Categories > Power Inverters > WAGAN > WAGAN 24015 300W Smart AC 150 USB II Power Inverters

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Be warned
Pros: It has two 120VAC receptacles and a USB connection and the unit is small.
Cons: This unit constantly causes interference with the radio in my car. If I have it plugged in and turned on, it will always make my radio station reception go away. As soon as it is turned off, then the radio stations come back. If this is not a concern for you, then this is a great unit. I just threw mine in the trash because the unit was inexpensive and this issue is unacceptable to me.

Categories > Power Inverters > Tripp Lite > TRIPP LITE PV375 375W Power Inverter

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1
Pros: Decent build quality. Two 120v outlets
Cons: No USB plug. Loudest inverter I've ever seen (fan noise). 40db over ambient noise in a quiet basement (decibal android app 3 ft from device). Completely unsuitable for use in the passenger section of a car.
Other Thoughts: Don't recommend for any application where people will be in the same room. Too much noise pollution. Won't buy this brand again.

Categories > Power Inverters > CyberPower > CyberPower CPS200AI 25A Mobile Power Inverter

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 This little guy is IDEAL!
Pros: Spoke to Cyber power, they confrimed that if the unit is on, and nothing is drawing power or plugged in. The unit shuts itself off and draws no power. Well, there has to be a small maybe a few miliamp draw in order to keep the unit in a ready state when something is plugged in. But for the most part he said that it does have this functinality. I called the local number 952-403-9500 and pressed option 5 and it took all of 30 sec to talk to somone. SUPER! No sharp edges! I was like Whoa! Nice! And blends in your car. This unit does not over perform like some, but delivers what is said on the spec sheet. Not the cheapest, not the best value, but the real GFI is a nice touch.
Cons: Still larger then some. But let me tell you, the ones that have these POST connections on back are the best to have.

You can OVER run this unit at 14.4 and get a little more out of it then the rated 200W, but not much more. (means that it is made well, and won't suck allot of standby current, a good con)

Wish it had like Mounts on it. like an amp. But Found a way to install it on my amp rack. the USB connector was like Super tight when i got it. Now it as settled down. Still withen spec. 120v power receptacle (IE WHY U NO SPELL CHECK) should hold the plug with more force. Can be fixed by opening the unit. (NOOBS STAY AWAY) And PLEASE Even your humble molex in your PC does a better job then a cigar lighter plug. You can MELT IT on most cars so BE CAREFUL! My fav for small plugables are here on new egg that have the wire hard wired to the unit. (like the Hoorber Fright ones) They had a can unit that was great a while back.
Other Thoughts: If there ever was a good use for a 1 Farad cap. This would be it. Does it keep the voltage stable. Hell no! Use it for the same reason why you would use a cap in any other system, Keeps things smoothe---errr. This does make a small bit of noise on the DC side. Oh well. Nothing to write home about. REally, Just about any large value OK quality cap should work ok ON THE POWER SUPPLY DC side

Wire this in for a perment install under the dash, and forget about it. I have not had a battery die yet, But just like any car audio install, you really should have a second battery. I just used a UPS/type 12 Amp hour battery next to this and wired it to the same line as my amps in the back. I was cheap and used solid copper wire for ground, and braided for postive just to keep the instal simple.

Looks great, runs great. Does not make that much noise, Great for small loads like laptops.

Categories > Power Inverters > CyberPower > CyberPower CPS200SI 25A / 200 Watts AC-Mobile DC/AC Power Inverter

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Very Poor design
Pros: Absolutely no pro's
Cons: The cheap plastic connector for the battery terminal does not even fit properly so the item is unusable.
Housing made of cheap plastic that easily breaks
Fuse is soldered to the PCB board. If you blow it you need to de-solder it. How is that practical?
Other Thoughts: There are less expensive inverters made of metal housing and with better connectors to the battery. Don't waste your money on this item.

Categories > Power Inverters > CyberPower > CyberPower CPS200AI 25A Mobile Power Inverter

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 duh ?!
Pros: I give up=)
Cons: This is an addendum to my previous review. After getting little help from Newegg, I contacted the company by phone to ask them to send me the missing battery clamp. They were very nice and agreed to send it free of charge. A week goes by and it comes by mail. So I open the package and what did they send? The wrong part. Another cig. lighter plug that I already have. Now I have two of those and am still missing the battery clamp. I was very specific about the missing part being the battery clamp.
Other Thoughts: Why it's a big deal. First, I didn't get what I paid for. Second, the cig. lighter plug is not rated to output the full 200 watts the unit is capable of. You must connect directly to the car battery for that, or risk blowing the fuse and possibly frying the circuit. That's why the unit is supposed to come with the battery clamp to begin with.

Categories > Power Inverters > Belkin > BELKIN F5C400-300W Power Inverter

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Works well
Pros: Works as expected, is fairly compact and lays flat
Cons: A little noisy, and fuse cover likes to pop off.
Other Thoughts: Inverter worked fine on a 1500 mile road trip. Fan is a little noisy, but it wasn't real noticeable in a speeding car with A/C turned on.

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 It's European 220
Pros: Device looks great and was cheaper than other sites. But then again, most of the 375s I see are US versions with 110 volt output instead of European 220 volt output (This is not US twin phase 220 -- and who would use that from a car anyhow?
Cons: I realized it was 220 5 min after I ordered and tried to cancel but received an email that I could not, that it was already in processing.

Oh, and its European 220, not the US twin phase 220. Why are they even selling it here? $7 shipping toi me, $7 restock, $15 to send it back. I'm down $30 bucks if I send it back. Or I buy a $20 European 220-110 converter - which is probably what I will do.

Categories > Power Inverters > Belkin > BELKIN F5C400-300W Power Inverter

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Doesn't work well with touch screen devices
Pros: Small and decent build quality. Charged my laptop and AA/AAA battery re-charger.
Cons: Fan a bit noisy. Does not work well with touchscreen devices like iPhone/iPad. It charges the device but interferes with the touchscreen making it jumpy and inaccurate when touching. Unplugging the iPhone/iPad from the Belkin power inverter solved the issue. Rather annoying when you are trying to use GPS for road trip but want to keep it fully charged.
