Pros: Big fan, variable fan speed control, optional DC in (sold separately),

Cons: The fan isn't as quiet as I had hoped. Has a ticking sound when running on any speed. Not normally audible over my headsetsand playing a game which is when I have the fan on. The USB hub is only v2.0 (but this is in the specs so no real points off for that). The worst part, but not a killer, is that the plastic molding around the 2 USB plugs (the ones that plug into your laptop, one for USB data, one for extra power) are rather thick horizontally. I had to trim the excess plastic to allow the two to be plugged in side by side.

Pros: I keep a mouse plugged into it, and a keyboard too. When I get home, I plug the connection from it's back to my usb 2+power plug on my notebook.. think that maybe needs to be a prerequisite, you need a usb that is set up to charge things to make the best use from this cooler. Then, the features all work right and happily (for me anyway).

Cons: Maybe it should state up front that you really need connect to a notebook that has a usb port for that. Anyway, I thought of that on my own so, wasn't an issue for me.

Overall Review: I've been really happy that it's worked so well, the large fan is quiet too -at it's highest speed setting.

Pros: no pros!

Cons: 1. no modify of fan speed when you rotate the plastic wheel designated for this!
2. the sound... after 10 min still not working, on win8.
3. the led for sound function refuse to go on. only did that once for 2 min but still no sound.
4. when i restarted the laptop with this product connected the laptop (asus notebook) begun to use at maximum hi own coolers and after a 20 sec wait i rebooted. the laptop cease to work. begun functional after 5-6 retry. there were 2 minutes of horror.
5. if needed the drivers are not present. nor in package or on zalman site.
5. usb design it's completely stupid - veeery wide, so you cannot insert them side to side.

Overall Review: over all, after seeing reviews on net about cooling capabilities - it's a useless product witch destroyed zalman image for me.

Pros: Surface to put your computer on

Cons: Fails to do any cooling to the laptop

The two USB plugs that power the cooler have needlessly wide body plugs which makes it difficult to plug them into sockets that are next to each other (typical arrangement on a laptop)

There is not enough space between the fan and the surface on the table so you don't get plenty of cool air for the fan to blow on the bottom of the laptop

Overall Review: The rebate is a complete scam. You end up spending a bunch of time going through the rebate process and the possibility of getting the rebate card is slim to none. I am done with rebates. I will no longer purchase products that have rebates attached to them. If you want to truly save money purchase these products used. To add insult to injury, the product completely fails to deliver on it's promise to cool anything.

Pros: - Keeps laptop cool or within desired range by adjusting fan speed
- Nice angle for typing
- Uses 2 USB outlets from laptop to power cooling pad, but provides 4 additional USB outlets for use with other accessories. Net gain of two USB jacks
- Using on 17" laptop with high temp HDD, pad cools drive very effectively

Cons: - Fairly large, raising height of laptop

Overall Review: Great device...exactly what I was looking for. I'd recommend it if overheating laptop is an issue.

Cons: Minor considerations: Fan exhausts at bottom, but heated air is less dense than cold (lol physics); What does that button on the side actually do beside change the light from blue to red? See Other Thoughts for potentially forthcoming modding

Overall Review: The fan is good at moving air, though I am considering disassembling it and reversing the fan's orientation to blow air upward (and into the laptop's intake) rather than downward as it currently does - I doubt that this will be too difficult as the screws are easy enough to find. Hopefully that change will help improve its cooling further (plus, cool hands - neat?!) though your mileage may vary depending on how your laptop exhausts. Maybe if I get really bored I'll mod it into the bottom of the laptop. :D

Pros: The size does dover 17 inch laptop

Cons: Zalman does not honor rebates.
I have purchased this product on 10/16/2014 and five days later I have submitted the rebate, along with the rebate form, UPC code, and the Invoice/Order from newegg.
Six days later I recieved denial. claiming I have not submitted the Invoixe/Order.
Of course that is not true since I had to fold the rebate form inside the Invoice so that UPC code can fit nicely, which I remember very weill.
I will turn this company to the Attorny General and notify FTC, as well as BBB, so that any future buyers get the information of malpractices of Zalman company.
