Ooma 100-0201-202 Telo Free VoIP Calls

WOW! Works Great! Saves Money!
- Pros: Switched to Ooma when it first came out because Vonage business rates kept going up and up. Obviously, since I switched to Ooma when it first came out, I didn't buy from Newegg because they didn't carry it at the time. If they did I would have, I buy everything from the EGG! Any reviews that say that their support is bad can't be totally accurate. I have called twice. Once to ask a few questions and once with a small problem and both times it was a good experience and they were very helpful.
- Cons: I seriously can't think of one con. I'm really trying but...... I can't even make one up.
- Other Thoughts: If you want to save money, get this. The only thing that might be a problem is your internet company. With AT&T, if I cancel my land line, my internet charge goes up but what I did do was to get the most basic phone line possible. No long distance or anything like that and I never use that phone and it's cheaper to have internet service and one phone line than it is to have just the internet service.

Obihai OBI100 VoIP Telephone Adapter with Google Voice & SIP

Works great so far
- Pros: - works well with Google Voice
- good price and quick shipping from Newegg - is UNLOCKED so it can be used with other VOIP providers - low power consumption (~1 watt) - good quality audio on 1.5Mbit DSL service - Cons: - not completely plug and play, you have to create GV, Obinet accounts online and register. Actually pretty straightforward.
- Other Thoughts: - Not sure why my last review disappeared - my OBI100 was purchased by someone else on Newegg and shipped to me.
- GV has a very large pool of PSTN numbers to choose from, just select a number local to a family member or friend for them to save on their phone bill as well.

Obihai OBI100 VoIP Telephone Adapter with Google Voice & SIP

Works well, so far
- Pros: - Works with Google Voice, which provides incoming call notification/forwarding, voice mail, voice-to-text transcription (wow!) and free domestic outgoing calls.
- Unlike the plug-and-pray competitors IT IS UNLOCKED. You can use it with other providers than GV in case the latter makes undesirable changes. - Cons: - none so far
- not plug and play, you have to create GV and Obitalk accounts online for setup and registration. No credit card required unless you want to use GV for international calls.
- Other Thoughts: - Requires an Internet connection speed minimum of 100kbps. My 1.5MB DSL 'upload' (outbound) speed maxes out at 360kbps - no worries. Test your own service at speedof.me and elsewhere ...
- GV allows you to choose your own PSTN number from a very wide selection of area codes/prefixes; no need to 'port' your existing number. I chose mine to be a local call at a distant family members city. Research phone number prefixes at localcallingguide.com and other sites. - Actually, I am an owner from NewEgg but received it as a gift from a family member.

netTALK DUO VOIP Telephone free USA and Canada Calling

Unit worked well for the 1st year, ad going strong.
- Pros: Bought this device refurbished online, followed the directions in the box and had it setup and running in under a half hour, with a local NJ number. Have Comcast and it works well, we get about 24MBs down 4MBs up. Remember folks its VOIP and if you have a lot going on your internet, it will reduce call quality. BTW, we have a basic ($25) cordless phone.
- Cons: Once in a while, my wife calls home from her cell (VZW) and complains about home phone voice quality, but most other folks including Canada do hear us well.

Heck yeah
- Pros: Says what it does and does what it says.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Aside from the tedious google voice landline number transferring process. This thing will eliminate your need for a landline and the call quality is the same as Comcast.Forget Magicjack or Nettalk.Obihai is the way to go.

Ooma 100-0201-202 Telo Free VoIP Calls

Easy setup and management interface
- Pros: Reliability:
I've owned the Ooma for about a year now, and I haven't had a single issue with it that wasn't related to an ISP outage.
Ease of Setup: Installation was a breeze with one caveat which I will explain in the cons section. Porting my number from my old landline provider took a few days but went through without a problem. I ran through the trial of Ooma Pro which was excellent for dealing with telemarketers, and perhaps I'll end up paying for it.
Ease of Management: The web interface for management is very straight-forward. It's quite the "set it and forget it" type of appliance.
Price: When I bought it, I paid around $180, but considering how much I paid my landline provider I've long since made up for that in savings. - Cons: Susceptibility to interference:
When I initially setup the Ooma, I was getting a lot of static in the calls. I purchased some insulated telephone and ethernet cables, but there was no change. Eventually I used some power-line adapters to connect the Ooma in another room. At my house, I've converted an end-table into a mini wiring cabinet for my router, switch, NAS, etc. I initially setup up the Ooma on top of this cabinet, but apparently it was too sensitive to the interference from my wireless router I'm guessing.

ok, just don't need support
- Pros: low cost, easy to setup.
- Cons: been over 50 minutes on hold. why provide the option to call, if your not going to provide the support?
the hold volume goes up and down. so you have to keep the volume up so you won't miss being answered. awful music, an affront to humanity. oh my bleeding ears! after call was finally answered, answered all questions polity. the agent seemed unfazed when told took almost an hour to reach. suggestions were given and were followed or already done. was then given a customer id# and told would be transferred to tech support. but that was the option selected after going thru the phone trouble-shooting tree! now up to 90 minutes! started with a fully charged cordless phone. the race is on, will the phone die? will finally reach tech support, then have the phone die? it been a unbelievably terrible experience. will now ease your suspense, phone died after an hour 47 minutes. no tech support for me today.

Easy and great land line alternative
- Pros: Works just like a home phone. (except no 911) Sound quality is perfect, You will never know it's a viop
- Cons: Can't think of any
- Other Thoughts: I bought this so I can have long conference calls and to have a phone in the house for my son to use any time. I liked it so much I bought a couple more for friends. I used google voice and it works great.
