Less than thrilling
- Pros: *Easy to use
*Good volume and screen brightness - Cons: *Very problematic getting it set up
*Inaccurate maps
*Bad routing
- Other Thoughts: Bought this as a gift for my wife. Spent two hours trying to get it registered/updated using three different computers... was on the verge of packing it up to send back the next day when I got the idea to try one of MY cables... BINGO, there it was. Nuvi came with a defective USB cable. After that, the updating was very easy and quick and I put it in my truck to take it for a test drive over the next few days before giving it to my wife.
During that time, I quickly realized that the maps and routing program are not good. I know my area very well and the Nuvi kept repeatedly trying to send me down dead end roads and/or took me way out of my way. In one case, I entered in the location of a Lowes store that is a straight shot 16 miles down the road from my house (two lane road, 55mph, no lights or stop signs). Regardless of the "shortest route" or "fastest route" settings, the Nuvi kept trying to send me five miles out of the way to get to Interstate 95 and then go south for the 16 miles. Despite my taking the easy road, the Nuvi kept chiming in at every intersection that I passed trying to get me to detour over to the interstate.
In another instance, I decided to let the Nuvi be my guide home. There are a variety of two-lane 55mph roads that I can take to get there. However, the Nuvi took me three miles past my house and then doubled back to it.
All in all, the ease of use will make it a great "beginner" brand GPS and it will get you to where you are trying to go... eventually. If the maps and routing are this bad where I live, I must figure they are not great for the rest of the country either.

poor battery life
- Pros: lifetime map updates
- Cons: poor battery life ...goes dead when not in use and turned off in 3 weeks if not plugged in..Week volume level in my diesel truck BUT a little better than my Magellan if I stick it on the door glass..speaker in the back

Horrible
- Pros: Easy to use menu.
- Cons: Maps are incorrect.
Map updating failed in an attempt to correct the problem.
- Other Thoughts: This unit ( new, not a refurb) failed to accept or recognize my home address/location mapping routes through my back yard across neighbors lawns and into a plat, then diverting through the plat 3/4 mile to reach an intersection 100 yards away from my driveway. Even changing start points and destinations that should have used that short section of street in front of my house, a state route in existence for over 100 years (Ohio St Rt 725 ), the routing still detoured through that plat avoiding my address.
Discussing this with a relative using a different model Garmin, I learned of her missing an airline flight in Newark, NJ being diverted into a bad neighborhood and other times mysteriously being diverted off and on interstates.
Trying to correct the maps with an upgrade failed. A popup said the download was successful but didn't instal and that I should instal from the download. But there was no download!!!!
My sister and I now own a different brand of GPS.
Note: I bought my Garmin 50LM 5" elsewhere, not NewEgg.

Simple to Use
- Pros: Got this for pending trip out west and found it very easy to use even without reading the directions like most of us men do, then read some of the directions for areas that I got stuck. Programmed the entire trip to OKLA COLO WASH MONT then home to ILL in about half hour or less and saved it to unit now the trip will be ready to use in 2 weeks when we leave sure look forward to trip we have used this to test in local areas also used to get to train station in another town that is difficult to remember because they had detours last time we were there. Free lifetime map upgrades is great. Worth the price with updates
- Cons: Wish it had a bigger internal memory but at least it accepts micro SD cards

Below standard
- Pros: Garmin performance.
- Cons: Bad layout, mis-clicks, traffic is dumb, cumbersome searching, buggy, not mod-friendly, sometimes locks up.
- Other Thoughts: I wish it was a more refined product.

Outstanding
- Pros: I have three TOM TOMs two 5" and one 6" The 6" is outstanding. I am going to buy one for my wife. The 5" is great but it does not give you the quick updates you need.
- Cons: TOM TOM web site will only let you two products for updates on their site.
- Other Thoughts: I recommend if you want a great GPS this is one to buy. Also the updates are free. I never give five eggs but this is a great GPS.

Good...But
- Pros: Excellent voice recognition, clear intersection views, big screen, good spoken directions with street names.
- Cons: Bricked within six weeks; no reset, no screen, no USB connectivity, no functionality. Returned for new unit which so far works as intended.
- Other Thoughts: A big step up from earlier Nuvi series, which themselves had high functionality for the price. When it works, it works well.

- Pros: Worked straight out of the box. Set up and update on first try with no problem. I owned a 7" Garmin and this one is more advanced with traffic updates.
