time, comfortable feel, love the volume/brightness controls, audio and USB inputs are great, and the handrest is plastic so it doesn't attract dirt and dust like the other rubber/foam handrests on other brands of keyboards.

Cons: Opened the box and noticed the shift key and 0 key on the numpad were detached. Probably an issue with shipping, but the keys were a PAIN to get back on. The stabilizer bars underneath the longer length keys are really cheap and kept popping off as I was trying to put the keys back on. Needed to use a paperclip in order to get the keys back on correctly.

Overall Review: Great keyboard, but I'm not looking forward to cleaning this in the future :/

3 out of 5 eggsugh...

Pros: this key board feels amazing and your typing really does pick up, the lights are beautiful, the usb 3.0 works great the software is so so...

Cons: one of the main reasons i bought this board was for the usb ports, my wireless mouse has some issues with the distance and theres a lovely usb 2.0 port that sorta looks like its for that... to bad this port doesnt work whener i plug anything into the board does this lovely im going to work... nah im not going to work wait im going to work, unfortunatly i dont want to waist my time or effort with returns. lets just hope nothing else goes wrong :(

Overall Review: i absolutely love gigabyte products there the other mobo i ever buy because ive never had a single problem with them and if the bad usb 2.0 port is my only problem with this keyboard for the next 10 years ill be happy but im going to be hyper critical with this board over the next 30 days and will update my post

2 out of 5 eggs2 days in and already having serious problems

Pros: This keyboard looks, and feels amazing, I instantly picked up another 4wpm typing when I started using this board. The LEDS are quite bright, and even look pretty good when illumination is turned down quite a bit. If this board would stay in working order, it would be a very strong 5 out of 5.

Cons: The only cons with this keyboard are very serious. I've been using it for 2 days, and once a day, this board has completely quit working. I will be in the middle of typing or playing a game, and whatever key I'm pressing at the time sticks, the board goes completely unresponsive, and I have to unplug/replug the board several times before it finally comes back up. When this happens, the Aivia logo lights up, but no other keys do, until it finally starts working again.

I have had this happen with USB 3.0 passthrough, audio jacks and regular UBS plug plugged in, and the most recent time, it was only the keyboards USB cable plugged in.

Overall Review: This keyboard is amazing as far as looks and feel, but for over $100 for a keyboard, especially from such a large company, I am totally blown away that I'm having issues straight out of the gate.
I contacted Gigabyte support, and their only answer, was to test on another system, and then contact my vendor (newegg) for a replacement.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat K Board - bad software

Pros: excellent feel, The switches are great. Lighting makes the keys easy to read and is crisp. Overall construction is top notch.

Cons: ok where to begin.... After about 1 week the back;lighting started randomly blinking (I would later find out that when the backlitghs blinked the keyboard was turning off and on!). The macros while easy to set up for 1 key (not the 70 macros per key - but 1 macro per 1 key), they would not stay in memory for more than a day or two (I do not shut my machine down so it wasnt a reboot issue). Then finally the "blinking" became more frequent - when this happened either the last key I typed would get "stuck" and I would have a row of whatever letter I last typed, or... I would be missing the letters I typed during the "Blink".... Then the whole machine would freeze for a split second! All this went away as soon as I uninstalled the ghost software and replaced the keyboard.

Overall Review: This was my first dedicated "gaming" keyboard I have purchased and I am sorely disappointed in its performance. As a keyboard it is really built well and has excellent fell. I really wished the software was up to par. I will check Gygabite website now and again hoping for an update release that fixes these issues. Meanwhile.... back to my Logitech keyboard.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: First off, I love this keyboard. Everything about it is fantastic imo. The cherry mx red switches are perfect for me, the macro controls and programming are effective and relatively easy to use. I frequently use the usb 3 throughput as it is a lot quicker to get at than my pc case. I think this is a great buy for the price. Having said that, it has some problems.

Cons: The location of the usb3 port, headphone, and mic jacks on the right side of the keyboard is annoying. My mouse sits directly to the right of the keyboard and if i plug anything in there i tend to bump them while using my mouse.

For someone who has never used macros before i found the ghost program a bit difficult to navigate at first. I'm now used to it and have no problems but it feels like it could have been done a bit better.

The real problem I'm having and the reason for this review is that my keyboard is, as far as i can tell, randomly becoming unresponsive. at first it only happened maybe one a week, now its happening 2-3 time a day. Its easly fixed, all i have to do is unplug the keyboard, wait for windows to recognize its disconnected, then plug it back in and it works again. It wasnt a big problem at first but with the frequency increasing, i fear i may need a new keyboard soon.

Overall Review: I'm not sure if this is a problem or not but sometimes when i shutdown my computer the big backlit aivia button stay on.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard, questionable software

Pros: Great keys. USB 3.0 and other features work great.

Cons: The legs on the keyboard fold too easily. I'm always adjusting the keyboard on my desk and when I push it forward the legs collapse. Very annoying.

There is no Windows key on the right hand side so I cannot "Windows Key" + L to quickly lock my computer and for some reason the left "Windows Key" + L does not always work.

There is some bug between this keyboard and Oracle Virtualbox (I have a ticket open with Oracle) that if you hold down the left ctrl button for more than 5 seconds it will lock up the VM

Overall Review: The software that you can download from GIGABYTE's website is triggering trojan warnings on VirusTotal. I will not install it until they release one that passes green.

Other than that I love the keyboard!

3 out of 5 eggsBad omen?

Pros: Ordered on wednesday and was delivered the next day!
The KB was recognized upon plug-in (XP) and was working perfectly. I find that the keys are not as noisy as a Black Widow. Feels solid and confortable.

Cons: In the next three hours after I plugged it, all I did was use Outlook and read Word documents onscreen. I was using the down arrow key to scroll down when suddenly it stopped working. No backlit, no typing, dead! Only the Aivia LED was breathing as normal. Did a restart of the PC and it came back to life.

Overall Review: Now, I'm not sure what to do. Should I return it? Will it be ok if I keep it? I will always have a doubt. So many people have reported a similar problem, it would seem that Gigabyte should have found the cure?

1 out of 5 eggsLooks can be Deceiving

Pros: Looks great, customizable logo backlit, Aivia Ghost program works, comes with key puller, and the palm rest is extremely comfortable, cherry mx red switches are a joy to type on. Gold plated usb 3.0 connectors and mic in/headphone jacks are a definite plus.

Cons: The keyboard was given the best care and yet it refused to work after two weeks of moderate usage. I woke up one day to find out that only the macro keys were working, and I was not able to type on the keyboard at all. None of the keys were registering. The backlit on the keys refused to light--only the logo continued to illuminate.

Thinking it was my computer and the Aivia Ghost software Gigabyte recommends installing, I tried installing the keyboard on 4 other computers and I had the same problem. The keyboard just refused to work on any of the systems running Windows 7 64bit after driver installation was finished.

Ladies and Gents, for such a pricey piece of equipment you would expect it to work for more than 2 weeks. This unit needs some serious quality testing by Gigabyte. If the unit hadn't just died on me this would have easily attained a 5 star review.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great...for a while.

Pros: Keyboard is very responsive and has great feel. Very solid, built like a tank.

Cons: Unreliable

Overall Review: Have owned the keyboard for about 3 months. Worked great while it worked. Now suddenly some keys are unresponsive randomly. At times the whole keyboard becomes unresponsive and the only way to fix is to reboot. After reboot other keys are unresponsive. The left control key appears to randomly cause multiple keypresses of random keys. I have placed a ticket to Gigabyte support but so far (after 3 days) have not received any response at all.

2 out of 5 eggsNot the experience I hoped for

Pros: First experience with mechanical keyboard. Just amazing. Wouldn't go back if I had the choice. The backlight is crazy bright, and there's an option to dim or turn off if you'd like.

I'm sure the macro utility is worthwhile, but I never found any reason to play with it.

Cons: Had similar issue as several 1 egg reviews. Keyboard backlight flickers. When the backlight goes out, keyboard is unresponsive. In the bios and running ubuntu, no issues at all. Win 7 ultimate, even after a full format and fresh install is plagued by this issue.

Overall Review: Started the rma process. Like with others, the gigabyte support personnel left something to be desired in our exchange and promptly recommended rma. We'll see how that turns out... but when this keyboard was working, it was awesome.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid, responsive keyboard

Pros: Solid and hefty with more back light than you'll ever need for the keys, simple on board controls.

Cons: bit of noise off the keys, but not terribly much more than other keyboards I've had. Space bar is a pinch squishy on the thumb from the left side (when using wasd). but still better than my last keyboard

Overall Review: It's been many years since I've had a mechanical keyboard, but this one is slick. They keys have a light, but firm stroke to them. I was worried about how the longer stroke on the keys (2mm I believe), but they keys are responsive and clean enough feeling that it's not a problem at all.
My only issue is that from the extreme left side, the space bar is a bit squishy (while playing wasd games). But that's a relative observation to the other keys. It's still leaps and bounds better than my last keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Action

Pros: So far, everything is lovable about this keyboard. It may not actually be made of osmium, but the substantial weight of it suggests sturdiness and longevity. The easily dimmable blue LED lighting looks fantastic, and this one of few keyboards I've ever come across with a genuinely solid and comfortable palm rest. A USB 3.0 extension makes for a handy bonus. I don't use the audio jacks, but those could be pretty handy, too.

What I like the best about the Osmium is that it's sort of just right. All the keys are mechanical, the key layout is completely normal, the macro keys are simple to program, and the design is tough looking, yet tasteful and devoid of ridiculous gimmicks and novelties. What's the old advertising cliche... everything you want, nothing you don't?

The key action is crisp. I love it. Though they take some getting used to, the Cherry Reds are every bit as gratifying to peck around on as the spring loaded keyboards I'm more familiar with. I haven't tried the other Cherry switches, but surely they're all just as excellent.

Cons: The Cherry Reds aren't for everybody. While the key action is superb, it's very smooth and very quick. As a result, they send little feedback prior to bottoming out, which makes for an unusual typing experience. Having had some practice, I'm fairly used to it and have grown to enjoy it- a lot. I wouldn't dare trade it for any non-mechanical keyboard, but I might possibly trade it for a board with clickier mechanical switches if I was a typist exclusively. For gaming and general hotkeying, the Reds seem to be approaching perfection.

Can't speak much to the Osmium's anti-ghosting capabilities; haven't tested it so thoroughly. Ctl+alt+del works, so that's a plus.

Overall Review: I was leery of the Cherry Reds initially because I enjoy typing and they aren't the ideal typists switches. On the other hand, I mostly work with audio applications where quick, reliable hotkey presses can save a lot of time, so the Reds seemed to fit the bill. There are a number of different mechanical switches to choose from, and probably most of us who are new to mechanical keyboards will have dubiously made our selection based on descriptions found across the web. Demoing them in person is a good idea if you're unsure about your needs.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for the most part.

Pros: Love the sound it makes while typing. It might be considered loud to others but I personally like it. It feels fantastic while typing and I love the blue color. I like the placement of all the keys, and the option for usb3 is pretty cool. It also comes with a key removal tool along with 4 optional customized keycaps you can replace any key with!

Cons: Like many have stated, I have been having the issue where it randomly disconnects and becomes unresponsive. But I have just contacted their customer support to either get a fix or a new keyboard, whichever they can do.

Overall Review: Aside from the disconnecting issue. I LOVE this thing. I havent even gotten to use the macros yet but the interface for their macro setup looks pretty easy to use. If not for the disconnecting, an EASY 5/5!!!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Solid Board

Pros: 1. Very sturdy and high quality build.

2. I personally love the choice of Cherry Red switches on the Board.

3. While some may prefer more, there are 5 macro keys that can also be switched to media keys via the downloadable software.

4. The brightness of the back lighting as well as the sound of your speakers etc. can be adjusted or plain turned off.

5. May be important to note to some that it is a full size keyboard and includes the num pad.

Cons: 1. The only con that I can honestly note was pointed out to me by a user on Anandtech.com. You cannot simply turn off the breathing logo at the top right of the keyboard. Personally, I think it's cool as heck anyway. It changes from blue to green:)

Pros: High quality keyboard. No frills. Solid construction. Easy to use and set up.

Cons: The keyboard is light on features. It is very basic for the money but I feel the construction offsets this con.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: I have been enjoying this keyboard a lot. It is my first mechanical keyboard purchase, and I am glad I made this my first. This keyboard had all of the features I wanted, back-lit keys, all mechanical, USB 2.0 (and 3.0!), audio ports, and back light controls.

I would recommend this to anyone needing a mechanical keyboard.

Cons: None so far, perhaps price, but I think the quality and features more than justify the price.

Overall Review: I am so impressed by this Gigabyte keyboard that I have purchased the Gigabyte Krypton gaming mouse!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsSimply worth it.

Pros: Looking to upgrade from my Logitech Wave (Which was awsome by the way) I knew what I wanted, Backlit, Mechanical switches, some macro keys (Most beloved and potentially non existent benevolent being knows I don't need 15 of the things) and a nice feel.
Well, the Osmium has delivered everything I wanted.
By the way when they say that this feels solid under your touch, they mean you will not break it, it will not move and you now have lethal weapon, both fragging in BF3 and Smashing up some prowlers.
This keyboard is beautiful in its own way but the little extras really help as well. Although i have not used the USB 3.0 passthrough as my computer is old, the USB 2 is very useful for Thumb drives and USB wireless headset (The recharge cable).
I live in Australia but love NewEgg, I highly recommend this keyboard, price is no impediment on this one.

Cons: Cannot change the Backlit LED colour.
All good, I like Blue. :P

Macro software initially confusing, stick with it, it is very useful.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: -Braided cable
-Keyboard is VERY sturdy and does not move easily due it its weight. (It is heavy)
-Great consistent adjustable illumination across all keys.
-First time on a mechanical keyboard and was expecting loud clicks on keypress however the noise is not loud at all, it seems 'just right'
-Software for programming macros is easy and straightforward.
-Basically just well made and well designed. Purchased after reading review on guru3d which answers most questions.

Cons: Not really Cons since I cannot find really any big annoyances.

-It does have separate media keys (play/pause,stop,back,fwd) that are shared with F1-F4 but to activate you must hit the fn key + desired function.

-WASD back-light color cannot be changed.

-Software could use some polishing.

Overall Review: This is my second one of these. The first I bought on release, but it didn't like the half bottle of dark beer spilled into it 2 days ago.

I am coming from a 2 year old Logitech G110 and must say this keyboard is very good. I spent a long time looking for a good mechanical replacement and there were always shortcomings in reviews except for this one.

My G110 was grimey after two years but after tearing this one apart it seems very easy to clean if you need to.

I liked it so much I spent 30$ to have it overnight-ed when other one failed due to the beer.

-Cheers

5 out of 5 eggsNe expense spared

Pros: -Built like a tank
-Quiet compared to the keyboard it replaced (Razer BlackWidow Ultimate)
-Matte; not a fingerprint magnet
-Nothing about the keyboard or packaging feels cheap; My fiance stole the box so she can use it as a gift box.

Cons: -I'm not a big fan of the position of the macro keys, YMMV
-Macro software is a little buggy
-Not cheap, but you get what you pay for

Overall Review: Probably the nicest feeling, most sturdy keyboard I've ever owned, and I've been through a lot. The volume and brightness wheels are awesome, they should be standard on every keyboard. I like it so much I'm going to buy another one for work (I'm a programmer, so lots of typing).

5 out of 5 eggsbest keyboard ever

Pros: I did not know that a keyboard this good was possible. A pleasure to press the keys, for work or gaming.

Cons: pricey, but this is one where you get what you pay for.

Overall Review: Given all the money we spend in garbage, this is well worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsThe search is over.

Pros: Has all the bell and whistles I been looking for.
-backlight keys, burns bright blue in the dark. can be adjusted with convienient flywheel config.
-super sturdy construction. black matte finish and great feel to the keyboard
-corded cables and gold plated ends
-wrist support
-on the fly macro settings for different games or characters. pressing the aivia button changes colors to match your different profiles
-extra keys for mmorpg games, shield, spell, sword symbols
-3.0 usb support!!
-great tactile feel to the keys. it flys in your hands and definitely feel a difference in typing. Alot faster.

Cons: Price-Only thing worth complaining about. I know it just came out and its priced reasonably for blacklit mechanical keyboards. Still worth it cuz it will last forever. I hope this is the last keyboad I ever buy. Until they invent some goggles or 3d imaging system.

Overall Review: I been waiting for a keyboard that has blue lights to match my system. I was looking at the Mionix which looks about the same as this one without the flywheels. I am very happy with this keyboard so far and I hope it lasts forever.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard is well build, even the plastic, detachable wrist guard is well built. There are four feet, two in the normal place , and two more for use with the wrist guard. Comes with a USB 3.0 pass thru, backwards compatible. You can turn lower the lighting or turn it off completely using the dial, etc. Key puller and 4 extra keys included.

Cons: The one page instructions, do not tell you everything, like how to disable the Windows Key (you disable it by a key on the lower right side next to the right function key). No pre-made macro for games yet to be posted on keyboard webpage.

Overall Review: My g-d, the keyboard is packed in a box, completely cushioned by foam, which told me from the start that they care about the product, and that it gets to the consumer in prime condition. I am completely satisfied with the keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsI made the right choice

Pros: I've been using the Logitech Dinovo until now for my main desk PC. Wireless wasn't necessary and I've fallen in love with the gaming keyboard trends lately. This one was the right one to wait for.

Nice beefy cables, USB3, including the hub. I LOVE the 2 scroller wheels for volume and brightness. genius. You can press both scroller wheels. The volume scroller btn mutes on press and the brightness dial button turns off the key backlight. An aside, the scroller wheels are backlit too!

It's working fine out of the box, no drivers Win 7 64b. I'll get to the macro keys eventually, but they weren't a selling point for me. The wrist rest is nice, but I probably won't use it. I think it encourages me to put my hands down, which I don't think is ergonomically helpful.

I don't have USB 3.0 set up on my PC yet but that's no problem it can still be used just fine, the cable has both 2 and 3 USB. I only have the one cable in. Pressing a ton of keys simultaneously seems to all regist

Cons: No cons so far, except I'm still getting used to this keyboard having actual height to it. My Dinovo is flat as can be. But this thing types great. I think the Cherry Red switches were a good choice. I know people prefer other switches and would be put off, but red is fairly quiet and externally, probably less annoying. 8

Overall Review: I recommend this keyboard if you've been waiting on getting a gaming keyboard. Seems like all the keyboards in this class have a different set of bells and whistles. This one just happened to be the one that had them all for me correctly. The Corsairs have some good features, the Razors. This one being USB 3 with USB hub(s) and backlit with a nice braided cable had me sold. Small detail, but I really just wanted a normal typeface used on the keys too. This font is just normal sans-serif, not trying to show off or be techy.

The only way this keyboard could be made any better probably is if they had multiple light colors on the keyboard itself. Or maybe just white or yellow instead of the blue. The blue is fine just sort of a gimmicky color in a way. With that said, I love having backlight.

I probably won't use the extra keys they provided, but it's a nice addition. If you get this I think you'll be happy. I'm glad I acted quick on the newegg stock alert.

2 out of 5 eggsshutsdown randomly

Pros: works great, when it works..

Cons: like mentioned before For whatever reason, at completely random times, the backlighting will flicker, and the keyboard will become unresponsive. Only the Aivia light stays on the rest of the keys shutdown.. keys are not responsive. the keyboard has to be unplugged and reconnected for the keyboard to work again.. this is really really annoying if in the middle of a game or other keyboard intensive task. This has to be a firmware bug that has to be corrected ASAP by gigabyte..

Overall Review: fix firmware bugs.. keyboard used mainly for work(programming), some gaming

Pros: It's nice, when it works.

Cons: For whatever reason, at completely random times, the backlighting will flicker, and the keyboard will become unresponsive. During this time Windows makes no notification of it coming unplugged, but won't acknowledge the keys. I've tried this on two different PC's and it still does it.

Another issue it has is the keys will sometimes act like they're getting stuck. I'll hit an A and it will just go on like "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" until I hit it again. Really annoying inside a game, or when I'm typing and the backspace key gets stuck.

It's out of newegg's warranty period and I can't figure out how to contact Gigabyte to replace it.

Pros: Types...pretty lights....that's all folks.

Cons: Forget support from the forum....have to have "Force Status"
Which I can not upgrade my account from schmuck status.

Gives a link with a customer case number...seems good until the link they provide is broken...really.

Should never have passed over Logitec...they never failed me.

Overall Review: Buy from an established company with a strong history of backing up their products.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat!... pending issues that Gigabyte must fix

Pros: matte finish
variable backlight
quality construction
usb 3.0 pass through

Cons: randomly disconnects.
usb 3.0 issues
sometimes acts like it has a stuck key
limited to MX Cherry red

Overall Review: I love this keyboard aside from three issues I seem to be experiencing:
1.The keyboard routinely disconnects. The back-lights flash on and off and the keys are unresponsive when this happens. So far I have been unplugging and reconnecting it to get it to work again.
2. A few times the keyboard acts like it has a stuck key. For example: as I am typing it will start repeating the same character aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and so forth without me touching the keyboard.
3. The usb 3.0 port randomly fails. If I have a usb 3.0 flash drive connected to it and proceed to copy a large volume of files it starts to copy and then shortly (think 2-4mins) after fails to recognize the drive thus stopping the transfer. If I then use the USB 3.0 port on my case all is well and I experience no such issues with the same flash drive.

IF Gigabyte would fix these issues I would not hesitate to give it the highest possible recommendation.

**I should also mention that it would be nice to have an option of MX Cherry keys and not be limited to red.

5 out of 5 eggsHight quality, better choose then blackwidow

Pros: This keyboard is one big PROs

Cons: none

Overall Review: Only one backlite color but is not con bcs this doesn't bother.
This is high quality keyboard. I was thinking few weeks what to chose. This or razer blackwiodow 2013. Thanks Good i choose this one. For this price you can have keyboard with much more keys, tuch screen, gadgets ... but low quality, shaking keys, cheep plastic . This keyboard doesnt have that much gadgets but is focused on quality not gadgets. I dont need/use all keys even if im playing so this keyboard is one of best choose. If you have same problem like me choosing blackwidow or this - choose this. You will be happy. Also is red cherry key switch, razer have blue. Dont have to press full down key - its like touch screen and this beautiful sound while pressing key. Love it! Backlite is amazing. Dont need light while playing at night. Now i will be more focused on gigabyte products and soon ill try thier mice and other products. Already owned hd 7970 and thank you to being in market.

5 out of 5 eggsExcelent Purchase

Pros: First: great job overall!

I had been using a Saitek Eclipse II for the last couple of years because I liked the backlighted keys for gaming. I had recently been noticing, however, that certain key combos in newer games were not working. Also, in newer games, my enter key, below the number keys, did not always work. Now, that I have this keyboard, I additionally realize that my keyboard response had been lagging.

I bought this Gigabyte AiVia keyboard for five reasons:

(1) the mechnical switches for the keys were reputed to be fast.

(2) The anti-ghosting was reputed to be good.

(3) The backlighting, though blue only, looked like I might like it (especially bedcause of the brightness and individual key lighting).

(4) The "click" noise from the keys was reputed to be not a problem.

(5) I like where the adjustment wheels are located to adjust system volume and keyboard lighting (VERY handy!).

Here is what I have found in my first day of use:

(1) This keyboard is fast. When I push keys, the game/program gets the keystroke right away. I am getting better movement and kills in games, and better typing in general.

(2) The anti-ghosting seems to work. In the heat of battle, when I am pushing multiple keys at once, this keyboard seems to capture everything and send it to the game, either as the combos I had intended, or as the individual keystrokes I had intended.

(3) The backlighting is much better than I was accustomed to. It can be very BRIGHT behind every key. Or it can be smoothly dimmed from the adjustment wheel. Note that the NUM LOCK key display does not dim with the rest of the keyboard. I felt miffed about this at first. But, really, I turn NUM LOCK to OFF for regular usage thus far and am satisfied.

(4) The clicks are (a) VERY easy on the ears, and (b) good feedback even when just typing, like now, as I am writing this.

(5) The adjustment wheels for the backlighting and sound are sensitive and VERY good. I can adjust system sound and keyboard brightness VERY easily and responsively with these adjustment wheels.

Cons: Two things are enigmas. One is the AiVia logo above the number keys. It brightens and fades, like it is breathing. It is not distracting. I might like to turn that effect off. But, then, I find that it really does not bother me while gaming (and I'm picky). Maybe in a way, it's sort of cool. Two, one of the profiles that you can set in the software shows red back-lit keys. I have not worked thrugh the profile settings yet, but I am sure at this point that red is not an option. So, it's confusing that it's in there.

Overall Review: In sum, I love this keyboard! Great purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick Follow-up

Pros: This is just a quick follow-up on my first review, I forgot to mention what may be important to some or many. Once you download the Ghost Software from Gigabyte website and setup your Macro's, this keyboard also carries it's own memory chips, meaning you only have to download and use the Ghost Software on one computer. Setup your Macro's and it's now in the keyboard. Another very nice and convenient feature, if you use it on one or more computers, or take it on the go somewhere, your Macro's are saved into the Keyboards memory :)

Cons: None at all :)

Overall Review: Just connected my second one in the other room and like the first one, no problems at all. Seriously, this is an Awesome Keyboard, I highly recommend it!! My only issue is still that my (IOGear) KVM switches don't see it in the emulation USB, so I do lose the shortcut key switching but, at least the regular USB ports on the KVM's still allow me to share it between two, just have to get used to manually swithching via the front panel on the KVM's. Not the end of the world :)

5 out of 5 eggsNearly 4 1/2 years and going strong

Pros: Reliable
Responsive
Easy to type on
NO key fading or signs of wear after years of hard use
Survived having coffee dumped into it after having dried out. Basic cleaning and a bit of oil in the key switches solved the problem of it being sticky.

Cons: Does not work well with AMD USB 3.0 ports. Frequent ghosting issues when using these ports. Using USB 2.0 ports instead solves the problem.
The gaming G keys are kind of awkwardly located. It'd be better if they were on the left hand side.

Overall Review: Not sure if they still make this wonderful keyboard. The selection of quality mechanical keyboards has dramatically expanded in the last few years, but this was and is a quality product. I wear out most keyboards within a couple of years, but this one just keeps kicking.

5 out of 5 eggsBest keyboard I've ever owned.

Pros: - Still working flawlessly after 3 and half years.
- Absurdly durable, it's a brick of a keyboard.
- Adjustable LED brightness.
- Built-in USB ports.

Cons: - Price obviously, it's one of the most expensive consumer keyboards that exists.
- Has a lot of reported electrical failures, you roll the dice on a good/bad one as with all PC hardware. (Mine was a good one.)

Overall Review: I got the cherry red switches variant, and I can no longer go back to the cheap garbage keyboards of old. I will say this is the best keyboard I've ever owned.

2 out of 5 eggsBroke After a Year

Pros: The keyboard is great to type on, and well made mechanically. The backlight works well, and is easily adjustable. The USB passthrough works well and is convenient.

Cons: The keyboard stopped working in the middle of a gaming session. The backlight no longer turns on, and the keys no longer function. I left the room to grab some laundry, and when I returned the keyboard no longer functioned. I believe I have the same electric issues that a few of the other reviews mention. I can smell a little bit of smoke near the USB port, but I was out of the room when it happened.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat product, Horrible reliability

Pros: I picked this keyboard because of the great features, adjustable LED back-lighting, great key feel and action, good ergonomics, and the USB 2.0 passthrough. When working, the keyboard performs wonderfully, hours of continuous gameplay with very little wrist strain and the back-lit LED can be adjusted for serious over-night play in low light.

Cons: Over the course of the 2 year warranty, I've had three keyboards fail. My warranty has finally expired, and frankly I'm just tired of paying $15-20 bucks per RMA to ship their defective product back to them. The product features are great, but they have a problem with the USB2.0 hub in the keyboard. Each of my failures had the smell of burnt electronics from the upper right area where the USB port is, and in two of the cases I could see visible smoke come out of the USB pass-through port. I've since bought a competitor's product.

Overall Review: Great overall features and design, but horrible failure rate due to defective USB hub. Sad to say, but don't waste your time or money.

1 out of 5 eggsGood keyboard, but pray you don't need help from their eSupport.

Pros: Very good keyboard. I love the feel, ergonomics, and performance that I got with the purchase. However, for the money, you'd have to expect it.

Cons: I lost a key (Z key), and not sure what happened to it. It may have gone into the vacuum while cleaning my office. I submitted a ticket to see if you can get a replacement. They asked me to contact service department by email to see if they have any parts.

Three emails, and 3 months later, NO RESPONSE. So I sent another ticket, asking if it was possible to get a new Key for the keyboard. 5 days later a short email saying basically, I'm you know what OUT OF LUCK.

What is the point of spending what I'd consider a lot of money for a good keyboard, and they can't help you fix it? I compare this to buying a Corvette, and not being able to change the oil in the darn thing.

The lack of timeliness of response, and apparent lack of concern at all, make me caution all of you looking to buy this, or any Gigabyte product.

Now, to be fair, I still have another ticket open with this company, to hopefully talk to someone who won't mind spending more than 15 seconds to remedy my issue. I will update this review, as I get it updated.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard, but deader than MJ

Pros: Keys feel great
Nice blue LED lights
Detachable wrist rest
Braided cables
Sound and Light scroll wheels

Cons: Somewhat noisy(cherry red Keys)
A bit too bulky for my gaming desk
THE KEYBOARD DIED FOR NO REASON; the keys light up but non are functioning besides the scroll wheels. To think this keyboard cost me &$139.47.

Overall Review: Good keyboard but for the price there are better keyboards that are more durable.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat until it died

Pros: Solid build, great to type on. Massive cord, USB 3 port, lots of nice features. Got a few months of use out of it.

Cons: Awesome until it stopped working randomly. Now the profile button lights up, but none of the keys light up and the keyboard doesn't register anything. No way to update the firmware.

Overall Review: From a great keyboard to a large paperweight.

1 out of 5 eggsDecent keyboard but......

Pros: The construction of the keyboard is solid. Keys work great. I love the heavy feel it don't slide around on my desk.

Cons: Only a few days after the 2 year warranty runs out its started turning on and off randomly then it went up in a big puff off blue smoke from under the profile select button.... oky no problem ive had it for a while and used it a lot I got to there web site to check out warranty information get no where cause there site claims the s/n does exist. So I get my new one hook it up the software will not recognize the new board so cant use any of the macro keys setting ect...
I go to there web site which they send you to a message board for technical support tried to register cause it says my old account don't exist. So I register got the page saying I need a email to verify well the email never come ive request multiable times so I can get in and get some help with the software.

Overall Review: I think it s a decent keyboard, but the customer service is non existent. Seam from what I can see of their forms they have had a lot of problems with the software......

5 out of 5 eggsThe Work Horse Finally Broke.

Pros: It took me 3.5 years to break this keyboard. I loved the keyboard button removal tool they included. The key illumination never stop working on any of the keys. When adjusting the brightness on the keyboard please make note of temporarily blindness. The keyboard shines brighter than one-thousand suns. The macro buttons where placed in the most convenient location. It has very sturdy keys even after face smashing game rages. This keyboard will be the standard for buying my next keyboard ( or perhaps ill just another one! )

Cons: I almost knocked off 1 egg because of this keyboards downfall. I dub it a " Ozzy Osbourne" death. Like all the crazy Substances he has done and not died from, he will probably die from something simple. Like Ozzy I have done some crazy things to this keyboard. Extreme drops ( don't ask why), extreme colds, and extreme hots. The keyboards downfall was 1 Tablespoon of water. Literally 1 tablespoon.

Overall Review: I really hope the Ozzy Osbourne description wasn't too overboard. To really solve the water spillage problem is easy! Just don't drink near the keyboard! Although in my opinion that is equal to cooking ramen noodles on the stove top versus a microwave. I'm hungry now and the microwave is faster and easier. It's inconvenient to use the stove top. This is a real and true review. i just have a colorful way to describe things.

1 out of 5 eggsIt's good while it lasted.

Pros: It uses high quality cherry red switches.
LED brightness is adjustable.
Function keys are convenient.
Audio volume can be directly controlled from keyboard.

Cons: LED gave out.
Keys no longer respond.

Overall Review: Wrote a review on June 30, 2013.
At that time, one of my LEDs from under the "7" key gave out. Thought it was just an unlucky circumstance. A few months out of warranty, at least 5 of my keys no longer work on this keyboard. I don't game or go hard on the keyboard, but its hard to justify such a seeming solidly built keyboard just have keys that stop working. It makes me wonder if the soldiering or components on the motherboards last as long as the warranty as well.

1 out of 5 eggsWas on my second one!

Pros: Liked the keyboard and mechanical keys and backlights.

Cons: Built a gaming system with all components purchased from Newegg.ca Everything else I bought except the Gigabyte Aivia osmium keyboard has been 100 percent. The first one failed (lights went out and was dead) just before the year was out so I managed to go through Gigabytes RMA process and sent it back and they sent a replacement. Just about a year later now with the replacement and the same thing happened no backlights and is dead. I wish I would have read all the other reviews on here and would not have purchased it. I liked the keyboard but for the money it should last longer than a few months because a cheap 29 dollar one will last for years.

Overall Review: Guess I'm out of luck with any warranty on this replacement and will think twice about buying any Gigabyte product again

4 out of 5 eggsLove this keyboard

Pros: Mechanical Cherry MX Red keys - This was my first mechanical gaming keyboard and now I can never go back. I absolutely love these keys.
Backlit keys- Has blue backlit keys that have an easy to reach brightness adjustment.
Solid construction - This thing is heavy and feel like its built like a tank. The cables are all jacketed and are a nice length.
USB 3 port built into the keyboard - This is a nice addition and I use it to plug in my portable external hard drive when I need to use it.
USb 2.0 port built in- also has a usb 2.0 port which I havnt really used but its there if needed.
Headphone jack built it- Has a headphone jack built into the right side which is a nice feature but I have never needed to use it. (The placement is questionable as it is kind of in the way of the mouse movement for a right handed person)
Macro software- Comes with macro software to set your mmacro keys and has a few profiles which you can change with the big switch above the number pad and each profile has a color that lights up on the switch.
Built in volume wheel.

Cons: The Macro keys are at the very top of the keyboard and really not easy to use at all.. I have never used the macro keys as I can't hit them without taking my hand off the keyboard.. Also since i have a slide out keyboard tray the macro keys are under the table so I cant hit them even if I wanted to. The macro keys are not positioned well for fast paced gaming but work well if you are not in a hurry to reach them.

Overall Review: I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews recently I have never had a problem with this keyboard and I honestly love it. Other then the position of the macro keys I have no complaints about it.
its the best keyboard I've owned and have not had the issues that the other reviewers have.

2 out of 5 eggsThis was a decent keyboard

Pros: This keyboard was a nice introduction into mechanical keyboards.

Cons: After two years the S and A keys, along with other random keys, would trigger a double keystroke when it was really only a single stroke.

Customer Service website was a joke. I just gave up on trying to get past giving them my serial number. I bought a new keyboard from another manufacturer instead.

Overall Review: Gigabyte is on my list of "never buy again" brands.

2 out of 5 eggsPass on this one

Pros: Excellent feel and ergonomics. The switches are perfectly smooth and have a long throw, but only need to be depressed about halfway to trigger. This makes for a very smooth typing experience and rapid game responses. The large palm rest is great.

Cons: This keyboard ghosts, badly, and it only gets worse as it ages. You will get lots of doubled letters, keys that get "stuck" and repeat until you press them again, etc. It also occasionally malfunctions and has to be unplugged and plugged in again to work.

Gigabyte's software is useless. It is not maintained, and the macro keys do not work. Not that you will ever use them, which brings me to my final point. . .

The location of the macro keys renders them effectively unusable. They are situated high above the normal keyboard, and are very awkward to use without hitting the F keys. Not that this matters, again, because the software doesn't work.

Overall Review: This keyboard could have been great as just a keyboard if Gigabyte bothered to make a proper electrical debounce filter to prevent ghosting. Instead, it's a flop. It may seem great at first, but don't bother. Buy something else, anything but this one.

1 out of 5 eggsOpen box?

Pros: Great Cherry MX Red key feel. SImple black keyboard with nice soft backlight that is adjustable for late night gaming. Quality braided cable with headphone jack and USB 3. The fact that you can't dim the Aivia macro indicator is annoying but not a deal breaker.

Cons: This was not a new in box item when it arrived. The inner plastic wrapping was missing and two of the macro keys had been pulled off and were rattling around in the box. I called newegg Premier Help hotline and was told that sometimes they're opened from the factory, and this is normal!? Furthermore, technically it's not a used item and since it appears to be working fine that they'd only give me a $10 credit or I'd have to RMA it. I've been ordering from newegg for 10 years and this is the 1st time I've had a problem. If these are in fact open box items it should say so in the description. I just signed up for the premium membership trial and there's no way I'm renewing it after the 30 days after this. I could have bought this keyboard from a competing website for the same price but chose newegg due to the outstanding history I've had with them. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I may just return this thing and order a new one someplace else.

Negatives on the keyboard itself are hard to reach macro keys (I don't intend on using much if at all) and a combination mute / volume control scroll wheel that feels pretty cheap and it's hard to get working corretly. I've had trouble mutting as you have to click it in like a mouse wheel and the wheel tends to scroll when you do this raising the volume again.

2 out of 5 eggsBroke Slightly After a Year

Pros: When working it was very good. Really enjoyed the feel of the keys and the overall ergonomics.

Cons: -One key had a tendency to register more hits than actually pressed
-The Keyboard broke 2 months after the 1 year warranty period. The keyboard keys no longer work or light up. Only the Aivia logo lights up and can change colors when pressed. The volume wheel works as well. No other keys work nor light up. I tried other functional usb ports and on another computer and that didn't change anything.
When you pay $100+ for a keyboard, you expect the product to work longer than 12 months.

Overall Review: I will continue to buy Gigabyte products, but I will look for keyboard elsewhere.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard has all the features, Lighting, Mechanical keys, Macro keys, A decent palm rest, USB and Audio/Mic Connections and i might add they are gold plated. The keyboard is sturdy and i feel it will last a long time before I grab me a new keyboard.

Cons: The lighting only offers one color Blue not much of a con just wish they would have really gone all out for a 100$+ keyboard.

-1 egg to a LED dying after 3 months of owning the keyboard.
I own a cheaper keyboard that is over 5 years old it has 3 different LED colors and all the LED's on it still work fine, LED's usually last many years without dying so I dunno whats happening in my case I guess ill just see if more die off and write another review.

Overall Review: All in all this is the best keyboard I have used so far, It works great, feels great, looks great but if more LED's die off the looks are going to start to suffer.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: I was going to wait and review this thing after I had a few weeks to actually get used to it and test every feature it has. But I couldn't wait. What a great product from Gigabyte! I have bought several motherboards from this company over the years, and now I finally have a matching KB. 5 nicely placed macro keys and 5 different profiles (each color coded) make this KB a dream to use. Software is easy to use. On board memory means if you have to reinstall windows or just move the KB to another PC you will never lose your macro settings. All you have to do is install the ghost software. High quality braided cable is nice, with gold plated usb connectors. Backlighting has a dimmer, as well as the volume control. The breathe lighting on the profile button matches my TT Chaser MK2 tower wonderfully. The only KB on the market with usb3 as far as I know. I have friends that own R@zer KBs that are jealous of this thing now. Hehe....take that R@zer!

Cons: The career of Justin Bieber...and none for the keyboard.

Overall Review: I bought this as a replacement for a L3vetron Mech 5 that kept having random keys die on me. After one return to newegg, and 2 returns to the manufacturer, I got this instead. Sure the Cherry MX black switches are more quiet, but I kind of like the clikkity clack of the red switches. Very well constructed. It's heavy....which means there is very a good construction level of internal components. The wrist rest is nice, but I don't use it. The backlighting is what made me purchase this KB is the first place. As I tend to game in the dark all of the time. After reading all of the reviews I figured I'd give it a chance. Glad I did! I absolutely love this thing. Only my second mech KB, and I am completely sold on it. Thank you Gigabyte. Now I just need the matching mouse to come down in price...

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing.

Pros: Quality:
After 7 months of heavy usage, the quality is astounding. The key caps are still flawless. They're not chipped or cracked, or peeling. It looks exactly as it did when it was opened. There's no key shine on any of the keys (WASD, Spacebar) from excessive use. The matt finish still looks impressive on everything, including the wrist rest.

Construction:
The weight of the keyboard is awesome. It's built with steel in the backplate of the key switches so it add's a lot of weight which is a good thing either just typing, or gaming so the keyboard will stay put on your desk. So there's no flex and give on the key board during heavy key pounding during a game. The illumination looks great, there's no light bleeding from under the caps, only the key caps light up even at it's brightest setting. It shows that there is a LOT of quality built in to the hardware. The scroll wheels for volume and illumination are a really nice touch they're not as flimsy as I thought they would be. They seem more gimicky at first, but it really let's me dial in the illumination just right, and the volume is a quick adjustment, no function key combos are necessary.

Use:
The USB hub and audio jacks on the left side of the keyboard is tremendously useful. I plug in my PS3 controller for certain games, and my phone for data synching, I wish these would become a standard in all keyboards.

Now for gaming, the key switches are smooth and fast, no tactile or audible feedback, great for fast, and responsive actions being that they're CherryMX reds. Even bottoming the keys out with the steel backplate, it gives a solid "tock" sound, not a hollow plasticy sound on some cheaper made keyboards.

Even the two USB plugs, and audio jack plugs in the braided cloth sheath scream quality. If you buy this keyboard, you're buying it for life, it's that well made.

Cons: The cons, this is where I knock off the single solitary egg. There's nothing TERRIBLY wrong with it, but there are a few minor details that could have been addressed for the full five eggs.

There's electromagnetic interference on the audio jacks when you have the illumination turned on. It's that slight whine you sometimes get in your audio? You can get rid of it by turning the illumination off, or make it barely perceptable with the lights turned way down.

The ergonomics of the macro keys, at the top of the left hand side key board is just a bad place to put them, just program them to be media keys with the software and forget about using them.

The position of the profile switch, on the top right, was more of a hindrance then a help as well, it's got a really short almost mechanical switch touch. But the top of the keyboard there iss hollow, it doesn't have the same quality as the rest of the key switches.

The ghost software isn't anything spectacular it's easy to use, and lets you record every key press. But it completely crashed my system a lot (Win 7 64bit) so I uninstalled it leaving the macro keys extraneous.

Lastly, the cherryMX red switches, they're so light that until you train your hands not to rest so heavy, you're going to be pressing keys you may not want to. Switching to a heavier key like a CherryMX black would have alleviated this problem.

Overall Review: If you are in the market for a mechanical keyboard for gaming, look no further. There's others that are flashier, but few that are more functional. If you feel you can live with some of the minor issues I pointed out, you won't be disappointed. It's a great product and sets the standard for mechanical gaming keyboards.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: Now that I have gotten a replacement, this keyboard is awesome. They feel of the keys and the finish overall is perfect. A nice solid keyboard with the sturdiest hand rest I have ever felt on a keyboard. Very satisfying click with every keystroke, but perfectly light and accurate response.

Cons: Unfortunately, my first one of these had the commonly reported problem of randomly disconnecting and becoming unresponsive until either unplugged or the computer restarted. I requested a replacement from gigabyte, and while they did take almost a month to actually ship out the replacement the one they sent was a brand new unit still sealed in plastic wrap and whatnot, which was good on gigabyte!

Overall Review: As I said in the previous review, DO NOT TAKE OFF THE SPACE BAR. The space bar has about 6 little pieces that all have to be maneuvered into place at the same time which after about an hour of messing with I was unable to do with my first keyboard.

If you need to clean it out or take keys out for any reason, take other keys out around the space with the handy little key removal tool the keyboard comes with and clean under the space bar that way. do not take it off.

Besides the common problem with disconnecting, the only thing I would change about this keyboard is the mute button being separate. It is pressing the volume control knob, which is easy to just accidentally turn up again after pressing it to mute which undoes your mute.

All in all a great keyboard... if you don't get a defective one of course!

2 out of 5 eggsBad outweighs good

Pros: Sturdy construction, dust resistant, heavy, and solid feel.

Cons: Major issue with keys doubling typed input. This is a real pain when having to type multiple passwords. Contacted the company to see if there was a fix and the suggestion was to update the firmware. After updating the firmware the issue actually became worse; now instead of doubling, sometimes it triples. Problem keys include //, @@. uuu, xx, .., and \\.

2 out of 5 eggsWas working fine for 6 months, but now isn't working at all.

Pros: This is a great keyboard out of the box. Feels heavy duty. Key response is very sharp. Adjustable LEDs and easy to use media controls. Never had any issues and even recommended it to friends.

Cons: On 9/28/12 after about two weeks of research I bought your Gigabyte GK-OSMIUM keyboard for my Gaming Rig. I have built several gaming rigs in the past and have used Gigabyte components with most of them, always with positive results. Right away I was impressed with how responsive it was and how well constructed it seemed to be. So much so that I convinced a friends of mine to also purchase the same board.

In the two keyboards I have seen the only issue on any of them thus far was a burned out LED on the friend’s keyboard. Outside of that both have been working flawlessly.

That was until yesterday (3/23/2013) where suddenly all the LEDs on my home keyboard suddenly switched off. Windows gave me an error message saying the device was disconnected and the keyboard was not responsive.

The computer was on at the time but I was working with my tablet when it happened. I restarted the PC and it still would not respond. The Aivia profile button would light up but nothing else. I unplugged it and replugged it back in with similar results. I plugged in a backup keyboard and it worked properly. I went into system management and removed the keyboard devices. Then plugged the keyboard in again and as before Windows is not seeing the Osmium keyboard. I even plugged it in to several different USB ports on the front and the back of the machine and tried multiple reboots with no joy. Plugged in my backup keyboard and it worked fine.

I took the Osmium keyboard and tried it on a Netbook running Windows XP and another Windows 7 machine; in each case the computer doesn’t seem to recognize the keyboard.

Overall Review: It's a Sunday so was unable to reach anyone by phone. I placed a email with the ID # of 1342032 into their support system. I am interested in seeing and will report back with how Gigabyte handles this. As stated before I have owned several gigabyte components, but never had to send any back.

2 out of 5 eggsThis *was* a great keyboard.. when it worked.

Pros: looks, feel, weight, volume and led adjustment, mechanical.. what more could you ask? It truly is an awesome keyboard. Its exactly what you would expect from all the good reviews. and it even looks good on the floor next to my computer. but...

Cons: ITS BROKEN. It took just under 4 months to go from absolutely awesome to absolutely useless. They keyboard in the blink of an eye died. I did not abuse it or spill anything on it. I was simply typing and boom, dead. I have googled for over an hour, tried every USB slot, updated software, checked for newer drivers... all to no avail.

Overall Review: Do not buy this keyboard, it is not reliable. Now that its an issue i am seeing tons of posts on this problem. And to top it all off, the aivia website says i don't have permission to view their tech support forum.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat keyboard. But

Cons: i have been using this keyboard since Christmas 2012 and all of the sudden the r key stoped being back lit

Overall Review: worth it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard with minor problems

Pros: Good keyboard because it is very solid made, has lots of functions, and has not a lot of issues

I don't use the palm rest, I use an Imak ergobead.

I don'-t like the plastic feel, similar to the newer quickfire tk, but it is the best choice as of now(seen) for cherry red, because it is lightest choice. I mean there must be a reason that both chooses to use this matte cheap-ish feeling plastic that is just not smooth to the touch like a Filco, but it gives good contorl, it does not oil up easily at all, and I have to admit, function is beauty when it comes to the so gaming oriented cherry reds.

Cons: once I spilled water accidently and experienced what others have noticed a drag of one key, letter K or L i forgot. But that disappeared.

When that happens, please just dry it up and take care not to use it as is, to be safe. It will dry up and come back to normal. If not you know who to call.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: This keyboard is so well built and comfortable to type on, easily one of the best keyboards I've ever owned. The keys feel great with just the right amount of feedback. The USB 3.0 port is also convenient. I've read others that mention they'd like the G keys to the left of the keyboard, but I think they're perfect where they are. Again, its so well built and sturdy that it really adds to the aesthetics.

Cons: Not much. Maybe another USB 3.0 port? I can't complain at all, this keyboard has been flawless.

Overall Review: I'd highly recommend this keyboard to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsSpectacular

Pros: The mechanical keyswitches! Once you go mechanical, you'll never want anything else.

Back-lighting and style are great.

Materials and quality used.

I especially enjoy the front stilts (as opposed to most keyboards only having rear stilts). I can angle my keyboard in a reverse plane.

Cons: I would have enjoyed a different Cherry MX switch such as brown or blue, but red is a better option to me than black. Sometimes the switches seem too stiff; that's just my personal preference and taste.

The USB port on the right seems to be angled down a little; utilizing it is a bit difficult at times.

The driver software is too user friendly and the GUI is a bit simple (like reading a child's book). I would recommend they follow similar styles of Logitech or Razer.

Overall Review: Overall, an amazing keyboard. I can show it off to almost anyone (I used my stock Dell for over 5 years). This was a perfect upgrade; definitely the most stylish and beautiful keyboard on the market.

5 out of 5 eggsKeyboar is solid!

Pros: Key board is heavy. You can tell it is well built. Also the leds on keyboard are bright. You can turn them down if need be. Or they can be turned off. also volume control is next to the led swwitch that can also be turn up and down or off. The cords are nicely braded.also two usb ports. One is 2.0 and 3.0 another great feature. The best keyboard i have ever owned. It is a MECHANICAL KEYBOARD, it is going to be loud. Dah. Im impressed with this board.

Cons: No cons at all. People complain about the stupidest things like macro buttons look before you buy they have a video of this board! Watch it.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Mechanical Keyboard

Pros: This keyboard was the first mechanical keyboard I ever got and I actually had my eye on the ones with blue switches instead of red, but I ended up getting red in the end and it's much better than I thought it would be. I do play a lot of games and in that it rules and even though red switches aren't designed primarily for typing, the typing experience on this is just unparalleled. I don't touch type, but I type with the index and middle fingers of both hands without looking at the keyboard and even without touch typing, my typing speed has increased probably in about 50%.
As I said, this is my first mecchy, so maybe typing on something like blues would be even better, but there's no way to say that for sure. I can say, however, that if you have never used a mecchy before, any, and I do mean any, will be sooo much better than membrane or scissor switch keyboards. I cannot get close to describe how good mechanical boards are. I can definitely never go back now as I have been spoiler by the higher class of keyboards. Maybe I'll try a blue next time if I get a good offer like I did on this one because blues are actually designed for typing so I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like.

Cons: There are a few cons I would like to mention that for some people may be more devastating that for others.

The first con is that the macro keys are on top. If you think the F keys are high up and you have to move your hands and stretch your fingers to reach them, just try to imagine the macro keys. If they were on the left side like on other keyboards, I might actually have some use for them, but since they're so out of reach, it completely defies their existence, which is practicality. Personally, I don't use macro keys, so I'm not discounting an egg for that, but If I could, I would remove half an egg.

The only other con is that the software sucks. There are no crashes or anything at least, but it's just not intuitive nor friendly. Makes absolutely no difference to me, but might to someone else.

Overall Review: All in all, great keyboard. If I had just waited a bit longer, I could have gone with the new K95, but after that one, this Aivia Osmium is the second best keyboard with red switches out there.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Keyboard

Pros: -I have never used a mechanical keyboard before this one. I must say I am pleasantly surprised, I would never want to go back to membrane style keyboards again.

-The back-lighting is terrific with an adjustable wheel for brightness, as well as, a volume wheel for easy sound management.

-The are 5 programmable buttons for macros and 5 different profiles that are easily cycled through. Very nice feature if you will use it.

-Very nice braided cable that lets you have USB 3.0 connectivity from the keyboard slot and audio as well for a mic/headset.

Cons: -Loud, but everyone should know that before purchasing it.

2 out of 5 eggsBroken F1 key backlight, apparently not a rare problem... otherwise an excellent keyboard

Pros: This keyboard is built very solidly, really sturdy braided cable. USB 3.0 passthrough, audio passthrough. Nice keys, comes with key puller and a few extra keys. The etching on the keys is sharp and doesn't feel like it'll fade in any amount of time, everything is consistent in feel and sound. Backlighting is exceptionally bright at top levels and can be adjusted or turned off quickly. Comes with a solid wrist rest that is very easily snapped on or off, no fear of breakage.

Cons: Apparently this is a common defect of these keyboards, someone else in these Newegg reviews has had the exact same problem: the F1 key backlight fails after a short period of time. The F1 key backlight is now dead after a little more than a month, 5 days out of the Newegg return period.

So now we'll have to see how well GIGABYTE holds up to their 2-year warranty on all PC peripherals and how painful the process is...

Without this defect, this keyboard is easily a 5-egg rating, but since the main reason I bought this was so I could have a fully backlit mechanical keyboard (as opposed to partially backlit, or no backlight -- of which there are plentiful choiceds), it loses major points for the problem.

Overall Review: Apart from the broken F1 key backlight, everything else has been very high quality and solid.

It's got quite a large footprint on the table, so take that in mind as well.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a great keyboard. I have not had a single issue. There is a 3.0 USB port on the back side of the keyboard which is great for when i have to plug a storage drive in to my pc and no longer have to reach around the back.

Cons: Not a con but it would have been cool if you could have changed the color of the back lit keys the same way you are able to change the color in the upper right corner key. But just being blue is cool enough.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The backlighting is very bright, the volume and backlight wheels are quite useful as are the USB and audio pass-throughs. And for me anyway the Cherry MX Reds offer a good typing experience as well as gaming experience. This won't be the case for everyone though.

Cons: Could have come with 5 custom keycaps rather than just 4, as the macro keys look funny with 4 nice shield and fire icons and then one that just says "G5." But that is really just nitpicking.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard

Pros: Keys feel great, backlighting at max is good and bright, mechanical style even feels more durable than regular keyboards.

Cons: Backlighting scroll wheel doesn't affect the backlight of the profile switch, USB3 isn't really reliable yet but that's no fault of the keyboard.

Overall Review: Overall, love the keyboard so far. Feel like quality, looks like quality. Would purchase again if I had it to do over. Recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mechanical keyboard from a low key company

Pros: Solid build - doesn't feel like a cheap plastic keyboard at all. LED backlit keyboard is very bright but can be adjusted, extra "G" keys are very well placed IMO, the cord is HEAVY duty and well built. The switches are very good quality (Cherry MX). The wrist wrest is very solid too, not like a typical cheap plastic wrist wrest. The rubber feet on the keyboard keep the thing in place so it doesn't move around during those intense gaming sessions.

Haven't had time to test out the Ghost macro program, but even without it I would highly recommend this keyboard.

Cons: No cons, this is the best keyboard i've ever owned (previously logitech G15, G10, razer black widow)

Overall Review: Little spendy for a keyboard, but this thing is so solid I expect it to last for 5 years or more, easy.

5 out of 5 eggsWay to go Gigabyte!

Pros: On keyboard USB 3 port (1).
Volume and led adjustable with 2 independents rubber wheels.
On keyboard memory chip.
5 macro keys & 5 macro profile for a total of 25 possible macros.
Nice breaded cable that is not too stiff for its size.
On keyboard "Winlock" key to disable Windows key when gaming.
Not too noisy for a mechanical keyboard.
Comfortable wrist rest.
Size still close to a standard keyboard even with the extra keys.
The large rubber feet and the weight of the keyboard give a solid feeling.

Cons: Would have appreciate a on screen volume indicator like the Logitech or Microsoft offerings.
Beeing hard on my keys when typing, I wonder if Black Cherry switches would not have been a better choice for me.

Overall Review: Love the two rubber wheels for the back-lit & volume adjustment. The on-keyboard USB 3 port is for me a great feature since my PC USB 3 slots are located at the back of it and not available on the front panel, this keyboard is now providing me a way to use my USB 3 flash drive without having to move from my chair.
Also, since this keyboard has a on-board memory chip, the back-lit adjustment is not lost when rebooting, and your macro are stored on the keyboard itself, so your macros will be following you even if you plug it into another PC. I did get nervous when I first plug it in and realized that the Aivia panel was flashing even when the computer was powered off, but this was something that could be activated/disabled with the Ghost utility.
I only wish that they improve the Ghost engine utility a bit and maybe add an on-screen volume meter like some other brand does.
Highly recommended!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard, but "F1" light already died

Pros: Great mechanical keyboard here. The "clickity-clackity" is very apparent but still somewhat quiet compared to traditional mechanical keyboards. love the extra buttons for macros, blue backlight, and volume + backlight brightness wheels. all make it look and feel awesome to couple this phenomenal keyboard

Cons: I've been using the keyboard for 3 days and the backlight for the "F1" key has already died. this does not make for a promising keyboard. i'm in love with it so far, and have a 3yr warranty, but seeing that 1 light is already out doesn't settle very well with its durability.....

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great in Windows. It has great custom options, 5 hotkeys and a solid feel. The keys are all very responsive. The provided palm rest is very welcome.

The blue back lighting is awesome, although the logo multi color lighting can be jarring when they are seen in tandem. This can be customized and removed in the Aivia Ghost software mentioned in the documentation.

Cons: It has issues on Linux. Pressing any non supported key results in the keyboard locking up.

The software for it is not very intuitive, and not included with the unit.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat, most of the time.

Pros: Feels great, weighs a ton, is very tank-like, good sound as well. Overall a great keyboard that I enjoy using. Adjustable LEDs, sound scroll wheel as well!

Cons: If I could go back I wouldn't buy this keyboard, the keys have started to stick pretty bad, but I've never gotten anything on it/inside it. I'm setting there slaying Thalmor near Helgen and suddenly when I press A it sticks and I walk right off a cliff, its just from overuse though, only WASD stick currently.
Also, you can change the color of the LEDs on the Aivia logo but nothing else so it just looks dumb, and the Num\Scroll lock LEDs are as bright as the sun and very distracting.

Overall Review: It's fun to use and sounds awesome, I won't go back to non-mechanical keyboards, but because of the keys sticking so bad when I'm gaming I would have rather spent 140$ on a different board, but I'm using it right now so it can't be all bad.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate - Issue Encountered

Pros: Still working, mostly

Cons: Possible power issues (see Other Thoughts)

Overall Review: I recently purchased a very nice usb mic (Blue Yeti, which is bloody awesome) through newegg and in the course of checking that out I made use of the usb 2.0 jack on the back edge of kb.

Almost at once, I started noticing the kb go into a bit of random blinking of the LEDs, and within a short while it had shut itself down and required a full re-start. Luckily I have not had any problems since, but I also have not used that usb port for anything again either.

I am wondering now if it is a power/voltage issue that others and myself have experienced. The keyboard itself draws power off the usb 2.0 so far as I can tell, and perhaps plugging in even more current draw with another usb-powered device is either just too much for the port, or maybe the power fluctuations are causing something in the kb to skizz out.

I guess the safest path forward is to only use the rear usb 2.0 port on the kb for things like thumb drives and such that do not really draw much current at all.

Would be nice if manufacturer would test and verify this, and either post the safe limits on connected devices, or beef up the circuitry. a bit.
