5 out of 5 eggsGood Speakers

Pros: 500 Watt, THX-Certified 5.1 speaker system with a variety of both digital and analog inputs, a control console, and a remote control. Digital formats accepted are Dolby Digital Surround, DTS Digital Surround, and PCM (stereo).

Analog inputs include 6-channel direct (3 cable), RCA stereo in, and Aux-in (3.5 mm on the side of the control console. Digital inputs include 2 digital optical inputs, and 1 digital coax input. There is no limit as to the number of inputs that can be connected at once; the active input is selected either from the control console or the remote control.

Total RMS wattage of components: subwoofer is 165 watts, 6 ohms, at 10% THD. Satellites are total 335 watts RMS, 67 watts per channel, 4 ohms, at 10%THD. Frequency response is 35 Hz - 20 KHz.

The satellite speakers are small enough for a computer desk and weigh two pounds each. The subwoofer is on the large side (11.5 x 11.1 x 12.6 inches) and weighs 19.8 lbs.

Subjectively, these speakers deliver very clean sound. Volume will go higher than I can stay in the room for, with no apparent distortion. Unlike most "computer speakers," these have good mid-range response as well as bass and treble. Response is also good at normal volume; it doesn't require loud volume for these speakers to deliver good, balanced sound.

Cons: No real cons noted.

Overall Review: For these speakers to work as designed, you need to get the rear satellites behind you. This will not only improve the quality of movie and sound playback, it will also enable positional audio in the games that still support it.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible Home Theater System

Pros: -Sound quality is absolutely excellent. Watching Blu-rays on this makes me feel like I am in the theater! These are the best home speakers I have ever heard for less than $1k.
-Connectivity. This is the reason I bought these and IMO their best feature. I have a PC, Xbox 360, Blu-ray, and and bluetooth wireless adapter (which connects to my laptop) all hooked up. Still could add 2 more devices (1 through digital coax, 1 through stereo line in)!
-Stylish low-profile home theater look
-Remote is great; I never have to move to adjust the sound

Cons: Absolutely none... I'm not an audiophile so perhaps if you have a really good/trained ear you could pick on the quality. I don't have that good an ear, so it just sounds like epic win to me.

Overall Review: I bought these because I needed something to hook my Xbox 360 and Blu-ray up to. I didn't want a home theater-in-a-box setup, since I don't need another blu-ray player (and it is difficult to find those setups with optical inputs for other devices anyways).

These are WAY cheaper than getting a comparable set of speakers + a receiver, so they were the best choice.

I got these for $200 after using a 50% off coupon for Logitech's website... probably the best value I have ever gotten from any tech purchase, ever.

It was stupidly difficult to find anything inexpensive that I could hook up my Xbox 360 to... *so happy* that I found these at the discounted price.

They have about the same sound quality as the Z5500 (with a tiny bit less bass), but they are a HUGE style and functionality upgrade if you are doing home theater and not just PC. I recommend ignoring bad reviews by Z5500 owners...

I can't recommend these highly enough, just try to find a deal for <= $300 or so on th

5 out of 5 eggssimply amazing !!!

Pros: This is the best bargain on the market! Yes it is "refurbished" that just means someone didn't know how to install it. Supper easy and fast install. Copy the drivers off the cd to a usb drive, boot off the Windows's install disk point it to the usb drive and presto there it is. 15 minutes or so later windows is up and running. Windows 7 shows 7.9 on the WEI. A couple of test copies from my smaller revodrive3 showed 1500 MB/second burst writes and 500 MB/second sustained which is the read speed max on the smaller drive. Super fast boot!

Cons: None

Overall Review: Best bargain and best upgrade you can get for $268.00

1 out of 5 eggsCool product but not cool support

Pros: Sound that can shake stuff 2 levels below you

Cons: It breaks? You are ^^^^. I use to have good experiences with Logitech. Last time their product failed they offered me a discount to replace it. I am not going to claim that their product is poorly made. All I know is after a trip in a moving truck the control pod died. A common issue I soon found out. My issue is if your product is out of warranty, so a single year (a year?!), and a volume controller breaks.. Toss out the whole system! 50 lbs of working speakers that there is no way for you to use. Logitech Flat out refuses to sell replacement control pods. They force you to waste money on a new system instead of letting you buy a small piece of hardware. Unethical, ungreen, avoid. Judge the company on how they treat you when things go wrong.

4 out of 5 eggsNot the Z-5500's

Pros: My Z-5500's went kaput and Logitech sent me these as a replacement. For better or worse? Well, the controller on these are a step up and they don't have some of the issues like an overheating controller or an initial volume lag I had with the Z-5500's and the power isn't bad. I'd say satisfactory by comparison. BUT...

Cons: The Z906's are definitely a step down in power. The sub on the Z-5500's was a beast. This sub, more like the Z-5500's little brother, is satisfactory, but doesn't have the raw unrestricted power of the Z-5500's.

Overall Review: Overall I'm satisfied, and if I didn't have a direct comparison with the Z-5500's, I'd say these are pretty good.

I must note Logitech's customer service is literally the best customer service I've ever experienced. When my Z-5500's went out, I merely had to return the control pod for which they paid the shipping, and they sent me the Z906 upgrade complete with absolutely no cost to me. Because of that, Logitech in itself worth it's weight in gold.

4 out of 5 eggsAcoustic Testing

Pros: This system throws it down hard ! It sounds amazing for a PC system. I have tested this system and others in my acoustic room. It passes.

Cons: Does not produce entire range of sound. See below.

Overall Review: I tested this and many other systems in my acoustic room. This system produced interesting results. First off , it does not go from 20-20,000Hz. It's usable range is about 31-17,500Hz with small spikes at 41 Hz , 210 Hz, and a few places you will not notice. It lulls below 30 Hz and starts to sizzle above 18,000 Hz. With the addition of some small bullet tweeters wired in series with the satellites, you can move the range up to 22,000 Hz. Overall , this speaker system did well hitting 112 DB of sound pressure level. Really loud and fairly accurate at high volumes. Great system for the money. Needs more inputs to be useful as a home theatre system. Rocks a computer !

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Easy to set-up. Speakers are not cheaply made, good weight, tells me the magnets are a decent size, and their sound reflects such. Clear sound and clear deep bass. I already knew these were good my dad has the same ones. Gets 5 eggs!

Cons: None as of yet.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speakers for any device!

Pros: I have owned these speakers for 4 years now and they work just as perfect as they did on day 1. They have so many options for sound and pretty much any connection you would need. I have mine connected optically to the cable box and my PS4. Then my PC is connected with the analog cables.
The speaker wires are plenty long enough to set up the speakers wherever you wish, and I use the remote this comes with all the time.
As for how it sounds, it sounds amazing. It has all the bass you would ever need. Usually halfway up on the bass is plenty for me. The surround sound it puts out is like being in the theatres. Gaming with these couldn't be any better. All the surround effects of bullets going by or a convoy of vehicles driving behind you is just awesome.

Cons: The only negative thing I can think of is they make a pop sound rarely when you might switch cable channels too quickly and the sound is up high. It might just be due to the cable box but it only happens rarely so not worth docking these an egg for me because they work perfectly with everything else.

Overall Review: I paid $340 for these, 4 years ago, and they have been well worth the money considering you can connect basically any device to it and it puts out theatre sound quality. Also, they feel really well made and strong quality. But that's what I expect from Logitech. I bought some wall mounts for the speakers and they look great and sound great. I can imagine I'll be enjoying these at least another 5+ years.

5 out of 5 eggsSound like Heaven

Pros: I'm hearing my sounds like I've never heard them before! Excellent warm, clarity. Very loud and punchy sound. Nice deep bass. The speakers sound excellent and they really pack a great sound for the price in comparison to other HD home theater systems. I really like the control unit is lit up orange, but not too bright. I like how it displays which audio input is being used (inputs 1-5 and aux). The overall sound is unbelievable. I'm blown away. These speakers honestly are better than I thought they would be. I've been a devoted Klipsch fan (still am), but my old ProMedia 5.1 setup is starting to sound kind of old and not as powerful. The setup was easy for these; tons of lengthy wire is included for convenience. Everything sounds SOOO much better than what I'm used to. When listening to music, I can hear the individual plucks of guitar strings, rings and dings of drum cymbals, and vocals sound out of this world. When watching movies and playing games, the sound is phenomenal. You can hear cars whizzing by, bullets shooting by, the sounds of things crackling, cracking, glass breaking and shattering, but overall, the experience is just totally different and amazing in every way.

Cons: None yet.

Overall Review: I'm pretty picky when it comes to audio. I've been a musician my entire life, so I'm always looking to get the best sound out of my equipment. I own Klipsch Reference speakers for my home theater and I'm pretty much used to that kind of sound quality. (I've been spoiled, I know...) But I have to say that these speakers sound EXCELLENT and definitely a lot better than my Klipsch ProMedia 5.1s (which says a lot, because I LOVE KLIPSCH). I just ordered a digital optical cable for these speakers. I have a Creative Fatal1ty Titanium Pro powering these babies. It's a match made in heaven.

5 out of 5 eggsBest speakers available for PC

Pros: 1. Supports Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 and PCM 2.0.
2. Good variety of connections: 2 toslink fiber, 1 coax, six-channel analog, and 2 stereo inputs
3. Expands stereo to 5.1, 4.1 or 2.1
4. Allows adjusting surround and subwoofer volumes separately
5. Remote provided

Cons: 1. Lacks support for 5.1 DD+, Dolby ProLogic
2. Controller will expand digital stereo PCM up to full 5.1 but not two-channel stereo DD or DTS (sound will only come out of left/right speakers).
3. No hdmi input/passthrough, with no ability to expand to 7.1
4. Crackling/popping noises when stopping, pausing, or skipping through AV files maybe a little more apparent compared to previous speakers

Overall Review: Despite the cons, this is the best speaker set available for the PC and eliminates the need to buy an expensive receiver for 5.1 sound. The subwoofer should be fine for most. The sound quality is excellent. Just be sure not to spend over $300 for them. They do go on sale from time to time.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality PC surround

Pros: Digital input capability Toslink cable
Clear Crisp noise free sound
Easy wall or ceiling mountable satellite speakers
Remote controlled DTS Dolby digital control box
Separate volume control for each speaker in digital mode
Stylish, well build rigid materials.
No other external amp needed, subwoofer amp drives all
Multiple inputs to run all your devices, PC, TV, DVD, Bluray, Stereo, CD or MP3 player with one click change of input.
Clear distortion free sound at high volume.
Perfect for PC studio
PERFECT FOR VIDEO EDITING IN SURROUND - my primary use.

Cons: Subwoofer frequency good, just not quite low enough, almost there.
Speaker wires fairly long for rear satellites but if you have a large room you will have to add to them.
DOES NOT include a digital toslink cable for digital use, however does come with analog surround cables.

Overall Review: Let me say that for 326.00 dollars, this is the ONLY solution I could find that allowed me to have a true THX certified Dolby Digital surround sound system that really works perfectly for true digital surround without having to buy a separate amplifier or sound card. Will work great with HD onboard sound, crisp and clear. To get this kind of sound, it normally takes about 600 dollars or more and you have to get a system that includes an amplifier separate from subwoofer. This system amplifier is in the subwoofer but drives ALL SPEAKERs with no need for additional equipment. I have owned another Logitech 2.1 system for about 7 years and it still works fine, I actually put it on my TV after getting the Z906 system. I cannot believe how good this system really sounds. It has options for 3D stereo sound for your MP3s or music files that are not designed for surround. The system decodes the music file and puts part of the sounds through the rear satellites and vocal sounds come from front and center channels providing a true surround sound with your normal MP3s. You can connect 6 devices to this system. I am more than pleased and very impressed. Way to go Logitech. You are always thinking of those of us who have a need for quality PC sound for work and play.

5 out of 5 eggsBest "Computer Speakers" you can find.

Pros: All though theses speakers are priced relatively high , I believe it is well worth the money. I do I agree with the other commentators when they say the Z5500s is more superior in bass power, however I rarely need that much power because I'm using the Z906 for what it was intended for, which is computer speakers....If I needed any more sound output I would just have purchased home entertainment speaker set and hooked them up to my workstation. These are compact and still deliver crisp booming sound and usual keep the Bass level half way up which is enough to rattle my room.

Cons: Logitech should have knocked $20-$50 off of this product since it's a step down from it's predecessor.

5 out of 5 eggsWoW!!

Pros: 1. Strong bass. Very strong!
2. Control pod is crazy easy to navigate and make setting changes.
3. It's a standard system setup really. Not much to brag about on that part.
4. It's Logitech so you know you are getting some top of the line equipment.
5. Remote control is a nice touch. Didn't think I would bother with it but I use it all the time now.
6. The sound is on par with my old Klipsch 5.1 Ultra's that finally died on me last week. That's why I got these.
7. The control pod a nice "calming" orange glow to it. very nice touch IMO.
8. The sub box is smaller than what I thought. It still slams my room off the foundation though :)
9. These are probably the best 5.1 speakers you can buy right now. The Klipsch are little tiny better but their "BASH" boards burn out of them like crazy. Trust me I owned 3 of 'em. Also a simple internet search will show all the problems Klipsch has with their Pro media's.

Cons: 1. I would rather see the "snap" wire connecters rather than the "pressure". Not worth deducting an egg over something so small though.
2. The control pod feels very cheap. I am sure it isn't but it just has that "don't treat me to rough" feeling. Still not enough to deduct any eggs.
3. I wish they would have including hardware to mount them to the wall. I know most speakers you always have to buy that sorta thing extra but it would be nice for them to include it. Again, not worth deducting and egg.

Overall Review: I can safely compare this to my very high dollar Klipsch 5.1 Ultra surround sound system with ease. I was a bit worried it would not be nearly what I was used to with Klipsch bit boy was I wrong!

After tweaking the system for about 20 minutes I got very good results! The next system I buy WILL BE Logitech! Cannot be more impressed with these!!

The bass is stronger than the Klipsch which I blew me away. My computer room/ office literally shakes with it cranked waaaaay up. My Klipsch never did that.

All in all it;s the best 330.99 I have spent in a loooooong time and would do it again in a heart beat. I just might actually to hook another system up to my 40" in the living room :) :)

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Speakers

Pros: These are BY FAR the best computer speakers I have ever heard. I used to have an older Logitech 5.1 system that gave out and I struggled to find something that sounded as good as those until I got this system. The sound is perfectly balanced, crisp, clean, and loud. The subwoofer is arguably better than the Polk 10" I use in my home theater setup. I am very impressed with the input options and settings available for tuning the sound as well.

Cons: The price.

Overall Review: The low reviews of this system baffle me. I don't know how anyone could possibly be disappointed with the subwoofer, or any other aspect of it. It pounds like no other computer system I've ever heard. I have a Creative X-Fi Titanium sound card and found no need for the equalizer, crystalizer, or CMSS-3D settings. I did boost the treble a little bit (via speaker properties) to suit my taste, but everything else is just perfect. This system is now the standard by which all other speakers I purchase will be judged.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat sound!

Pros: Excellent bass, pretty good detail in the Highs and the Mids are actually present. Easy connection options, good amount of inputs. DTS and Dolby sound pretty good with minimal speaker tweaking.

Cons: Takes quite a bit of option and speaker tweaking on the PC if you're connected via analog. Good sound card/onboard is a must.

Overall Review: I just upgraded from the Logitech Z5300e 5.1 system which was analog only and had just one main input. The overall sound is better on the z906 but setup was much easier on the old system. I think the main difference is that the old system was primarily intended for PC/analog consoles at the time and the z906 is intended for just about everything you can throw at it except HDMI. It is almost a receiver. Which makes sense as the analog connection isn't tuned for games out of the box. Digital seems fine though.

Pros: -Good price for 5.1 Surround Sound
-Great sound quality just from integrated audio chip (no aftermarket sound card)
-Manageable size and weight

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great build quality, great sound, can get really loud, I have only taken it to 75% and cant go any louder without busting my ear drums. The bass is nice and solid and can handle any music and movies I throw at it.

Cons: -Price, its a little on the high side.
-Remote range is not very good, you have to point the remote almost exactly at the RF receiver or else it does not work (even with changing the batteries).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers

Pros: I bought these to replace an old set of Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 Speakers. What a world of difference. Even using the supplied speaker wire they are very crisp, and clear. The Fronts, Center, Rears, and Bass can all be controlled separately using the control module. I am using a Toslink cable from my Creative Sound Card to the speakers. Next I will by thicker speaker cable.

Cons: The only real downside is that the lights on the controller module are orange instead of blue or red (Not deducting for that)

Overall Review: People this is not a $1,000- + Stereo set so do not expect them to sound like that kind of set up. This is my 3rd set of Computer 5.1 speakers two Creative and one other set (I think they were Hercules). Anywho these are by far the most superior COMPUTER SPEAKERS I have owned

5 out of 5 eggsLOUD POWER

Pros: Lots of power! I haven't need to crank this thing beyond half volume just because it's pretty loud at the point. Sounds great, though I'm no audiophile. Supports Dolby and DTS. Has tons of inputs for multiple things if you want to use it for just more than your computer. Very studry.

Cons: I can't think of any.

Overall Review: Very happy with this system and glad I bought it. You won't be wasting money if you get it!

5 out of 5 eggsUpgrade from Logitech Z-5500

Pros: Compared to the Z-5500 these have additional digital inputs as well as better mounting points (for wall-mount installations). The sound quality is still wonderful in the new Z906 series. Also, the "brick" or controller if you will looks better and the remote is more simple.

Cons: Non thus far...

Overall Review: I purchased the Z-5500 set about five years ago and have experience absolutely no issues with them. I use them mainly for movies and video games. I decided to update my surround system so I purchased the new Z906 series and I am very pleased; so much in fact that I bought two additional sets to give to family this Christmas.

5 out of 5 eggsYou Won't Regret Buying These

Pros: - Powerful!
- Individual speaker and bass level
- Great input selections

Cons: - None, really.

Overall Review: I wanted to the Z906's predecessor, the Z-5500 for literally over 5 years. The price slowly but surely went up as the Z-5500 became more and more popular. I decided that I had waited so long, I was just buy the successor to the Z-5500. Once I heard Logitech released the Z906, I didn't wait long to buy it and I'm glad I didn't. I was upgrading from a Creative 5.1 set that I bought several years ago for about $100. They were decent but can't hold a candle next to the Z906.

Some people like to debate if the Z906 or Z5500 is better. I found a professional review on the Z906 that compared to it to the Z5500. The conclusion was that the Z-5500 did have a slightly better bass but that the Z906's bass was tighter and more accurate. Which is usually preferred for movies and gaming. I love bass and the Z906 doesn't disappoint. I have a decibel meter and measured the Z906 at over 130 decibels.

Long story, short. Buy the Z906, they don't disappoint.

5 out of 5 eggsLove 'em

Pros: What can I say? 5.1 surround & THX. Great improvement from the LogiTech Z4 2.1. Have Dolby & DTS included. Used to have the 5.1 Logitech made prior to these 3 - 4 years ago, but sadly were stolen along with the 1st computer I built.
No sound card installed still sound great, except for the bass seeming a touch weak from what I remember from the prior ones but I had a nice creative sound card in my other computer and am running on the mother board audio now (Asus sabertooth).

Cons: When running the setup check I don't hear the sub-woofer but it seems to be working properly, The light indicating Dolby or DTS signal hasn't ever come on but the mother board has Dolby & DTS decoder so could be the reason. Like I said above - bass a tad weak - lack of sound card?

Overall Review: Love Newegg - always get things on the 2nd day (live 300 miles away. They go past me to Sacramento and come back a 100 miles). Great going UPS, good job!

I live in Okinawa, Japan and have to ship them to an FPO AP address and only took 10 days, Overall great speakers and a great company.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Speaker System

Pros: - Setup was easy
- Price is not bad at all
- The sound is very clean and full
- The Sub woofer pumps out plenty of bass.
- Movies and Games sound great.

Cons: There are really no cons, however, I did not see any mounting brackets if you are going to mount the speakers up high or on a wall. Nails and a hammer will solve this though since there are mounting holes in the speakers on the back.

Overall Review: I have a 24 inch Samsung SyncMaster and I just installed a Blu-Ray drive as well. These speakers make watching movies awesome and I would highly recommend these for anyone who wants a theater grade sound system for a pretty decent price.

5 out of 5 eggsz-5300 vs z906

Pros: everything logitech says they are. ive been a loyal logitech customer (everything logitech can make for the computer... thats what i have) never been disapointed

Cons: no hdmi :.(... and doesn't come with the optical cable! so if you have a good sound card or an optical out onboard you need to buy one of these cables separately.

Overall Review: i couldnt find a review for people who upgraded, yes upgraded from the Z-5300 to these everyone has their own personal preferences in speakers.they definitely have heavy drivers and project an awesome clear sound. i dont know if i would play these on a cheap sound card or on board, but im using the X-FI Fatality pro titanium, another amazing product. Overall i would say that i am not disappointed at all, and that these are worth buying. Thank you logitech for pleasing me over and over again!

5 out of 5 eggsWarning: This will wake up the neighbors!

Pros: I first bought the little brother Logitech Z625 and I was very impressed since. This one packs a mean punch. For a small room setup this one is very loud, I loved listening to Music when 3D Stereo is enabled, Surround Setup is very surreal you won't leave your room for a while after setting this up.

Cons: Hard to mount, Need screw.
Honestly they can just put the normal mounting holes for easy wall mounting.
No Optical Cables included, My previous Logitech Z625 got one.

Overall Review: Fair Warning though, If you are living outside the US and used to plugging electronics in 220 volts, This one is 110 volts.
All in all this one is one is a good find considering the level of performance of the speakers is on par with those with receivers at high price range. Also this is very hard to find in the Philippines.

5 out of 5 eggsBest speakers i've owned

Pros: Everything. These are by far the best speakers i have owned. Setting them up was easy, and the wire length was awesome. The bass is rich and powerful, and the speakers sound glorious. My biggest reason for these speakers was for the remote (i'm lazy), and its the cherry on top of it all.You will not regret buying this product. Logitech, you guys have outdone yourselves.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsLogitech Z906 5.1 Surround Sound System

Pros: These speakers are excellent quality, Well built, and look good. They have crisp, clean, and powerful bass. The console allows adjustment of the sub, rear and center speakers as well as allows for switching of multiple inputs and between 5.1, 2.1 and 4.1. A nice feature they have is the decoding of Dolby DTS surround sound, which is amazing. Finally 500W RMS is more than you could ever need for power, they become uncomfortable to listen to before you even get close to reaching full volume.

Cons: This is not so much a Con but rather something I would like to see improved, and is not bad enough to even take off an egg. However, the control console is a little on the large side for what it is, and seems like it could have been slimmed down a bit for those of us who have limited desk space. Also a digital/LCD display never hurts on something that costs $400.

Overall Review: I have paired these speakers with a Sound Blaster Z audio card, and have them running Dolby Digital dts surround sound through fiber optic input. I have to say that this is without a doubt the best sounding audio combo I've ever owned. I really adds another layer to the immersion of games, music and movies, and I find myself hearing more clearly what is being said in those quiet parts of blu-ray movies and games. It really is a world of difference from your average 2.1 computer speaker systems.

Ive owned, well, a lot of Logitech products over the years. I am constantly impressed with the quality of their high end peripherals. I am not at all dissapointed with my set, and would recommend them to anyone who wants a very high quality audio system, and either has or is planning to get a decent sound card.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Ive had these things for almost a year now. you can basically set them up for almost anything as well. More than enough wire to set up the full 5.1. The sub has a pretty big bang without even trying to use it hard either. Great sound, and the best system ive had.

Cons: The 5.1 3D mode isnt worth while on this system and if you go for optical cable dont expect using any surround sound unless you use 3D which isnt (as i said) worth it. Keep with the plugs the speakers come with.

Overall Review: i have this paired with the sound blaster fatility thx sound card and it is a beast! Cant use any of the cars software if i use optical, but i only use that when i listen to music as it puts out louder highs, meds, and lows

Pros: Sounds great! I have placed all six speakers within arms legnth reach of my ears. The subwoofer resides near my feet underneath the table upon which my keyboard rests.

Cons: None to speak of, none anticipated.

Overall Review: Buy these if you're still listening to 2.1 audio at your workstation.

4 out of 5 eggsA-M-A-Z-I-N-G

Pros: -Crisp, Clear sound
-Great sounding bass
-Amazing 5.1 system, true THX
-Long wires included
-The main control unit is very user friendly and easy to use.
-Speakers are not too big, and they have a really nice design

Cons: -Subwoofer is an downgrade from the Logitech Z-5500
-Speakers dont have built in mounts like the Z-5500

Overall Review: The bass is still good, and for my use for these speakers, I don't need more base. If you are going to be using these for your computer, for gaming and such, then go for it. These are more than enough, and the 5.1 system is simply amazing when watching movies and gaming. Forgot to mention that music sounds very good too, everything is clear. If the Z-5500 was still around I would probably have went with that system. I have always trusted Logitech, and you can deffinitely call my a Logitech fanboy. Speakers, webcams, mice, keyboards. You name it and logitech has it. Logitech also has a great warranty which is why I have always went with them. Great Job Logitech!! True THX!

5 out of 5 eggsAbout what i expected which is A+

Pros: First off, i owned the Z-2300 before this, which is basically the 2.1 version of this products' previous model the Z-5500.

The Z-2300's had tweeters, and these don't which concerned me at first. But after side-by-side listening, i decided the Z-906's were clearer in every way, more full sound (this was tested with the 906's set to 2.1). The Sub is also a huge difference from the Z-2300, richer bass, more powerfull too. (130watt sub on 2300 i think).

The control panel on this is actually great after you get used to it in 3 minutes of use. Its so easy to switch between digital in, auxiliary, etc. Its also so easy with the panel to adjust each speakers individual volume, if ur rears aren't loud enough 20 seconds of adjusting and your good. The panel has a line in which is awesome plus the headphone jack.

Remote is great just as easy to change settings

Good long wires for rear satellites, decent speaker wire but theres better im sure

Cons: No tweeters like I said before, this could be nice yet i cant say i can notice the difference without one vs the 2300's although im sure better sets with tweeters could easily sound better.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Very Very NICE!

Pros: As a DJ I know a thing or two about sound quality and these by far are some of the best speakers I've used in my day by logitech. I use these in my in home studio due to the fact that I run Traktor off my MacBook Pro and have the external S4 DJ controller. Originally just bought these for some directional sound for my gaming and figured eh why not lets hook up Traktor to em. I was completely blown away. As other reviewers said go pick up a pair of copper cables as I do notice minor crackling coming from the satellites, but hey you want perfection you gotta spend a couple extra bucks.

Cons: They didn't come with copper cables and unfortunately I don't live alone therefore I have few hours of the day to really let loose with these =/. Was also hoping that they would include the wall mounts but thats wishful thinking.

Overall Review: Definitely give these a test run somewhere just to see what I'm talking about, you won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Value

Pros: I had this system's predecessor since 2005. The only reason I had to replace it was because it was time to upgrade. I tested this system under heavy load and tried to distort the sound. Eventually I managed it but I had to artificially boost everything to do it. Under normal use, and even harder use, this system will perform better than more expensive systems. With the ability to upgrade your speakers later and its multi-input capabilities, this is worth every penny.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsMore than I Expected

Pros: Ive never paid for quality speakers before and i know that may make my opinion less valuable but man.. i didn't expect to get what i got from this product.. i have yet to even turn it past 75% because i feel i will easily get a complaint from my apartment complex.. not the best system for apartments because they are so dang loud and clear sounding.. THX makes the difference thats for sure..

I cant wait to move into my house later this year and get this things full potential!!! Anyone hating on this product either is just jealous because they have the 5500 or they just have VERY VERY high expectations..

For the price vs quality, you cannot complain.. well worth it for sure.. anyone who thinks otherwise should get slapped in the face and be called spoiled.

Cons: So far i cant think of any or have seen any..

Overall Review: 1 thing is that the digital cable works very well plugged into my HDTV, literally don't need to hook different inputs for PS3, Google TV, Dish DVR unless you dont want to unplug and plug back in.... but i tried anyway and no sound came out when plugged in directly to Dish DVR and PS3.. works PERFECT connected to the TV so this is def not a complaint.. and first time dealing with digital audio cables (fiber optic) so i am sure i did something wrong but either way im extremely happy.. if anyone knows where im messing up email me im sure its just a noob thing.. viper1549@gmail.com

Pros: The reviews are right on this one. For what they cost, you can't go wrong. To get something better you would need to be ready to dish some cash out.

Cons: Zilch.

Pros: The speakers are good, the sub is mostly good.
Included remote is nice.

5 out of 5 eggsLoud and Mean

Pros: Very big subwoofer produces strong consistent bass. Depending on which tune you are listening to or would like to listen to, adjust your equalizer and every will be superb. Had it straight into my Gigabyte DQ6 mobo onboard sound and so far it sounded wonderful (can't wait to pair it up with Creative Sound Blaster Fatal1ty).

Cons: It's a premium unit and I would like to have a wall mount included which it does not and that cost around $30+. I hope I don't have to RMA this thing, it weight alot.

Overall Review: Been looking at this for a while and finally had a reason to buy it and that my Creative T5400 (very old) starting to have problem. Most of the gear I had in my PC now is Logitech. They had wonderful services. I had a few RMA and it was quick and painless. I never regret buying a Logitech from Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsNot the Z-5500's But They Are Great

Pros: Overall look of the system is very nice. The finish and build quality of the system is great.
Speaker and signal wires are the perfect length for a computer sound system.
Compared to the old Z-5500 control pod I like the new one better.
More inputs compared to the Z-5500.
Subwoofer is less "boomy" than the Z-5500 and sounds clean.

Cons: I am not a huge fan of the "clicky" buttons on the remote but it works.
Loses settings when unplugged (as in sub level, etc).
Smaller sub compared to the Z-5500 (not really a con as it is cleaner sounding than the 10" the Z had)

Overall Review: I got this set on a RMA from Logitech when my control pod died. I luckily was able to make a cable to bypass the control pod on my Z-5500's and they will continue to live on as my home theatre setup. As for these Z906's the sub really comes to live when placed in a corner.

I honestly don't know why there is so much fuss from Z-5500 owners about the quality of these speakers. I find the quality of the system to be as good if not better than the Z-5500s. I was thinking about buying these until I got them for free from Logitech.

I have had their Z-5300, Z-5500, and G51s. My Z series speakers died in the past but they warrantied my 5300s 6 months out of warranty and didn't ask for the whole set back. Their customer support is always fast and friendly. They have me as a customer for life and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I gave it 4 stars because of the remote and it is technically less than the Z-5500s but for what they are (a COMPUTER sound system) they are amazing.

Pros: I have had logitech speakers my whole life. I started with the z3300's then had the z5500's and now the z906. I am pleased with this product. Strong highs, and solid bass. The amp stays alot cooler than my 3300's. I hope I can get a long service life out of them like my other ones!

Cons: I like the remote. But its just something else to lose or break.

4 out of 5 eggsSo there i was ballsdeep in a tubesock..

Pros: Okay..for all the people hating on this system, let me break down a few steps so that those can understand how to get the most out of these speakers.
First off...they are not $1000+ set of professional grade 5.1 drivers with a standalone Receiver (amp)..you get what you pay for...that said, here's what I did to get midgrade sound from these speakers using a PC of course:
1. Ditch the included cables....ALL of THEM...garbage quality 18 GA cable and SPDIF cable...go with 16GA copper (brand doesnt matter, just go with whatever copper) $8... plus optical cable from newegg $5......$13
2. Get a couple tweeters from am@zon...not too expensive just look for ones with good reviews..got mine for $13...
3. Get yourself a good sound card IMPORTANT..I got Creatives xfi titanium fatality for $80..dont skimp on this..
4. settings settings settings! Play with settings to get the most from your z906 set (keep in mind i got my set with the half off promo sooo i got it for $200)......(continued)

Cons: (continued from pros)..here's what I did:
Immediately since you now have added tweeters connected to front left and right speaker jacks, you will notice higher treble, go to treble setting in the sound card software and lower to 4-40% (preference). Now set software to 5.1 in the speakers tab, keep crossover frequency at 80hz, set CMSS 3D tab to 30-40% front with surround or expand setting to Surround, set EAX tab (this will make the speakers shine in music) to theater mode @3-8dB (whatever sounds good for you), go to graphic equalizer tab and select your genre of music (adjust frequencies if you want), go to xfi crystalizer tab and set to 50%+, next go to encoder tab and select DTS or Dolby Digital Live (again your preference) i have DTS. Now using your Creative control for the speakers, hit the LEVEL button...adjust the subwoofer option to your preference, press twice and adjust rear speakers keep them to about 4-5..raise center speaker. Done...adjust above settings for ear preferenc

Overall Review: I got tired of seeing bad reviews from inept people who dont quite know how to get the most from their speakers..keep in mind my above settings are for PC use only, the speakers will still sound great with PS3...you may have too much treble with both tweeters for PS3, if this happens simply disconnect one tweeter and you should be fine. I HOPE THIS HELPS MOST..if you are not satisfied, RMA the speakers, get yourself an onky0 receiver ($300+) and a decent set of satelites and sub..this of course will cost you anywhere from $600 on upwards of thousands of dollars so stop complaining..these speakers are bottom of the barrel when it comes to home theater but they can still pack a punch when used correctly..

1 out of 5 eggsPOOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Pros: Worked nice for 6 months sound was very crisp and had good base response

Cons: After 6 months this unit stopped working. I have tried to contact the manufacture and after 2 weeks they send me a e-mail asking me if I had everything connected properly. I even tried to call them and never could get anyone to answer. After spending this kind of money you would think the manufacture would back his product. I have purchased $50.00 head sets and had response from the manufacture in 2 days

Overall Review: With the number of good quality speakers out there and the total lack of customer support from Logitech I would highly recommend spending your money with a different manufacture

5 out of 5 eggsQuell Beast

Pros: This product is lightweight, therefore allows easy manipulation. The included inputs allow for much greater connectivity (despite many arguments). THX Certification is nice, and built in digital up-scaling is nice, it seems to work fine for me.

Cons: I did not purchase it from Newegg. The included speakers wires are not high quality. There is only one standard AV style audio in. Speakers are not wireless.

All the commentary made by people about "Behind the times" products.
#1 7.1 systems are almost useless, the system has to digitally upscale signals from 5.1 because few and far between are movies and music recorded in 7.1. I own a 7.1 system in my living room, it's nice, but it can't upscale a 2.0 signal and I haven't seen one that can.

That being said if anyone can find a great way to put out a 7.1 system, its Logitech, and I wish it was there and the tech was more widely used - but hey, that's not Logitech's fault.

Overall Review: This is not a AV Receiver. When researching this product (here and elsewhere) I became exceedingly tired of reading reviews that mentioned the lack of HDMI. Yes HDMI is amazing, but this is designed to be used with a computer and the added inputs are a bonus -> take them as such. To make a pass through system, it would need to be bigger, bulkier, and probably $150 - $200 more. If that's what you're looking for, pick up a Yamaha or Onkyo Receiver and some Klipsch speakers. Also, many computers (Logitech's target consumer) still do not have HDMI connections.

My next 'Other Thought' is addressed to a Wood vs Plastic comment. When you build a speaker that is meant to create its very own intonation, you use 'Tone wood' but these speakers and these systems are designed to create acoustics and intonation from the room they are put in. Again, if you wanted that sort of thing, buy it, don't purchase a product and claim faults in it based on details easily identified in the photos.

5 out of 5 eggsNO REGRETS

Pros: My $900 1000 Watt RMS Samsung surround sound system's receiver crapped the bed 2 days after the warranty expired making the 3 ohm speakers basically worthless. I was weary at first before I purchaced these speakers based on a lot of mixed reviews. The more I looked into the negative reviews the more I realized that most of the disappointment comes from the idea that these speakers should perform better than the Z-5500. Although the performance is almost identical, the extra features do make this a better product, mainly because of all the different connection types and styling. These speakers sound GREAT, crisp clear sound with a powerful subwoofer that will not disapoint. I have the sub powered 50% and that is almost too much bass for my liking, meaning there is more than enough power to rumble your house.

Cons: None for the price of $347 (free shipping). I see some cons about a lack of HDMI input. I do not feel this is a con at all but more of an uneducated observation. Digital optical is all you really need (audio quality is the same as HDMI). I have this system hooked up to my samsung LCD via digital optical and the sound is amazing. My cable box, blu ray player, and Wii are all hooked up to the TV so the digital optical out from my tv is the only connection I need to have to receive sound through the 906 speakers (even though I can hook them all up to the surround sound system if I choose). HDMI is both video and audio, so it wouldn't make much sense (monetarily) to include an HDMI port on an AUDIO ONLY system.

Overall Review: I dare you to find a THX certified surround sound speaker system for less than $400.

I am extremely pleased with this purchase. My only advice would be to ignor any review that is comparing these to the Z5500. If you choose to believe them then buy the Z5500 (you can still find them online), they are about the same price, if not more. Just be aware that they do not have all the extra ports to connect your devices, no digital optical. If you're looking for a inexpensive home theater surround sound system, look no further.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent sound quality

Pros: Very easy set up and great for hearing loss.
Sound quality is excellent, upgraded from Logitech z-560 (4.1) and much these have much more fidelity. Very punchy bass but not distorted or flat. Build quality is also very good. The control unit is intuitive and easy to fine tune the sound to your liking. Very Satisfied.

Cons: Already got complaints from the neighbors :)

Overall Review: The system is tied in with two Kef towers and two ES-Studio monitors on a separate amp. Getting the two systems to sync properly was difficult, but not the fault of the Logitech setup.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not honor 2-year Warranty.

Pros: input selection great.
good sound.
but old ver. were better.

Cons: After getting my old z5500 control pod replaced twice, Logitech finally sent me the z906. Before getting the z906, they mailed me z320 set instead. Finally get the right z906 set in. I started getting the four input lights of death after the first month. I am not even a heavy user. I only turn them up to 30% volume for three week for get a full proper break in. After that i only turned them up to never pass 50% volume, because I didn't want to bother my family.

Overall Review: Logitech would not replace them even though it was still under the 2-year warranty. You can't even order or buy replacement part for the system. I just have a 2set of z5500 and z906 satellite speakers just chilling in my closet.

5 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: After coming from a 40w 2.1 Logitech Z4 speakers that were over five years old, and never experiencing the Z5500, I finally decided to upgrade to something a little more serious than my Z4. I regret nothing.

- Loud. When people say they don't go over 3/4 volume because it hurts, they are not kidding.
-Bass is great. Shakes the room. Night and day compared to my Z4.
-Build seems solid except control unit (see cons).
-Wire length was acceptable.
-Looks great!

Cons: The control unit is built a little cheap. Would have been nice to add some metal into the control unit instead of the cheap plastic buttons. The volume knob seems sturdy though.

Remote is useless unless you aim right at the receiver.

Overall Review: If you are stuck trying to decide between a $50-$100 5.1 surround sound and these bad boys, suck it up, spend the cash and get quality with the z906. You will smile when you first hear them.

3 out of 5 eggsKeep the Z5500s

Pros: Nice looking and compact.

Cons: Not nearly the power of the Z5500s. I do agree with the posts from owners of the 5500s. I also have the generation prior to the z5500 and now I have all 3 set up in different rooms in the house. The sub on the Z906 is nothing compared to the 5500 and the distortion is ridiculous. The 5500s can be CRANKED and you do not get hardly any distortion. The Z906 becomes distorted at very low levels compared to the 5500. It's a shame Logitech did not build off of the 5500s. That is the best system they have delivered. I am going to try these for a few more weeks and if I do not see any benefits, I am returning them. The Z906 should be half the price they are charging for what you receive.

Overall Review: Hold on to those 5500s for as long as possible and treat them very well. Not sure if Logitech will ever make as high a quality speaker system again like the Z5500s.

3 out of 5 eggsMixed Results

Pros: Easy to setup and use. It provides enough power to fill a medium sized room, and the sound is clean. The speakers can be balanced seperately from each other using the control unit. The sub does a good job of providing the low end.

Cons: The center speaker faceplate was mounted up-side-down. Not a big deal, but come on - how hard is that to do right when assembling it?

Single cone satellite speakers - no tweater.

Overall Review: I did not buy the Z906 from newegg, but locally.

I had been using a Klipsch Promedia 4.1 system for many years, and the subwoofer finally gave out. I wanted to replace it with a higher end 5.1 system, and the Z906 is really the only player in that segment right now. The amp in the Z906 provides as much power as the Klipsch, but the sound is much smoother and cleaner.

Comparing the Klipsch sats to the Z906, there is a world of difference. The Klipsch speakers are far superior. The Z906 sats sound flat and lifeless. Consequently, I put the 4 Z906 sats back in the box. I'm not using them, but rather sticking with the much better Klipsch sats. It really cannot be over stated how bad I found the sound of the Z906 sats. If you don't compare the Z906 sats to a quality speaker, you might not notice how bad they are, but do a comparison if you can. You'll notice right away that no amount of EQ tweaking is going to bring out any life from these sats.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy, likely defective

Pros: Great system...when it works

Cons: It has had issues multiple times in my ownership of not working and just popping and crackling noises coming from it. Resetting the system did nothing. This is a common issue apparently that Logitech has not fixed. It may go out in 6 moths or a year and a half but it will eventually.

Pros: Came in 3 days to Hawaii. Better than the X-540s for sure. Louder bass.

2 out of 5 eggsI am greatly disappointed by the z906, but even more saddened by its price.

Pros: The overall exterior design is better than the z5500
The Control Unit is an improvement over the z5500's

Cons: What it boils down to is that the z906 is a much cheapened version of the z5500. It is not really a "successor" to the z5500 as Logitech would like you to believe.

Study the specs, the components used in each system(especially the amps), or just listen to both systems side by side. It will become overwhelmingly obvious that there is no chance in hell the z906 should be priced anywhere near the z5500.

Yet, Logitech assumes that it can profit by duping people to believe the new system is an equal, or, even an improvement, over the z5500.

I'm not just bashing Logitech for no reason. I have used and love their mice, webcams, and speakers(z5500, x540). I just can't accept with a clear conscience their pricing and advertising/marketing of the z906.

Overall Review: I have yet to see a positive review of these speakers from people who had previously owned the z5500.

It irritates me to see people praise this product by comparing it to a 80-90 dollar 5.1 channel system simply because they don't realize that Logitech has made an inferior product that costs way less to manufacture(but maybe looks better) and decided to sell it for more money than their old, better product all the while acting as if it is an upgrade in order to hide the simple fact that it is a considerable downgrade.

Logitech had an awesome product and had a chance to reinforce their position as a top-quality computer speaker manufacturer. But instead of improving on the few issues of their great product(such as the notorious failure rate of the z5500's control unit), they decided to join the many companies seeking to profit not by means of quality, but by means of cost-cutting and deceptive marketing.

I am greatly disappointed in the z906, but even more saddened by its pric

3 out of 5 eggsIt's good and bad at the same time

Pros: It's a 5.1 system for your computer that works well with either analog or optical inputs. For use in a small room it can produce nice enough sound right out of the box with no tweaking needed unless you're a stickler for particular frequencies. It also comes with a proper sub woofer (more on this later) rather than a cheap and rattly plastic shoebox like other 5.1 PC bundles tend to come with. The control unit is easy to use, though it's not much of a control panel. It just adjusts the volume and can switch between 3 stereo virtualizations that are all pretty weak. It also comes with a remote, the I get the feeling that the 3 AAA batteries that go into it are probably worth more than the remote itself. It's happy meal tier cheap.

All in all, if you aren't an audiophile, this is probably a solid purchase for your machine. It delivers what it promises.

Cons: For the asking price, people are being robbed. This is not a $400 system. Something closer to $250 would be more fair. The satellite speakers are about what I expected. There's nothing special about them and the sounds aren't as full as they should be. The included wires made me cringe when I saw none of them were even copper, but whatever. The worst and most baffling aspect of this system though is that the receiver is built into the sub woofer.. This presents a whole host of problems ranging from never being able to use a better sub to never being able to use a better receiver. It's also lacking an HDMI port so you're stuck with analog or toslink. Not a terrible thing but for $400 this is kind of silly. The sub also lacks phase switches and frequency knobs so you're flat-out stuck with whatever frequency the manufacturer set the sub catch.

Also, this "165" watt sub is less powerful than my 85 watt Kenmore and my 100 watt Pioneer and produces a distinctly dirtier bass while the other two produce a velvet-like smooth and deep richness. Again, because the receiver is part of the sub, you can't just replace it. Very bizarre design choice, presumably to cut costs. The receiver should have been part of the control console. Alas, it is what it is and the likes of intelligent Cambridge Soundworks old designs are dead and gone.

Overall Review: I'm not displeased nor regretting this purchase but that's not going to stop me from having a problem with the many flaws of this design. It's fine for most people, I think, but some of us have more acute/sensitive hearing than other people. It's part of human trait dynamics. For us, we need something more refined and that's not our fault, it's just a genetic quirk. I see a lot of people disliking the reviews of such people for being critical of aspects of this system and I don't think it's fair, nor do I think people can appreciate that the reviews that are written are genuinely pointing out flaws that most people who aren't as audio sensitive can perceive.

That said, I doubt this system would disappoint many people and it's perfect for a small room setup like for a computer. At the same time, however, the unit is almost comically overpriced. If you can get it on sale then do so, but $400+ for this stuff is a bit of a ripoff.

Oh, and if you are using the realtek onboard audio, that's all fine and dandy. Perfectly functional... but you'll want something a bit more robust in digital audio capability with this system as the realtec hardware/codecs can only produce weak sound fidelity. Certainly not enough for this system to take advantage of.

5 out of 5 eggsA fantastic follow-up (but perhaps not a successor) to the z5500

Pros: Reiterating what a previous poster said, the senseless bashing from annoyed z5500 owners who clearly do not even own the system is absurd.

The Logitech z906 is a fantastic companion to the z5500, with asthetics that don't look like a cheap silver and blue toy, and performance that is equal to the 5500 while at a price that's much cheaper than the formers MSRP.

I have owned various Logitech speakers for years, all the way from early 2.1 systems, to the x-540, the z5500, and now the z906. I have always been impressed, because I knew exactly what I wanted. A surround sound system for my PC. Logitech knows how to target their market, and people need to realise that these are aimed at PC users first, and everyone else second.

Cons: The lack of HDMI is a serious oversight on Logitech's part. There's really no reason for this system not to have it. Also, for 400$, you'd think they could include a TOSLink or S/PDIF cable. All you get in the box are analog PC cables.

The speaker connection cables are of.... questionable quality. They appear to be the same as the z5500 cables. I bought a 100ft spool of quality speaker wire and suggest anyone else do the same, you don't need to be an audiophile to hear the difference.

Overall Review: I think Logitech could have done more and this might have made people happier, but I think they still would have complained about the z5500 getting dethroned from it's flagship spot.

I believe the z906 was meant to compliment the z5500 as a better, cheaper, more bang-for-your-buck surround system rather than a 'successor' to it's legacy. (Notice, 'successor' is used nowhere on the Logitech description of the 906.)

I hope we can see a 7.1 system with HDMI on the horizon.

5 out of 5 eggsBe Prepared For Bleeding Ear Drums

Pros: Great speaker system, clear and crisp sounds. Movies or gaming or music, you'll be set for some bleeding ear drums with a sense of hyper-realism when that bullet ricochets next to you. LOUD, powerful sub, heavy satellites. The control pod on the device is nice, switch between inputs on the fly.

Cons: Expensive (so?), no TOS link cable included (you're going to WANT to have that). Software support could be *better* but I'm not knocking an egg off because it's probably just because I'm running this on *nix

Overall Review: I've had countless Logitech products, this makes my 3rd speaker set from them. Look, if you want a speaker system that will have deaf people telling you to turn these down; look no further; half-power and I can hear them across a 1800sq ft house no problem. They're expensive, so what? These are most likely the greatest speakers you'll get for the money.

Pros: Solid sound
Good value

Cons: Doesn't come with a Toslink cable

Overall Review: You NEED an optical audio cable to get the most out of the system. Without a digital connection to your audio source, the sound is somewhat underwhelming and out of balance at times.

5 out of 5 eggsOUTSTANDING

Pros: No where can you get a better set of speakers for a computer! These are for the true Audiophiles. The frequency responses that are obtainable from the Z906 is amazing. Coupled with the sound card in my system, the sounds obtained from these speakers rival my 165W RMS per channel system in our theater room!

Yes, it takes time to set this set of speakers up correctly; however, if done right, you will have a system that is "best-of-the-best".

Having the right equipment is paramount to getting the most out of these speakers. For those that reviewed this set and said that they had very little volume from them must have very little experience with computers, my set can literately knock the pictures off the walls! At either high or low volumes you can hear all of the highs and lows. At extreme high volumes this set of speakers will be likened to being in a live performance.

Cons: NONE

Overall Review: Couple these speakers with a SB 3D sound card through Tosslink and the DFX sound enhancer and you will have a sound system that will be the absolute envy. The DFX sound enhancer will allow close to studio quality of MP3 files; and, the Z906 speakers WILL bring the sounds of the MP3 to levels that you can't imagine possible.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT SPEAKERS

Pros: I Bought This Set from Another Retailer about 5 Years ago, and was doing a search to see if you can still buy them. You Can! I paid around 450$ for them back then. I have Jammed out and Pushed these to the limit many times. They sound great and I have had no Problems at all from them. They sound just as good 5 Years Later.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT!

Pros: 500w, control panel, 5.1, great style, sturdy...well constructed, adjustable volume control for specific speakers, THX, remote control, WALL MOUNTABLE (see other thoughts)

Cons: It doesn't make me waffles.

Overall Review: To mount these speakers you need a wall mounting kit that is 1/4" thread size. I bought a 3/8" thread size kit and had to find out the hard way after I received it. And they DO NOT make thread adapters/converters!!! Go for the OmniMount 10.0 kit, NOT 20.0!

5 out of 5 eggsUBER

Pros: All i can say is this is more beast then my current set up of my Infinity 650w speaker system. The sub just i dont know how to put it other then BEAST.The Tweeters are awesome and insane sounding in games movie's and music you hear everything even for a 5.1 System. This thing blew my mind away when i heard it for the 1st time.I have yet to play this past the 6th Dot on the level bar.Im scared i would be deaf if i did and have a heart attack from the massive beats the sub toss's out (ya i know a bit over board but still) this is worth the buck you DO GET YOUR BANG!!! Very well Built solid craftmenship from the wires the hook ups for the wires the speakers themselfs the inclosure's they are in the grills that protect the speaks the turning nob on the control box even the little hand remote is built awesome..Also love how when i get done playing my system my room smells like brand NEW speakers like this system just came off the line and into a box and to my house (best thing about newegg said it would arrive on the 29th on feb came on the 28 not even 3 day shipping) well i ordered it on 26th got it on the 28th.Man i can keep going on about this system but not enough space lol. JUST GET IT WOULD YOU...

Cons: Cant find any other then maybe um there is bit of a delay in the remote changing the volume on it kinda like it dont want to lol other then nothing at all everything is well solid built

Overall Review: Well if your wanting a good system for a nice room or garage something of that sort i would get this but for a very larg room more then i would say 900sqft this system might not be the idea set up but i will say if you do get it still it will play loud enough to hear its the sub that wont carry that good BUT STILL FREAKING WORTH GETTING..

4 out of 5 eggsalright

Pros: Alright bass. Games sound fine. Doesn't choke on heavy metal. Straightforward set up. Worked fine on first start up.

Cons: It's not great. Distorts at high volume and the adjustments you can do don't do anything to fix it. Definitely not for audiophiles.

These are a replacement for a set of Klipsch Promedia 5.1 that lost the central amp. The subwoofer on these is way smaller than the Promedia's. If this is the new high-water mark for 5.1 than the standard has fallen bad.

Overall Review: My old Promedia's had a "speaker mode" and "headphone mode." These don't, they mute when you plug in. The speaker cords had a colored band on the striped wire. Tended to come off when you unwound the wire, but it honestly helped keep connections straight.

5 out of 5 eggsa message to the haters

Pros: Simple controls
Highs
Bass

Cons: A bit of interference at high volumes
No ability to raise or lower volumes on front left and right channel even though you can on rear, sub, and center when in 5.1

Overall Review: I decided to take the plunge amidst all the negative reviews and I am not sad I did.

The speakers are pretty awesome. I wish there was a tweeter for better highs so the mids were a bit more pronounced.

Mind you I also completely threw out the bad wiring that came with and used 16 gauge dcs wire and an optical digital cable. Both are available on Newegg for a combined cost off about 26 dollars shipped.

If you do not spend the extra on those two things you will likely still be pleased but you really don't know what you are missing. There is a night and day difference in sound quality it'd very noticeable.

5 eggs because I am sick of all the negative reviews. Yes there are better items available. Yes you can go spend 1000 dollars or more buying a receiver and satellite speakers with a sub and get better sound but that's your prerogative. The speakers will more than satisfy an entry level to mid audiophile. I have a keen ear for music and can hear out of the normal frequency o

1 out of 5 eggscrippling flaw never fixed, DO NOT BUY

Pros: Remote
lots of input and connection options
one of the only surround setups I could find that still has the three-prong analog PC input (that I need)

Cons: -Failures aside, the unit is not worth $400. $200 would be somewhat reasonable.
-Didn't seem terribly loud for supposedly 500w. Could barely tell a difference over the 70w set it replaced (also Logitech, X-530)
-I HATE the speaker wire spring clip attachment. It's a massive pain to get standard copper braid speaker wire in there. Which you will likely have to use at the very least for the rear channels, because the included wire is super short (also very small gauge). I'm probably losing some signal quality from poor connection. Really should have used banana connectors or the screw-down posts, especially for $400.

And the big one, this unit WILL fail on you. Maybe within warranty, maybe not. There's a fatal flaw that's been a known issue for SEVERAL YEARS that they still apparently haven't fixed, or even bothered to acknowledge. Sound cuts out and starts popping, an the control unit won't respond. Eventually gives the 4 input "red ring of death" to draw an analogy after you mash the power button enough. Many reviews/reports say it's heat related, but mine never ran hot, just popped and stopped responding. None of the reset or jumper shorting "solutions" I found online (none from logitech, just other frustrated users) worked for me. Mine started failing just inside the warranty window, but I didn't recognize the problem as the speakers failing at first. I thought it was my video source corrupting or sound card failing (coming up on a decade old). By the time I realized the speakers were the problem, the warranty period was up and logitech refused to help. Wouldn't even let me pay for repair or spare parts. Just said "sorry, nothing we can do". Radio silence when I asked what they were doing for new units about this known issue for years.

Overall Review: I tried pulling the control board out of the subwoofer to see if there was anything obviously wrong, but beyond the sloppiest gluing job I've ever seen (they glued all the connections, presumably to prevent user servicing) nothing stuck out to to me. Note, I'm not an electronics "guy". Basically I was looking for loose connections, charring, or burst capacitors. Some time after that, the unit did start working again with minimal incidents of popping for about a month, but it has since seemingly bit the dust for good. It powers on, but makes no sound whatsoever, not even the popping that used to precede the sound cutting out.

1 out of 5 eggsAll Units Overheat

Pros: None

Cons: DO NOT PURCHASE THESE SPEAKERS!!

The Speakers have a technical flaw that when you connect any type of connection it starts amassing huge amounts of heat until you hear cracks and pops in the speakers. The average temperature in the unit after about 30 min of gaming is 150+ Deg!

1 out of 5 eggsLogitech is shipping known problems

Pros: Great paperweight

Cons: Failed right out of the box
Known control pod failures
When, not if, your pod fails, you can't buy the pod and have to buy an entire system again.

Overall Review: The unit failed right out of the box and even factory reset didn't work. Looking on the Logitech support site, many users have the same problem so Logitech is well aware of it and yet they keep shipping defective units rather than take the time to find root cause and engineer it correctly.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a Rocker like the Z-5500

Pros: The Z906 is not a rock star like the Z-5500 was because the subwoofer is a big downgrade but it is better for computers and gaming and probably more durable. I got mine under a warranty on the Z-5500 (rip) and missed the subwoofer badly for music until I got a BIC Acoustec PL-200 subwoofer with a Onkyo TX-NR808 a/v upconverter. The Onkyo has nice Z-5500 satellites and the PL-200 makes up for the subwoofer void nicely.

I use my 32" LG LH40 with 5.1 as a second computer screen or tv with the Onkyo. The Z906 uses two Monster THX certified fiber optic cables hooked up to the LG's optical pass thru and the computer.

Hooked up this way the Z906 is great for gaming and adds nicely to the Onkyo 7.1 THX Select 2 certified sound. I really love the 7.1 and 5.1 playing my music dvds simultaneously. The Z906 really adds to the sound quality.

The Z906 has a rich smooth sound and the satellites are better than the Z-5500s and seem to have a slightly higher volume capacity.

Cons: I had to put the subwoofer on the floor to hear it well which is not popular with my neighbors but neither is the BIC PL-200 so it does not matter when I am playing music or watching movies. When I am gaming it is louder at night so I need to be much more careful with the volume.

My Z906 had problems switching sources by failuire to recognize the signals until I got the two monster THX certified fiber optic cables but work fine now.

The controller has a nice volume indicator light and lower profile for desk tops BUT it is very hard to see what the sources are when you switch them from computer to tv.

The Z906 requires Dolby or dts which may be a problem for some but is has nice surround sound for those without it already. Even with my Gigabyte GTX 470 Super Overclock video card the Z906 had signal recognition problems until I got two Monster THX certified fiber optic cables. I had a 24K gold coaxial and a fiber optic cable but the Monster cable made a big improvement.

Overall Review: IF you get the Onkyo TX-NR808 and a good subwoofer you will not miss the Z-5500 and if you can hook up the Z906 to a tv optical pass thru it will rock your world.

I do strongly recommend a fan on any subwoofer heatsink IF you turn it up. The Z906 heatsink uses the new design top end subwoofers use and gets much hotter much easier so it must work much better. I bet the Z906 is much more durable too as a result.

My LG hdtv really sucked as a tv if set to 1080p distance from the computer then used as a tv because cable tv is only 720p. 720p is half the resolution of 1080p and thus requires twice the viewing distance to see comfortably. The contrast was rather stark as I have a 27.5" HannsG at 1920 x 1200p for a main screen. Then the Onkyo upconverter addition made the LG a super nice screen by drastically improving my a/v clarity and keeping the 1080p resolution up.

The Onkyo saved my LG as a tv and made the Z906 a real addition instead of a disappointment.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the $$$

Pros: Good quality speakers, wall mountable, comes with sufficient cable length, crisp clear sound, lots and lots of inputs. Bass sounds great! Is adjustable with my Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty.

Cons: Hard to find compatible wall mounting hardware. I bought some universal kit and had to modify the brackets to get them to work.

Overall Review: Had these for about a year now. I put a beatin on them listening to music and gaming and they still sound like they day I bought em. I have Bose for my home theatre and I have to say these Logitech speakers are on par with them. Dont know why some are leaving bad reviews....Maybe they need to upgrade their sound card and quit using their poopy onboard Realtek junk.

5 out of 5 eggsFree receiver with every purchase

Pros: Ok, so maybe it's not a full on receiver, but this speaker set can have 2 optical inputs plus RCA and a few other input options - that's just crazy

Also, the sound is way more than you expect for the price.

Speakers are heavy, always a sign of a good product.

All satellites are 67 watt RMS - RMS is the king of specifications where speakers are concerned.

Bass is BOOMING! 165 watt RMS!

Cons: Only con would be the front and center channels are small cones. As many audiophiles know, you get better mid range sounds (such as vocals/voice) from a 5 or 6 inch speaker, no matter what Bose and others try to say, still no reason to deduct an egg, I mean, what do you EXPECT for this low of a price with all these inputs!?!?

Overall Review: Next step up from these speakers would be Klipsch. In my opinion anyway. I own Klipsch reference series speakers and bought these for a 2nd gaming rig I didn't want to spend a fortune on - couldn't be happier with the price to performance and the features packed into this little set.

You will NOT be disappointed - Newegg has the best price on the web for these, as usual :)

2 out of 5 eggsz906

Pros: They have good bass, kinda. At least the satellites work this time.

Cons: The sub makes an annoying rattling noise when playing anything, its really annoying as it audibly stands out.

Overall Review: This is my second pair, the first came with defective satellites, now the sub on this one is a piece of junk. I think I'm done with Logitech. It's really annoying to spend 330.99 on a product that is worth way less than its priced at, and annoying when it comes defective both times.

5 out of 5 eggsWow, just wow!

Pros: Man, these things are great. If you're looking for a set of beefy speakers, look NO further! These are great for gaming, music, videos... If it uses sound, these will not only deliver, they will impress!

Cons: If I had to pick these apart and find something I didn't like about them, it's got to be that there weren't any mounts for the rear speakers. No matter, you can set them on anything behind you, or (like me) pick up a set of speaker stands for pretty cheap, as these speakers are compatible with such things.

Overall Review: If Chuck Norris were speakers, he would be scared of these bad boys.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the Dollars

Pros: Very nice looking and solidly built. has mounting lugs cast into the sat. speaker housings for stand or wall mounting.
Comes complete with a necessary wiring for connections to a computer system. No digital audio connections cables but for the price I didn't expect them too. Easy to setup and has very good sound quality in Movies, gaming, and music. I have Z-680 and Z-5500 Logitech speaker which are very good computer speakers and Logitech's latest offering is no disappointment. The feature I like the best concerning the Z-906 is the newly styled control pod. Takes up less space on your desk, can view all settings at a glance and is easy to adjust and turn power off. Don't let the Z-5500 vs. Z-906 comparisons sway you the Z-906's are a solid purchase. The Best for the Buck. Thanks Logitech!

Cons: Warranty is the most limited within the market 'Two Years"

Overall Review: Before I purchased these speakers I read several reviews, here on the egg and on the internet. I soon realized the comparisons were not comparing computer speakers but home entertainment systems. That is a extremely unfair comparison. These speakers are geared for the PC gaming community not the home theater crowd. Although I believe they would make a fine entry level Home Theater system. Keep in mind price when comparing these speakers at $330.00 you can't go wrong. The only mistake I made was not purchasing them through NewEgg but I had a gift card that needed to be used. Sorry Egg.

5 out of 5 eggs"Audiophiles" take note

Pros: Lots of clean power

Cons: none

Overall Review: Well, fellow "audiophiles", I now know what all the fuss is about! Rest assured dear listeners, if you feel that spending close to $400 on a graphics card is justified, then spending close to $400 on these speakers is also justified. I'm not a "gamer" in the least, but I do listen to just about all types of music. With my first system built using the onboard audio, and the Z906's hooked up, I soon threw my most demanding tracks at it: Telark's Bach-The Great Organ at Methuen. Mind you, this CD comes with a warning label which states that "playing at excessive levels may damage equipment"....ok....whatever. With windows rattling and a few broken knick-knacks vibrated off the shelves later, I was satisfied (justified?) in spending almost $400 on these things. If you can spend that much on a graphics card, which i can't justify, go the extra mile and spend that much on these, which I very much can justify.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally, a surround sound system built for a PC

Pros: -Built for PC enthusiasts. Came with a 6 channel analog cable designed to be plugged straight into your PC's sound card, no adapters needed
-Lots of inputs. Has two extra opticals and a coaxial for digital inputs, or an RCA and 3.5mm TRS Auxiliary stereo inputs to run even more devices without plugging and unplugging
-Cables for satellite speakers are long enough to run even in a full sized living room w/remote control
-Can individually tweak the levels of the front, rear, and subwoofer speakers
-Even if surround sound isn't supported, you can still run in 3D, 4.1, 2.1, or stereo modes
-Has lug nuts to mount satellite speakers to a wall (sold separately, I didn't need these for purchase)

Cons: -None, Logitech thought of everything and provides a solution to whatever your need may be

Overall Review: I've seen quite a few surround sound systems marked for cheaper, but this was the only one that was THX certified and didn't require external adapters for a PC configuration. Has totally transformed the way I play video games; I didn't even realize how many games support 5.1 surround until I got this. Even if you don't plan on hooking it up to a PC, it's worth every penny

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sounding speaker system

Pros: This speaker system sounds so much better than my other speakers. I was starting to have issues with the other system and when I heard how good these sounded, I ordered them and have not been disappointed in my purchase at all. Buy them!

Cons: After I setup the system and followed the instructions for testing to make sure all were working properly, I did not hear anything. After 3 try's checked all the connections and all was good. Here's the problem, the instructions say to set the volume level to the 9 o'clock position. If you do, it's too low and you wont hear anything, at least I did not. When I turned it up to the 12 o'clock position, I heard it going through each speaker like it should.

Logitech should make a change to or an addendum to turn up the volume higher in the instructions.

Overall Review: Once I got past the sound test issue, these speakers sound amazing. If you turn them up, they will hurt your ears, but still clear sound. Be forewarned to those with sensitive hearing.

5 out of 5 eggsWHAT AN UPGRADE!

Pros: I have used cheap speakers for my entire life, and when I bought my last speakers (Bose Soundtouch 10w) I thought I was living in the lap of luxury. Well I plugged this thing in and was immediately mind blown. A bit of setup but figured it out quick, was my first time dealing with anything other than bluetooth or USB connection other than headphones. I'm hearing things in my favorite songs that I've never heard before. (I'm never been an audiophile so there could be better options out there for the money, but this fit my needs perfectly. I'm in love.

Cons: If you're not used to anything other than bluetooth or USB connection, it might be a little intimidating at first to insert the wires. This isn't really a "con," just something to keep in mind if you're considering purchasing. It is easy though! Don't worry too much about it.

Overall Review: I would buy this setup 100 times over again. 10/10 for my needs. A new era of music listening is upon me.

Pros: I bought these on sale, and the day after they were shipped, Newegg dropped the price another $40! So I emailed them, and Newegg credited my account because I hadnt actually received shipment yet! THANKS NEWEGG! Anyway, I saw all these people downing these speakers. ..but there were also people who LOVE them, so I decided to go for it.. Glad I did. They're not EV's people! -And having some trained ears (I've owned Altec Model 19's in the past) I can say these give a LOT of bang for the $$.. -It took awhile to figure out what I was doing wrong in configuring my OS and etc.. The higher voice ranges were terrible, but it was MY mistake. -NOT Logiteck. These things can turn stereo sound and make it fill a room better than A LOT of more expensive speakers...

Cons: Too much control in software. OS's and fancy mixing software can be confusing to the entry level / noobie... I still haven't been able to get the whole 5.1 thing working perfect in Windows (Asus ROG Mobo w/ built in Realtek sound.. -I won't buy CL either, they USED to be good..) After I got sick of installing the drivers over and over, and the Mobo maker spinning you around in circles pointing fingers, -and the OS... I resigned myself as satisfied with what this thing does with enhancing the analog 2.0! But I'll tell you Kubuntu and XBMC got it figured out! -I'm only using this in a bedroom, and it about blows the window out...

Overall Review: I'll probably buy another one of these for my living room now that I was finally able to get a nice TV.. Those things they put in those flat TV's -I don't know what they are ...but they are not speakers...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This speaker system is a great bridging solution between computer and home theater speakers. Specifically, if you have a HTPC but no stereo reciever then these are the speakers for you. It has lots of inputs representing both PC and HT worlds.

Cons: Volume control is in steps instead of continuous but the steps are small enough its not a huge deal
