Pros: Great size, decent sound with the right set of ear buds and it plays lots of video formats nicely. Good value for what it cost, I was happy with the purchase.

Cons: The touch screen really isn't good, and the on screen scroll wheel is garbage. After 3 months the audio jack is broken, sound only comes out of the right side. You can imagine how annoying that is...

Overall Review: Don't think I'll go the cheap route again.

Cons: Touch Screen: As far as touch screens go, it's pretty useless. You have to press fairly hard to get the screen to respond.

FM Transmitter: can't get it to work...at all. Bought this for my wife to use in her car (no aux audio connection). Unit shows it's transmitting, but no radio picks it up (car, home, portable).

Materials feel cheap...doesn't feel well-built.

Overall Review: The lack of FM transmitter makes this unit useless to me.

Cons: * Interface is not intuitive. Does not work well for a large music library.
* Touch screen is functional, but the resolution is lacking in precision.
* The FM transmitter is very poor. The sound quality is bad enough to qualify this feature as useless.
* FM receiver gets poor reception. Far too much static for music, but adequate for listening to talk radio.

Overall Review: My intended use for this device was as a portable player for long trips in my car (old radio, sans blue tooth, audio jack, etc). The integrated FM tranmitter was an appealing feature that ultimately convinced me to buy this model. Unfortunately this feature is just a bullet item on the sales brochure -- no one will ever use this to actually listen to music.

Pros: ++ Nice sound. Paired with a decent set of ear phones, it sounds awesome.
++ Screen is bright and clear. Even though it's not a big screen, you will enjoy watching movies on it.
++ Plays most movie files without conversion.
++ All the features (voice recorder, FM radio, etc.) work fairly well.
++ Nice minimalist design.
++ No software necessary for the computer. Drag-and-drop operation.
++ It is cheaper than most devices with similar features.

Cons: -- The screen is not glass, made from very soft plastic and scratches VERY easily. I am not just saying it. You have to put a screen protector on it before you even touch the device.
-- The "on-screen thumb wheel" which is the only way to go through lists, doesn't work well and it's very frustrating.
-- No additional flash memory option. You're stuck with 8GB.
-- Battery doesn't last long. On a plane trip I listened to music for about an hour and decided to watch a movie on it. I wasn't able to see the whole movie. It cut off because of low battery before I could see the last 10 min. of the movie.
-- Built quality is not very high but if you take well care of it, it should last.

Overall Review: This is a decent device with good sound and movie playing options. But I returned mine after a couple of weeks because of the delicate screen and frustrating on-screen wheel. Archos can probably fix the frustrating wheel issue with a software update but make sure to get a screen protector right away if you're buying this device.
