4 out of 5 eggsAwesome little switch

Pros: For the price of this switch, it can't be beat. You can have a L2 or L3 switch as well as have the option for POE. It comes with two SFP slots so you can have fiber runs to further off locaitons. 14.88mpps total switching capacity in a small switch. It can do LAGs, VLANS, auto voice VLAN, TACACS+, RADIUS. The only thing it doesn't do is make dinner.

Cons: Having Cisco 3750X switches as my server environment, it does take some getting used to the CLI. The CLI on this switch is similar, but is not the same as a Catalyst line switch. It lacks some commands and services that are really useful, one example is Kron. It also almost seems that they didn't put in enough horsepower to run the webpage interface as It often loads slowly. It also is a bit sluggish when moving between the pages as well.

Overall Review: For the price, I have not seen a better equipped L2/L3 PoE swtich.

Pros: We bought this unit for a small closet we had that only had one network drop running into it. We were looking for a small device that would support VLans because we had equipment at that location that needed to be split in the closet.

Cons: Power cable is a 4 Pin Dim cable, and the Power adapter is Bulky with a Hum to it. I have had issues in the past with these cable staying in if you are trying to do any work around the Switch. After spending a day trying to configure it, we learned that it didn't support VTP which the rest of our catalyst switches were configured to use, we also learned that our Catalysts switches didn't support GVRP so there was no easy way to configure this switch into our network.

Overall Review: The Switches feature set appears to be a strong set, it is capible of running in L2 or L3, However changing between the 2 will wipe the complete config, Includeing all passwords, service setups and access lists.

I am sure it would work wonderfully in a SMB that was only running this Class of switches, it didnt' mix well with enterprise level switches for my specific case.

I was supprised to find that a Cisco Switch wouldn't support thier own Vlan protocols. I will definately ensure that I look deeper in to what is supported.

4 out of 5 eggsnot a bad switch!

Pros: had this up and running for almost a year now. almost as solid as my $5,000 cisco switches! The configuration is a bit confusing if you're not sure what you are doing .. but can do enough to mesh well with an enterprise network.

Cons: web interface is VERY slow. Command line does not offer the same options as the web which i do not like either.

Overall Review: cheapest 10-port gigabit switch I can find
