Pros: Use this to pick up local baseball games. So far works great and have had over a year. I received a refurbished one and nothing has gone wrong with it. Picks up signal pretty well too. Battery compartment is nice because I can take it when I go tent camping or plug it in if I have electric.
Cons: none as of now.

Cons: Purchased a new one (not refurbished ) from another store. It is just a piece junk ! That's it. No more needs to be said.
Other Thoughts: Save your money. Building a old timey crystal set would be better than this hunk of junk.

Pros: Looks like it can take the abuse on a worksite
Cons: am tuner appears quite weak..may buy a support antenna for around $35 Even with bass totally turned down, delivers marginal sound quality for talk radio...Sangean Ad.. "feature Dynamic bass compensation for rich bass"....as any good marketing exec would do..Spin a flaw into a feature

Pros: -- The flashlight is REALLY blindingly bright! It has 3 settings: Bright, blinding, and flashing (though only one color -- I have another flashlight that flashes red so that would be more use while on the road. -- AM and FM radio in addition to the weather radio so that you can get more information related to what is going around you than just the weather. -- This will charge your smartphone though it is only rated at 2000 mAh so save that for if you really need it. -- This has a patch cable so you can also play your smartphone through the speaker. -- The Solar power piece is a GREAT THING because the hand crank is not great (especially if you are a lefty. -- Size -- very compact. It is about the size of 2 larger cell phones stacked together so you can store it in your purse, car, or aforementioned emergency kit without taking up too much space.
Cons: -- The aforementioned hand crank is only useful if EVERYTHING ELSE has failed you. If you have no sunlight, your battery packs are all tapped out and all you have left is the ability to turn a crank, this will do in an absolute emergency. -- speaker quality is terrible. There are LOTS of compact speakers out there smaller than this that sound better. But hey, this is supposed to be for news and not high-fidelity music listening so I can see where tradeoffs are made. Plus, I'm sure a better speaker would require more power. -- if it ever not charged up, all memory is lost -- the time, the radio stations, everything so you have to reprogram. -- using it is non-intuitive. Make sure you read the manual BEFORE you read it to make sure you know how to use it in an emergency.
Other Thoughts: While the weather radio aspect is nice -- to me the best features are the flashlight, the ability to charge and play your smartphone through the device because frankly, you are going to find out more about the world from the internet or streaming TV or Radio (particularly true if you are in an area where the radio reception is not great) than through a weather radio... particularly if your emergency is not weather related.
My recommendation would be to have a battery pack that is capable of keeping your cell phone or tablet charged and using this for the flashlight and speaker capability. Also, since this charges off a USB cable, you can use your battery pack to keep this charged as well if you don't have sunlight and/or you are just plain tired of cranking away!
This is a handy device to have in your emergency kit -- but it is definitely not the only thing. Still stock up on battery packs (10000 mAh would be great for prolonged power outages or times when you anticipate being without power for several hours).

Pros: FM performance. RDS performance. Long battery life. No noise with external charger. Variable RF Gain Control instead of fixed switch. External antenna performance excellent. SSB tuning and audio quality exceptional. Very nice and large display. Easy to operate.
Cons: Some loss of sensitivity on SW on the whip antenna; wide AM bandwidth needs to be wider.
Other Thoughts: As good as it gets in a portable. Only 2 negatives, fairly easily fixed. The wide AM bandwidth is specified at 6 KHz, but sounds like 4 KHz. Radiolabs has a Clearmod modification where they replace the wide filter with a 7 KHz filter. Sounds much better. Some loss of sensitivity on the whip for SW, but can be overcome with a long wire or external antenna. If you must use the whip, there is a Balun modification for $2.00 in the Yahoo Group for the 909X which dramatically improves the whip sensitivity on SW.
Otherwise a perfect portable. Stunning FM with an excellent RDS system. The best FM tuner I have ever heard. The audio from the speaker is also 1st class. SSB performance is equally impressive with easy to tune 40 KHz steps and very good audio quality. This portable makes a very good quasi-desktop if you connect the AC adapter and an external antenna. The continuously variable RF gain control is made for this application and the radio excels in SW DX in this circumstance. Also an excellent AM BCB DX machine with the ferrite bar antenna as long as the case. This radio compares favorably with my Panasonic RF-2200 for AM DXing. The display is large, well lit, and can be kept on conrinuously with the AC adapter attached. It is very easy to read and is very good looking. Battery life is exceptional with either alkaline or NiCad.
This radio is much better than the Tecsun PL-880 which it has been compared to. While it does not have a sync detector, the ECCS performs superbly. I cannot recommend this radio highly enough, but I would opt for the Radiolabs Clearmod modification to increase the wide AM bandwidth.

Cons: The ear plugs phones were included are not comfortable and will not stay in place, at least not in my ears. As the antenna for the radio is contained within the ear phones, not sure they can be substituted out.
