Price was right
- Pros: Works and was really a great deal.
- Cons: Poorly constructed.
I installed the hard drive ok but reassembling the DVR was just about impossible. The screw holes did not line up. The front panel assembly would not allow the cover to fit correctly.

- Pros: It was easy to set up and configure
Quality of the picture is what is expected of the price
Overall, I am pleased with my purchase... - Cons: The cameras are not 360º - only up/down not left/right
Can only view remotely via Internet Explorer.. (arghh!)

Great for the price
- Pros: I got this on sale with a discount code for $199. Value for $ spent cannot be beat!
All hardware working. Setup is pretty easy.
Nite vision is really better than I expected for a low price system.
If you really follow the directions in the manual the network setup is straightforward. Go back and set your IP in the DVR to static after DHCP assigns it so you don't lose it to changes later and your remote access apps work.
With 8 cams and a lot of DVR features all for such a low price this is one of the best values I've grabbed on NewEgg in a long time. - Cons: As others noted, the "color" is a joke. Black looks purple for example.
Actually no color is accurate-period! But I'm not shooting a Hollywood movie with this. Its for surveillance. For that purpose, its clear enough what's going on on screen - which is all I am after.
Not really a con, but you should know that 65Ft cables sound longer than they are. To cover your home and hide cables you will run the along edges using up that length quickly. Plan on buying longer BNC/Pwr cables for your longer runs.
- Other Thoughts: To do any internet,LAN,or mobile app monitoring you MUST setup port forwarding on your network router. If you don't, it won't work. Don't blame Zmodo for this!
Mobile monitoring APP ZViewer drops connection too easy. I recommend KMEyezPro free on Google Marketplace.

An alright system
- Pros: 1. DVR was pretty easy to setup and configure.
2. Price was nice when i caught it on sale - $179.
3. Camera zoom. I have a 12" monitor and it is nice that when motion is detected, the 5 small views zooms to the one with activity. - Cons: 1. The cameras that came with it have a very narrow field of view and IR don't light up much at night.
2. The DVR lags in sending out motion notification emails.
3. Metal mounts on aluminum soffit caused all sorts of problems. Had to buy special rubber connectors to keep the ground distortion out of the video.
- Other Thoughts: Overall, i am satisfied with this system. I have had it up and running for over a month now. I tried to use one of the cameras that came with it on my porch, but it didn't have a wide enough view. Ended up buying a different wide angle camera and love it. One thing that bothers me is that it doesn't email very quickly. I manage a network and have our own mail servers, so i can see when the device tries to email me. It typically takes 3 - 7 minutes to get an email from the DVR when it detects motion. Doesn't help much if somebody is breaking into your house.
One thing i learned setting these up, installing on aluminum soffit caused the picture to be not viewable. I ended up going online and finding information about ground distortion. To solve this, I went to local hardware store and bought rubber washer/nuts that kept the metal base from touching any metal. Cleared the picture right up on the cameras. Interesting i didn't have the problem with the camera i bought separate from the system.
For the price, and being a starter system, i am not disappointed with my purchase. I enjoy being able to watch the monitor from my chair and see when their is activity around the house.

I would not buy from them
- Pros: Easy to set up camera and harddrive.
- Cons: Takes long time to setup network. My DVR just died without any reason or signals. Do not expect any help from them. I tried the RMA process but it returned a fatal error upon submitting the form. I called the tech support but it said the quene is full and asked me to call back at 8:00 am. I will not buy from them anymore.
- Other Thoughts: Just don't buy any of their products unless you want to keep pouring money into them.

- Pros: Unit Performed well out of the box.
All Hookups work well, no problems
with installation. - Cons: This Unit worked exactly 24 months then died.
There is no horizontal hold adjust on the unit
or on the circuit board. Once the unit looses
horizontal hold you can throw it away.
- Other Thoughts: This unit needs horizontal and vertical sync hold
adjust - the circuit board is cheaply made.
