Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Don't buy this processor - get the E5-2640v4 and save
Pros: 12 cores v 10
Cons: two hundred more
15 more watts
same cpu benchmark (Passmark CPU benchmark for E5-2650v4 is 15500, for E5-2640v4 is 15775

There was no benchmark listed for the E5-v2650v4 on Passmark. Assume for an extra 200, you get something for your money - not so. 2,2ghz x 12 core == 2.4 ghz x 10 cores.

don' t make the same mistake i made.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Rediculously Sweet
Pros: I've yet to purchase a processor I've not liked so I can't think of anything
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Is it normal for for this CPU to run at about 90F idle? I have 2 of these and they are both liquid cooled my radiator mounting options weren't my preferred mounts but no choice. I've got an AMD FX-8350 @ 4GHz, yeah i'm comparing apples to oranges so shoot me, which runs idle between 50-60F.

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Not 2011-3!
Pros: 8-core, 16 threads
Cons: The title makes you think you're getting a 2011-3 (X99 motherboard, DDR4) when in fact it's the earlier model (X79 motherboard, DDR3)

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Performance per dollars
Pros: High performance per dollar spent. Upgraded from an i5 4460 and it's night and days in Cities Skylines. Basically upgraded only to play this game.

Runs cool. 19C with a Noctua NH-U9B. Ended up using the ULNA and it's idle at 25C, 60C under load.
Cons: I need to get rid of my i5 4460
Other Thoughts: If you want i7 performance and will be using a dedicated GPU, definite buy! 1150 socket it still cheap and you can pair it with 32GB of RAM wich is still more than needed for today's games

Categories > Processors - Servers > Intel > Intel Xeon E3-1240 v5 SkyLake 3.5 GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1151 80W BX80662E31240V5 Server Processor

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 LOVE!
Pros: -Fast
-Low TDP
-Great price
Cons: -Not OC-able (if that concerns you)
-NO iGPU (if you don't plan to use a discrete GPU)
Other Thoughts: I bought this processor for a dedicated science machine (BOINC). This CPU performs beautifully and paired with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler it stays very cool (usually under 60C) even under nearly fully load. Benchmark sites compare it to the i7-6700K with very favorable results. This Xeon is slightly slower, but also costs less and has a lower TDP. Dollar for dollar, I believe this is the true winner. For those of you who think Xeons can only be used with ECC RAM, that is incorrect. I am using this with normal DDR4-2133 RAM on a motherboard with Intel C232 chip set.
