Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Interchangable DB9 connectors
Pros: These connectors help in tight situations in industrial areas. We use them for runs that we have to make quickly. They help in so many applications for PLC to DAQ and customizable pinout
Cons: None

Categories > Modular Adapters > Nippon Labs > Nippon Labs IC-66FF-S coupler

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Works Like it should
Pros: - Does what it's supposed to do
- Supports 6 pin RJ11 connections!
- Easy to Open (if you want)
- Decent Quality
Cons: - Does not make french fries
Other Thoughts: I opened one up to modify so I could use it as a custom cable end. The box snaps together and was very easy to work with. Once you open it, you have about 15mm extra slack on the wire to work with (as in, both halves of the coupler can be pulled 15mm away from each other), so if you're splicing something in in-line with the coupler, you're going to have a bad time. I just removed one of the plugs entirely which gave me plenty of slack to work with and solder on.

Categories > Modular Adapters > Tripp Lite > Tripp Lite P450-000 2Pkg Null Modem Adapter Cable Kit

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Works fine
Pros: They work correctly. I didn't have to assemble them.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: These work fine with a standard patch cable (TIA-568-B or TIA-568-A). The two units are not wired the same so I would recommend labeling them (I used a sharpie to duplicate the wiring schematics right on the housings). That way when you disconnect them and throw them in a box later you will know which is which...

Categories > Modular Adapters > Cables To Go > C2G 02947 RJ45 to DB9 Male Modular Adapter - Black

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Caution
Pros: Seems like a well made adapter.
Cons: I had this for about 20mins. WARNING this has to be put together. You get no instructions and if you pin it wrong its ruined. I pinned it wrong because I mistook the 9 pin for a 6. I just waisted around 8 bucks.
Other Thoughts: You should get some sort of diagram on the pin outs.

Categories > Modular Adapters > Cables To Go > C2G 06691 Modular Adapter

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Odd but Very Very Useful
Pros: I can attest to the fact that putting RS232 Comm on a Cat 5e cable is the way to go. Much easy to work with and Cables are easy to make.

As many of you who would buy this would know you typically have to customize plugs for various RS232 configurations. I bought these so I could set up XON-XOFF which required shunting some of the pins (DB9 #1-4-6, 7-8). I stripped and twisted the tiny wires then put on electrical tape, then inserted them. Works good, and fits, taps would be too big to use. I used DB9 2,3,5 dead ended the others (that connect to the RJ45 pins) and put electrical tape on them to stop them from possible contact (very little tape). Also, I decided to make them a pair, so had to NULL (cross) 2,3 on one of the connectors.
This is awesome, just clip these on and connect a standard Lan Cable and they work good and provide a clean signal. I am really happy to get this done so neatly.
Cons: It says 10 pin RJ45 and it is 10 pin! Perhaps I am ignorant but I only have 8 pin RJ45s. No fret, they work just their pin 1 and 10 do not have contact with a standard 8 pin RJ45.
The screw things are really cheap.
No drawing to tell me what color goes to what pin on the RJ45 so had to ohm them out.
Would also be nice to include info on what the recommended connections should be from DB to RJ.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking at this for the same reasons I did here is some helpful info.
I went to this site and got a recommended connection for DB to RJ serial. Scroll down the page a bit to find it. Big answer for me is yes, run TXD and RXD on a pair.
http://www.pccables.com/tech/sun_serial_null.html
Pin out for RJ45 was as follows for the one I got.
RJ45-wire color --- Standard 8 wire LAN cable (568A) wire color.
1-purple-not connected
2-blue-orange stripe
3-orange-orange
4-black-green stripe
5-red-blue
6-green-blue strip
7-yellow-green
8-brown-brown stripe
9-gray-brown
10-white-not connected

Hope this helps
