Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 L300's are a great tool
Pros: Works in most environments, does what it says. can watch HD video and use flash. 2 USB 2.0 ports next to a USB port for the mouse and keyboard. I use this at work every day we have over 50 work stations on just one server. we had a quote from citrix for our VDI Deployment that landed us with a $1,700 price tag per seat. our price tag with the Vspace server, L300, software support, The extra management center, keyboards, mice, 19" monitors, server, and server licenses, came to about $350 a seat. HUGE savings compared to a Citrix Deployment. management tool allows me to manage my Subnets and L300 settings from my lap top because its web browser based which makes things much easier.
uses less energy then our pcs we tested it at 4.9 watts
Cons: even though they say its coming soon there is no dual monitor support yet.
would like more USB ports.
with Thin clients you lose some supported devices that you would have with a PC.
with only 5 watts of power usage for a deviec (also a pro with energy savings) can only charge small devices like iphones. in order to use USB powered devices that require more power then 5watts you need to buy an extra usb power hub which means an extra wire and plug is used.
Other Thoughts: this is a great solution to virtualize desktops not a great solution if you want to play video games or video edit

Categories > Thin Client Systems > EVGA > EVGA Thin Client Server System TERA1100 PCoIP Processor 128MB XDR RAM No Hard Drive 124-IP-PD03-KR

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Amazing
Pros: Best zero client device I have used, and so much better than thin clients. For most users these work perfect even on a 100MB connection, for users doing graphics work we had to move them to a 1GB connection.

The Teradeci management console is free and makes deploying these "plug and play". Within 5 minutes of of plugging one in and connecting the network cable, it has upgraded its firmware, configured itself with my predefined settings, and is ready for the user to log in and get to work, all while I sipped coffee.
Cons: Audio. These clients run on Tera v1 chips, which will quickly sacrifice audio quality for video quality if there is anything moving on the screen. The newer Tera V2 does a better job. This is not really a con in my environment, but is something to consider if you use soft-phones or require decent quality audio for your end users.
Other Thoughts: In use with VMWare View 5.0. All users have dual 20" monitors running at 1600*900.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Great desktop replacement
Pros: We have about 50 of these boxes that i manage at work and they are great. It works as it says with:
-great picture quality/ resolutions
-Very fast
-centralized software to manage them
-Supports and plays fullscreen video fairly smoothly also
Cons: -USB support is limited like stated.
Other Thoughts: I read reviews on the other L-series and read about the performance issues but haven't experienced them with the L-300's. But if you do plan on having alot of users i would recommend a powerful system. We have 2 desktops running 16gb of memory alongside a quad core i5 at 3.2ghz

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 very low RAM
Pros: low power fast CPU and small.
Cons: Only 128 MB of RAM? That will slow it down. Why put a fast CPU in it. The RAM is the bottleneck.
Other Thoughts: If this had 1GB of RAM I think it would be super good.

Categories > Thin Client Systems > Wyse Technology > Wyse Thin Client Server System AMD Geode GX 366 MHz 128MB Wyse Thin OS 902110-06L (S10)

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Simple & Reliable
Pros: Easy to setup if you are already running a terminal server. No moving parts. Rugged. I have several of these and they live in a harsh, dusty, shop environment. Very reliable. Came with mouse and keyboard.
Cons: Came with PS2 mouse. Unit only has USB ports.
Other Thoughts: Unit only has USB ports. Not really a problem....except the unit ships with a PS2 mouse. I had to buy another mouse. I took away an egg for lack of attention by WYSE. At first I was irritated. Now its just funny.

Categories > Thin Client Systems > Wyse Technology > Wyse Thin Client Server System VIA 1GHz 128MB Flash / 512MB RAM Wyse Thin OS C10LE (902175-01L)

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Quick & Easy
Pros: I've used Wyse terminals for several years now. I'm using them to RDP a windows server. Flawless. This a slightly newer model. Better processor & more memory. I was previously using the S10's. Quick easy setup. Comes with mouse & keyboard.
Cons: It's not free
Other Thoughts: DVI jack is not the "common" DVI format. DVI->VGA adapter was included, so I hooked it up VGA.

As an after thought, I tried hooking up my digital camera to the USB port to unload the pictures.....just to see if this would work. It did not. I wasn't really expecting it to work, but thought that might help someone else.

Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2 This model does NOT have MultiPoint
Pros: The server hardware is quite solid and comes in a small form factor.
Cons: THIS MODEL HAS FREEDOS INSTALLED.

Here are the model numbers with MultiPoint.
Multipoint Standard: QS141
Multipoint Premium: QS143
Multipoint Academic: QS145
Other Thoughts: Newegg customer service came through for me, but only get this if you either want FreeDOS installed.

Categories > Thin Client Systems > NComputing. Inc. > NComputing L130 Virtual Thin Client System for Windows and Linux VDI Solution

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Work OK but not latest model
Pros: PC performance to match your fastest PC you own, at a fraction of the cost. Great for casual web surfing, or working with word processing/spreadsheet apps. Perfect for guest rooms or kids rooms.
Cons: Extremely fussy to set up. Server software obliterates normal XP login and replaces with different login on server. No USB ports on L130 unit (the other reviewer obviously was reviewing the L230 or L300 as he was mentioning USB ports). Resolution-- it says it supports larger than 800x600, and other resolutions are listed... but NONE work on my LCD which does support higher resolution. For home use, netflix and other streaming services do NOT allow you to access through any thin clients (as thin clients utilize RDC - remote terminal connection - to access the main server PC).... this is a huge bummer, as there ARE limitations to these things and you CANNOT do everything on them that you can do on your PC!!!!!! Better off purchasing a netbook-- they are pretty much the same price range as the L300 anyway...

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 OS Restrictions
Pros: Nice small unit.
Cons: Does not work with Windows "Home" operating systems. Received this from ncomputing tech support: "We do not support any Home operating systems due to licensing and technical restrictions in the Home operating systems. You will have to upgrade to a Professional or higher operating system edition."
Other Thoughts: Will need to upgrade OS before I can use this product.
