Pros: I will be going through these headphones with a fine toothed comb so please be patient with this review and if you just want a summation check out other.

Packaging- First I would like to take a brief look at the packaging which is mostly made of cardboard and has a clear part to improve the over retail aesthetic. The packaging is simple and includes the USB receiver, a USB extension, a USB to microUSB charging cable, some paperwork (warranty, basic setup instruction, etc), and the most important part, the headphones. Everything is packed snugly into the box and should only require minimal additional protection if shipping.

Build quality- The build quality of these headphone is very good and they feel very sturdy on your head and in your hands. The clamping pressure is strong enough to remain on your head with normal movements and head bobbing but dont clamp down so hard that they get uncomfortable. The wireless range works as specified and at a distance of about 15 feet through one interior wall but begins to break up after that. The on/off button provides a very satisfying click to them and the volume wheel has a satisfying click that is easy to feel how much you are adjusting the volume.

Comfort- These are some of the most comfortable headphones that I have worn due to the fact that the cups are covered in a microfiber fabric and use memory foam as the padding. I have worn these headphones for hours on end and after the first couple long gaming/music sessions they broke in well. The very wide headband is amazing and I can barely feel it on top of my head after a few minutes, its soft and wide which distributes the weight over a large area.

Sound quality- The sound quality is seems to be good, I have done some basic sweep tests and the response range seems to be in specification. Remember to break these in before judging their sound quality, when I first got them I was not too impressed but am now very happy with the sound quality. They seem to have a pretty flat frequency response so the music actually sounds like the artist intended it to. The lows are powerful but not overpowering and everything sounds crisp and clear. The mic is acceptable, a very good headset mic but not intended for professional streaming/podcast quality.

Cons: This section will be significantly shorter than the pros and I put some cons in other because they are simply not features included and not necessarily shortcomings of the product.

Packaging- When I first got mine the packaging left a little indent in the middle of the headband and it was a bit frustrating to try and take the headphones out without damaging the packaging (important if you want to try them and then take some pictures).

Build quality- no complaints, it is Corsair after all.

Comfort- The headphones are very comfortable but I wish that the memory foam they had used was a bit softer, they are a bit uncomfortable when you first put them on because the foam needs to settle into place. This is a personal preference and some may prefer the harder/sturdier memory foam Corsair uses.

Sound quality- They have a bit off a hiss when not playing music/making sound but it is far less than some other headphones that I have used (other expensive or inexpensive headphones). You are also tied to use the USB interface which bothers me a bit because I would have liked to have the option of using a USB DAC.

Overall Review: These are some of the best wireless headphones I have used and don't be scared by the USB interface, they just use their own sound solution which is usually just as good or better than on board. I would highly recommend them to anyone but wouldn't mind if they changed a few things on the next revision. I would have liked them to have a bluetooth radio that I could use to easily connect to anything with bluetooth instead of being tied to the USB receiver. I also wish that these had an analog audio connector that could be used optionally so I could connect to some other audio sources. Basically my main complaint is that I can't use these things with everything, but I really want to. One of the quirks I encountered was that after installing the drivers (easy as pie) I was getting popping so I had to manually go into windows sound properties and change the headphones from 16 bit, 44100hz to 48000hz which made the issue disappear. I also found the 7.1 digital surround to distort the original sound signature too much for me but the 7.1 surround does work well.

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair Vengeance 2100 Review

Pros: • Sound quality for the headphones is very good across nearly all frequencies, especially the mids.
• Sound quality for the microphone is superb. Throughout all its use, I was clearly audible while my environment was not.
• The circumaural earcups are very comfortable. The padding is very soft and you are not left with the feeling of your head getting squeezed like an extra-large pimple.
• Wireless, goes without saying but it most certainly is a Pro.
• Battery life appears to be very good.
• The extension cable is a nice addition, allowing you to locate the RF receiver in alternate locations rather than leaving you with no choice but to plug the RF receiver directly into the pc.
• Drivers are plug-n-play. Had no issue getting it up and running on a Windows 7 office pc without installing additional software. You will have to set it as your default playback and recording device, however.

Cons: • There was some crackling in the headphones at the 20Hz range. There is a nice Youtube video that can be used to test. Not an issue for me personally but if I’m going to review something I might as well run it through its paces.
• The microphone boom is NOT flexible. You will not be able to position the mic closer or further away from your mouth. You can still adjust up and down, just not in and out.
• Without the additional software the headphones default to 2.0, also known as stereo. This caused no loss of sound quality while using the headphones for VOIP (Avaya, Skype, etc.) and while listening to music but the overall experience is lost while gaming.
• The power button feels clunky and cheap. I did not experience any issues with the button but I am worrisome about its longevity.
• Power button really should have included an audible sound when turning off and on.
• If you use a surround sound speaker system you will have to manually change the default playback device every time you switch from speakers to headphones. It would be nice when you click the “power button” in the Corsair software to enable 5.1 and 7.1 the default playback device would change to the headset automatically. Not a deal breaker but would be convenient.
• I find the headset heavy and while not an issue during gaming sessions that last less than 4 hours, I cannot recommend these for use in a call center environment. Stick to Jabra’s.
• Your ears will get hot after use.
• Needs a battery life indicator. While the headset does show you a single, generic, flashing light to indicate its charge level. Red for almost dead, Yellow for not dead, and Green for fully charged, I find this very lacking. Would be a nice addition to the software.

Overall Review: The 40 feet range, while disappointing, is accurate. I cannot consider its range a con as it does function as advertised so no deductions were taken. Don’t expect to be able to put these on and go mow your grass.

I also want to reiterate that without the Corsair software the headphones default to 2.0. Not only do you have to install the additional software, you also have to enable the 5.1 and 7.1 capabilities in the software.

I truly enjoy this headset as it provides great sound quality for a gaming headset. The mic was of high enough quality that I had no hesitation using this headset for conference calls, through Avaya, while I was at work. I would not recommend using these at work if you have to spend 4+ hours using them on a daily basis because they will get uncomfortable but for gaming they get the job done.

If you are considering this headset I highly advise to pull the trigger whenever it is on sale. I cannot say they are worth the $150 price tag but if you can get them for $120 or less, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsPleasantly surprised by these!

Pros: *Great fit and finish
*Given a clean source and dialed in EQ, SQ is borderline AMAZING with these in stereo
*Excellent value at the current advertised price ($99) – could take off the mic and sell these as borderline audiophile cans for 2-3 times the list price – no exaggeration
*Simple to use software that is practical and makes an appreciable difference with different settings – i.e. the 10 band EQ actually works (several others software is just for show)
*Very impressive bass response; not the typical muddy/boomy bass like others that try too hard and sacrifice mids/highs = well balanced cans (search the tube for “Audiophile Vol.4 [Full Album HQ]” and crank it!)
*Wireless is painless to setup and has very good range; I think the advertised 40’ is on the conservative side
*Better than expected battery life (~8hrs at high volume and 25’ distance from receiver)

If you’re listening to music, you’re much better off leaving it in stereo mode vs. the somewhat gimmicky 7.1 matrix effect. These headphones will play crystal clear at nearly any volume given a clean source and realistic EQ settings. Speaking of EQ settings, the presets are surprisingly good with audiophile 1 and 1+. I settled on a custom preset and upped the 60, 120 and 8k hz slightly. Head over to the tube and crank some 24-bit audio to get a real appreciation for what the headphones have to offer. The only time the 7.1 matrix was of any use at all was in gaming…which also happens to be the main audience these are targeted for, so there’s that…but to me these headphones are so much more than “just” a set of gaming cans with a mic.

As with anything, garbage in/garbage out. These cans won’t make a junk MP3 sound like a studio recording. My personal EQ settings for anyone that wants something other than the presets as a starting point. For me, this is a good blend of highs/mids/lows:
30hz – +11
60hz – +6
120hz - +2
250hz - -1
500hz - +2
1k - -1
2k – 0
4k – +1
8k - +3
16k - +6

I haven’t experienced any of the “crackling” issues that others have reported, nor have I had any interference at (house is full in electronics, wireless everything, etc.)

Cons: *Heavy and lopsided weight
*Head in a vice feeling after long listening sessions

Cans are heavy and the left side feels considerably heavier than the right. While the left side does have the mic, it still feels (to me) as though there is a lead weight hanging from the side after extended (1hr+) wear. It would almost feel better if there was a counter weight on the other side just to balance it out, even if that made them heavier still.

These did start to get very uncomfortable on my ears after ~2hrs of use. I don’t have a particularly large head (7 ¼ hat size) and at that time it started to feel like my head was in a vice. The potential positive with this is they will fit a younger crowd and won’t be too large for kids/teenagers to wear.

When you put the headphones around your neck, it’s nice that you can fold them flat against your chest. However, it would be nice if they could turn out to project the music while not actually wearing them. Not an issue really, but would be a nice feature to some.
When I first installed the software, the program wouldn’t open. This, after a clean install and system restart. Had to uninstall the software, reinstall and then everything worked fine. Not a big deal, but should you run into the same issue, that cleared it up for me.

Overall Review: For reference, my PC audio system - Auzentech X-Fi Forte hooked to a Denon AVR 1909 with JBL Studio 530s or Denon AH-D1001 cans.

Overall I am pleasantly surprised and very impressed with the Vengeance 2100! I think Corsair is selling themselves short listing these as a gaming headset, which most “audiophiles” will quickly dismiss as a “lesser” product. You truly get the best of both worlds with these cans and I would absolutely recommend them to family/friends (I’m buying a pair for my brother for x-mas). The only reason I didn’t give these 5 eggs is due to the fact that these began to hurt my ears after a few hours. However, the fit is a very personal thing and your mileage may vary….

5 out of 5 eggsAudiophile like headset

Pros: This headset is very comfortable, I've been able to wear them for in excess of 6 hours, even using them to walk around listening to music they sound so good. I was very surprised by the sound quality, not something you can often associate with a gaming headset. The software has an EQ with some presets that work nicely. Playing Battlefield 4 with the FPS EQ preset makes the game come to life. Nothing quite like hearing a tank and the direction it's going that you can't see. Battery life seems to be pretty good, they have an audible beep when the battery starts to wear down. Mic sound quality is great (see comments below on microphone)

Cons: No microphone boost, the one con I can come up with. This makes it pretty hard to use this headset with in game voice, however some tweaking to my output in Ventrilo and it functions fine there.

I don't think the battery is user replaceable at least not simple.

Overall Review: Adding a microphone boost would make these simply exceptional, but as they stand they are so good I'll get over it.

If you are the type to listen to music while gaming then you may find that listening to music while in surround mode to be a little odd.

I didn't attempt to take them apart but I'm a little curious about swapping out the battery, however they do run dead when plugged in, so worst case you can still use them.

At first putting them on I was concerned they didn't feel to fit quiet snug enough and I was afraid I would easily overhear outside sounds and they may easily overhear my headset, this turned out not to be a problem and probably aided in the extreme comfort I have found with these.

4 out of 5 eggsGood wireless headset for gaming

Pros: Easy to set-up and install with Windows 7. Wireless with about 50 foot range. Good quality for games with surround-sound.

Cons: Not as good for dedicated high-quality (FLAC/MP3) music playback. Drivers still have some issues with Windows 8.1

Overall Review: This is the first wireless gaming headset that I have used, so I can't really compare it to other wireless gaming headset units.

Overall...I am please with the use of this headset while playing games.
The surround sound really does give you a sense of immersion with sound effects coming from all directions. I was able to get about 40 foot range until some sound started to break-up, and would get worse at 50 feet when it dropped the wireless connection.

The headset is a bit heavy, but everything is padded well and feels comfortable. But after 45-60 minutes of use, the weight starts to get to you. Also, the battery needs to be re-charged every few hours.

But for strictly music playback, I would pass on this headset, since the sound quality (mid-tones) is lacking and the mic is not removable and in the way, even though it can be flipped-up. Better off with a high-quality wired headset.

Driver set-up was no issues while using Windows 7 Ultimate x64, but with Windows 8 and 8.1 it did have some issues using the latest drivers posted on the Corsair site, so hopefully Corsair will update these with more stable drivers in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsAn all purpose gaming headset

Pros: Great wireless range....was able to go about 50' away and still had sound

Comfort is second to none, this headset is very comfortable and does not hurt your ears even after extended use. Nor does it make your neck strain as they are very lightweight

Battery life is about on par with the stated 10 hours of use, although there has been a few days when my use exceeded 10 hours and the headset was still going strong.

Virtual surround sound is great, gaming, movies, general chatting all sound great.

Cons: Bass response is lacking... although you can change the equalizer settings to make up for it

The overall size of the headphones can be an issue for some people.

Lack of a solid on power light on the headphones itself often leaves you wondering if they are on or off.

Overall Review: I have been using this headset for over a week now and find that they are rather comfortable, although they are rather big and can be a nuisance to some people, case in point my wife has a smaller head and they do not fit her comfortably. I find that most gaming headsets are made for guys and tend to leave girl gamers feeling under appreciated and left out.

I use to not be a fan of the early headsets that claimed 7.1 surround sound, but after giving in and owning a few different headsets I have to say that these win hands down. I found myself looking back and checking my surroundings because I was hearing things that other virtual headsets did not pick up. This is great for game playing and I found I loved these even more when watching movies late at night. Also having the volume control built right in and can be adjusted with the slight scroll of the volume wheel I can fine tune the volume to my liking. I also like the fact that these are closed ear design, my wife no longer complains about me having the volume up too loud as she can no longer hear it.

Aside from using these for gaming and movies I also tested them out with Skype and other web chat services. I found that the microphone is decent but also not the best nor is it the worst. After having installed the software I was able to tweak it a bit so that the microphone didn't pick up a whole lot of ambiance and I also limited the background noise to white noise, which helped the overall sound quality for the person on the other end. I had a moment after testing when I had to asked someone if I really sounded like that, the way it played back over the headset, and they told me no I didn't sound like I had that much bass in my voice. So, again I had to tweak my settings so I can sound normal without the added bass.

Overall I am really happy with this headset. It works great for gaming and chatting, good for music with decent bass....provided you set the equalizer for it, and its great for movies utilizing the 7.1.

Range is awesome, I managed to get about a 50' range from my computer base where it was plugged in at and my kitchen where I was listening to music. Occasionally they would cut out as it tried to acquire the signal, but overall I am very impressed.

Battery life is above average as I often got more than the stated 10 hours of use out of them, although I guess it could depend on what level of volume you are using.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this headset and would not hesitate to recommend it to someone else. I find that the slight hiccups I encountered was from my own doing such as messing with too much of the equalizer settings at one time, thus I did not dock a star for my own faults.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Headset for Windows/OSX, Not yet for PS4

Pros: The Corsair Vengeance 2100 Headset is a fantastic unit. I received the unit shortly after Thanksgiving 2013 and have fallen in love with it.

The unit is very solid. I accidentally dropped it from desk height (around 39") and it survived landing on a concrete floor with not even a scratch.

The sound quality is exceptional with very rich low-end and high-end. Turning this device to a modest level blocks out all other noise from the office/home and allows me to focus on the task at hand. The unit has built in volume control which works very nicely on both Windows and OSX.

The microphone quality was decent as to be expected for this price range. I took multiple VoIP calls while using this unit and made sure to ask about call clarity and all was said to be good. I also did a few recordings for my own findings and determined that the microphone was decent and would definitly work for a Ventrillo or TeamSpeak session.

Device setup was a breeze once I downloaded the software from Corsair's website. Simply plug in the dongle, wait for the drivers to install and then power up the headset. On Windows, the headset will automatically be selected, however on OSX you will need to option + click to select it as the output/input device in the settings.

Battery life is fairly decent for a wireless headset, rated at 10 hours, I wasn't able to wear it out after a full day's use at the office. The included cable for charging the device is long enough that I can put the headset on its stand and have the device plugged into my PC to charge overnight while I am away.

The product includes a USB extension/dock for the dongle. If you are finding that you are having difficulty with the reception, you are able to use this extension to reposition the dongle to somewhere that is not the back of your PC. This comes in handy in my setup as it makes it easy to grab the dongle for when I need to take the device home.

Cons: Even though I love this headset there are a few minor issues of note.

Bulk: This thing is huge. When wearing this headset I feel as though I look like I should be waving light sticks on a tarmac directing heavies into some international airport gate. While the headset doesn't feel particularly heavy while worn, it does look a little large on the head.

Device Power/connection indicator. The packaging seems to indicate that the device would retain the blue light as a power indicator that it was on and connected. Maybe this is just my misunderstanding, but just glancing at the headset there is no way to determine if it is powered on or not. The only ways to determine if it's connected (other than by it producing sound) would be to check if the light on the dongle is a solid blue as opposed to flashing, or to wait a few seconds to see if the blue indicator on the headset itself is flashing (connected) or off (device is off).

Overall Review: Nothing here really is a detriment enough to demote its 5-star rating to a 4-star, so I stand by my rating firmly.

If you are looking at this device as an option for the Playstation 4, I did test on there as well terrible results. While the device is recognized and seems to connect initially, the driver support is not there yet from Sony. The device will connect briefly, play audio and then disconnect only to repeat the process over and over again. I tried multiple things to try to get this to work as the all audio through headset option on the PS4 is fantastic. I made sure that range was not a factor, but still no luck. Will just need to wait for Corsair/Sony to update the drivers on the PS4.

I do not have an Xbox One so I could not test on there. Sorry, MS fans.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Headsets!

Pros: These headsets have extremely clear, crisp highs and very respectable low frequencies. They fit quite comfortably around my ears (I don't have large ears) and the padding around the headband is comfortable on your head. They stay in place, even when moving around and are rather light for their size. The software is easily downloaded and installed from Corsair's website, and is very easy to use. I charged them up and have gotten on average, about 9 hours of playing time after 3 charges. I'm sure the louder you have the volume, the shorter the battery life. When you use the software to enable the 7.1 surround, it makes a huge difference from the stereo settings when playing a game or watching a movie! The range is at least as good as advertised, I can go out of the room and down the hall, which is about 50ft and the signal is still strong and clear. I would definitely recommend these to gamers who need to keep the volume down so as not to bother anyone else that's around, that way you can blast away at full volume!

Cons: The only con I can come up with is the relatively large size of the headsets. This doesn't bother me, but for some people, it may be something to consider. Some have complained about the volume roller getting hit while plugging in the USB, but I have had no such issue. Also, I have seen a review that said there was no way to turn off the Microphone check and was getting feedback sound through the microphone. This person obviously did not download and install the software...there is a box you can check or uncheck to activate/deactivate this function. There is about a 1/2 of a second delay when you speak and when you hear it in the headset, but who knows that except for you? Someone online will never know your voice is 1/2 a second behind...just turn off the mic check if it bothers you!

Overall Review: The main purpose I have found for these headsets is for watching movies on my HTPC later at night after my wife has gone to bed. I can't watch a movie without the surround sound on (and loud), and these make it where I can crank up the sound without bothering anyone else! I am impressed at how life-like they make the action movies sound...the surround is pretty good, also! Make sure you click the power button on the user interface to activate the surround sound, otherwise it only plays 2-channel.

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair 2100 are solid headphones

Pros: My first ever wireless headset and I must say they are very nice. The sound is clear and the bass is rich.
They were plug and play and as Corsair stated within roughly 4 hours they were charged and ready to be used.
I tested the mic and it works well as intended.
These headsets are quite insulated. When on you can't hear any external noises so the sound absorption is excellent.
Corsair is correct about the range, around 40 feet before you start to break up but this is only in line of sight, if you go around a corner it will break up.
This is of course a non-factor while gaming but if you wanted to listen to music or some online radio while doing chores for instance the range is not the best for this purpose.
They seem well construction and are on the heavy and bulky side but they do have good support and the ear cups and headband are soft and comfortable.
The swivels on the earmuffs helps for adjustment as well.
I should note the mic is straight but upon seeing pictures on their site it can be bent as the plastic is soft for this reason.
I like the large ON button and the built in volume scroll is very handy.
Another nice feature, the LED lights around the USB charge port so you can visually see it's condition.
I found using the included USB transponder extension easier and with better range then having the adapter in the rear of the case.
If you have front USB ports this might not be an issue.
Both the range extension cord and charge cord are quite long, around 6 feet which is great and allows better placement.
The battery did last around 10 hours give or take. I was not aware they were running low when I was hearing beeps, I thought it was my music player so the audio reminder is a nice touch.

Cons: Longevity could be an issue as the lithium ion battery is built in and does not appear user replaceable unless you tore the headset down.
It does have a 2 year warranty, problem is lithium batteries generally last 2-3 years depending on usage.
This means when the battery dies a good chance these headphones go into the trash unless you try and repair them yourself if even possible.
The volume scroll does not have a stop for level 10, it just continues to spin so you cannot by touch tell when at max.
Having it click when off and stop at 10 would be an idea for a future version.
As this headset run at 2.4mhz as does a wireless mouse and keyboard, without being able to change the channel like you can on a router they can clash in the same spectrum.
I notice mouse lag and jitter when the headset is turned on, using my wired mouse resolves the problem.
I also have a wireless bridge that was running at 2.4, I changed it to 5.0 just to be sure there was not any interference.

Overall Review: The software [download from their site] is easy to use and allows for adjustments like 2.0,5.1 or 7.1 and also Dolby plus volume and an equalizer.
This software will override any other software when the USB is plugged in.
That said my on-board Realtek with Sound blaster XF software suite is useless. It has game profiles you can set up as well as scout mode.
Great headphones but I cannot take advantage of this since these headphones have their own built in chip.
This will also be a factor if you have any dedicated sound card as well.

Overall a good product with some slight shortcomings depending on your personal setup.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Headset

Pros: Sound quality
Wireless
Battery life

Cons: Weight
Lack of custom Win 8.1 driver at moment

Overall Review: The Corsair Vengeance 2100 weighs a hefty 13.5 ounces, but the weight is well supported by a wide headband. I wear wire-framed glasses and they felt “confining,” but a tight seal should improve bass and be more immersive. The set is made of quality materials of perforated leatherette, microsuede earpieces A sign of the times: there is a 22 page, multi-language “safety booklet,” but you'll only find a clear warranty declaration online after long reading to find it is 2-year.

An (if needed) USB extender and USB cord with mini connector charges the headphone. The charger requires 0.5 A, so you may not be able to use extension ports on keyboards or low power providers. Unit flashes orange while charging. It took 3 hours for a full charge out of the box. Corsair claims it lasts up to 10 hours in use. After a few hours of non-use, it went into standby. Eight hours later I powered on and it still had plenty of charge. In case you miss the blinking orange charging request indicator on the earcup, the headset sounds a 1kHz tone every minute as a reminder. When associated with the USB receiver, a large blue light flashes below the power button.

I was surprised at how plug and play it was without installing software on Win 8.1. I associated the headset by pushing the large power button 2 secs, my media player started and volume control popped up. A great feature is the ease of changing audio volume. The left earcup has a large roller with smooth detents. Rolling the volume control changed the volume on the computer; not just the headset. Using the headset overrides the computer’s headphone jack. Turning off the headset paused the media player. Software is not in package and downloaded from Corsair. As of this writing, Win 8 software is available only in beta. Unfortunately I installed it, played with a couple of settings and got my first ever lockup. After testing the microphone and a hearing constant loud hiss in the background, I uninstalled it. The background immediately returned to silence. I didn’t get to hear the 7.1 or 5.1 effect. The microphone is normally clear and natural sounding and cancels background noise.

Claimed frequency response is 40Hz – 20kHz +5/-5dB, -10dB @ 35Hz. Compared to my JVC HAX580 headphones, the sound was a bit airier and the bottom end was improved with a mid-bass emphasis– good for realistic munitions and explosions. Drum kits on audio tracks were more detailed. Even without the Win 8 driver, these are worth the price and I don’t doubt Corsair will have a working driver soon.

3 out of 5 eggsAudio quality isn't great, 7.1 surround sound doesn't seem that great

Pros: - Easy to install on Windows 7
- Microphone quality is pretty good
- Quick start guide was very easy to follow

Cons: - Audio quality just isn't that great compared to other headphones in the same price range
- Audio seems to crackle quite a bit while playing music

Overall Review: I have fairly high standards for audio quality, mostly since I've owned several pairs of headphones that were $100+ that were made by folks like Sennheiser and Etymotic Research. And let me say that the audio quality of this headset does not come close to even $60 earphones from the better quality manufacturers - audio cracks often while playing music, and the audio is too 'bassy' in comparison.

I do understand that this is a gaming headset first and foremost however, but since there's other activities that I'd probably use the headset for, I figured I would play some music through the headphones as well, and was subsequently disappointed when the audio started crackling on certain high notes.

As my gaming test, I tried playing League of Legends with the headset. Everything sounded incredibly airy and just not 'tight' in some sense. I was incredibly disappointed.

However, don't let my ranting stop you from buying this product, I simply have a fairly high bar on audio quality and this doesn't seem to cut it. There's other features that make it a compelling headset, which is that its built in microphone is actually pretty good, there's volume controls on the side of the headset that's easy to reach, and it's wireless, making it impossible to snag it on anything (plus you don't even have to remove your headset when you're trying to grab something out of the fridge.)

Pros: So far this headset is one of the best i have owned. Comfort is important for me and this has met my comfort level. With the option to have a wired headset or wireless you do not have to worry about running out of a charge. The charge life on the headset is decent depending how long you plan to game and so far i can complain about the charge life. the adjustable head band allows people with all shapes and sizes to be comfortable along with rotating ear pieces its hard to complain about this product at all. It gives you a great sound and great mic quality and seems to be a very durable headset that will go the distance with your gaming needs.

Cons: i have no complaints about this product so far

4 out of 5 eggsGreat wireless headset

Pros: Comfortable
Nice build quality
Solid battery life
Good wireless range
Good sound quality

Cons: Mediocre bass response
7.1 surround not all that convincing
Somewhat Expensive at $150

Overall Review: I have been using the Corsair Vengeance 2100's for the last week. First impressions are good. The 2100's have a nice solid build quality with solid feeling plastics. They have a fairly light feel and are quite comfortable when wearing for a couple hours. The power and volume buttons feel sturdy and should take years of abuse.

Comparing the Corsair's to my old Creative Fat1ty Gaming headset. Weight between the two is similar and comfort as well, with the 2100 getting the overall comfort nod. The Corsair's are noticeably superior in movie and game sound reproduction. Playing Assassins Creed Black Flag offered clean dialogue and the ship battles cannon's boomed with authority. The 7.1 feature of the headphones did enhance the ambiance and directional sounds slightly, but was only barely noticeable compared to the stereo setting. It does not really compare to my 7.1 home theater which honestly is pretty good.

For Movie testing, I like to test with Tron Legacy during the bike battle scene to test bass response. It has lots of heavy bass and my HSU VTF-2 Mk4 sub-woofer at home literally makes my walls and floor shake and groan. Here, the 2100's fall a bit short and the 50mm drivers cannot replicate the experience, although they so have better response than my Creative's which do distort.

Admittedly these are gaming headphones, but I do like to test with music. The Corsair's do a adequate job here as well, with pretty decent details and mids. They are not going to compete with a set of Sennheiser HD650's, but do a respectable job.

Battery life and range are good. My son and I got close to 10 hours of them before needing to charge. Charge time is a couple hours. Lateral range is pretty good, I tested to about 30-35 feet before they started to lose connection. However verticle range, like going up stairs to a different floor they cut out sooner.

Microphone works well with none of the hiss that the Creatives suffer from. My friends state that my voice comes through cleanly with not vocal anomalies.

Overall I am pleased with the headset. They are superior to my old $50 headset and the wireless capabilities off a much improved experience. They are not perfect, but I believe the cost is reasonable for the quality and performance that Corsair has provided.

4 out of 5 eggsFollowup Still going Strong

Pros: I am following up on my previous review. I still love these head phones. I still feel that the sound and range is still good. As stated by other people there is a problem with white noise from microphone I still haven't experienced this and feel it may depend on what the computer setup is and how it plays with these headphones. I have had problems in the past with other builds and other headphones causing static in quite moments and it usually was the microphone.
I took one egg off on this follow up see below.

Cons: I said these headphones weren't to heavy for me and after having them for a while now they do get to be a little cumbersome. I ware them a lot during the day and still love them but I think it would be a problem with many people.
The on off button on the side of head phone seems like it could fail in time. I know that isn't something I can be sure of but it just feels like that to me.

Overall Review: I still recommend these and Love the sound I get from them. And no wires is so nice!

5 out of 5 eggsFirst World Problems

Pros: -The microphone is better than most headsets I've used. Before these I used a Turtle Beach PX21 set which worked well but everyone I've used these with say I sound better with this Corsair set.

-The overall audio quality is adequate. These are not audiophile headphones. If you're planning to enjoy your vintage vinyl collection at its best I would recommend you look elsewhere. For times when I only want to enjoy audio fidelity I have a pair of Grado RS1i's. But for the intended purpose of playing games and general media I have no complaints with this set. I haven't experienced the crackling sounds that some have reported and I've run frequencies from 20Hz-20KHz through them with no issues.

-Excellent wireless experience. I traditionally avoid wireless products as historically they don't always perform on par with their wired counterparts. However, I have officially retired my old wired Turtle Beach headset in favor of these. With these I am able to chat with friends while gaming and run to the kitchen for a drink or a snack without breaking the conversation. There is roughly 25-35 feet and a wall between my PC and the kitchen and I haven't witnessed any loss in quality or audio cutouts. Corsair seems to have created a product which offers the streamlined convenience and quality that was needed for me to jump onto the wireless bandwagon.

-Battery life is great. I find myself using these for 1 or 2 hours a day and the charge seems to last me about a week. I've never monitored recharge time but it seems to take a few hours. You can use them while they're being charged and being accustomed to wired headsets anyway makes this a non-issue for me.

-The volume knob is awesome. I like the color, the texture, the placement, and it seems to offer just the right amount of resistance. And above all else, it works.

-Setup couldn't be easier. These worked just by plugging them in even before installing software. The indicators are also intuitive to the point that no explanation was necessary for me to know how to get them working.

-The included documentation is adequate although I find physical manuals to be increasingly unnecessary. With just about all manufacturers supplying pdf manuals I generally discard physical manuals to get rid of clutter.

-I find these headsets to be very comfortable. I haven't worn them more than 2 hours at a time but within that time I haven't noticed the familiar hot or aching ears ears I often get from headsets.

-The quality isn't outstanding but for the price-point they're better than I would expect. They don't look cheap and they feel as if they will last at least a few years if taken care of.

Cons: -The microphone boom does not bend easily. To adjust it to anything besides straight forward requires bending it much further than what would normally be expected. It DOES adjust (some have mentioned that it does not), it just takes some effort.

-These are NOT true surround sound headphones. There are only 2 actual drivers present. The virtual surround experience isn't bad, it's better in fact than many other attempts I've seen. Neither the headsets nor its packaging claim anything beyond virtual surround but some might jump when they see 7.1 in the product name when it should maybe be listed as "virtual 7.1".

-The USB receiver has a blinking blue LED when the headphones are turned off which can be annoying if it's visible in a dark room. My solution is to hide it behind a speaker so it's not a big deal for me. The LED isn't even the super bright laser variety that many manufacturers seem to be favoring these days so it's basically a non-issue.

-This was to be expected but the headset was not charged out of the box. This required them to be charged for an extended period before they could be used wirelessly.

-It would be nice to see charge level via software. The device itself shows no indication of charge level unless it's plugged in, and even then there are only three colors to indicate a rough charge level.

Overall Review: This being my first foray into wireless headsets I really didn't know what to expect but I have to say, I've been impressed with these. I've been skeptical of most things wireless in the past and this headset has alleviated much of my skepticism. I love being able to walk around the house without being tethered to my desktop.

I would highly suggest installing the software for these. Without it there is no virtual 7.1 surround sound which I have come to appreciate in most games. Also, before installing the software I had to re-select my default system audio device every time I switched between these and speakers. Software seems to have fixed that problem.

Overall I have to recommend these. If you're in the market for a solid headset with a good mic give these a shot. You won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsGood with some caveats

Pros: Overall Good - Mechanical design is very solid, nothing shoddy in the construction; it feels like it would hold up over the long haul. The first thing I went to try is to see if I could get it to work. The battery appeared to be totally dead, not necessarily a bad thing but does throw a little bit of cold water on the out of the box experience as it delays the gratification (excitement) of instantly using the product. It came with a micro USB to standard USB which I plugged in to charge. Shortly after plugging it in, my Win7 X64 machine informed me that it had located a device driver and was in the process of installing it. This is a nice feature.

Things I am not testing very heavily is battery charging/discharging time, transmitting distance, and noise canceling microphone aside from just impression of listing to the output. What I am testing is headphones in comparison to a couple of notable headphones of other manufacturers.

As far as the headphone feature, I thought I could compare it two existing over ear headphones on the market for audio quality. The first is Sony MDR7506, the reason these phones are a good standard for comparison is that these are the headphones which are often used by professional sound engineers as sort of a standard for a relatively flat, unweighted sound. Listening to audio on these phones and comparing them to the Corsair V2100 should reveal any weighting which is present in these phones. Having a weighted sound isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it means that you aren’t getting a “true” reproduction of the original source, instead you’re getting one the manufacturer believed to be more pleasant. The second sets of headphones used for comparison are Bose QuiteComfort 15 which have acoustic noise canceling. For price point comparison the Sony phones are about 20% cheaper, the Bose are more than 150% more expensive.

It needs to be noted that there are a couple of features rolled into the Corsair V2100 that optimize it for its designed use of being gaming headphones where the other two sets of headphones are optimized for different intended uses. First, the complete opposite of the Bose phones, it amplifies ambient noise picked up from its microphone as you are *expected* to be talking while listening, so you will hear the content coming over the headphones plus the ambient room noise including your voice. This helps keep you from screaming at people when you talk to them – a definitely good feature to keep your friends from getting aggravated with you when talking at them. The Sony phones have no noise cancelling and are optimized more for audio engineering – flat sound. The Bose are made for comfort (gel filled), and often sleeping on a long airplane ride – and do this well.

Cons: First point of comparison is comfort – all the phones are well made, the Bose (again much more expensive phones) – are the most comfortable as they are gel filled, the Sony phones I would rank number 2, and the Vengeance 2100 are number 3. Both the Sony and Bose phones used in the test are well worn (broken in) which may contribute to their comfort, the Corsairs are a little stiff and may soften with use – thought I don’t know this, it seems possible. If you are planning on living with the Corsairs on for long periods of time, you may want to give this metric more weight.

The results of the listening test will have a lot to do on how you like to listen to your music. If you like treble – you’ll definitely like the Sony MDR7506 engineering headphones. If you like deep base but muddier midrange – you like the Corsiar 2100. If you drive around with a giant basebox in your car, this is probably the phones for you. The Bose in my opinion were by far the best sound – nice clear mids and uppers, but still a healthy base. I don’t really consider this a “fair” test as the phones were all in not only different price ranges, but also a different target audience and use – but at least I think I can provide you with what you might experience.

Overall Review: There are currently several vendors offering 7.1 gaming headphones. DSP technology is needed to implement 7.1 and make it appear that there are 7 speakers giving you the feeling of being able to tell the point of origin of any noise. These according to Corsair have two and it’s likely DSP technology making it “feels” like 7. I wish I had some good source recordings to try this out with, but unfortunately I didn’t.

If you put these headphones on and listened to no others, I believe you would be quite happy with them - most people don’t have much audio memory. This isn’t meant to sound bad, it isn’t – all three of these phones had decent sound, and were reasonably comfortable. But to honestly rate them, they weren’t either the most comfortable or the best sound – but were reasonable.
Quality Feel: 5/5
Comfort: 3/5
Audio: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

4 out of 5 eggsVery Good Wireless Headphones

Pros: -Very good sound. I woldn't say outstanding. Focus is in the mid-range, unless tweaked with EQ in software which improves it based on your taste. Still have heard better with wired. My first wireless set so nothing to compare these with.
-Very convenient being wireless. Impressed with (line of sight) range. See also cons.
-Battery life very nice with 9 hours at low to avg level volume ranges.
-Comfort (short term) is good. (see also cons)
-Noise isolation very good due to full coverage over ears.
-Quality build. These don't feel flimsy in any way. Very solid.
-Access of controls is easy.
-Status led for charging is nice.
-Audible beep for low battery warning in the speakers.

Cons: -Weight is an issue if you move your head around much. My best solution is to put strap down on the head more than I like to help bear the weight.
-Comfort long term is not great. After a couple hours you start to feel them more and more pressing against your head. I can't say if they will loosen up a little after a break-in period.
-Range is line of sight. Walls will interfere and cause dropouts. Not a good solution for music while going all over the home cleaning etc...
-Power on or off is press and hold for a couple full seconds. Not explained as well as it should be and no audible beep.

Overall Review: -My primary use is for movies and music. Great set for those purposes at least up to a couple hours or so.
-No apps for me to try out the mic at this time. Will update if able to utilize it later. Sorry to you heavy gamers or Skypers.
-Ease of setup was great, as was the unboxing.

4 out of 5 eggsImmersive gaming and great audio

Pros: Good construction
Comfortable
Good Sound (nice bass)
Easy Installation
Intuitive, simple software
Battery Life

This was my first set of wireless gaming headphones so I wasn’t too sure what to expect in terms of sound quality. The first thing I did was fire up a few first person shooters to see if the 7.1 surround was effective in helping to determine where enemies were on the map. They worked quite well. The mic worked well too. My teammates were able to hear me without a problem, even though my wife was in the same room watching TV (which I could not hear much in the headset). Overall I thought the sound was immersive and that the headset was an improvement over my wired headset, which only cost slightly less than these a few years ago.

These aren’t advertised as music headphones, but I couldn’t resist the temptation to listen to a few FLAC audio files to see if I could hear anything different in terms of bass and/or treble clarity. The 50mm drivers are larger than my old headset, so I was expecting more bass. I was not disappointed. I heard no distortion even at loud volumes.

The software, which you download from Corsair, is very simple and effective. It lets you choose from 2 channel stereo, 5.1 surround, or 7.1 surround and has an equalizer. It also has sliders for volume and microphone volume.

Cons: Range
Fixed frequency

I was a little disappointed with the range of the headset. Corsair advertises up to 40 feet depending on environmental factors such as interference from other sources, but I was only 10 feet away before I started losing reception. However, that was through a couple of sheetrock walls. if I remained still I could get the signal 20-30 feet away. It would be nice to be able to change frequency channels to see if that would improve things, but there aren’t any options for that to the best of my knowledge. I’m deducting a single egg for my disappointment in this area.

Overall Review: My old wired headset also interfaced via USB, but they plugged into the USB module via standard 3.5mm audio jacks, one for playback (green) and one for the mic (red). This allowed me to use those headphones with other devices, such as my cell phone or tablet for listening to music or watching a movie. There is no way I can think of to get this headset to connect to another device, so they’ll be limited to my PC and laptop. Since Corsair has not advertised these as anything other than a gaming headset, I see no reason to deduct an egg here. It’s just more of a heads-up to people who may want to use these for other reasons. You probably won’t be able to.

The Corsair Vengeance 2100 is a very nice headset. Even though I already owned a wired headset from a very reputable audio manufacturer, they are a subtle but welcome improvement, particularly in the areas of positional audio in games and bass when playing music. Overall I am pleased with the performance of the headset and give them 4 out of 5 eggs.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't expect 7.1 from 2.0

Pros: These are wireless, almost. Unfortunately, I was unable to test the audio with a 3rd party. You can hear yourself talk, and can disable that in the software.

The volume wheel on the side is quite nice. There is a knurled roller and it has detents so you can fine tune the volume and not spin it too far.

Seems Corsair is on the ball with the software. They had an update for a Windows 8 issue, which did not affect me any.

The battery life of 10 hours is pretty close. You can plug in another USB cable(provided) to charge while you are listening. The USB port on the head phones will flash red when charging.

With 50m drivers, the bass is head rattling. But it seems at a cost.

The software is not needed at all if you don't care about fake surround.

Headphones will beep when the battery gets down to about an hour left.

Come with another USB cable/dock for the USB dongle.

The ear cups are very comfortable. Even for a headset that weighs almost 3.4pound, te head band is leather like and slightly padded. The ear cups twists to conform to your hear and there is adjustments for each side.

The USB port on the head phones does turn solid green when fully charged.

Cons: The software is where you change EQ settings, enable the Dobly surround. When the power button is activated, any input is configured into a fixed 7.1 surround. There is also mic and vol buttons, the same as if you had used the Windows speaker icon on the task bar.

The sound quality is VERY high pitched. I used Winamp for my first test and the EQ settings were made for the laptop I was trying it on. I slapped my left ear hard to get the volume down in a hurry. Seems there is an insanely high peek around 10k. Winamp's 12Khz EQ seems to have the most benefit of being drug well into the -db range. It also looks like Corsair is aware also because all of their EQ settings have the 8K EQ setting almost down to near silence.

There is also no way of checking the battery life. You have to keep track mentally on how long you were wearing the head phones.

To sync the head phones, you have to hold down the grey dimpled button. Not really a con per-say, but an annoyance.

Unfortunately, as the headphones are very comfortable, They also get warm after just an hour of listening. There is no air ports like on my Sennheiser.

Listening to 7.1 sound of TV shows and music made me nauseated. I think Dobly employs some sort of delayed out of phase audio to mimic directionality.

Don't expect to get 40 feet with these indoors. Probably 40 feet of open air. If you are using these outdoors, you are probably already using a wireless device :-)

Overall Review: I am not a fan of head phones. I only own 1 pair and they are a Sennheiser HD500, which I bought MANY years ago. I have a real THX certified 7.1 theater, and real 5.1 THX certified speakers. There is NO WAY to get spacial sound from only 2 very directional output devices, only a few inches from your ears.

The packaging could probably be listed under the Pro. The unboxing was very easy. Slice the plastic dot holding the rear flap closed and pulled open. Was presented with a large door with a finger hole in the middle. I pulled and the entire packaging slide out of the black angled cardboard hanger.

Another plastic dot to cut though and the side door has a large handle to pull it open. Inside is the normal pamphlets, 2 USB cables, USB(bluetooth?) dongle, and the other side of the head phones.

If you are buying these for the 7.1 hype, don't. They are perfectly fine as gaming headphones though.

4 out of 5 eggsSound followup

Pros: Please see previous review

Cons: Constant white noise when audio is present. Not sure if I'm alone on this, but from what I have read in forums I am not the only one.

The sound was faint and for the most part sitting at desktop you don't hear it unless you open a process that has sound, like youtube. When listening to youtube videos at high volume you cant hear the sound, but when you turn the volume all the way down you can tell the white noise is present. Close the browser and the noise goes away.

Its mostly present when you open Teamspeak and join a server. Its just constant white noise, like a silent, constant swishing sound. At first it was hardly noticeable and now its starting to irritate me.

I have tried older drivers, beta drivers and even muting the mic and the sound doesn't go away. I have tried several settings changes and i cant get rid of the sound. I have posted in the forums and even sent in a ticket with no avail. Which reminds me the ticket system requires you to enter a part number, which they don't have this models part number as an option on their website. Technically you cant move forward on the ticket without this ability. I entered a different part number as a work around and explained I did that in the ticket.

Also: They have an online help which conveniently is always OFFLINE.

I question if this white noise I hear is from the built in microphone check which faintly plays back microphone sounds so you know your mic is working. From what I have been reading you can not disable that, in which case would be a HUGE design flaw in my opinion.

Overall Review: The sound thing is really starting to annoy me, to the point that I may not want to use this headset any longer. I still agree with my 4 star review because in game, particularly BF4 I am aww struck.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that the ON button on the side should have some type of sound to indicate when the headset is turned on and off. Would be nice.

4 out of 5 eggsVengeance 2100 Review

Pros: 1: Fantastic Sound
2: Clear Mic
3: Light Weight & Solid
4: Charging and setting up is a breeze
5: Range is as advertised 30-40ft

Some advice if you want to control your 5.1-7.1 etc..
you do need the drivers advertised in the manual

Cons: I have only one con and this seems to be an electrical issue with the sound. While charging you will hear a buzz or humm in the headset, it will go away if you ground yourself to your case or any good grounding source.
This is something a driver cant fix.
This is a huge problem for people who forget to charge their headset overnight an need to plug it in while in use.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding product

Pros: Extremely comfortable (even with glasses)
40 out of 60 weekend hours gaming/movies/ect
Sturdy, not flimsy
Battery life is exceptional
Now is the time to pick one of these up for under $100. I paid almost full price before Xmas.
For the price, the sound is outstanding!

Cons: 5.1 is buggy, recommend not to use this yet stick with 7.1
Feedback using mic while charging and using the headset (normal, but annoying)

Overall Review: In this day and age, the headset manufacturers need to step up! There is plenty of room to put a cell phone style Lion battery pack in the right ear so you are able to swap out battery packs. I modify my wireless headsets to use a lion cr123a. If you have a wireless device, the point is to KEEP it wireless. With the above battery, after 18hrs of use I just swap out the battery. No more plugging in to charge.

5 out of 5 eggsGoodnight, sweet prince.

Pros: Anything you could think of. This has been by far the best headset I have ever owned.

Tremendously great sound quality.
Great Wireless Range
Comfortable Ear Pads
Excellent Mic that cancelled nearly all of my background noise (with a window mounted ac unit, about 5 or 6 dogs, a nagging wife and her sister that is pretty impressive)
Easy to charge
and a 10 hour battery life

This headset gave me 2 years of service. 2 years of raging, childish tantrums, endless frustrations, about a million cherished moments of happiness and elation.

superb. I would have bought it again if it weren't out of stock.

Cons: Nothing is perfect, and I will say these problems didn't start until 7 months ago, and it still kept going.

The charger port on the headset came lose, this was it's ultimate demise. one day i noticed the charger wouldn't set right. and a few months later it would just fall right out. i had to put it a certain way to get it to charge (which by this point i was more than happy to do because i LOVED THIS HEADSET and REALLY didn't want to have to replace it)
and a good long while after that (like 4 months i think) it wouldn't charge period.

another problem, which I didn't mind too much even from day one, was that it was pretty heavy. when you've been wearing it for a while you don't notice it. and once you've had them for a while, you're just used to it so it doesn't bother you. but for some this might be an issue.

one problem though i can think of that wasn't my fault (it happened about a week or so in) is the mic got REALLY loose. it wouldn't stay up by itself anymore. if i so much as tilted my head while it was up it would fall all the way down to the open position. I was gonna contact support but i had lost my paperwork, so i decided to just deal with it (my choice)

Overall Review: as mentioned above I loved the heck out of this headset, the issues i encountered with the charger port may have very well been my issue. and honestly the issue with the mic wasn't horrible. inconvenient but not horrible.

take a chance, buy it. i promise it's worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsglad i bought it

Pros: -sound is great for gaming and music, surround sound makes a difference and nice (i'm not an audiophile)
-mic quality is pretty good and clear. like that flipping it up mutes the mic
-ear cups and head band are very comfortable and you hardly notice the headset when you are using your computer
-battery has never been a problem, no problem charging the headset with my desktop next to me
-the adapter for the dongle increases the wireless range dramatically (barely could go a few steps outside my room and keep the signal, now able to stay connected further)
-software very easy to use and toggle surround sound
-mutes out a fair amount of outside noise

Cons: -the ear cups can get hot. i run hot, so it can be an issue from time to time
-gf says i look ridiculous with them on...not surprised
-they feel solid, but i'm still not sold on the sturdiness of the swiveling joint connecting the ear cup to the headrest

Overall Review: i'm glad i bought the headset after putting off getting one for so long. i was worried about the hiss, but it's no worse than the hiss from turning on your computer speakers and the hiss given off from those when nothing is on. the hiss is pretty much gone, if not completely, when any sound starts coming off. thought it would be annoying, but it's not even worth putting in the con section.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Headset

Pros: Wireless feature is really nice and it can charge while in use, sound is amazing, the 7.1 works great for gaming.

Cons: The low white noise only happens when it is plugged in, and it can be removed by reducing overall volume to about 70%

4 out of 5 eggsGreat wireless headset for gaming and music

Pros: Bought myself a pair of these after going through 3 Turtlebeach X12's and I really enjoy them. The build feels sturdy, fast driver installation, ability to use while charging and good battery life. i mainly play BF4 and this with Wartape audio and Surround is amazing. Will try other games with it as well. The drivers for the headset has a little control panel to adjust settings, preset profiles such as "Audiophile, FPS, and MMO" and I thought that was neat as well. I get pretty good range with these headphones. My room is downstairs and I have a pretty good amount of stairs to climb. Perfect signal within close proximity towards my room. so I can listen to podcasts while I cook or something with no drops at all. I've been wearing these for a few hours now and is still pretty comfortable. Doesn't get as hot or sweaty as my previous X12's got.

Cons: The mic that comes with it is disappointing. It gets in the way sometimes when re-positioning these on your head, so in the end I wish it was retractable. Buy yourself a blue snowball if you want quality voice audio. Otherwise, it suffices for voip.

Overall Review: I have to say, making the leap from my X12's to the 2100's was well worth it IMO. Much better sound quality, but not audiophile like sound. Get some Sennheisers if you don't mind wired headphones. As wireless ones, they're great.

4 out of 5 eggsGave me chills

Pros: - Excellent battery life
(the headphones actually conserve power by switching off the speakers when not plugged in)

-crystal clear audio imput
(not a single glitch while I was gaming- work an online job and the customers were able to hear me clearly)

-Doesn't slay your bank account
(for 100 dollars the price to quality level is superb)

-Surround sound 7.1
(this is where the title came from- when I flipped this headset on for the first time with spotify playing - the range and depth was incredible, made me want to crank up the music)

Booming bass- the 50mm drivers in the headset really push the kick the bass , emulating explosions properly within the headset and giving the right burst of the bass at the right time on each track

-Could almost use them outside
Have my computer in my office- was able to walk into the living room about 25ft away and still pick up the same quality sound as if I were right next to the system, plenty of metal shelves around to disrupt the sound and it works the same with all the doors open or closed

-Great at cutting out distractions
Cancels out nearly all the sound coming in- had a TV playing in the background at full volume and could only hear a small blur of interfering audio while I was gaming

Cons: -Sensitive microphone
(microphone was so sensitive it picked up my breathing - had to actually turn the gain down)

-Fuzzy sound
There was occassionally static that came from the speakers running with no sound playing, wouldn't notice it otherwise

-Doesn't attain the audio depth that a dedicated Bose headphone would, treble suffers for sure-

-Headset wears on you after awhile
the cups themselves are satisfyingly soft and the padding at the top keeps the headset snug on the head but heat starts to build up and I found myself taking them off every four hours to cool down/massage my ears - headset also felt heavy at first but I was accustomed to the yapster which weighs nearly nothing

Overall Review: Carries voice really well but would not reccomend surround sound setting for voice chat- tends to stretch the audio

Corsair software is not included on with the headset but is neccessary if you want to run the surround sound- these needed to be downloaded from the Corsair website itself- though the software once downloaded comes with several range settings that have preset levels like Audiophile +1 which boosts the depth of the audio considerably-

Be sure if you purchase this headset to lower the microphone levels- picks up the smallest sound (left mine on 25 and friends were reporting lil sound interference)

Overall I'd give them an A for design- lighting and style was beautiful- headset is well engineered but could use a little tweaking on the drivers to help cut down the static

1 out of 5 eggsLacking consitent performance

Pros: it's a comfy design, albeit a little cheaper feeling (more plastic) than comparably priced products.

Cons: Bought this is a gift for my brother as he wanted a wireless headset that wasn't made by logitech....we were really excited about this set as they seemed incredibly comfortable and had decent sound quality. Unfortunately we cannot get this product to perform consistently.

The headset keeps cutting in and out while we're talking, both his audio input/output. If this only happened once in a while it would be one thing, or if it only happened when we were far from the wireless receiver...but this occurs all the time (like 5-10 times on average during a ninety minute gaming session) and it happens when the receiver is less than 2 feet away. RMAd the headset to see if it was an issue with our specific model, but nope...same problems in the replacement (on both my and my brothers computer). I definitely would recommend spending your money on another product.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent wireless headset

Pros: This headset has blown all of my expectations away. I expected this headset to have some draw backs where the mic wouldn't come through the other party's end clearly but it does! The sound is incredible, i love how it can be adjusted with a simple program. I have not owned a headset made of this quality in a long time. I pay 99.99 for it but even for 149.99 it is definitely worth it! the 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1 can be changed on a fly and yes it is true Dolby surround.
-Headset is also built very well and without cheap materials. BUY THIS HEADSET!

Cons: NONE!

Overall Review: If i would have to make a small dislike about this headset it would probably have to be the plastic ON/OFF button on the side. It isn't a big issue but it is a possibility that it could wear out in the future with heavy usage. The mic boom isn't retractable inward or outwear, it sits in a fixed position but it can be bent towards your face more and with the software you can adjust how strong your mic is. BUY THIS HEADSET!

5 out of 5 eggsBest headset I've ever owned

Pros: -Excellent range
-8 hours battery (continuous usage)
-Comfortable for long periods of time
-Charge while using
-Sound quality

Cons: No VOIP buttons
Slow charging off USB
Somewhat heavy
Build quality leaves a little to be desired

Overall Review: I work in a call center, and needed something to block out the sound of the office around me so I could focus on my customers. This accomplishes that quite well with the added benefit of being able to pipe music in as well. I use these all day, every day.

I have the dongle mounted on the divider of my cubicle so it's up about chest height, and I can get nearly 100 feet away without even line of sight before it starts cutting out intermittently.

The battery lasts 8 hours before the warning tone starts beeping in my ear. Every day, without fail. However, you can plug the headset in to charge while using them with no disruption.

Also with the microfiber/memory foam & magic that they've made the ear cups out of with these, they are super comfortable all day. My ears don't get hot. It's also very comfortable with my glasses. Though, I admit it is a little heavy after a while.

The sound quality is awesome. I watch movies on my lunch breaks and listen to music most of the day, sometimes cranked pretty loud. It has punchy bass that isn't overwhelming of the mids as well as strong highs that aren't piercing. Some of my customers have even mentioned that I sound more "full" than most of my colleagues, and they're on $300 Plantronics headsets.

My only major gripe, especially being in a call center, is the lack of an "answer" button. This does have a volume knob on the headset, which is handy. But this could really use a answer/disconnect button and a mute button would be nice. Especially since the range is good enough to get far enough away to miss a phone call (Super bad juju in a call center...).

Though it charges a bit slow off the USB, it can completely power from the USB so you don't have to worry about it dying.

My mic, after a solid 6 months X 45 hrs a week of use, is getting a little loose. Apparently you can open these up and tighten the screw and it's fine. But it's worth mentioning. I've also read that the headband is prone to cracking where the ear cups mount if you're too rough. I always hold the band above this point to put them on, and I've had no problems.

In the end, if you have the cash for this headset, get it. You won't regret it.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother Corsair fail

Pros: Cool looking, comfortable.

Cons: Stopped working after 3 days of use. Returning to vendor asap. I cannot believe I took another chance with a Corsair product. Have one of their led gaming keyboards with 12 led's out. Gaming mouse with faulty software so I can not program the extra buttons and a Corsair power supply that was DOA right out of the box and they charged me $30 to send it back for a replacement.

Overall Review: Never again.

4 out of 5 eggshow to fix hiss

Pros: Strong mic

Cons: Almost to strong, see other comments to fix it

Overall Review: The mic is default to really sensitive and has a playback so you can hear yourself but that hiss does not normally transmit over the computer. So to fix the "hiss" just change mic sensitivity to a comfortable level and say good bye to the hiss.

3 out of 5 eggshigh hopes but too late

Pros: great headset, amazing sound.

Cons: i had this headset bought last year in July 2014, wasnt able to use it till this year, since i didnt have internet.. havent had any problems with anything i bought off of newegg till now. last night was the first time i took it out of the box hooked it up and installed the drivers. worked great, only used it for approx. an hour, then went to bed. when i got on the next day the usb adapter wouldnt sync with the headsets, the light was flickering like it was shorting. So i uninstalled the drivers and tried again, only this time my computer is telling me there is something wrong with the device.. Awesome cant return it since its been over a month only got to use it for maybe a hour :(. headset works but cant use it since its wifi and my wifi adapter isnt working...

Overall Review: i would be happy if i could just get another usb adapter, but dont know if its going to happen :(

2 out of 5 eggsUnhappy

Pros: It's wireless with virtual 7.1 surround. It has a decent mic and was on sale at the time of purchase for a few bucks off.

Cons: I get a lot of feedback making the wireless function garbage. I sent the item back maybe 3 weeks after purchase for an RMA 2 months later more feedback. Stay away, it's just not worth the money.

Overall Review: As nice as the surround is, the grating static feedback is enough to make me loathe this headset. I'm getting a sound card and using my Koss headphones for 7.1 I will never buy another Corsair headset again. This doesn't mean I dislike Corsair, they make plenty of great quality PC items, but this is not one of them.

1 out of 5 eggsI would not recommend.

Pros: Sound is okay. Mic is pretty good.

Cons: Squeals, hisses, bulky, hurts my ears, cuts off a lot, randomly turns off while squealing, randomly turns off in general, doesn't charge, doesn't tell me how charged it is, I'll charge it all night and it will only stay on for 5 minutes, IT BROKE WITHIN 2 MONTHS.

Overall Review: I would expect this from a headset that's 15 dollars. Not from something I paid over $100 for. It broke within 2 months, I thought it was just a bit of a phase and it would pass but no, it hurts my ears and it wont even turn on now. I honestly wont be buying from corsair again. I do not recommend this product.

Cons: Battery life could improve.

3 out of 5 eggsNot good quality

Pros: -Wireless
-Good Sound

Cons: -To me kind of bulky. I look like one of those guys directing planes

-Does not last 10 hours as advertised. At most 3 hours then it starts beeping for me to plug it in and charge it.

-Probably the most important. I believe the material to construct this product is of cheap plastic. This is actual my second unit. The first one I had, a crack appeared and eventually the ear piece broke off. Sent off back to Corsair and they replaced it. Had it for a few months and the same thing started to happen again. First a crack appeared. Then the ear piece became loose again. A piece of plastic came off, then finally the ear piece broke off again. For something that cost $100, you think better material would be used to construct this product. I almost feel cheated.

Overall Review: Obviously Im no longer buying this product from Corsair. Im sure they are a good memory manufacture (I dont use them) but as far as headsets, there are far better products.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh,Not the Best

Pros: The sound quality is really nice. The price is not that bad. NO CHORD to get in your way. Nice volume control on the unit itself. The range is nice.

Cons: They are heavy. They take FOREVER to charge, and only last half that time. The software only works, in wireless mode. Does not always pair up to the wireless unit that comes with it.

Overall Review: You will have no sound when charging the headset. The unit needs to be set as your default sound for it to work. So if you use external speakers off a soundcard, then your speakers will not turn on automaticly when unit is charging. Unless you change your default settings with each use for sound.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We're sorry that you're unsatisfied with your headset. It is odd to see that your headset doesn't always pair up with the dongle, and it's very possible that you recieved a bad unit. 2 out of 5 eggsWorks but very uncomfortable

Pros: Not really sure

Cons: Feels cheap, very stiff and uncomfortable. Takes nearly four hours to charge before you can use them, and the sound quality is so-so.

Not sure why these are rated so high....I can usually trust consumer ratings but not this time. I am returning these and buying a different headset.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid COMPLETELY

Pros: Great sound quality and directional sound

Cons: Constant and loud hiss that continues.

Overall Review: I grabbed this from a local store for about 90 dollars and turned around and returned the same day. There was a hissing/buzzing/white noise that simply would not go away. It would leave and come back. I found out it's their drivers not the hardware that causes this. Unless you can live with PSSHHHH for every moment you are wearing these headphones I would look into another company.

3 out of 5 eggsQuiet mic, solid construction

Pros: Well built, good sound quality. Battery life was acceptable - I was able to use it for 5+ hours at a time, continuous music and regular use of voice input. Microphone input quality was good (though input level was not - see below)

Cons: Mic input is very quiet. I was unable to adjust the mic input levels to satisfy the people on the other end of voice chat. Even with the boom bent all the way to my lips (which makes it uncomfortable to flip up), it was still just too quiet, even with all input settings on maximum.

Sound is a bit boomy.

Lack of EQ control software on Mac, and the Windows EQ control software is a little hokey.

Overall Review: Circumaural fit was not comfortable for me. That's just a personal thing.

1 out of 5 eggslast time i'll be buying a corsair headset

Pros: the sound quality(when you can hear sound) is great. unfortunately that's the only thing positive i can say about this headset

Cons: Frequently loses connection to the dongle, at least once a minute. Microphone was quiet, and the quality of the mic was not good either (friends on mumble said they could barely understand me).

Overall Review: corsair should probably stick to making memory. at least they can do that right.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as Good as Expected

Pros: Wireless with good range. Good frequency response. Virtual surround works pretty well. Mic sounds good.

Cons: I found them rather uncomfortable. The ear cups are smaller than I expected, and my pretty average sized ears were a tight fit. The wireless signal causes a hissing noise. It is barely audible when there isn't any sound playing. It becomes much louder whenever any sound is being played and for a few seconds after the sound stops. This hissing is a noticeable in the background of whatever you're trying to listen too, and it is a real nuisance.

Overall Review: I already own the Vengeance 1500 v2 headset, which, spec-wise, is the same thing only wired. I wanted a wireless headset, so the 2100 seemed like a no-brainer. However, the earcups are smaller on the 2100, the batteries make it noticeably heavier, and in general its not as comfortable. Add in the hissing noise specific to the wireless version, and the 2100 is significantly worse than its wired sibling.

3 out of 5 eggsCould be better, could be worse

Pros: Good build quality and materials
Comfortable upper pad
Good mic audio quality
Easy to plug and play
Battery life seems decent. Haven't died on me yet but the longest I've used them was about 5 hours.
Audio quality 7/10

Cons: Ear cups are too small for my big head. Ears start to hurt after a few hours of use

Personally I don't like the cloth pads.

Microphone is very low. I was able to overcome this in the VIOP I use but in most games people can't hear me

Has a slight constant feeback on mic. You can't hear it unless you have no other sound going.

Every now and they I get awful distortion in the sound. I have the usb wireless connector on the front of my computer, so I'm not sure what would be causing the interference. This is my first wireless headset so I can't be positive if its the hardware itself or the environment.

Overall Review: I got these to replace my older Roccat Kaves.

I am a huge fan of Corsair, as I currently have a tower, ram, power supply, and SSD with my current build. Its all been very high quality, and I believe when they come out with an updated model they with probably solve most of these small issues that can be contributed to their lack of experience in the audio headset world. I wouldn't hesitate to get a set of newer ones when they come out if the ear cup was bigger.

At the end of the day the smaller cup design is the deciding factor for why I cannot continue to use these.

Pros: Noise canceling

Cons: Hurts ear after a while of use.

Overall Review: Overall great headphones and a decent price.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks great, when it works

Pros: Decent sound quality
Fair Range
Battery length is adequate
Surprisingly good microphone

Cons: Audio drops constantly. Used to be once or twice a day, now the headset's almost unusable, connects for less than a second at a time.

Overall Review: The headset is very good, but it has some serious functional issues that lead me to believe this is not a good headset for the money. At the time of this review, it has been 8 months since the last driver update, yet no fix. The forums are full of people complaining and asking for help, with practically zero support.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Sound

Pros: Great sound, durable and not cheaply made, look great, feel great, wireless connection is never lost, software is user friendly.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I had to buy these from another source today because I couldn't wait for them to be shipped. Otherwise, I would have bought from Newegg. The headphones are really nice looking and sound great. The 7.1 is perfect. I play NFS Rivals and SWTOR and I hear so many new sounds now. I highly recommend these. They are not cheaply made. The head band is strong and the cans fit nicely over my ears blocking out outside noises. I really like that the cushions are made of a velvet like material and really soft. I have already had them on for more than 4 hours and forgot I was wearing them. The wireless connection is also a great feature. I have not lost connection as I was with the Logitech g930's I had. The software that you can install is really user friendly and has some pretty good presets you can use as well. If you are in the market for an average priced headset go for these. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsIts like a pillow for my ears

Pros: This product has great sound quality, even for the microphone. You can actually feel the high crisp sounds and the low bass through your head. The ear pads are the most comfortable I've seen. I did a LAN with a few friends recently, and had the headset on for almost 12 hours straight. With my old headset my ears would get uncomfortable after maybe 4-5 hours of gameplay, but with this one, I haven't even felt uncomfortable at all since the day I got them. It is wireless, which is great for me since I tend to get stuck in my cables. The physical quality is what you would expect from Corsair products : Professionnal and classy looking, and a very sturdy structural build.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I can hear footsteps pretty far away when playing Counter Strike :)

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing sound, great battery life, Mac compatible

Pros: - Great sound
- Great Battery life
- Great Software (for Windows, anyway)
- Works well with toggling between computers (such as on a USB switch)
- Comfortable for my head
- Surprisingly light weight
- Mac Compatible
- Can get very loud (though still sounds good)
- USB!
- Very robust design
- Incredibly good price for what they are

Cons: - No Mac Software (though listed as "mac compatible", which it is otherwise), therefore no 7.1 sound on Mac

Overall Review: I just got a roommate so I needed some headphones for gaming/movies/whatever. I also have a USB switch and a 2 computer setup including a Mac. I use my USB switch and it quickly detects in Windows and Mac, without hardware emulation (basically a "dumb" switch).

I don't have a ton of experience with headphones but I tried some Gamecon wired headphones to have a basis for comparison. These edged out those pretty easily in a lot of respects including bass and comfort. I was not expecting them to be so light considering they were battery powered.

I am happy with the battery life but I keep them wired to USB (note the USB port is for power ONLY, requires wireless dongle for audio) so as to not wear out the battery. These headphones feel like they will last a very long time.

Make sure you enable 7.1 audio in the software after you install it. Corsair software is not intrusive but gives you a task-bar icon. You may want to tinker with the equalizer in the software. You can make your own presets but it comes with some good ones by default.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT HEADSET!

Pros: -7.1 Surround Sound. GREAT for listening to music and gaming, with awesome quality.
-Great price point for a wireless 7.1 headset IMO. Picked mine up for 86.99.
-Very Comfortable
-Nice Design
-Feels like high quality materials, very sturdy
-Cloth ear cups. In my past experiences I have had leather ear cups and decided to go with cloth this time around.

Cons: -None

Overall Review: -The volume wheel on the headset controls the system audio, not its own volume. Didnt list this as a con for myself, but I can see other people not liking this feature so I figured I would list it.
-Download the equalizer software from corsair.com to change between stereo, 5.1, and 7.1 surround sound.
-A little bit heavier, but no big deal to me. I was using a Turtle Beach PX21 heasdet before this one, and this one is a million times more comfortable, even though there is added weight.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Quality

Pros: Sound quality from this product is pretty good, you do not notice that they are wireless as the person listening to them on the other end. You can charge and use them at the same time, just simply plug in the cable and it works.

Cons: Another friend of mine bought these, and he was having some quality control issues, where if he shook his head there was a part that was rattling around. He simply returned them for another one and all was right with the world. 1/3 bad products is still not a great Failure to Thrive ratio.

Overall Review: I bought these for a friend of mine, so I'm giving this review from the other end of the TeamSpeak server. I'm the guy listening to him talk and I have the say, the quality is quite good. He was using a Wireless Logitec headset before, and the some quality is the same, no better no worse. I have Corsair Speakers (SP2500) and I love them, that's why I got them for my mate so that he could convert to Corsair from Logitec. He says that he loves them, my other friend that got a bad headset loves them after he got a pair with no issues. They also did not report any of the hissing problems that I've read about in some of the other reviews, so I assume that this was fixed in their current firmware.

Pros: great full sound, good wireless range i get about 30 feet through wallss as well, good battery life average 8 hours consistently, no broken parts after 1 year daily use.

Cons: none

Overall Review: I bought this as a mixed use device for taking voip calls and for gaming chat and sorround sound its has performed flwalessly in both areas, never had a single issue, probably my favorite feature is the option to rotate the mike up for muteing. I have had nothing but compliements from other online gamers as to the crisp clarity of my voice and the lack of background noise when i am speaking, it has been compared numerous times on mumble and teamspeak with other players with much more expensive setups and the sound on chat is consistent with theirs. most days i wear this 8 hours do to also using for work, and its is extremly comfortable as well.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well 98% of the time

Pros: Great sound, does well for fps and MMO pvp sound, music was ok
Charge time and battery life are very nice, lasting 8+ hours on a 2 hour charge

Cons: Sound cuts out for 2 to 5 seconds intermittently no matter sound source, game, itunes, media player, etc.

Overall Review: I really do enjoy the noise cancellation they offer as my wife can watch tv in the same room and I barely hear it. As well she can not tell how loud the headset is unlike my old one.

2 out of 5 eggsNot bad, not good

Pros: Great sound quality for the price and for being wireless

Cons: White noise - I'm not sure if it's because it's a USB headset or just because of the drivers (software and physical), but there is white noise in the background of the headset. This noise is beyond irritating, even when absolutely no audio is present on a computer simply having the headset turned on initiates the noise.

I've noticed this is an issue with (nearly?) all USB headsets, maybe the power through the USB plug makes noise on the audio line, but this doesn't exactly make sense for a wireless headset.

Either way, it's a big no for something that you listen to things on.

Overall Review: Had a heck of a clamp, my head around my ears was physically sore to the touch and was even in pain at some points. I know after a break-in period it would be okay but... whew lemme tell yah...

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Vengeance 2100

Pros: Excellent sound in game plus music as well, with nice equalizer to suit any user. Very good directional awareness.
Excellent quality mic with a swing away boom that mutes mic.
Batteries last several hours of constant gaming, with a low battery (beep warning). Can be plugged in to charge while in use.(very handy)
Very comfortable ear pads.(does not cause you to perspire like other headsets)
Different color lights to notify what level of charging.

Cons: A bit pricey, but having them for a little over a month now they have proven to be worth the money.

Overall Review: Sound levels must be amplified cause it takes a bit of fine tuning sound levels in game.(not bad, just a reminder to turn down your master volumes in game sound by 50% before starting).

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: *sound quality is fantastic
*comfortable

Cons: *it doesn't breath enough on the ears but in a cool room it doesn't matter
*the plastic is the CHEAPEST material ever, the plastic parts began to break after 3 months of owning it from only taking it off and putting it on, luckily loctite plastic glue fixed the issue. if you want to prevent the breaks before they happen unscrew all the plastic parts and put this glue in the hollow spots and then reseal it quickly before it sets, it should increase the durability.
* the absolute worst feature is the charging port on the headset, I've had phones with the same port and these are the worse ports that can be used on any electronic because of their tendency to to get loose to the point a connection to the charger cant even be made, it starts to lose the firmness of its connection after about 6 months and in a year you are lucky to even get it to charge

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Headset for the Cost

Pros: Wireless and has a great battery life. (+1 star)
Great sound headphones with decent Dolby surround (+1 star)
Microphone produces decent sound (+1 star)
Easy charging and USB extension if necessary (+1/2 star)
Simple setup (+1/2 star)

Cons: No option to flip headset to put microphone on right side (-1/2 star)
Changing volume while talking makes for loud ticking/clicking/vibrating sound on receiving end (-1/2 star)
Can get sweaty ears during long periods of use (-0 star as it is circumaural)

Overall Review: Had to replace my first one as the left ear was producing about 50% of the normal sound but other than that little hiccup (which Newegg was totally awesome during the RMA) everything is great. Totally worth the cost and I am loving them as I am going from wired to wireless sound.

3 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: Wireless
Comfortable

Cons: White Noise (Background Noise)
Causes headaches from background noise
Mic isn't too adjustable

Overall Review: I absolutely hate the whitenoise that this gives off. I have heard from other people that its giving off white noise for them as well. I have tried different drivers to no avail.

5 out of 5 eggsComfy, Good mic quality

Pros: -Not fake plastic, comfy furniture like material
-Fits on head well and is adjustable
-Mic mutes when you put it all the way up
-Volume control spin wheel which is easy to access and use
-Seems to last a good while on a single charge

Cons: I think I might have preferred the mic to be detachable and a mute button instead of the headset muting when the mic is all the way up. It is kind of a nuisance to keep putting the mic up and down to mute.

Overall Review: Seems solid so far, good price for a well made wireless headset.

3 out of 5 eggsThey're OK

Pros: Not tethered to a cord 100% of the time
Nice physical design
The earcups turn flat to set on your desk, which is a nice touch
Good but not great 7.1 audio in games like Battlefield 4 (BF4)

Cons: They crash. I kid you not. Google "corsair vengeance solid amber light". Last night I plugged these in to charge while using them, and my headphones locked up. There is something wrong with the firmware in these things that causes them to stop working. The only fix is to let the battery run out and recharge them. This can take a few hours to all night, depending.

It is really annoying when you've minimized the clutter in your life down to one pair of cordless headphones. They're you're stuck without audio or communication abilities.

Battery life is 8-10 hours, wish it was 2-3 times that.

To Corsair: If you respond, I want to know exactly why this happens. It was a problem with your Corsair Vengeance 2000 series headsets and clearly was not fixed in the Corsair Vengeance 2100 series. I do not accept that "replacing" these with a new pair would fix the problem. Either this is a firmware bug or a certain subset of your devices are flawed, and I would like to know the cause before troubleshooting in the dark.

1 out of 5 eggsanother failure

Pros: it fits well.

Cons: it already broke; wouldn't turn off, after running out of battery, won't turn on. before that, while charging it had a feedback hum louder than the microphone pickup itself, both while charging and just by having anything (face, hands, whatever) near the microphone.

Overall Review: didn't have this issue with my vengeance 2000. what that headset DID have was a structural problem causing it (like everyone else's) headset frame to disintegrate within months.

why is it so hard for someone to make a good wireless headset? not one that I can find is ultimately satisfactory.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny

Pros: Great sound quality
Excellent range and battery life

Cons: No "macro" buttons
No microphone mute button

Overall Review: Excellent headset for the price. Range is huge compared to the Logitech G930 I previously owned. Mic quality is perfect for my needs (games, teamspeak, and streaming). The device charges fast and lasts a long time. Thankfully the low battery alarm is subtle and not "in your face" like the Logitech is.

The biggest thing with this headset that stands out from the G930 is that when you set it to surround it stays there, it doesn't switch back and forth based on what it detects.

The only drawback on this headset is the lack of buttons. I would love at least one programmable button for push-to-talk and/or play/pause for music and a microphone mute button. When away from the computer I have to use voice activation and to mute the mic I have to move the boom up. Everyone in the channel hears the boom clicking to that position unfortunately.

9/10 will buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT! but with minor annoyance

Pros: -Wired/wireless options
-Great build
-Great sound and mic
-Great software
-Easy volume adjust on the side
-very light; I have used these for 6+ hours and it feels great
-replaceable soft ear pads which some headsets don't offer. (sold directly from Corsair for when your pads are dirty from sweat)

Cons: -the mic is a tad long
-VERY VERY slight static sound coming from the right side when you use this while charging or in wired mode.

Overall Review: The range is great. From the upstairs bathroom and was still great wroking but moving down stairs, say to the kitchen, might cut off some part of the music. The good thing is if it does lose connection it will find it. It also auto power off if there isn't a connection for what I would say is 5 mins. Great for when you forget to manually turn off. The method of charging the headset is simple with the micro USB. Its the same type of connection as a phone charger so I have the cord now on my front for both charging the headset or when I need to recharge my phone.

The one thing that annoys me is the mic is long. When you try to flip up the mic out of the way, it will hit the headband on the top and when you try to rest the ear cups flat, it will hit the top part so have to be careful when setting it down. Also the VERY slight static sound coming from the right side when you use this while charging or in wired mode. Its just an annoyance but its no problem if you are listening to something.

This headset is a 9/10 in my books. Gladly recommend this over any gaming wireless headset near the $100 mark.

4 out of 5 eggsNice headset.

Pros: Wireless headsets are awesome for convenience when gaming. The charge holds for a ridiculous amount of time and you can still use them when plugged in. I did not have any issues with this set humming or hissing like others did, even when charging.

Audio quality is pretty decent for a wireless gaming grade headset. Thumpy bass and nice high trebles. Microphone sound quality is pretty amazing. If you watched the Linus TechTips review on this headset, he must have been doing something really funky, cause this headset is crystal clear. Make sure you tweak your windows recording settings up to CD quality instead of the default. Really comfortable to wear and has good noise isolation.

Cons: First off I returned my first headset which I wrote a previous review on. It had a loose left driver that rattled like crazy. Secondly I returned this headset as well. It did not have anything to do with the headset in particular though which is why I am giving it a good review. For most people this headset would be a great choice.

I bought up a bunch of wired and wireless headsets to find the best one in terms of convenience and audio quality. In the end it came down to two headsets, this one and the AKG Q701. I was ready to keep this one because of the wireless and mic.

The AKG Q701 had AMAZING audio quality though that made all my other headphones sound like muffled garbage, even the Sennheiser 558. They just lacked bass impact. I was ready to send them back and keep these Corsairs for the rumbling (read rattling) bass, wireless-ness, and built in mic, but then I made a bass mod to the Q701 by removing the bass dampener sticker over the bass port and voila! Amazing studio/reference grade audio quality and thumpy yet accurate bass. Played some Battlefield 4 with them and was blown away at the audio accuracy and sense of immersion (even in "plain stereo" the Q701 annihilated any "surround sound" headphones I've heard in terms of feeling like I was there), then boxed these Corsairs back up.

Part of me will me will miss them though, being wireless and having a mic... but the AKG Q701 was THAT good after modification.

Overall Review: I you think you will like these, order them, I promise they won't disappoint you, especially if you get them on sale for $99. Don't do what I did and open the Pandora's box of studio grade audiophile headphones... or you will never be able to go back.

Pros: This is my first wireless headset. I am very impressed. They are super comfy. I'm a big gamer, they sound fantastic in Battlefield 4.

Cons: Little hard to wear with glasses.

Overall Review: I don't know what this "hum" is other people are talking about. Mine is totally silent while charging.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't buy if using wi-fi

Pros: I've owned and used these for about eight months, give or take:

-Comfortable; easy to wear for long periods
-7.1 works well enough that sounds are identifiable as "rear" (remember: the game must support surround sound for this to work properly...)

-The battery doesn't seem to have lost much capacity since I first used them--they still go for 8-10 hours

-The microphone works well enough

Cons: -Wi-Fi interference. Often, my Wi-Fi signal is instantly dropped from 50 mbps to 2-3 mbps the moment I turn the headphones on. When I turn the headphones off, 50 mbps resumes. (Repositioning the receiver doesn't make a difference.) Corsair advertises 2.4 GHz as space-age technology (see the blurb on the box...it's priceless), but as we know, everything on the face of The Earth uses 2.4. If you want to use these headphones and Wi-Fi simultaneously without interference, you're most likely going to need to buy a 5 GHz router. (p.s. this has nothing to do with congestion or other devices on the network; I'm not in an apartment complex)

-Range: I can get about 15 feet (through a wall with no insulation within it) before the signal breaks up and disconnects. Often, when the phones reconnect, I lose Wi-Fi (assuming I was able to get both to work simultaneously in the first place). In short, as long as you stay within a small room, the signal should remain intact.

-Distortion, distortion, and more distortion. Anyone who says otherwise is simply deaf; the slightest bit of bass causes massive distortion, and it's awful. This doesn't seem to be improved by reducing the bass EQ sliders (which I'm not going to do, regardless, as that defeats the purpose of using huge headphones, does it not?)

-Hissing in background near 4KHz (defeatable by reducing the EQ slider to minimum, though obviously, that will destroy treble response)

-Bass is weak for "can" headphones, even with EQ sliders all the way up

--Often, when I plug the phones into the PC for charging, the volume is bizarrely reduced while using other audio sources (default audio not set to headphones). Very strange, and very annoying. This also occurs while using the phones and switching between 2.0, 5.1, and 7.1; the resolution is to switch back and forth until the "supposed to be" volume level returns. Annoying.

--Default audio must be switched every time one wants to use the phones. Sure, we can blame Windows for this, but can't a macro be included in the code that does this for us automatically when the phones are activated?

Overall Review: I can't recommend the phones for the above "cons." In my experience, using the phones substantially interferes with Wi-Fi, they don't sound particularly good (hissing/distortion/weak bass response), and range is very poor. I continue to use them only because the 7.1 is accurate, and positional audio is very important while gaming.

Corsair, get these off 2.4 GHz, or add something to the software that allows channel adjustment; the auto-adjustment that is claimed simply doesn't work (in my experience), and the phones most definitely, positively interfere, massively, with Wi-Fi reception. Fix the hissing problem that goes back to the 2000 line (from what I've read, it's a driver issue). Fix the distortion problem that is most likely related to the hissing problem (gain is simply way too high, and cannot be adjusted). Keep the style and fit...they're so comfortable that I have literally forgotten that they were on my head (numerous times). :)

2 out of 5 eggsHissssssssssssss...

Pros: - comfortable
- long range
- good quality sound
- good base

Cons: Hissing. All the time. The forums for Corsair are full of it complaints about it too, with no solution. When you turn them on, you can hear a constant hiss, like the sound of a microphone feedback in an empty room. If you mute windows, or stop a song long enough, the hiss goes away (I think it causes the headset to "sleep" and save it's battery until the pc notifies it of more noises). But playing music or watching shows...the hiss is always there, but it hisses "less" when audio, of any kind or volume, is played. Weird. I think I am going to return them and get my money back.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid!

Pros: -Excellent audio, both for gaming and music (listening to music as we speak, really enjoying these)
-Great bass response, using "audiophile 2" preset
-Really comfy, almost as good as the Steelseries siberia v2, which i had before i got these
-Great microphone. I don't think it can compare to some of the studio mics that are out there, but a friend of mine has a Blue Yeti studio microphone and i would say it is almost as good as the yeti
-Solid, hinges doesn't crack like the 2000s (at least not yet)
-Looks great, i think we could all agree on that one
-Earcups swivel, so you can wear them around your neck and rest them on your chest like a baws
-Crisp and clear highs, you hear everything like it's supposed to be heard
-Good battery life, I get 8 hours of heavy use
-Good wireless range and response time (I can listen to music while in the kitchen, which is around 30-35 feet away with 3 walls between it and my computer)
-Good isolation from outside noise (even though they're not supposed to be good in this area, it filters a lot of the outside noise without acting like suction cups like some isolation headphones/headsets do
-Volume wheel. Some people says it's not placed right and that you bump it when plugging in the charger. It's true, but you hit it when you want to. Just take them off when inserting the charger cable.
-Lightweight (heavier than the siberia headset, but kind of in a good way? Not too heavy though)
-Not real surround, but it works pretty good compared to other simulated surround headsets. I personally use stereo 2.0 while gaming, but it's fun to mess around with the settings. And yes, you get some echo when using the surround. Not much though.

Cons: I haven't encountered any yet, see what other people post :)

Overall Review: I love this headset, get it if you want it. Wireless is usually a drawback, but not here (unless on a lan party, but i don't go to those huge gatherings). It's worth every cent.

To Lalo:
Yeah, they push the release date. But this unconfirmed date thing is really just to keep the customers from going to another store and getting their stuff. Wait until it's in stock.

4 out of 5 eggsWhat I Wanted.

Pros: -durable
-good enough sound for me
-charge good enough
-allows mobility
-lasted me for two years
-microphone has good sound quality

Cons: - if you unplug them and turn them off at the same time there is a chance they will freeze, in which case you will have to wait for the battery to die before using them again, this has only happened to me twice but was still annoying.
-after a long time of using them the microphone has no hold and will slip down in use, have to use a penny to hold it in place.

Overall Review: -Will get Sony MDRs for next headset when these break, but are still going strong and don't seem to be getting close to breaking, i am very pleased with this headset.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat headset overall!

Pros: - Amazing sound for both gaming and music.
- Great microphone quality.
- Comfortable.
- Very easy to use.
- The volume scroll wheel on the side and it's capability of being wireless is very useful.
- Microphone ignores a lot of the background noise.

Cons: - When the microphone is too far from my mouth, my voice would be very quiet and others would have a difficult time hearing me, causing me to either bend the microphone closer to my mouth or use a separate mic.
- I recommend a windscreen due to the "boom" sound that the microphone picks up.

Overall Review: I've had these headphones for longer than a year now and they are very great headphones overall.

1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE

Pros: Sounds good, when they work

Cons: Audio cuts out, 2 feet from the transmitter - frequently - these have always been bugged. Both sets. I truly believe Corsair enjoys making garbage products. We will stay far far away from this brand in the future. Poor design. Poor QA. Consistent across their product line as of late.

Overall Review: What happened to your company? The Corsair brand used to be the earmark of high quality. Not anymore.

1 out of 5 eggsUpset and disappointed

Pros: It's wireless.
I really enjoy the design.
The headset is extremely comfortable, Just wished it rested a little tighter around the ears.

Cons: Well for starters. This did not come with any sort of instructions. And unbeknownst to me it was refurbished, which I do not remember seeing any sort of notification that it would be in the first place. Considering how much I was paying, I fully expected a brand-new head set. I was wrong to expect so.

2. The right headset speaker is lose and cackles as soon as I go to use the headset, if I move the headset I hear what appears to be a connecting type sound in the headset, as in a physical connection being reestablished because the cackle goes away and the sound is fine. That was annoying to find right away.

3. Then, because of no instruction booklet, I was forced to scour the internet when, on my second day of use, the headset refused to pair with the dongle. I attempted moving to several different USB. After seeing notification the software was successfully installed, it still would not pair. Go to search devices to find it has installed itself as Avnera AV7300. I know this has been an issue in the past as I found other users who have encountered the same issue.

4. When I found an FAQ about manually pairing, I go to follow instructions only to find that this "recessed pairing button" mentioned in the FAQ DOES NOT EXIST in the dongle. So it seems like it was not refurbished properly, or they forgot to install this button because shining a light where the button is supposed to be reveals an empty spot and I can see inside the dongle.

Overall Review: I have not had a headset for quite sometime because my other Creative Alpha pair broke after two sets of them broke the same exact way. Faulty production it would seem. SO I was pumped to try this Corsair product after choosing them over Logitech's Wireless option. I am not impressed. I looked into the seller's review to discover many other very unhappy customers with various issues.

Needless to say. I will be leaving this same review on their Newegg section as well as emailing Newegg to inquire about getting a new pair from a different seller.

Edit: It would appear that the item is out of stock. great.

5 out of 5 eggs2000 vs. 2100

Pros: Great headset for PC gaming, music and movies
durable joints
Dolby Pro Logic IIx certification
Deep bass without distortions

Cons: Not true Dolby 7.1
Two speakers

Overall Review: I’ve owned the Corsair Vengeance 2000 (the prior edition of this headset) for just over a year now, and it’s been a great headset for PC gaming, music and movies. But it had one known flaw: the hinges/swivel points (joints) were weak, which caused many of them to break. Thankfully this never happened to me, but it was a big enough of a concern for Corsair to come out with a replacement headset.

The new one, this 2100, has few differences from the 2000, but the most important is the redesigned and more durable joints. There’s also the all dark look over the previous chrome and the all new Dolby Pro Logic IIx certification (although that was added to the 2000 as well). Both use a micro USB cable for charging (which I prefer over the more dated mini USB that other headsets still use).

It’s important to note that these are not true Dolby 7.1 (or even 5.1) headsets. They are stereo headsets with two 50mm drivers. Meaning two speakers, one for each ear. Not multiple speakers like some other gaming headphones use. Instead, the Corsair Vengeance relies on Xear software to emulate surround sound. Keep in mind that this software doesn’t come in the box, so you’ll need to download it from Corsair'’s website. You can plug the headset in and rely on Window’s Plug and Play drivers, but the headphones will only achieve stereo sound by doing so. Therefore, I strongly suggest installing the Corsair' software. The nice thing about running in software is that you can more easily tweak the sound settings to your liking.

The 2100 can produce good deep bass without distortions, but the sealed-back earcups aren’t the best at blocking external noise. The battery lasts for around 10 hours, and can be charged while wearing.

Overall, both the 2000 and 2100 are great headsets to own. If you have a chance to chose between them, I’d recommend the 2100 if only for the more sturdy build.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound but..

Cons: ... Mic way to sensitive, lots of white noise bad for recording.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price

Pros: - 2.0/5.1/7.1 audio sources
- Decent quality mic for a headset
- Bass is not too overpowering and delivers very well with music. Not as well with games, but not bad.
- $80 (though you'll probably be getting the H2100)
- As someone who can play a game for over 10 hours; The battery life lasts as long as advertised.
- Can use Micro USB to USB cord with my phone

Cons: - Production quality is a little lacking
- A piece broke inside the headset that is supposed to keep the mic where you want it vertically. So now it just drops down willy-nilly.
- Uses Micro USB to USB recharge cord

Overall Review: Dolby Pro Logic 2x toggle in the software makes the sound very tin-canny. But, honestly, unless you're an uber audiophile(in which you probably won't go for this headset anyways), you can get used to it easily without it bothering you.

Software sometimes crashes without any notification. Custom equalizer profiles will sometimes delete/disappear after restarting your system. (In other thoughts due to having nothing to do with the hardware side of things)

7.1, even 5.1, will not work *properly* with all games. This would be on the developers side of things. You'll get your surround sound but not everything you hear will be where it actually is unless the game supports surround sound.

All the corsair letters on either side of the headset came off easily.

Pros: The sound is good (when is work) and the range is enough for me. No usb cable is a great sensation when I am gaming. the price is low for a wireless headset

Cons: The battery time is really not long and the headset always connection problem or interference. Sometime I sound like a robot on skype.

Overall Review: I will never buy an other corsair headset

1 out of 5 eggsLots of issues

Pros: When its working fine it's a good headset with decent sound quality and the mic sounds good too.

Cons: I have issues with the headset randomly losing connection even though the wireless receiver is literally placed right on my desk in front of me. Sometimes it will sit there an constantly disconnect and reconnect over and over for 30-60 seconds straight and it always seems to cut out at the worse times. If I could go back in time I would not purchase this again and would've went with the wireless Logitech or wired one again which lasted me a couple years before I broke it.

Overall Review: I would suggest perhaps looking at the Logitech wireless headset instead.

Pros: They almost had a lot going for them. The range is good, they're comfortable. Physically, they're great, but that's where it stops

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair Vengance 2100

Pros: The Corsair vengance 2100 is a very well rounded headset
ive had it for about 9 months now , it sounds great, but its the only "headset" i've ever had(i would not know compartively speaking). you can defintly tell where people are and how many, i was somewhat expecting that the sound quality, and weight would differ per ear, but i had problems telling them apart and would sometimes not know until i was in game and hearing my teammates in confusing posisitons! on comfortability, ive slept in them and woke up still comfortable however they do not go well with hats, i wear them around the house to listen to music while i do things, on noise cancelation, i could hear other people if they meant to be heard, but if they where not talking with their "firm" voice i had a somewhat hard time hearing or understanding them, of course depending on the volume it was at. THE BUILD QUALITY IS EXTREMELY HIGH, at a time i was running up stairs outside of my house( around 30 feet away from computer (wireless range)), i slipped on ice and smacked my head, the headset flew off my head and on to the ground and survived without a scratch or dent, as far as i could tell didnt even stop playing music
battery life, around 8 hours id say, but never had a chance to time them, also obviously depended on volume of sound and the pitch

Cons: Cons - The charging port is mini usb, the only reason i am not using the corsair vengance 2100 anymore is because the charging port broke, when i had them fixed the port was reinstalled incorectly and the port slid back and snapped the motherboard pins, otherwise i would still be using them, THIS IS NOT CORSAIRS FAULT IT IS MINE
but i do wish that in the future corsair would use the new usb 3 C
becouse it is rotationally symetricall and it would have saved my headset

Overall Review: 10/10 if not for the charging cable, still very good and i bought the same one (only wired) as a replacement

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair Vengeance 2100 Happy Owner

Pros: - Comfortable ear padding big enough to fit around my ears.
- With a bit of tinkering within the software's equalizer settings, a satisfactory amount of bass, mids and highs collectively are outputted from the large 50mm driver.
- Two days of 20 hour heavy session use before next charge.
- Better performing mic than expected.
- Simple volume rocker in the form of a studded-feeling, cylindrical shape.
- Satisfactory price to performance ratio
- Mediocre distance achieved whilst utilizing the wireless dongle.
- Comfortable padding under the headband giving no problems in the long wear use.

Cons: - Rotating joints between the headband and fork piece conjoining the actual speakers are slightly flimsy. Paranoia causes me to take extra care not to outstretch the limits of this joint.
- Ever so slightly heavy, no neck fatigue, but not entirely complaining.
- Mic boom not giving amazing flexibility and still position endurance.
- Ear paddings collect dust and small hairs, annoying to clean.

Overall Review: Solid product from Corsair, wireless connectivity stands strong among my wireless mouse.

1 out of 5 eggsGood things never last

Pros: It has amazing sound.

Very distinct for playing competitive games such as CSGO

Good distance from where you can go with these on

Incredibly comfortable, i played a 10+ hour session and had no problems!

Cons: 2 months and the volume scroll stopped working

1 month into owning this and my charging cable had to be bent a certain way or else it would not charge.

Battery life seemed to shorten very quickly

As of 15-20 minutes ago i no longer can charge my headset so i now must go through the process of seeing if Corsair will give me a new one...will update on customer service after all this passes.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset

Pros: The sound quality for music and video games is very good for this headset. The bass doesn't distort, nor does it hurt your ears. The 7.1 effect works amazing and it's great for knowing when someone's sneaking up on you in games.

The range of the wireless is quite impressive. I can go almost anywhere in my 3500 Sq Ft home and not have any signal issues.

Cons: I'm a larger person and therefore have a slightly larger head. The headset fits very tight and pushes my glasses into the side of my head causing me to get headaches after 45-60 minutes of use.

Overall Review: Overall it's an amazing product, the only reason for 4 Eggs is due to it's restriction in size for larger people. Highly recommended, though.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat white noise?

Pros: this headset is very well designed to fit the need of the many, rather than the need of the few, the bass is not to much, the vocals are as clean as any decent audio system, this headset does not shine in specific areas, it generates a very good audio signal, and i have reached 57 feet away from the actual USB dongle.

Cons: This Product can end up being stuck in a hiatus state if left on, while being charged, The Battery light with shutter as if in the charge state, but the headset would not connect, disconnect or stream any amount of audio, the fix to this problem is nothing to crazy, after i left the headset on long enough to completely drain the battery, Then after the headset recharged, it worked fine.

Overall Review: Just remember to turn it off when you leave, if it is on the charger, i turn it off the moment i leave the house, because it took 31 hours before that battery died.

Just turn off, then connect to charger.

4 out of 5 eggsVery convieniet

Pros: Very comfortable and durable feeling, mostly fabric-covered hard plastic. The sound in lieu with corsair's audio drivers is fantastic for a wireless set. Couldn't be happier.

Cons: The fact that the headset has to be plugged in to check battery life is annoying. It's a bit of a hassle when you play fast games that require all senses going and then the audio starts cutting out.

Overall Review: -1 star for having an LED that doesnt even display battery state.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Great

Pros: I love this headset. The sound so a godsend compairing it to any other headset. The battrey lasts about 8~10 hrs it rathers if you are far away from the USB. I had to replace my 12+ yr old headset, and at frist was not sure if i should have gone with the headset i bought. But im glad i bought it it was well worth thr price. the quilty of the product is great, i kinda expected alot less because i seen other mics fail alot in quilty. I also like when your mic is slide up it mutes, so you can have privacy. Over all i love the product. :)

Cons: sorry i cant find or think of anything thats bad.

Overall Review: i like the mic on my right side not the left. wish they had mic on the right.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Headset

Pros: Sound quality is nice. Not the best ever, but it's a set of gaming headphones.

The charge lasts a good long while.

The headseat is fairly comfortable considering it is not light.

The provided USB connection dongle works quite well, plug it in, hit the button on the headset, and you are good to go.

Those I talk to have not noticed anything odd with the sound quality, so the mic appears to be decent.

Cons: Not a con so much as a few warnings:

For the first few weeks it had a hard time being activated after launching certain apps with in-game voice clients.

It also can wreak havoc on games that only support 2.1 audio. I had to constantly reset the game and the headset software for the first month or so.

Both of those issues have resolved themselves, so I'm not sure if it was games or the hardware or the headset software.

Finally, if you like a push-to-talk option, you have to use a keybind to do so. It leads to weird situations where I am not at my computer and am listening to others, but cannot talk. So that is something to consider if you NEED a push-to-talk option on your headset itself.

2 out of 5 eggsEhh...

Pros: It's wireless. Can use them while plugged in via USB. Mic quality is one of the best I've heard from this price range of gaming headsets. Mic muting feature is nice.

Cons: Feels heavy. Hear weird noises when slightly moving my head around. Static noise once in a while. Clamps a bit tight against the ears, in my opinion.

Overall Review: I can't even use the headset anymore, the weird noise while moving my head is unbearable. Keeps your head warm, could be good in the Winter. Not so much the Summer.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I never had a headset better than that. I like it so much ! The sound is perfect, the mic is amasing and the battery is ... so much better than I was hope. I can have it all day long without wire on it's amasing. It was my biggest fear for them and after few mounth and is still super amasing to put them on the morning x)

Cons: All the fluff is atrack to the ears but easy removable.
