Best tool in your kitchen, ENDLESS possibilites.
- Pros: You'll find this to be a highly rated mixer everywhere. It is absolutely wonderful and has attachments available to do everything you could ever dream. Very powerful, very fast. Capable to do just about everything you usually do manually in the kitchen except blend smoothies, make toast, and wash dishes.
- Cons: No cons on this unit itself. I just wish that some of the attachments used more metal than they do plastic. The nice, all-metal attachments can be a bit pricey. I've spent WAY more on attachments for this unit than I did on the unit itself, but each attachment works splendidly and they are all well worth the cost.
- Other Thoughts: Got this for the female unit for Christmas. She now has every single attachment made for it and uses this thing daily for everything from shredding cheese, slicing veggies, and making purees, to baking cakes and making homemade pasta and homemade ice cream (WOW). I use it to grind meat and make little sausages. The meat grinding attachment is also excellent to toss beans, gluten, and other stuff into to make vegetarian patties out of. ENDLESS possibilities
Never used the stock beater that came with it because I got her the "metro" something or other beater that scrapes the insides of the bowl for $20 or so. It's a must have. Another must have is the Mixer Bible book. You can thank me later :) (You should absolutely plan on buying those two things the same time you buy this mixer, you'll find others that say the same thing in online reviews, they're two very handy tools).
If you've got a lady that likes to bake, this is definitely a fantastic gift, and each little attachment you get her later earns brownie points.

DOA
- Pros: Looks nice.
- Cons: Made insane grinding noise and shot sparks out the side.
Somehow it shorted out against the case and doesn't work at all. First DOA from Newegg and they want $50 to ship it back. Total disappointment, not from Kitchenaid, I can understand that defective parts happen, but from Newegg.
- Other Thoughts: I'll change this review if and when my return arrives. I know Kitchenaid from years of using their products that this doesn't happen very often.

- Pros: beaters were peeling out of the box. even after buying a year ago sunbeam sent me out a new set. thanks. i love this mixer and use it for cookies all the time. it holds up well and came with a bowl.

good bye
- Pros: we liked the powerful motor so i bought a replacement backup mixer when it was on sale.
- Cons: spins a bit too fast on low setting.
we finally wore out the original one and the new mixer beaters have peeling chrome on them. this makes me question all sumbeam products in the future. and of course its too late for a replacement even though it has just came out of the box.

Be prepared to keep this forever
- Pros: I have had this model for 25 years. It runs like the day I bought it. It's the best thing KitchAid makes.
- Cons: Big and heavy but that not really a con for me.
- Other Thoughts: I found some accessories at a flea market for dirt cheap. Accessories are expensive at retail stores.

Great Value
- Pros: 1) Seems to use standard sized beaters, so we lucked out, since this replaced an older unit from a different manufacturer.
2) It is very powerful.
3) So far so good for the past month
4) Happy wife - Cons: 1) Plastic, not a higher end finish (like rosewood or gold)
2) loud (but arent they all?)
- Other Thoughts: Glad we bought it.
