Not Trash, But Not Great Either
- Pros: - Full 5.1 surround sound is great for gaming. Direction finding is best of any set I've used.
- Solid bass. So much so that I find myself pulling the "sub" back from the other channels a bit to balance it. This is a pro especially if you enjoy deep bass for gaming. - Equalizer is easy to use and effective. - The included Y jacks for your audio ports are a great addition, and allow my 5.1 speakers to be hooked up simultaneously. - Cons: - Had to RMA. 1st set made loud distorted wind noises when playing part of the audio range. 2nd set does this too, but to a lesser degree. Most reviews don't mention this, however, so maybe I just got 2 unlucky sets. See "other thoughts" for more on this problem.
- Overall audio fidelity. Sound quality is obviously downgraded to bring in multiple speakers at this price level. This won't bother you for gaming, but don't try to listen to music on these if you're sensitive to sound quality. - Constant Static. This isn't a big deal, but this set does give some background static whenever you have it on. It's noticeable, but doesn't typically bother me. - Construction looks a bit flimsy. Neither set of mine was or is broken physically, but parts look as if it's guaranteed to break sooner or later.
- Other Thoughts: - Overall I'm a bit disappointed. This set just doesn't live up to the Turtle Beach "legend" I'd been hearing about from friend for years. Not trash, but by no means great for the price either.
- Concerning the distortion/wind noise problem: I mostly solved this issue by tweaking the equalizer settings. My set has a sweet spot where the equalizer's overall volume and individual channels are turned up to the high end of their range. To compensate, I have my PC volume in windows set low - recommend 25 or less. With all the set's volumes high and the actual sound output at a decent level, the weird distortion noise seems to vanish or at least be minimized. At lower equalizer settings, it becomes quite audible and distracting. - I might have enjoyed a different set more... but this honestly might be the best set for gaming at this price level even given its shortfalls.

Early adopter
- Pros: Features, layout, price
- Cons: Immature BIOS (i think)
Board will not read the SPD info for the ram, have to set manually. Like the other poster, board will not always start up sucessfully from a cold boot. Windows will blue screen and bios will report 'overclocking failed'. I guess the board thinks Im overclocking because i had to set the ram timings manually. ?? Im not super-nerd computer guy, but I am pretty sure all of my hardware is OK.
- Other Thoughts: Some snags are to be expected with a brand new chipset. I just hope asus is aware of these issues and is working to fix them.
I would have no problem recommending this board once the small issues are fixed.

Intel > Realtek
- Pros: Reliable, cheap, and future proof due to using PCI-Express.
I bought this NIC to replace the awful Realtek onboard NICs on my Gigabyte P45-UD3P that absolutely refused to work properly (I've had to reinstall the drivers for them several times). I can already feel the difference, webpages and especially YouTube videos load faster and more consistently. Numerous comparisons have shown that a $30 Intel PCI-E NIC is competitive with expensive "gamer" NICs like the $100 Killer Xeno Pro. - Cons: You get the card, a low-profile bracket, and nothing else. It doesn't come with a driver disc and Windows Vista 64-bit doesn't have them by default. You have to go to Intel's site and download them before you install the card. This isn't a big deal though, since its easy enough to find using Google. Frankly, if you're competent enough to install a discrete NIC, then downloading and double clicking a file shouldn't be a huge issue.
- Other Thoughts: You simply can't go wrong with ditching Realtek onboard garbage and going discrete. This holds for NICs and soundcards.

Quiet with Good Flow
- Pros: Pushes air well and stays quiet. Includes adapter for standard Molex connectors.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: The 9 blade design assures more air flow, while maintaining a general low noise. It is just as quiet as my original case fan and that pushed less air.
After researching fans for a while, I decided to go with one that wasn't too expensive and get one near the middle of the price range. I recommend it. Give this fan a look over in your search.

Smokin' Fast Drives
- Pros: I have two of these in a linux software RAID0. The bare drives keep pace with my 300GB Velociraptor, and the RAID array surpasses it when tested with hdparm. They run pretty cool and very quiet, the warmest never gets beyond 35 degrees C.
- Cons: None that I can see.
- Other Thoughts: Asus M4N82

Great drives - just bought another.
- Pros: I really like these drives. I bought one a year ago when I built myself a new computer, (that I split into two partitions), and have just received a second one today that I have installed purely for storage alongside the first drive as I needed further disk space.
Formatted capacity is 465.76gb, which should be enough to keep me in disk space for a while.
These drives are great value, reliable, fast, quiet and everything a drive should be. - Cons: None at all. Even 3 day delivery was free from Newegg on this item.

NO More GIGABYTE For Me v2
- Pros: Please see my other post for the GA-790FXTA-UD5.
- Cons: I broke my cardinal rule..I bought a v1.0 anything(motherboard, car, toothbrush,) NEVER BUY A FIRST EDITION OF ANYTHING(unless you plan to put it a time capsule and keep it for posterity.
- Other Thoughts: When you buy a version 1 of anything, you should expect problems. When it involves PC's you should be especially careful, since any combo of things can cause you(THE CONSUMER, you know the person who spends YOUR money on these items!!) grief. No MORE for me. There are others that will give me value for my hard earned dollar.

Second Lacie Drive and LOVE it!
- Pros: Form factor is all you could ask for. This is a small external drive. It's glossy black and goes well with the rest of my HTPC set up. I was worried this would be larger than my 1TB Lacie drive but it is exactly the same size. I am using this via e-sata connection and Windows 7 64 found the drive right away. I have had problems with Windows 7 and western digital external drives in the past. I bought this drive because of connectivity. I'm happy that they didn't change the look and it matches my older 1tb drive. Also the blue light on the drive matches all my other components.
- Cons: 2tb drive but windows only reports 1.8 usable.

Headset review
- Pros: The sound quality is pretty nice, real bassy explosions etc and it's all pretty crisp. Definitely can hear footsteps a lot better on MW2. Set up was pretty simple, like others have said, if you are using HDMI, plug the components into your audio slots on the back of your TV. If it doesn't work on the first try, put them in a different slot.
- Cons: The game voices ( reloading, enemy package incoming etc ) seems kind of low. Takes some getting used to overall. All the game noises seem very close by instead of varying distances.
- Other Thoughts: Like I said, it takes some getting used to, hopefully I'll enjoy them more in the weeks to come. I haven't put more than an hour or 2 on them, but they do show some promise.
I'll try to post another review later down the road if it allows me to with a more in depth review.
