5 out of 5 eggsIt simply works

Pros: Simple plug in and use. No problems.

I have my router and one module in my living room. The other module is in my basement for my X-box 360. I can stream netflix in HD, no trouble.

Cons: The software seems useless in my opinion. Not sure what it is for. Still trying to figure it out.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat way to expand your wired network

Pros: Work as intended. Good price to performance ratio. Running strong for about 2 years. Have used in two different homes with no issues in either location.

Cons: n/a

Overall Review: First time you pair them, it is best to be in the same room so you do not have to run back and forth. 2 years out they have work as expected. After you do the initial pairing they are easy to move to a new location.

I have not used the 110 volt plug feature on the face.

Make sure your room does not switch off the bottom outlet you are using as these are large and hang down and would cover the second outlet if you plugged them in the top of the outlet.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great, still strong after 1 year of uses

Pros: Works as expected, easy set up, very reliable, and great for extending my network to my basement where i have my office. As I recall, I was happy about the price, too.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Overall Review: None. Great purchase!

Pros: stronger connection than wifi.. when it works.
I'd had planned on using this to connect to my htpc upstairs in my bedroom while the router is in the basement. The plug works fine in the bedroom, but the one connected to the router is inconsistent, therefore I lose connection upstairs.

Cons: As stated earlier, the adapter is very inconsistent. The connection works fine at first, but after a few minutes or so, the connection is cut. I check in the basement how it's working and the adapter shows absolutely no activity. I have to unplug and replug the adapter every time it stops working. So far my experience is very disappointing because I see a lot of potential.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Anonymous,

Sorry for any inconveniences it may have caused you for unstable connections. I am just wondering if you can get stable connections when both are used in the bedroom or elsewhere before one is moved close to your router in the basement. Also, you can swap adapters to see if it makes differences or not. Please ensure not to plug into power surge protector, GFI outlets, UPS or close to any appliances if possible. If it still doesn't help please contact me directly at Adrian@trendnet.com with “Newegg TPL-307E2K” in the subject line and I will respond immediately to assist. I am hoping to hear from you soon and help to restore your faith in TRENDnet.

Warmest regards,

1 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works the other 90% of the time...

Pros: Allows network access from anywhere in your home without the worry of thick walls blocking a wifi signal or installing new cabling.

Cons: Constantly loses sync. After running into several issues the first couple of months and contacting tech support I was able to get it to hold its sync for about a month before having to re-sync. Then the utility they had me download would not recognize the adapter at all. So now less than a year out I'm left with 2 dead adapters. You should have have to re-sync every 2 weeks to 1 month to access the internet.

Pros: Simply put, I LOVE THESE THINGS. I know Newegg reviews can run the gamut from 1 egg to 5 eggs on the same product, but I must say I don't get the negative reviews on here.

Here's my story. In 2004 I bought a new wireless media server to stream music and movies from my office to my living room (diagonal across the entire house -- about 80 feet, 140 electrical wirepath). For the past 8 years I've tried repeaters, extenders, mediaserver to router connections, etc but could never get a wifi signal consistent enough to avoid hiccups. I could've run an ethernet cable through the attic, but i have a notoriously cramped attic -- plus cables have been known to fail, in which case I'd be stuck troubleshooting or running a replacement.

Well, things came to a head last year, when I went all WAV/FLAC in my music collection from MP3s. All of a sudden it wasn't just XVid/DivX that were skipping -- it was my music, which should have sounded so good broadcast losslessly but instead sounded like my kid with hiccups. Mostly it was the inconsistency that killed me -- it would work great during the day, but at night it would die when the rest of the family or neighborhood came on wifi. In desperation I tried these out.

Wow! Plug into office outlet. Plug into living room outlet. Switch mediaserver from wifi to wired. Bingo. DivX films and shows that skipped for years now run perfectly. Transcoded FLAC to WAV music? Flawless. I've owned the Powerline AVs less than a week, but I couldn't be happier.

Cons: None so far. Price was great too.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy networking

Pros: Really easy to setup, aka plug and play.
Speed is nice, not as much as can do a wireless N
I bought them to link my garage to the house network and plugged an AP in the garage.
Wireless was not an option for this link.

Cons: None so far

4 out of 5 eggsMixed bag

Pros: Simple setup, works without using the software or CD.
Good throughput. I moved a 1 GB ISO in 4 minutes over a short distance in the house, and the same file took 4:25 at the far end of my property, through two breaker boxes and 200 feet more cabling, and a 100' extension cord.

Cons: Ordered two sets. One of the 4 adapters is DOA. I am RMAing tomorrow.

Overall Review: I will add an additional review after some experience.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Easy to use. Plugged in one to the wall connected the ethernet to router. Plugged the other in the room where my desktop is and plugged in the ethernet. Worked straight off. Boom, wired internet connection for my desktop. Quick and easy set-up is good. No need for the software if you don't want it.

Cons: Software is kind of lame. You have to have passwords for your devices which are printed on a label on the device. Tried entering the passwords into the software, but I constantly get a "Password is Invalid" error when I've checked, re-checked, and checked again that I've got it right. Also, my sync function doesn't seem to be working correctly, but it's no biggy. I don't think anyone near me has these, so I'm not too worried about someone hopping onto my network.

Clunky software/password issue/and sync function issue takes the egg off for me.

Overall Review: It works. Works well. I'm getting transfer speeds well above my rated internet speed which is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not worried about streaming over my network, I just wanted a wired connection for my desktop.

You get to keep your outlet there too and it DOES NOT block adjacent outlets at all. So feel free to plug this in, plug your powerstrip back into it and then keep your other outlet free too.

If you're looking to stream lots of stuff over your network, these probably aren't for you. If you want a wired connection for your computer then get these.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless Victory

Pros: Excellent product. Love it. I plugged one in next to my router, then plugged in the Ethernet cable. Plugged the other next to my computer, then the Ethernet cable. then seconds later, not even long enough to get back to my computer, internet. Done before i knew it.
And I was skeptical, thinking it would be slow. I saw no difference in uploading or downloading then my 40 ft cat7 that was hardwired into my router. I bet you can guess why I bought this.

Also synched up with TRENDnet TPL-303E no problems.

Cons: Kinda spendy when I bought this product, but now it's like $30 cheaper. Bummer for me.

The only thing I am concerned about is electrical spikes. You can't put this on a surge suppressor, it doesn't work. If the product fries, no biggy, but if my NIC inside my desktop, or my desktop fries, I'm going to calling TRENDnet about that.

Overall Review: I did not mess with the software for the security. Just thought to myself, who else is gonna have these? Plus theirs like a 1000ft transmitter limit. Which 1000 ft of electrical lines doesn't go as far as you would think.

200mbps means 100mbps upstream and 100mbps downstream simultaneously. Not 200mbps down.
Usually when I plug something into an outlet, I consider that outlet to be used/taken/occupied. So when I read "bonus outlet" I think I get that outlet back. And it's TRUE. To avoid confusion, for some people, it only has 1 BONUS outlet. Meaning after you plug this device in, you can plugin 1 other device into it.

5 out of 5 eggsEasiest way to extend a network

Pros: This is a great device if you are trying to extend your home network, either wirelessly (AP plugged directly into your router via powerline) or just a direct connection via the powerline. Too many people try to extend their wireless networks by placing a repeater somewhere in the middle, but then all you are doing is relaying a weak signal.
This device is pretty much Plug-and-Play. I am renting, so I do not have the luxury of running cables through the house, nor would I want to with this capability. It has been completely full-proof - full duplex and the lowest throughput I have experienced (even with the dryer, plasma TV, and dishwasher running) is 100Mb.
Worth every penny!

Cons: Somewhat bulky

Overall Review: Because of the "Bonus Outlet" this device doesn't even use up available plugs. I plugged my Access Point (AP) directly into the Powerline adapter and can even move it from outlet to outlet if I need to move the AP to a different part of the house for some reason (say a picnic in the backyard - where I wouldn't normally leave the AP, but want to have it available during the picnic).
