Categories > Cell Phones - No Contract > FreedomPop > 100% Free Mobile Phone Service w/ Samsung Galaxy S5 White - FreedomPop (Certified pre-owned)

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Don't waste time and money on Freedompop
Pros: The original, non-Freedompop version is a good phone.
Cons: Here’s some info on FreedomPop they don’t want you to know:

- The devices FreedomPop sells are refurbished, poorly. They are not properly cleaned, containing lint, dust, dirt, etc in the case back, battery compartment, and crevices. They are also not properly tested as batteries sent often don’t work properly, and devices die/malfunction quickly.

-The devices FreedomPop sells have a custom rom installed that blocks the phone’s OS from being updatable, because apparently their app is so poorly programmed it may not work on newer versions of phone operating systems than what they install.

-The custom rom also is not secure, Android Pay and similar apps are blocked from working due to the insecure nature of the custom rom.

-Quite often you will not receive incoming calls on Wi-Fi. FreedomPop likes to try and blame the Wi-Fi system as being improperly set up, or blocking Wi-Fi calls, however it still happens on systems that are; properly set up, and/or set up specifically to allow Wi-Fi calling, and/or set up specifically to allow connections to/from the FreedomPop apps to work best.

-Freedompop uses the Sprint network. Sprint publishes a fraudulent 4G LTE coverage map, where they claim ‘Excellent” and “Best” signal coverage over many areas. If you look at the signal coverage maps on a service called Sensorly, you can see real signal and coverage levels, provided by real users, using real devices, in the real world. Sprint’s claims don’t match up with real world service being provided, but FreedomPop just parrots whatever misinformation Sprint provides, and refuses to question Sprint on anything when there is an issue.

-You will very likely save a lot on 4G LTE data each month due to not having sufficient usable Sprint 4G LTE signal available.

-In an effort to keep criticism and issues quiet about FreedomPop, their forum is so heavily over-moderated that posts and replies often don’t show up for days, if they’re allowed to show up at all.

-In an effort to keep criticism and issues quiet about FreedomPop, they also block users on Facebook from commenting on their posts, but won’t provide any real or valid reason for the block when asked. Customer Support also lies to you about you being blocked on Facebook when questioned.

-You can’t look at what devices and alleged coverage FreedomPop offers without providing an email address, which actually starts you signing up for a FreedomPop account, without your express permission or knowledge.

-The FreedomPop billing system likes to “forget” you have a credit card saved on file for monthly billing, your service will be silently turned off for lack of payment, and you are never notified.

-Technical Support from FreedomPop is a joke, which often takes about a week to reply to contacting them, and their reply often shows they didn’t really read your issue.

-One tier of support consists of FreedomPop “expert” users on the Directly service. These “expert” FreedomPop users race to be the first to copy and paste what little information Directly allows them to provide. This is in an effort to earn minimal amounts of money for offering an answer first, an answer which may or may not actually be helpful, usually not.

-If you can get past that level of support, you are again provided with copied and pasted information-usually directly from the FreedomPop website-which is usually neither helpful or appropriately addresses your issue.

-Supposedly FreedomPop support elevates your issue to a ‘higher tier’ of support when their copied and pasted answers don’t help, but it’s actually just another person on the same tier, if you even get a new person replying to the issue.

-FreedomPop support likes to close support tickets after not solving your issue, or properly addressing it. They also refuse to re-open tickets or look at closed ticket numbers referenced in a new support ticket, requiring you to start from scratch in trying to get an issue addressed.

All of the above are the opinions and feelings of a FreedomPop user, based on treatment and service provided by FreedomPop, and are fully protected as Free Speech under the 1st Amendment.
Other Thoughts: I've been in contact with customer support at Freedompop MANY times, and they are most often not interested in directly addressing the issue or issues I raise.

-Here is a typical encounter with customer service:
User: I have [insert issue] and I’ve already gone through the troubleshooting steps you have online.
FreedomPop: Restart your device.
User: That didn’t help. I have [insert issue] and I need help specific to that issue.
FreedomPop: Update your PRL list.
User: That didn’t help; it was already up to date.
FreedomPop: Update your Profile.
User: That didn’t help; it was already up to date.
FreedomPop: Update the FreedomPop apps.
User: That didn’t help; they’re already up to date.
FreedomPop: Are you sure they’re updated?
User: I have the only version you currently offer in the App store.
FreedomPop: Uninstall and reinstall the FreedomPop apps.
User: That didn’t help; it just erased all my contacts, call history, and text messages.
FreedomPop: Is the OS on your device up to date?
User: I have the OS FreedomPop installed on the device.
FreedomPop: Did you update it?
User: There isn’t a newer version available according to the update screen.
FreedomPop: Do a factory reset.
User: That didn’t help; it just erased everything on my device.
FreedomPop: There must be something wrong with your device, we give up.
User: Well I bought it from you; did you sell me a faulty device?
FreedomPop: It’s out of warranty, buy a new device.
User: Can I get the device fixed?
FreedomPop: It’s out of warranty. Buy a new device; we have deals on our site sometimes.
User: So you want me to buy another device, which may or may not be faulty?
FreedomPop: Thanks for choosing FreedomPop! We value you as a customer.
User: So you just wasted my time by not directly addressing [insert issue] and refuse to help anymore?
FreedomPop: Thanks for choosing FreedomPop! We value you as a customer.
User: Why won’t you help anymore?
FreedomPop: Thanks for choosing FreedomPop! We value you as a customer.
User: Why won’t you give me any real help with my device?
FreedomPop: Thanks for choosing FreedomPop! We value you as a customer.
User: Hello?
FreedomPop: *crickets*
*FreedomPop closes support ticket*
*Days later* FreedomPop: Please fill out this survey about our service that is constructed so we can ignore and not allow negative feedback.

Pros: Phone was in great condition, could not tell it was a refurbished product.
Cons: Had to return it. Despite calling Sprint to confirm the phone was unlocked, I kept having trouble switching to another network.

Categories > Cell Phones - No Contract > ZTE > ZTE Warp Elite Black Boost Mobile Cell Phone

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Been great so far
Pros: 5.5" screen, 2GB ram, 13MP camera, quad core, SD card slot
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: Phone looks great with the gold trim and the thin body. It runs all of my apps great and the 2GB ram let's me multitask as much as want. The camera takes excellent pictures and my battery has been lasting all day with steady use, just watchout for apps that run in the background but that's with any android phone. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this phone again although by the time I would need to the next "BEST" phone may very well be out on the market. For now I am not looking and very happy with my Warp Elite

Categories > Cell Phones - No Contract > FreedomPop > Samsung Galaxy S6 SAM-G920SPBKRB-P01 Black FreedomPop Cell Phone

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Great phone and a great deal
Pros: Has the 2nd best camera after Galaxy S7 I would say.
Slim and light weight.
Perfect to hold and use with one hand.
Very good deal by FreedomPop.
Instant setup if you are going for a new number. Else you need to wait for a few days if you are porting your existing number.
Nothing can beat lifetime free cell phone service.
Cons: Wish the S6 came in black color. This one is bluish.
Rear camera bulge can bother some people.
I have faced some issues receiving call but I guess it's sorted out for now, let's see...
Other Thoughts: The FreedomPop Messaging app can be a problem sometimes. I activated the phone over Wi-Fi and I was able to make and receive calls. However when I was out of Wi-Fi range and the phone switched to LTE, I was not able to receive any calls (I could make calls though). I then did an account sync from the FreedomPop Messenger app and everything was fine again. This makes me somewhat nervous as to what if it happens again and I keep missing calls?

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Good product at a good price.
Pros: I am happy with the tablet so far for the price. It pairs good with my LG cell phone and seems to work fine. I would like to have 16GB instead of 8GB but I knew that when I bought it.
Cons: I applied for the price match as I found it at a couple of places for $10 less but have not heard anything from New Egg yet. If they honor price match it will be a good deal if not I will keep that in mind before I make any more purchases from them. I have been a customer for years and have liked their customer service in the past so we will see.I gave it 4 stars for the price match problem.

Categories > Cell Phones - No Contract > FreedomPop > 100% Free Mobile Phone Service w/ Samsung Galaxy S4 (Certified pre-owned)

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Almost as good as new!
Pros: -Excellent phone, very popular for good reason.
-The (almost) completely free Freedompop plan is plenty enough for my needs.
-Expandable storage.
-Expandable battery.
Cons: -Phone received with battery in very poor condition. Holds about two hours of charge with Wi-Fi on without any apps running.
-Freedompop does not receive or make calls or texts without a data connection.
Other Thoughts: Considering that the phone is in used condition, I expected some wear and tear; impressively, there was no visible damage whatsoever! The original factory protective stickers were still in place for the most part. Unfortunately, the battery is in just terrible condition; you can actually watch the battery indicator tick down. Nonetheless, well worth the price, considering how inexpensive replacement batteries are for this model. Freedompop seems to be the real deal; their unlimited talk/text plans are cheap, and while their data doesn't seem as cheap, I'm never away from WiFi for long, so it's not an issue.

Categories > Cell Phones - No Contract > FreedomPop > 100% Free Mobile Phone Service w/ iPhone 5S Space Gray - FreedomPop (Certified Pre-owned)

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Good Deal
Pros: Purchased one as a Christmas present and one for myself. We are occasional cell phone users so the service plan is great for us and unused data rolls over. I have the basic free plan and the added value pack. My girlfriend uses it for hours a day on Facebook on WiFi. In my area Sprint service is spotty but in other areas in works very good on 3G and 4G. I would check their web site for the coverage map to see if will work for you.
Cons: Sprint service in my area, but that's not the phones fault.
Other Thoughts: Both phones I received look new.

Categories > Cell Phones - No Contract > Apple > Apple iPhone 5 Black LTE 32GB GSM Phone CRC

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Faulty battery
Pros: The phone's appearance was good.
Cons: The battery did not work and this was confirmed by the Apple Store diagnostics. Test your products before you sell them and you would know it was not working.
Other Thoughts: Battery would not hold a charge. When I called to send it back to have it replaced I learned that I could not return the product without the original packaging, which we no longer had. This was a refurbished product that came in a small cardboard box - there was no special packaging.
