very noisy, good server box in a closet
- Pros: Very small box with decent hardware for linux. The default linux should be wiped and replaced with fedora or ubuntu or something stable. Other than that, great little server box.
- Cons: Very noisy little power supply fan is on full blast all the time - sounds like a little 1u mini server fan. No problem in a server room or a closet, but not something you want on a desktop.
- Other Thoughts: Shuttle sells a no-fan silent power supply, but it costs about $90. Puts a power supply brick outside the box, but claims no noise. Have no idea if it works for this box, but seems like it would make the noise level drop to a manageable level.

Bob
- Pros: The price is perfect. These make great computers for basic web surfing and office use. I installed Ubuntu without any issues. Very happy with the purchase.
- Cons: The warranty issue other reviewers mentioned. As a reminder be aware you cannot install an internal CD/DVD drive. The bay is blocked with sheet metal. I knew this when I made the purchase. An external CD/DVD is a worth while investment though, since you don't always use your CD/DVD drive and can unplug it when not in use to save some electricity.
- Other Thoughts: I bought two of these for two relatives who use them for web surfing and some light applications. They love'em.

IT Guru II - Warranty Sticker
- Pros: I see one other review based on the "sticker". I have a shuttle XPC and it also came with the warranty sticker. The first thing I wanted to do when I got it was to replace the DVD drive. I was very upset about the warranty sticker and called Shuttle ready to fight and complain that all I wanted to do was upgrade the DVD drive. Shuttle's response was a pleasant. "Sure go right ahead and do that. We will make a note about it in your file..."
- Cons: This little guy only has a 100w psu so I am not quite sure how much upgrading you will be able to do anyway.
- Other Thoughts: I had to mention this even though I don't own a KPC but I am seriously looking into getting one for each of my children so they will leave my computer alone!

Great Linux Box
- Pros: This is a fantastic Linux desktop at a great price. Even before upgrading to 2GB RAM it was performing great. Better yet, all the hardware is well supported and working fully.
- Cons: Oddly, the pre-installed Linux copy didn't have the root password it was supposed to have. I had been planning to at least give Foresight Linux a try, but I installed Fedora 8 on it instead. I suppose I could have booted into single-user mode to fix that too.
- Other Thoughts: Ooooo, shiny. Prettiest PC I've ever owned and the cheapest too!

Beautiful but noisy
- Pros: High quality fit and finish. Small size. Beautiful design. Foresight Linux OS with Gnome desktop is attractive and quite fast with this hardware. Good installed software selection.
- Cons: I am disappointed with the fan noise. This computer is much louder than typical and IMHO too loud for a desktop.
- Other Thoughts: Small is good; small and very quiet would be great.

Great Little PC
- Pros: Size, Price. For the price tag it is a great PC as long as you know what ur buying. It comes with a Linux OS which keeps the price down. Customizable faceplate f.t.w???
- Cons: Only fan is the cpu heatsink fan, but does have the option to add a 92mm case fan on the back which i just ordered after recieveing mine. limited technical information included. had to get a tape measure to see what size the case fan was.
- Other Thoughts: I ordered this pc to use as a file server/test machine for my new appartment. I had 2gb of ram lying around so i put that in and also purchased a 250gb drive just for storage. The machine comes with LINUX, not a bad thing, just a consideration. Also there are NO optical (cd etc..) drives on this machine. But USB cd/floppies work great. No trouble installing XP x64, server 2k3 or linux on the machine with the usb cd.
You can put 2 HDD in the chasis. There are 2 Sata controllers and 1 ide controller.

Great little machine, dumb sticker
- Pros: I set this up as a little home server and it works great. Note that it draws 42 watts in its normal idle state (some of the marketing materials say 33 watts, but that's for a lower spec cpu). The performance is fine for basic surfing. It came with some linux distro which seemed a bit unpolished, so I installed Ubuntu 8.04 and it works great. Since there's no CD drive you need to make a bootable usb key and drop into the bios to boot from it. The interior appears to have space for 2 drives, but there's only one sata cable included.
- Cons: There's a "warranty void if removed" sticker that supposed to keep you from opening up the box. And yet all the marketing materials talk about how the user can upgrade the memory and disk. So which is it guys? This is very annoying, as you unbox this thing you've just bought, and then there's this sticker taking away some rights you thought you had. This is the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars.
- Other Thoughts: No weirdness installing closed-source drivers is required. All the graphics and everything work great just with the base OS ... I believe this is due to Intel's making sure their hardware supports open drivers. Go Intel! We need more manufacturers like that for a reliable and competitive software environment. I'm looking at you ATI and nVidia.

nice and small
- Pros: nice and small, great price, shiney, connects nicely to my 40' Samsung TV
- Cons: For those that dump the O/S that it came with and install Windows XP, beware I was not able to do it with trying 3 different external USB optical drives and several XP CD's. It would just go black after the first Windows install screen when it detects hardware. Found out it could not see the SATA drive. So used the PATA on another drive then cloned it over to SATA just get Windows installed. That was not fun. I also, bought the wireless network PN-20 Shuttle device. It does not install properly on that case. I had to MOD it just to get it on by bending the metal mounts for it on the case just to get it in. It only has th stock CPU fan and the power fan. Has a place for a third back fan. It is much louder the more hotter it gets. So much so I set it to go into Stanby in 30 minutes. The manual is a single large piece of paper. What a joke. The WEB site is nothing what I am use to compared to ASUS motherboards. No place for internal optical drive can be a problem.
- Other Thoughts: With all the cons I do I like it.

slimmer version may be better for you
- Pros: Nice version to those who don't want to build
- Cons: You are basically paying too much for the extra parts. I would build this with a celeron processor but I would not be using the anemic 512mb of ram or the 80gb hard drive.
- Other Thoughts: Go with the cheaper version if you don't mind building yourself.

IT Guru
- Pros: I was thinking about getting this one as it seems compact and equipped, but now I have issues with it ( see below).
- Cons: Beware: Note the waranty sticker on back of comptuer.
After seeing the waranty sticker I am steering clear of this shuttle computer just for what the company is trying to do to their customers. Over priced for what they imply and limit you to on their terms
Shuttle cannot, under US Federal LAW, void your waranty. You as a user have the right to add new compatable equipment in YOUR computer. Any other terms dictate control over the consumer and the end product which becomes the property of the purchaser. Granted if said user messes up or parts are wrong and damage equipment resulting from those additions they are not covered. US Warranty law with reference to Tie-in sales and FTC Trade Act.
- Other Thoughts: *Note
This has nothing to do with NEWEGG they only sell it, it is totally a manufacturer issue and compliance between the US federal Gov, Shuttle and you as purhcaser and enduser
NewEgg rocks brings us variety and new toys rock on ! ... just wish the manufacturers did half as good.
