4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Easy to program. Bought for my 86 year old mom who likes AM talk radio and FM. This radio lets her quickly scan through AM and FM stations sequentially. Very versatile. The weather radio is activated by a simple touch of a button.

Cons: Some stations come in weak requiring a cheesy wire to be plugged into the radio. Fortunately, most stations in my area do not require this wire.

Overall Review: Kinda expensive for a radio

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Quality Pocket Radio

Pros: I have gone through a half dozen similar radios. I live in an area surrounded by mountains which translates into not very good FM reception. This radio comes with a plug-in wire antenna which does the job very well.

Cons: The speaker is OK, but, it needs to be improved. My dilemma was choosing a radio with a bigger speaker - - or - - this with superior reception. i choose reception.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Reception

Pros: No problem getting it working without reading the manual. Reception in my area for AM radio with computers in my home is awful, this unit gets the stations and with minimal rotation reduces staic and noise. FM is weak - until you plug in the included antenna. Didn't try headphones yet, but it works well on the builtin speaker.

Cons: It is just a radio - as big as my cell phone but no camera or keyboard or display.

Overall Review: I got it half price on NewEgg special - still not a cheap radio you get what you pay for - it is a good radio. I got the memory to record my station presets and like how it works.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Pocket AM/FM Radio

Pros: *Small and sturdy
*Good battery life
*Pretty good AM/FM reception for size

Cons: Somewhat pricey for a pocket radio, but worth it in quality.

Overall Review: Weather band is an added bonus. Haven't used yet, but could come in handy this summer while camping.

5 out of 5 eggsSangaen quality

Pros: Excellent build quality and reception, when used with supplied wire or headphones for FM. Can program any mix of up to 19 favorite AM or FM stations, and step through them in your chosen sequence. One touch weather button jumps to local NOAA broadcasts, touch again to return to previous setting. Belt clip seems sturdy for the type, time will tell.

Cons: Earbuds supplied not up to the quality standard of the radio, and a right angle plug is preferable to the straight line plug provided. A bit tricky to program the favorites, but instructions are clear as is the display. Can not leave in NOAA Alert mode indefinitely, as it draws the battery down. Manual warns that clock and favorite settings will be lost if the battery is removed and not replaced within a minute.

Overall Review: Should stand up to a couple years of daily use, and go through several sets of earbuds. Analog thumb-wheel volume control will probably be the first point of failure.

A couple operational notes:
Mode button cycles FM - AM - Favorites.
Auto shut-off in 90 minutes, can override by holding power button for a second when turning on.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellect Radio

Pros: I use this radio almost everyday, working in the yard with it clipped on my belt, or in my pocket while riding my bike.
The AM reception is very good and I can receive several FM stations with out the earphones which act as an external antenna.

I have a older model of this radio without the Weather Band and sound quality is just as good as the older model. There is a DBB Dynamic Bass Boost switch which makes the earbuds sound very good and it also helps on the sound quality of the speaker, but not as much as with the earbuds.

Battery life is very good and I like the clock when the radio is off.

Having a little radio with a speaker makes this radio a pleasure to listen to without always having to use ear buds.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsHandy Radio

Pros: Easy to work with, with a good built in speaker. Loud alert. It is still running on the batteries it came with. Works like it should. First alert ever came while listening to music, with a press of a button was able to switch to the alert and back to music.

Cons: Weather Alert function is timer based. The max you can set the alert timer to is 16 hours which is good if you know there are or going to be storms in the area. needs either the antenna or headphones plugged in to get best signal, which they give you.

Overall Review: This little radio has kept me safe during tornado season. I was out camping with it on. When a few tornadic storms flared up I was one of a few that could keep track of them. Most of the others had cell phones with patchy coverage and couldn't pull up weather radars or get alerts the same alerts. I just wish there was a way to keep the alert function on all the time but knew about the timer function when i bought it.

3 out of 5 eggsNot an improvement

Pros: Good sensitivity, selectivity on AM

Cons: Poorer sound quality than previous similar models. You'll also need to buy yourself a decent set of comfortable/good sounding earbuds.

Overall Review: I have owned several similar models of this radio - the Sangean DT-200V, the DT-200VX, and now this one. They were all very similar but this is definitely not up to par as far as sound quality. My DT-200VX (now discontinued) had beautiful audio. The current DT-400W sounds flat compared to it. Newer is not always better.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat service, great product.

Pros: First, I must mention the superb shipping I received on this item. Ordered before noon on Thursday and received shortly after noon the following day Friday. That's service. I feel very confident the Sangean DT-400W will be everything I expect.
If any different I'll follow up.

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's a radio.

Pros: It's small, pretty easy to use, and does what it's supposed to do.

Cons: It's just expensive for what is just a small, plastic transistor radio. It has a few bells and whistles beyond the drug store variety, but for ten bucks you can get about 85% of the functionality.

Overall Review: Had some great luck with Sangean in the past, a really great stereo portable radio that works like a champ. But this is just too much money for what you get.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Radio!

Pros: I've had this radio for almost 5 years and use it almost daily and all I can say is well made, Weather stations come in pretty good for a low price radio. Reception on AM/FM is good. Even the the two AA batteries last quite a long time. I've dropped it a number of times and it hasn't broken yet.

Cons: No cons, just wish it had a spot for an external antenna. Sometime in the Catskill Mountians I have had some areas with less than perfect reception but for the price very acceptable.

Overall Review: Make a big brother of it for a desk top.

2 out of 5 eggs90 Day Warranty

Pros: Looks like the people who have bought it think it works good.

Cons: The Warranty: After not finding it, I contacted Sangean Support. I was surprised to find out it was only 90 days, especially with its high price. I am suspicious of the quality of any electronic product that can't offer at least a one year warranty.
