NVIDIA® Quadro® K600 VCQK600-PB 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Workstation Video Card

Good GNU/Linux Support
- Pros: Works great with the Nvidia proprietary driver in:
-OpenSUSE 12.3 -Mint 14 -Arch
It also mostly works with the Nouveau driver, but doesn't fair well suspend and resume (funky patterns on resume), and is a bit more choppy in 3D applications.
Fits great in a 2U case.
Works with all of the Electrical Engineering CAD applications I use (which are all 2D), and works great with Blender and Gimp.
Can drive 2560x1440 without a hiccup. - Cons: None yet.

NVIDIA Tesla C2075 6GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCIe 2.0 x16 1.03 Tflops Workstation Video Card

Sufficient for Parallel Computing
- Pros: Pulls almost 2 Terraflops in our configuration. Has more memory than anyone needs.
This thing has cut our parallel computing times from 24-30 hours per model down to only 3-5 hours per model (vs CPU only parallel computing). - Cons: Runs HOT (over 90C in our case) with no way to control fan speed. Text-only control interface. Cost is high considering NVIDIA's got a better version out for only a few hundred dollars more. Only single-precision.
- Other Thoughts: This is a server/workstation parallel-computing card. If any of you yahoos are thinking about buying this for gaming/enthusiast purposes, look elsewhere. You don't really want to plug a monitor into this, as that will cut the parallel computing capabilities down to only 5-10% of what it's really capable of.

LOUD FAN
- Pros: I haven't had the card long enough to list the pros.
- Cons: LOUD fan! VERY LOUD fan.
- Other Thoughts: This is my first professional graphics card and I cannot believe the fan noise for such an expensive item. It is definitely from the card. Its quiet when my system boots up and gets louder as the workload increases. I have a quiet system that I built myself and the buzzing from this fan drives me nuts.

NVIDIA® Quadro® K600 VCQK600-PB 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Workstation Video Card

Upgrade from Radeon 6950
- Pros: I do mostly 3D Modeling in AutoCAD 2010 for a Replicator 2 and can say from experience the K600 has greatly improved my productivity! I’ve had zero system hangs, and haven’t seen a single artifact (such as image tearing when two solids intersect). AutoCAD is more stable & seems more responsive. I noticed my 6950 has an unusually high GPU load compared to the K600 when 3d modeling, a testament to its drivers not being optimized for CAD.
- Cons: I was very skeptical because the Quadro benchmarks at less than half my Radeon..
Don’t expect the moon on this card. I was able to slow it down with some massive/ complex models, but it was still very usable.
- Other Thoughts: I sincerely think the K600 can handle most 3D models intended for 3D printing, and is certainly an upgrade from any gaming card.
My system specs: - I7 860 (mild over clock) - ASUS P7P55D Pro - 8GB DDR3 1600 - Quadro K600 1GB - Intel 520 Series SSD - Windows 7 x64 - AutoCAD 2010

AMD 100 - 505633 FirePro W8000 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CARD!
- Pros: Supports 4-6 monitors.
- Cons: 1. There is no user manual. 2. No CD's with drivers are included in the delivery. 3. Very difficult finding a monitor that will work with this card in 3D. After searching for many hours and calling numerous vendors, I found two that would "probably" work with the FirePro W8000, no guarantees. You have to buy the monitor and hope it works! No refunds if it does not. The monitors listed on AMD's website as being supported are older models and in most cases discontinued. Good luck finding a monitor that will work with this card. 4. Claims to support 3D viewing, but it does not support stereo on CRT's or any flat panel monitors running up to 120 Hz which are directly supported by the NVIDIA chipset. This is a huge negative for those in a gaming or high end CAD environment needing to implement 3D.
- Other Thoughts: If you plan to use this card for stereo 3D viewing, consider another model. The NVIDIA chipset is by far a better choice for 3D. I went and bought an ASUS high end VGA card with the NVIDIA chipset. It supports ALL of my monitors in 3D, old and new and was much, much easier to install and configure than the FirePro W8000.

PNY VCQ600-PB Quadro 600 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Workstation Video Card

Good entry level card for intended uses
- Pros: This card performs very well for its price point in applications it was designed for. AutoCad blazes through 2-D and 3-D performance is reasonably good for standard work. Rendering performance is nowhere near that of a Quadro 5000, however this card costs a tenth the price.
Rotations and rendering in SolidWorks are also good, with the PNY card outperforming a (twice the price) GTX660Ti by a comfortable margin. The 660Ti produced very visible stuttering and tearing artifacts, while the PNY VCQ600 gave smooth output.
During normal operation this card is nearly silent. When pushed during rendering, it is audible, but not annoyingly loud. - Cons: There are a number of reviews complaining about poor performance in desktop applications. This is a workstation card plain and simple, not a desktop one. The drivers are optimized for pro applications, not for blowing up bad guys or streaming cat videos. Used accordingly, it works well.
This card is at the low end of what you want for AutoCad or SolidWorks. Performance on large, intricate designs is going to be distinctly slower than what you see with higher end cards. You will, however, need to budget at least 5x higher price for significantly improved rendering times.
- Other Thoughts: For basic, not-too-complicated rendering the PNY card is a very good performer. It does not scale well with larger projects, nor is it going to win any awards for desktop application performance. As far as entry level, quiet video cards go, this one leads the pack.
Definitely download the latest optimized drivers from the vendor of the software you are using. These outperform the generic ones from Nvidia.

amd w7000 workstation card
- Pros: *very quiet
*runs incredibly cool *takes everything i throw at it even games on ultra (since this is a workstation card) *cheaper than the w8000 and performs about the same. *4 monitors! - Cons: price. is still rather expensive.
amd drivers still aren't as great as nvidia
- Other Thoughts: So, first off. Im upgrading from an msi gtx 560 ti 2gb.
i use my pc for gaming and 3d software like zbrush and 3ds max.
i can now get easily 30 million polys in zbrush without even a hint of lag or lost frame rate. same with 3ds max.
gaming is just as fluid as what you get on a gtx 680 or a 7970
works well with unreal development kit and cryengine as well. no visible changes in performance from this card as opposed to a gaming card
pc specs Processor: intel i7 2600k at 3.4 ghz w/ cm 212 evo motherboard: asus p8z68 vpro-gen3 hd: intel 520 ssd 120gb x 2 ram: gskill ripjaws x 4x4gb at 1800 running 3 monitors

PNY VCNVS300X1-PB Quadro NVS 300 512MB DDR3 PCI Express x1 Low Profile Workstation Video Card

Perfect video card for a workstation
- Pros: I'm using 2 of these inside of a workstation and couldn't be happier. They are powering 4 monitors at 1440x900 each. Realtemp says they don't peak more than 60C, which is pretty cool considering they are passively cooled (heat sink, no fan).
They only take up 1 slot each so room in your case should not be an issue.
512MB at 64-bit of memory is plenty for 2D applications and 2 monitors. - Cons: The video output on the card is some odd display type that resembles a DVI port calld DMS-59 (59 pins). Because of this you MUST use the included pigtail adapter that converts DMS-59 to dual VGA. Kinda lame, but oh well.
- Other Thoughts: If your monitor only has HDMI or DVI-D inputs, look elsewhere for a video card. You can convert VGA to DVI-D.
