Categories > Desktop Memory > Team Group > Team Elite 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TED38G1600HC1101

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 no issues in 10 months of use
Pros: cheap, reliable
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: dropped this in a gaming rig. was on a budget and had already sprung for a 4690k and Asus z97 board. Was meant to be temporary but i've had no issues playing any games or running any programs. I havent came across any reason to replace it yet, and actually just checked back to buy another stick to see that they were out of stock.

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Stated timings for Intel XMP systems only
Pros: Great price, great timings, dem GB's
Cons: This RAM will default to 11-11-11-28 unless your system supports Intel's XMP (i.e. if you run an AMD system). You can change it in the BIOS, but that's a bit of a headache so I took of an egg. Literally the only thing I can complain about this ram.
Other Thoughts: If you want to change your timings, read "Understanding RAM Timings" at hardwaresecrets.com -- it will explain the most important aspects (but there are like 30 other things you can mess up/around with). Oh, and if you do decide to play with timings I recommend you learn how to reset your CMOS first :)

Pros: Fast kit, reasonable price, easy to setup with intel XMP.
Cons: The packaging is stupid and it comes with fans that will be useless to most because they are unneeded for keeping the kit cool.
Other Thoughts: great memory kit for rampage iv black edition

Timings were automatically set to 9-9-9-24 for me (might have to change them to advertised timings if i start getting BSOD)
Great ram company, been using them for a 3 years in every build I've made
Cons: None that I can think of

Categories > Desktop Memory > Corsair > CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4-24000) Desktop Memory Model CMK16GX4M2B3000C15R

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 XMP Crashes, Can't Even Run at Stock
Pros: Low profile.
Cons: Installed into a new Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7 with a Core i7 6700K.

At stock voltage and speed, WIndows crashes. Keeping stock speeds and timings, but bumping the voltage up to 1.3, it's seemingly stable.
Other Thoughts: Thinking that ram should at minimum be stable at stock spec. Chance this could be a motherboard firmware issue, but I've updated to the latest bios and still having random freezes and memory errors while at stock.

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Crashes at Stock Speed/Voltage
Pros: Low profile for clearance under huge CPU heatsinks like the Noctua D15.
Cons: I can't get this ram stable at stock speeds and voltage. Simply plugging in the ram, it should run at stock. But it will randomly freeze in Windows (and even during Windows install).
Other Thoughts: I left speed at stock, and bumped the voltage to 1.3, and it seems to have stabilized. But I'm thinking that this ram should at the very least run at stock speed/voltage.

Activating the XMP profile on the Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7 causes freezes during Windows load. Leaving it at stock speed and 1.2v, it will randomly freeze. Guessing I either have bad ram or it just needs more juice.
