Add-On SoundYou Voyager Portable Audio Speaker for Mobile Devices (Black)

Pretty awful
- Pros: Looks okay. Not terrible for the sale price.
- Cons: Purchased as a bathroom speaker to listen to tunes in the shower, I can barely hear it over the sound of rushing water even at max. No off switch, if the audio jack is plugged in it'll stay on.
I even tried amplification but it ends up distorted. Yup, 2 watts, not enough.

Weird
- Pros: Great Sound - easy to plug in
- Cons: - Can't turn it off without taking out the batteries. Yep - it just sucks the life away until they are dead.
- No volume control on the speakers. Only way to control volume is on the computer
- Other Thoughts: You would think that with a speaker system you would have a way to turn them off, and a way to adjust the volume. Not so with this little guy. I was pretty amazed at the sound quality for the price though.

Pretty decent sound
- Pros: Surprisingly rich and deep sound for a small 1 piece unit. Complete portability is nice (runs on AA batteries) and also works well plugged in via USB.
- Cons: The 3.5mm audio cable included with the unit was defective. The sound was very tinny/shallow unless I held the cord at a certain angle. I had to purchase a separate cable and it works fine now.
- Other Thoughts: I got this for $15 as part of Newegg's "Shell Shocker" daily specials and am very pleased with the product, especially at that price point. It's still a fairly good deal even at full retail price, but I'm not sure I still would've purchased it unless it was such a good price. This is worth a look for those wanting a portable speaker while working within a budget.

Warning knock off brand
- Pros: none. New egg does not allow other names of companies to be listed in reviews. No comparisons can be made unfortunately, so you will have to do your own homework.
- Cons: Warning- This is a cheap know off brand. Buyer beware.

PYLE PMP58U White / Red Professional Piezo Dynamic 50 Watts Megaphone With USB Function

Surprisingly Impressed!
- Pros: --is certainly loud and allows a wide range of volume options to allow for talking over a crowd indoors, to making sure everyone for over half a mile hears you clearly.
--USB function works exactly as advertised! (considering we weren't buying it for this function, it was a bonus that most of us passed off as a gimmick...until it worked, then we used the c**p out of it!)
--the shoulder strap along with the corded microphone piece allow for flexibility in using it. one day I had it strapped to my back for an hour and used the mic as if it were a CB radio.
--wired mic even has the ability to "lock" the talk button in place by sliding it up. "Look ma! no buttons!"
--good battery life. We've had the batteries in it since we bought it, and while we're frugal with keeping it turned off, we've yet to have to replace them.
--even with the batteries, it is lightweight and certainly not overly heavy.
--even comes with little plastic holders for the batteries to help insert them with correct polarity. - Cons: --the USB function instructions are virtually non-existent. it took me a couple hours of playing with the device and audiofiles to figure it out. the included directions are nearly worthless, and there was virtually no information online at the time either. (see "other thoughts" for directions).
--There is a delay between pushing down a talk button (on the mic or the trigger) and actually activating the microphone. This means that your first few words wont broadcast if you press the button and immediately start speaking. you have to press it, wait a second or two, then speak. It threw some users off at first.
--The "siren" function has no volume control. (The USB and mic DO have volume controls).
--holding down a talk button with a USB stick plugged in will engage the USB stick after a few seconds. (This can be avoided by immediately pausing the USB, or simply removing it entirely).
-the USB operates with a different volume that is hard to control. (you must hold down buttons that do other, often undesirable, operations when quickly pressed rather than held down). Otherwise the separate volume controls are a good thing.
--there is a 12V DC port on the device. no such power supply is provided. No real requirements for such a power supply are noted if you'd like to buy one. and most importantly THE FUNCTION OF THIS POWER ADAPTER PORT ARE NEVER EVER NOTED ANYWHERE!! online, in the directions, etc it is simply listed as "12V power supply can be plugged". For what? Charging rechargeable batteries? Operating it next to a wall in the most counterproductive use of a megaphone ever? is there a battery pack I can replace the batteries with that charges through this port (if so, I seriously can't find it anywhere online)? seriously, what does it do?!
- Other Thoughts: This megaphone was a surprise find as my group was looking for one to use with our Humans vs Zombies game. We simply wanted a loud megaphone with some flexibility for good cost. It dos exactly what we wanted and does so well! The USB option was a bonus that we didn't consider at all when buying, we decided on this device for other reasons. When we got the USB option working, we borderline abused it. Even going so far as to create a computerized EAS message for the Zombie Apocalypse.
I would have given it full marks if the directions were simply more useful, but it's just one page of arrows pointing out all the buttons with mediocre descriptions at best. Some slight questioning of design with the USB operation as well. Frankly, it's obvious they tried to not give it too many extra buttons, when that function really SHOULD have extra buttons/wheels, even if it does make the device a bit more daunting/slightly more expensive.
if you would like [useable] instructions on the USB operation, here you go:
1-use a compatible jump drive. Instructions note that it should be no more than 6GB capacity. I never tested higher. I'd recommend a simple drive, not one of those things that has to load software when you plug it into a computer first. 2-I seemed to only ever have luck when the MP3 (and they MUST be MP3) files were the ONLY things on the drive. So wipe it first, then add your files. 3-plug it in the slot and switch to "talk". (takes virtually no load time, unlike your computer which has to recognize the "new device plugged in"). 4-HOLD DOWN a talk button (the trigger or mic button will work. we often played songs through it, so locking the mic button into position was ideal). After a few seconds, the first file it reads will start to play. 5-use the "|< >|" buttons with a QUICK button press to cycle through files. the ">||" button obviously plays and pauses the current file.
NOTE: the USB operates on a separate volume than the wheel on the side of the mic. you must HOLD DOWN the "|< >|" buttons (also marked - +) for at least a second or two before the volume will start to change, then release at the desired volume. (releasing to early will cause the track to change instead, it can be frustrating sometimes).

Decent Sound
- Pros: Decent bass, easy hookup. Can attach either via USB to a backup battery used for portable cell phone, etc. charging or AA batteries when playing from an MP3 player or other device with a line-out jack, which is awesome for on-the-go rocking or just hanging out at home. The unit is very light and a manageable size. Would be nice if it had more of a solid feel, but it's not a big detractor. The shape is visually pleasing.
- Cons: I got this at a significant discount (<$20), and for that price I am satisfied. However, if I had paid the normal price of around $60, I would be disappointed. It is a nice little unit that has decent sound, but I do not feel that it is worth the higher asking price. I will update the review after I've had it for a while to report on longevity, etc. The only mechanical "issue" is that I had to wiggle the audio jack to get sound to come out. That might just have something to do with it being new though. Extremely minor inconvenience.
- Other Thoughts: If the price was a lot lower, I would recommend this to friends. As-is, I do not think it is worth the asking price.

is this a JOKE??
- Pros: none
- Cons: worthless junk!
- Other Thoughts: I ordered this for a Christmas Present, and we opened it today to fine it has NO CIRCUITRY inside, no on off switch coming out of it's designated hole, no usb connector where the hole is, no headphone jack connection where that hole is. The thing is HOLLOW and completely useless. There were no cords included, no instructions, no nothing except a hollow white plastic shell and 8 metal screws to hold the shell together. This is insane. I want my money back.
