Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Works Great As Modem...Be Aware of Limitations!!!
Pros: I get a great signal here in Washington, DC. About 3.5mbps down, 1.2mbps up. If all you need is a modem to get your home network up and running, this is a 5-EGG product. If you have more advanced needs, read below.
Cons: Latency is about 110ms, which is ok but a major step down from cable modem. VoIP conversations have a noticeable lag vs. cable modem, maybe 1/3 second. Some traffic shaping may help there, don't know. My wife claims she has noticed a definite overall slowdown in page loading speeds, but is willing to live with it for the price. See other thoughts for my main gripes.
Other Thoughts: Understand that the config menus are VERY limited. There is a way to get into more advanced screens with some trickery...search Google if you need that. ***BE WARNED: This modem does NAT and it cannot be turned off.*** That means that if you attach a router, you will have to double NAT in your network to make things behind the router work. Also, I could not successfully complete a remote connection to my Slingbox. I tried a million configurations and none of them worked. The port forwarding in this modem is rather janky and static DHCP (in the hidden config menu) plain doesn't work. If you are running servers behind this thing, you'll probably get very frustrated. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Cut the Cord to Cable/DSL
Pros: Fast, cheap, and easy to set up out of the box: Power up, let modem acquire signal, connect home router or PC, register on Xohm site, start surfing. Am getting 4-5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. I stream my home Slingbox to my office and consistently get 1.8-2.0 Mbps transfer rate. That is 2-3 times what I was getting on cable. Nice suite of services, including a secure network drive and PC network backup.
Cons: About 75 ms increase in network latency compared to my cable modem. Only hard-core gamers will notice this, however.
Other Thoughts: After testing this modem for about three weeks, I dropped my cable Internet service. It's a liberating experience!

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Better than DSL/Cable Modems
Pros: I could get 5~6Mbps downlink and 2-3Mbps uplink from where I setup this WiMAX gateway. The speed was fast enough to stream multimedia contents online. It was so easy to activate and there's no contract. I'm very happy with this device which provides a flexible WWAN access. I tried both ZTE adapters and Samsung express cards; however this ZyXEL modem might have a stronger radio to boost the range. The built-in firewall and router were fine for me. With no contract and low subscription fee, this is a great DSL/Cable modem alternative for a high speed Internet access connecting to a "Super Hotspot".
Cons: Unfortunately XOHM had not been ready for Voice over IP service yet so those 2 VoIP ports were not enabled. I wish it could have a built-in Wi-Fi to share the Internet connection with all my PCs and Wi-Fi devices at home. Hopefully, WiMAX can be deployed nationalwide ASAP.
Other Thoughts: Better check with XOHM about the WiMAX coverage in your place before purchasing this modem. The speed varies from location to location, and the bandwidth is shared by the users. For people who travel frequently 3G wireless datacard might be better than WiMAX cards.

Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2 Kind of bad
Pros: It works (sometimes), it makes a nice paperweight.
was a nice attempt at a wimax gateway.
Cons: The connection speed isn't always what is promised.
this is a bad attempt at a wimax gateway. Theres only 2 ethernet ports and they are only 10/100 mbps ports. The speed varies way too much, the fireware is really lacking. Example theres no logs page, no restart button inside the web panel. Theres errors in the fireware where it will show its operational but give you either no ip or a ip of 0.0.0.0 which doesn't let you use it -.- The antennas are highly sensative and easily broken. The cover over the led display pops off easily from a fall. and seems to be something lose inside if you shake it, even from when i first got it and pulled it out the box.
Other Thoughts: my connection has deminished dramatically over 3 month period. went from 1.3-1.6 mbps to 300-800 kbps. Originally would connect for 3 hours before reestablishing a link, now it does it every 2 minutes making anything online ungodly difficult to do. Overall the product isn't worth the money. I ended up taking this one back and just getting a sprint card(not a wimax card but their other connectivity card.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Excellent Product!
Pros: Actually smaller than it looks online! Speed is actually a little faster then the network says it is. Extra ports for future phone lines. Little indicator on front to show you the reception. Sweet looking! Not Comcast or Verizon! No contract (pay monthly cancel anytime)! No bandwidth capping (yet)!
Cons: I know WiMax technology is in its infancy but it seems to me that they could of built a Wifi G or N router right into this thing and made it truly portable. That being said when you do hook up a wireless access point or router to it be sure to keep them physical separated as much as possible because the two signals being too close together do seem to impede and slightly interfere with each other. It doesn't make it drop the signal having them too close it just seems to make each signal weaker and slower.
Other Thoughts: Ok since I'm one of the 1st to review this product I'll fill in some basics on it. As of late October in downtown Baltimore this gets 4mb down and 2mb up according to my speed tests. The reception is great and it has a little reception bar on the front. According to XOHM this product can and will go much faster in the near future. It has two Ethernet (RJ45) ports and two not yet usable phone (RJ11) ports. There's no contract for the service! And the reception goes from Downtown Baltimore all the way out to Baltimore County. Everyone in the area should seriously consider ditching Comcast or Verizon and switching to one of these. Did I mention No Contract!!!
