5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product - not for the newbie

Pros: Outstanding features you don't find in a residential unit - VLANs, separate SSIDs for each VLAN and each Channel, 802.1x security, QoS. Form factor looks exactly like a smoke detector - easy to mount and keep out of the way. Allows you to make your programming changes before they are "committed" - saving dozens of restarts and making deployment of multiple units a breeze. Very powerful signal strength. Indicator LEDs can be turned off - a nice feature in a dark room or to be "stealthy". This is a great product and I am really enjoying it... and NewEgg pricing helps tremendously!

Cons: Not for the average consumer - definitely not plug-and-play. Plan to spend a little extra time setting it up and you'll get your value out of it.

Overall Review: I really enjoy this unit. I plan to buy a second one, and mesh them together by separating channels and sharing one SSID. I'm doing this today together with an old DLink 2.4 GHz A/P and looking forward to replacing it with a second EAP600.

Don't buy this for a family member who is looking for a "great wireless system" unless you plan to configure and support it.

5 out of 5 eggsTerrific AP, but do your firmware upgrades

Pros: Terrific features and reliability, excellent value. Everyone connects and stay that way. They even include the T-bar clips for mounting to a suspended ceiling.

Cons: None at this price point.

Overall Review: You want at least the 1.6.8 firmware (newer versions not yet tested). The 1.5.x release had an issue where the 5GHz radio would periodically decide it simply wasn't going to pass any kind of traffic at all. Since Macs seem to prefer the 5GHz band (this is a good thing), this would manifest as a pile of Mac users with no broadband access. No issues after upgrading.

I'm using four of these, powered by an EnGenius PoE switch, to provide wifi access in a small conference centre environment. I'm very happy about the fact that nobody ever has problems connecting. These seem to be able to handle several dozen associations each with no issue. In controlled performance testing (few associations, ~30 ft. away, through one partition wall) these have no issues passing 90+ mbps of traffic in both directions when tested on our 100mbps fibre pipe, consistently.

The webUI is not pretty and not spectacularly well-documented; others have complained that you have to specifically save/reload configuration before it takes effect, but honestly, that's a feature not a bug, because you can stack your changes and then reboot once. Much easier.

Associating tagged VLANs to SSIDs is something I've been testing recently; while I haven't used it extensively, it works exactly as you'd expect.

1 out of 5 eggsSo many problems

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: -Every time I leave the wireless range I have to manually disconnect then reconnect
-Signal was not stable (keeps dropping) even after a few factory resets
-When my mac pro retina wakes up, it takes at least 3 minutes before I am able to connect to the wireless
-Had a lot of issues connecting surface as well

Overall Review: Tried to contact EnGenius support (714) 432-8668 (number listed on their support page) line is dead.

Purchased this because of all the positive reviews but I have to RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent AP

Pros: Excellent value for what you get. It takes a bit more tech knowledge to set this up properly, but for the initiated, that's a good thing.
Reliability is top-notch. We use these and previous models with our clients and we're incredibly happy. I can't think of a single unit that we've had to reboot since installation. We've set this up using the traditional power supply and via PoE and both work great. PoE with these things mounted on the ceiling in the middle of a busy office is a great combination - no one even notices it.
The ability to boost the signal output past normal dB levels is a great boon for those times when we need to push past interference or physical obstructions.
Speed and consistency of the signal is also fantastic. Of course it's not SuperMan - a heavily congested or difficult environment will affect this AP like any other. Not the device's fault whatsoever.

Cons: Wish it had the option to auto-update the firmware when available online.

Overall Review: Whether for work or play, you can't go wrong with this AP for serious set-it-and-forget-it service.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a Great dual band AP

Pros: Easy to setup, is good for both the home and enterprise environments. It does output the transmitted power levels as advertized. I measured this using a spec-an and wifi analyzer.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: I have used EnGenius products in the past and they have always done right by me. I've mostly deployed their outdoor product solutions for long range backhaul circuits using the 5ghz band. Out of all the many units I have deployed, I've only had 1 failure since early 2009.

I am using this unit in my home environment. I disabled the radios on my home router and attached this as the only AP radio source. So far I am very happy with the coverage, output power, dual band and management of the unit. I have a 5000 sq.ft. two story home, many walls and the network closet is upstairs in the front of the house. This unit has the power to get thru the walls and floors and is also good at receiving the weaker signals from the end users. I am thinking if needed I would buy another one to place at the opposite end of my home. So far I don't see the need for it.

I have powered this with a 802.3af POE switch and that works with no issues. This device is 802.at POE capable but I had no way of testing this. For now I just set the unit next to my router. Thinking about mounting it as intended as a wall or ceiling mounted device in the future using POE to power it. It comes with plenty of mounting hardware items and options.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat wireless coverage

Pros: Size of a smoke detector, installed this unit in my closet on the second floor. I now have a strong wireless signal in the basement where my DIR-655 had trouble reaching before. Still use the Dlink as a router, just turned off the wireless. 5GHz band seems to lose signal strength quicker than the 2.4 as was expected. Solid connections so far. Lights on the unit aren't annoying but then again, it's set up in a closet. Initial set up was easy. Adjustable wireless power outputs.

Cons: EZ Controller beta is not compatible with this model. Not a big issue for me.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Product, Highly recommended!

Pros: - setup like a charm
- using PoE method (requires PoE switch) and works great!
- easily adapted to my network with mixed devices
- fast speed and maintains great signal strength being used in Access Point mode
- beautiful sleek design on ceiling mount

Cons: - have not noticed any

Overall Review: If you are not familiar with networking products and how to setup these devices, this is not for you. The interface is more for the advanced networking person period. You must know what your doing to set this device up and understand the different modes it works on.

5 out of 5 eggsSuccess!!

Pros: Customer Service was excellent.
Product works better than described.
I was building a network bridge between two houses and this creates the wireless access at the second house. I purchased one of these, one of their switches and two of their antennas, per their customer service recommendations. Works perfect! Speedtest shows 58+ Mbps intenet download speed at the second location, which is basically the full speed of the wired location at the primary spot. Probably only bridged a quarter mile, but I'm super pleased with the set up. :) VC

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product and highly recommend

Pros: Web GUI layout, vLAN support, signal strength, bandwidth steering, PoE capable, looks, mounting hardware, reliability.

Cons: No built in DHCP server for "public" wifi clients. Doesn't impact me as I have a SonicWall appliance. However, I'm certain some would find this a useful feature.

Overall Review: I have 6 SSIDs configured (three 2.4 and the same three as 5G) and bandwidth steering works perfectly between them. I have a Netgear GS180T switch and a SonicWall TZ-210 here at home. With this combination I'm able to completely isolate the traffic between my LAN and WLAN based on SSID & wireless frequency as desired.

3 out of 5 eggsNot enterprise ready

Pros: Nice looking web interface. CLI access is available. 2.4ghz been very stable. VLAN tagging capable.

Cons: 5ghz has been nothing but a hassle. Unable to use a custom channel, only auto. Support has responded once to ask what model and firmware version. I have not heard back as of yet. Some config changes result in no more SSID broadcasting even though it should not matter at all.

Overall Review: I really do like the VLAN tagging feature, but I need to be able to set a static 5ghz channel. I chose this based on previous models having great reviews. Looking over at the EnGenius forums shows other people having similar issues with this model.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Frank,

Thank you for purchasing the EAP600.

The EAP600 has been deployed by the thousands in enterprise environments and we can assure you that the 5 GHz channel selection feature does indeed work. In fact, when deployed in a high user density environment where there are many access points, we recommend manually setting static channels. You may have tried setting the EAP600 to a channel in the UNII 2 range which are subject to DFS as mandated by the FCC. For indoor deployments we recommend using channels 36, 40, 44, and 48. Avoid using channels 52 – 140 for the reason already stated, and use channels 149, 153, 157 and 161 for outdoor.

If you require further assistance please call EnGenius technical support 888-735-7888.

Sincerely,

EnGenius Customer Support Team

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Smaller, looks like a smoke detector, runs fairly cool, POE, VLAN Support, Multiple SSID.... Wall mount works well, comes with all hardware. Well thought out, i'd say.

Cons: Internal antennas limit range, compared to say, Asus RT-N66U. But it's still fairly strong.

Overall Review: Easy setup, I like how you can queue up changes, and apply at the end... Seems stable, no reboots or weird issues yet. I'm using the VLAN tags with a Cisco ASA, works great.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value for the $$ -

Pros: I've set up two of these units to cover 4500 sq over 3 storyes and separate garage. I've only had one issue with dropping which I configured around (see cons)
This unit supports VLANS and multiple SSIDs. Setting up a spanning tree network, I configured the two units almost identically and each support SSIDs, one SSID for the kid's access and one SSID for home-business access. The two SSIDs exist on different VLans assuring data separation and load segregation. (This did require a switch that supports Vlans) Also note, I actually set up 3 ssids - a 2.4Gz SSID for the Kids network, a 2.4 Gz SSID for the business network and another SSID on the 5Gz band for the business alone (no Kids on that band)

Additionally, because of the PoE support, it's easy to place these devices anywhere you can run the cat 5e cable.

Cons: One of the units was occasionally dropping packets (or so it seemed) making use of the AP painful. After some diagnosis, I found that the wiring to the unit was not quite up to par to support 1Gb *and* PoE. The solution to this was to administratively force the port speed to 100Mb. Unfortunately, this configuration option is NOT available on the EAP600, So I had to do it on the switch. Once I did this, I have had no dropped packets and the unit has run flawlessly.

Overall Review: As stated before, this AP may not be for the faint of heart unless you have good tech support. If you're going to use any of the advanced features, you almost need to have a very configurable managed switch (I used a Cisco 300 PoE 28 port switch)

5 out of 5 eggsThe double deuce

Pros: Web Management
SNMP Management
Dual Band
High Output
Award Winning Design
Amazing performance

Cons: Cost, is a bit higher than expected but so is the QC, first product from this company that I havent seen a 5% DOA or mispackage rate on.

Overall Review: I would buy these all day long. Design aside the configuration is a breeze and the snmp app, while not for beginners is pretty dang cool.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: So far it works great! Much better signal and reliability compared with the wireless router I got from my ISP. On my Microsoft Surface Pro, I can push 300mbps because the AP and the Surface both support MIMO.

Cons: Re-IPing the unit initially is a pain because it defaults to a static IP address of 192.168.1.1. Luckily my home network is on a different subnet. If it wasn't, it would have been more difficult.

5 out of 5 eggsJust Love These Units

Pros: We have three of these units in our large house. Great Size - Great Range - Very easy set-up. Good set-up software. I did a side by side comparison with the Netgear dual band access point 360 unit and the EnGenius was more stable and had broader reach. Plus it is almost $100 less in cost.

Cons: none at this point

Overall Review: We have three these units in our large 6000+ sqft house powered via PoE router. Every point in our house has 300Mbps coverage now with these units installed. I highly recommend these units for both commercial and residential applications.

5 out of 5 eggsBest yet

Pros: Fast as hell. Long-range. Easy set-up menus. Sleek looking.

Cons: Set up required a fixed IP address for the host PC.

Overall Review: The sleek look allowed me to install this access point in my dining room. This allowed me to centrally locate the device and get better coverage throughout my house. I've had Wi-Fi troubles for over a decade because the walls in my house, are made of wire mesh with horsehair plaster. A Wi-Fi dead-zone. However this AccessPoint blasts through the wiremesh walls and provides good signal throughout the house.

I was amazed at the blazingly fast speed of this AccessPoint. It measured 40 Mb per second download speed, the highest ever recorded in my house.

Of course the 2.4 GHz band has better range than the 5 GHz band. However the 5 GHz band is adequate to cover my whole house.

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice access point

Pros: Signal strength is very good, speed is blazing! My Microsoft Surface is flying now. I just got it today so I'm not sure about the products durability, we will see.

Cons: none so far.

Overall Review: I bought this to replace my Trendnet TEW-653 access point. Trendnet was dropping Wi-Fi to often. I'm loving this new access point. I just hope it lasts. I currently have it configured with three VLANs. Make sure you check the isolation box for VLAN tagging to work.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent unit, a couple of caveats,

Pros: Very easy to set up (assuming you know what you're doing with manually configuring a laptop to talk to it for initial setup). The web interface is very intuitive, but does have a 'gotcha' (see below). Engenius provides freely downloadable controller software if you want to run multiple WAPs on one network.

Excellent price point for a WAP of this quality and feature set. Cisco would want $400+ for something comparable!

Cons: Not set for DHCP by default (you have to enable it during initial configuration). No hardware/RS232 console serial port to manage initial setup. If you don't have an Ethernet crossover cable for your laptop, or an existing network with at least one switch, you're up the proverbial creek without any means of propulsion!

As for the 'gotcha' I mentioned above: Yes, the web interface makes it pretty easy, but check the 'Save/Reload' item in the left column after making ANY changes! If it shows a count greater than zero, CLICK IT BEFORE you log out or power off or the AP will revert to factory defaults.

Overall Review: If you're looking for just a simple, plug-and-go WAP, this is NOT it. These units are clearly built for those who have some experience with networking, TCP/IP configuration, RADIUS (if you use it), etc.

If I could change the design, I would do two things: First, provide a hardwire RS232 serial console port for initial configuration. Cisco does this on their WAPs, and it's a real lifesaver if you're out in the field without an Ethernet crossover cable.

Second: I would have these units set for DHCP by default. That way, you can just plug it into an existing network, check the DHCP server to see which address it grabbed, and log in to configure. No messing with crossover cables or a separate computer.

With all this said: You do get quite a bit for your $$. If you're comfortable with your network skills, go for it!

1 out of 5 eggsUseless Product, Even More Useless "Support"

Pros: Band Steering.
Guest Network.

Cons: No one can keep a connection.
EnGenius support has ignored my requests for help.

Overall Review: I have deployed EnGenius APs for countless clients. When the EAP900H was not in stock at Newegg, I was upsold on the EAP1750H.

The product has not been working since the beginning. None of the users can stay connected to the WAP. They may be able to connect for a few minutes, then the connection drops (signal still shows as Excellent, the device just loses the connection). A few minutes later, the device may reconnect, only to lose it again within seconds. More often than not, the devices just permanently lose the connection.

For a few devices that actually can stay connected, the Internet stops working eventually. They may be streaming video or loading regular websites, and then suddenly no data, even though they are still connected and show full signal strength.

Initially I called Support and they walked me through chaning some settings. None worked. I then changed individual settings myself, testing connectivity after each change. Nothing helped.

We then brought in a cheap $50 Linksys router to use as a WAP, and guess what? It worked perfectly! It has held up for over a week!

I then e-mail support with all of the settings I tried, as well as mentioning the fact that a cheapo router worked, and this is the response I received:

"The EAP1750H is one of our solid Access Point platforms and we haven’t heard any reported issues similar to this...Even the farthest distance wireless device can be considered as interference. If other device/s can stay connected, this is the polite protocol in the real wireless networking world as they wait for a clear path to send information."

What the **** kind of response is this??? I just gave them a boatload of technical details on their product's problem, and they give me this useless canned response!

Needless to say, I will be avoiding their products going forward. They clearly have issues to fix; they do not acknowledge that they have issues to fix; and they obviously have no sense of respect for their customers.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic AP

Pros: - Great coverage, even in a large house over multiple floors.
- Supports PoE+ for full gigabit speed and power over a single ethernet cable.
- Supports multiple SSIDs and Vlans.
- SSID to Vlan mapping, so I can keep my guest wifi traffic isolated.
- Fast, comprehensive GUI. All the settings and information is easily accessible. There's also a CLI.
- Ceiling mountable. Mounting bracket is also compatible with their newer EAP1750h model when I eventually upgrade.
- They offer free software that can manage multiple access points simultaneously. (I have not tested this)

Cons: - CLI is telnet, not SSH.

Overall Review: This is a great solution for anyone who wants a ceiling mounted access point with support for PoE+, multiple SSIDs, Vlan mappings, and other features usually only found in more expensive business-oriented products.

5 out of 5 eggsEAP600 is beast

Pros: Strength and quality of signal is great in my 1700sqft home
Have Comcast 25Mbps pipe, able to get 25-27Mbps on internet speed tests over the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels
Easy to navigate interface
Lots of options, maybe too many for the average user but I love the ability to customize
LED Control (turn any or all of the LEDs on or off)
PoE - This is the best feature because this access point was meant to be ceiling mounted. I ran some Cat5e through my ceiling and mounted this using a PoE adapter to provide power
Great design, looks like a big smoke detector
Firmware updates easily access from EnGenius website

Cons: Does not come with a PoE injector but I knew that going in. Still would have been nice to have one bundled with it. Without a PoE injector it is very difficult to use this access point as a ceiling mount which is what it is designed for. (unless a lot of people have power outlets on their ceilings.)

Overall Review: Overall I would definitely buy this access point again and recommend it to anyone look for good speed and signal quality. I would be very interested to see how two or more of these would operate together but my house is not big enough to warrant that. Looking at the web interface and on EnGenius' website, it sounds like a few of these would be great for a bigger home.

3 out of 5 eggsmulti-SSID with VLAN tagging does not work

Pros: Reasonable cost, dual band support, very pleasing appearance, easy POE installation.

Cons: These units are NOT enterprise ready, at least if you need to use multi-SSIDs with VLAN tagging. This function is just broken. Please see the enGenius forums www.engeniusforum.com, topic EAP600 Problems for additional details.
Note that this has been broken in all firmware releases up to and including 1.5.2. Note that this problem was reported to EnGenius Support by multiple users over the past year, and there has been no apparent progress.

Overall Review: The EAP350 works great with multi-SSIDs with VLAN tagging. Too bad the EAP350 is only single band. I sure with the EAP600 would work as advertised!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Snichols,

We can assure you that the Multiple SSIDs and VLAN tagging function has worked since the launch of the EAP600. This is very common configuration and there are literally thousands of EAP600 units deployed in this manner.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat coverage for the $

Pros: Powerful, great coverage for the price

Cons: You have to read the manual, - some menu items are not as intuitive as other brands. That said, there is nothing that really compares at this price point.

Overall Review: I have deployed in grocery stores and when put in the center ceiling height, it works everywhere in the store (in the coolers, rear areas, parking lot… As with any WAP, make sure you do a site frequency survey an set the unit up correctly. I also used the 5G to bridge for a few distant IP cameras.

5 out of 5 eggsVery easy setup

Pros: very easy setup. SAVE is done after configuring all the options. This is good when you need to change internal IP address.
It works for few weeks without touching it.

Cons: few came with wrong ac adapter.

4 out of 5 eggsInteresting setup, good performance

Pros: -Good range, covers the 2,200 sq ft of the house with no issues, makes it outside into the yard too.
-Performance as far as speed is what I would expect. I can get about 80mbps when sitting 20 feet away, the AP is on the other side of a wall.
-Web interface is easy to use (see cons though)
-Looks slick, blends in great on ceilings
-Concurrent dual band with band steering works seemingly well so far.

Cons: -Web interface is slow compared to other similar products I've used
-Setup process. I could not get VLAN tagging to work properly the first go around, more on this later.

Overall Review: Overall I like this AP, well I like it now that its working and has been working for about a day. Initial setup was not an issue, the issue was when I tried to configure VLAN tagging for multiple SSIDs on here. Let me clarify that the switches and everything else were already preconfigured, I was using a Dlink DAP2553 with VLAN tagging before on the same port.

After setting everything up VLAN tagging would not work properly, it would tag one SSID properly, but not the second SSID even though both were setup for isolation and with a VLAN ID. I confirmed this with a wireshark capture + SPAN, sure enough there were no 802.1Q tags on the one SSID. I tried rebooting the AP, thinking it was just being finicky, didn't help. I triple checked the configuration, nothing worked. I decided to factory reset the AP, then I went and did the exact same configuration again, and it worked. I have no idea why, but SPAN + wireshark confirm proper tagging on all SSIDs now.

This is somewhat concerning, I'm worried if I make a change in the future that tagging will stop working, but for now all seems good...

5 out of 5 eggsWe installed 32 of these in a school

Pros: These access points are what I call "Mid Tier" business grade access points and are at a price point that is very good. We had had a tremendous amount of stability using almost all of the features. We have 5 SSID's on each radio talking to different VLANS and everything works pefectly.

Cons: We had some issues with configuration on how the VLAN settings were labeled. But once you understand how this works, it worked without any problems.

Overall Review: Overall - I don't think you will find a more feature rich dual band access point that looks good for commercial applications at a more reasonable price. They have held up to fairly high temperatures (130 degrees) and haven't had any issues.

2 out of 5 eggsDisconnects

Pros: PROS:
Fast. Cool looking.

Cons: UPDATE on Intermittent Operation and disconnects:
January 5, 2013
Problems appear to be fixed. I submitted trouble ticket on the Engenius website. I then contacted tech support. After holding for 20 minutes, the technician said that I should set a fixed channel on both the 5GHZ and Channels 36-48 on 5GHZ and Channel 1 or 11 on 2.4GHz. I did this and my tests are passing. They also offered a Beta version but it is not necessary.

However, my site survey says that there are no other competing 5GHz APs in my area, so why would a channel selection setting of "Auto" fail my tests. Did the channel selector software decide that switching channels in the middle of a WiFi session was correct. Buggy software.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Excellent power output and configurability. A true dual-band access point with real 300Mbps bandwidth to supported devices. Fixed all of my issues with wireless printers going offline after a day of two of inactivity

Cons: It looks like it doesn’t like non-standard characters in the password, but accepts them and then you can’t connect to the device. The standard IP setting also conflicts with most standard router/firewall IPs.

2 out of 5 eggsDisconnects

Pros: PROS:
Fast as hell. Too fast. Up to 40 MBPS. Cool looking.

Cons: CONS:
Disconnects.
I do IT for a living and know what intermittent operation is. The 5 Ghz band intermittently disconnects from my iPad 3 for certain protocols involving:

- Digital magazines
- VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)
- Browsing

Digital magazines
-----------------

By intermittent, I mean that my iPad magazine apps (ARRL and AOPA) can not reliably download magazines. They are hanging indefinitely. At first, I attempted to remedy this with a firmware update, which is not easy. They have two separate URLs to download the update. One URL had 100 files and I could not find the right BIN file. The second URL had the right BIN file which was an older firmware update. So I updated the firmware to the old version, 1.2.3. It was no help for my issue.

The EAP600 Administrative console interface is difficult to initiate. It must be logged-into using a fixed IP address. This is cumbersome for a small office or home (SOHO) user.

- Real-time or long downloads are not reliable. EAP600 disconnects!
- Website loading hangs

After hours of trial and error, I had to disable clustering (called CLI) and Aggregation modes to get it working reliably. By reliably, I mean that my iPad magazine apps can reliably download magazines. They were hanging prior to disabling Aggregation and CLI. The manual should have been much better written. It should have noted what the purpose of these modes were, why they are used and why a home or business user would use or not use them.

VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)
-----------------------------------

The EAP600 drops the WiFi connection after a one minute phone call on the 5 GHz band using the Talkatone app.. The 2.4 GHz band works fine. My 10-year-old d-Link DI-524 also works fine with VOIP.

Many more hours of research will be required to diagnose and fix this issue.

My 10 year-old d-Link wireless router/AP works slower but much more reliably with very little setup.

Very frustrated. There is no 800 number to call for help, so I had to do hours of Google research on the web.

Overall Review: This product comes from a non-US supplier. They're not up to the same quality of service standards as a product made in the USA. I've researched the website and it is substandard as far support goes.

1 out of 5 eggsTakes your router IP

Pros: Features, price

Cons: This thing requires 192.168.1.1 out of the box, which is what most people use as their router IP address and will immediately cause a conflict if you connect it to your network. Every other brand of AP I've used defaulted to a higher address. Now I have an IP address conflict with my router that bumped 100 users off the internet.

Overall Review: Beware, don't make any assumptions when you configure this thing. I'm still shaking my head that they would have given it 192.168.1.1 as it's IP address out of the box when it's not a router.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Anthony M.,

We appreciate your time in posting your comments and feedback.

The IP address of the EAP600 does have to be changed during the initial configuration depending on the IP scheme of the network. This is done prior to connecting the device to the network.

Please allow us to do some troubleshooting with you. You may reach us through our number at 1-888-735-7888 (Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm PST) or e-mail us at support@engeniustech.com (Saturday, Sunday 8am - 4pm PST). Our support team would be glad to be of service to you.

1 out of 5 eggsWAP or is that W supposed to be a CR?

Pros: Small

Cons: Overpriced, range is exaggerated, not any better than your average router.

Overall Review: I bought this after reading the reviews. I have no idea how this thing would ever cover a 6000 ft^2 house or a warehouse when I can't even get coverage in the next room. Maybe this is a defective item, but for the price I would expect better QA. Now I am stuck paying an extra $15 in return shipping. The whole deal makes me bitter. I will not be buying an Engenius product again, and may have to look at buying locally if I am expected to pay return shipping for bunk products (owned less than 30 days). In the past Newegg has treated me well, so I am surprised and disappointed.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Mr. Serious,

We appreciate your time in posting your comments and feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience.

We understand that you were having wireless coverage issues with the EAP600 and that you have RMA'd the unit to Newegg. There are several factors that may affect wireless performance. Perhaps the wireless channels needed to be changed. The EAP600 also works best mounted to the ceiling. When you receive the replacement EAP600 we would like to suggest that you give us a call. We look forward to getting this issue straightened out right away.

Please allow us to do some troubleshooting with you. You may reach us through our number at 1-888-735-7888 or e-mail us at support@engeniustech.com. Our support team would be glad to be of service to you.

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to hearing from you.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Access Point

Pros: * Dual band. This is nice since it makes it possible for 5G capable wifi devices to relieve congestion on the 2.4 band in my house.
* Fairly easy to mount in ceiling.

Cons: The antennas don't have good enough range in part of the house I live. I have bumped the power up a bit on the 2.4 and 5 bands and it does help but it isn't perfect. This might be because of HVAC/Furnace that is in direct path.

Overall Review: I am using along with a EAP 350 in my basement. This makes it possible to have *mostly* whole house wifi coverage.
The EAP 350's was originally in the same place (ceiling) as the EAP 600 but its poe port got fried over the phone line by a lightning strike. So, the EAP 350 only works via AC now.
