Categories > Blu-Ray Players > Sony > Sony BDPS1200: Wired Streaming Blu-ray Disc Player

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 great for netflix...
Pros: upconverts dvd's pretty good. Netflix looks fantastic. audio can go thru separate output other than just hdmi. remote controls tv power and volume. TONS of online content, more than you'll ever get to. price! got this somewhere else for just under 70 bucks (hint: it's a SA jungle).
Cons: certain remote buttons are kinda small and hard to see in dark. dvd's sound cannot be heard when running at 2x speed. it is not a wireless internet connection.
Other Thoughts: really liked my last Panasonic bd player, but it did not do Netflix, so I changed to this one. already had a wire running to the area I needed it, so the fact that this rig is not wireless doesn't bother me. had this thing a little over a month, and I'm a dedicated Netflix streamer now. never had cable, never will.

Categories > Blu-Ray Players > LG Electronics > LG 3D Blu-ray Player BP540

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Excellent unit
Pros: Literally plays anything you load into it. Found my servers with all my shows and plays everything. Could possibly be the best thing I ever bought. I've used a western digital media player for quite some time, this unit has replaced it and handles wifi transfers better than it. Ive yet to play a file that it doesn't interpret. Windows server or lg's server works with the unit and receives streams from the server with no lag. Definitely worth the buy
Cons: so far none

Categories > Blu-Ray Players > Sony > Sony BDPS3100 Blu-Ray With Super Wi-Fi

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 It works
Pros: It works
Reads .mkv files
Cons: Response time (remote control)
Other Thoughts: With the exception of "super wi-fi" this blu-ray player offers everything that it promises.
Works perfectly.

There is a delay in the response time of the remote when opening/closing an app or powering On/Off. This is a minor issue.

Categories > Blu-Ray Players > FUNAI CORPORATION > Funai Wi-fi Smart Blu-ray Player

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Handy, cheap solution - for what it does
Pros: Very compact device. Takes up very little room. Very reasonably priced, assuming it holds up. Does pull in Netflix and Vudu as advertised, over WIFI or ethernet. Picture quality is excellent.
Cons: Only pulls in Netflix and Vudu. If one or both of these pay services go the way of the dinosaur, the WIFI capability will be useless. Would be nice if there was some sort of browser to access other websites.
Also, the response from use of the included remote is slow. Not like you're used to with your TV or other devices. You press a button, see the indicator light on the unit flicker a bit, and then wait a few seconds for what you wanted to do actually happen. Definitely takes getting used to. At first you think that nothing works, but so far everything has worked. You just have to wait a bit. It's sort of like the old VCRs or Disc players, where you have to wait for moving parts to attain their functional speed. But there are no moving parts here, so I can't explain it.

Categories > Blu-Ray Players > Sony > Sony BDP-BX59 Blu-Ray 3D Smart Player with Wi-Fi HDMI Cable

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Not Good for DLNA
Pros: Plays 3d, Blu Ray and DVD discs as expected. Works well with online services such as Netflix.
Cons: The interface is not really up to date or user friendly. My biggest issue with this player was that it could not do DLNA from my NAS! The unit could see all the files but all were "corrupt or not supported". The same NAS stored videos worked on all other DLNA capable devices.
Other Thoughts: If you want it for 3D or Blu Ray Disks, Netflix etc. Or music CD's it is fine. If you want to stream home videos look elsewhere.
