Pros: Worked okay while it lasted. The unit was clean and appeared to be in good condition upon arrival.
Cons: The unit died after three months of light use.
Other Thoughts: Thankfully, I bought the 1-year extended warranty or I would be left with a very expensive paperweight. I'm still going through the return process, but so far the warranty provider (Service Net) has been courteous and helpful.

Good deal for a backwards compatible PS3, but other items may come damaged.
Pros: Works. Plays PlayStation 1, 2 and 3 games as well as DVD and Blu Ray movies. Size of loud fan aside, it's without the doubt the best version of the PS3.
Cons: Accessories were damaged - The controller's analog stick was twisted out of place and R1 button was jammed. Controller charger was also bent.
Other Thoughts: For anyone who knows video games, the original launch PlayStation 3 was an overly ambitious piece of hardware. Sony tried hard to satisfy all fronts of the gamer community - Better hardware with the cell processor, backwards compatibility, along with their new Blu Ray discs that were high off a victory of a format war. All seemed well until the price was announced - "$599 US Dollars" was the last thing any gamer wanted to hear in 2006. From this point on, Sony learned from this giant mistake and eventually cut down on the hardware as well as cutting all features that made the PS3 expensive - this included a more power efficient cell processor and of course cutting out of PS2 backwards compatibility .
Fast forward nearly a decade later... we now have a super small PS3 that does mostly everything this one does... except play PS2 games. It was a long time coming but knowing how Sony has had "PS2 Classics" on the PlayStation Network shows that either fans still have these games or they just wanted them digitally. Either way, I'm old and stubborn and still have all of my PS2 games. This PS3 has a cool internal memory card feature for PS1/2 and a smoothing (anti-aliasing you can say) feature too. Both work really well. The benefit of this PS3 over the later models that play PS2 games is that everything is running off the hardware and not via emulation. This ensures that many if not all PS2 games should run flawlessly.
Now finally onto the bad. Don’t worry it’s not the console itself. It’s just Newegg or according to them, it’s Sony! I get this package with the PS3 and it looks like it wasn't even checked out. I wouldn't be surprised if they literally threw the accessories in the box and taped the package up. The controller as I said in my cons was fairly damaged. Scratches, dents, an out of place left analog stick, and a smashed in R1 button. I do what any customer would do and call Newegg kindly asking for a replacement. While they were kind, they could only do an exchange for the whole package and not just the controller. Which sucks because with these older disc-based consoles, I could very well send it back and then receive a dud. The Newegg rep asks me to call Sony and even had a number on hand (not suspicious at all) since apparently Sony refurbished the console and not them. Huh? Okay. I call Sony and they basically say "no".
Thankfully, I have another PS3 console and a controller on hand. And thanks to the handy rebate, I can probably find another one on the cheap if I really want to. It's just kind of disappointing that they couldn't grab me another controller. Just beware if this only for a child or you are a first-time PS3 owner.
Oh yeah, the controller charger was fine was I bend it back into place. But it's worth mentioning that was messed up too.
If you're trying to do the rebate for this, remove the stickers with the serial number and whatnot on the side. The rep at least did walk me through that.
Have fun and goo

Cons: It had a yellow light of death after owning it for 4 months, just out of warranty.
Other Thoughts: Multiple reviews of this refurb model here have shown that they are not reliable refurb jobs. It is disgraceful that Newegg is allowing these poorly refurbished units to be sold on their site.

Cons: As others have said unit does not look reburished. After less then 5 months and not a ton of use use it died.. YLOD which is where the CPU detachs from the mother board due to bad soder joints. Buyer beware.
Other Thoughts: Every other refurbished product I bought has been professional refurbished. This is suspect.

Pros: system is trash it looks bad and sticky no pros
Cons: system is trash it looks bad and sticky no pros
Other Thoughts: Well people hear my warning, you do not want a Newegg synchrony card, they will troll your credit every 3 months, their credit system flags certain shopping behavior and their system lowers your credit limit within 5 dollars of balanced owed, why they switched, simple GREED, Newegg your sales will go down at some point, because the financing wont be there. I never miss payments think again that your safe from this practice well your not safe because it is how synchrony does business

Pros: This is the first PS3 system that I bought. I wanted one that was backwards compatible so I could play PS1 and PS2 games. This system works fantastic. Runs smoothly and I haven't experienced any glitches yet. Backwards Compatibility works like a dream. Good unit for a good price.
Cons: The controller that came with the PS3 was faulty. It constantly scrolled to the right and made it unusable. Had to buy a new one. Took off an egg for that.
Other Thoughts: - I read the other reviews for this PS3. Many complained that their units came in dirty and scratched. Mine did not. It was very clean on the inside with no signs of dust or other residue, and the case itself only has the smallest amount of scratches.
- Keep this unit in a well-ventilated area! It produces a lot of heat and will overheat if it doesn't have room to breathe. I think a lot of people are neglecting this. I keep mine in an open spot with about a foot of room on each side, and I even put a regular house fan near it to help circulate air around on hotter days. I also give my unit a break after every hour of playing to let it cool off. I have not had any heat problems. I recommend reading the manual (which you’ll have to look up online as this doesn’t come up with one) to figure out the best way to take care of the system and make it last longer.
- The 80 GB PS3 is backwards compatible through software emulation. It is not 100% backwards compatible. From what I read it is more like 90-95% and it can have graphic glitches. The 20 and the 60(which was what I originally wanted to purchase but Newegg was out at the time) GB are backwards compatible through hardware which should make them almost 100% backwards compatible with less glitches. However, my 80 GB works just fine.
