ACTON Blink Board - Electric Skateboard - Black with California Bear Graphics
Better than expected
- Pros: Good torque, good top speed, portable, light, big wheels, easy to use
- Cons: The brakes, the remote
- Other Thoughts: The skateboard is better than I expected. But I will start with the Cons. First of all the remote out of the box is bad. Its usable but expect it to get stuck at low throttle occasionally. Luckily this is easily fixed. Simply take the remote apart(1 screw) and you will find that the actual throttle stick is simply sitting on the post that controls everything. What I did was shave a little of the neck off of the black piece yoy actually touch because when pushing forward it it hits and tips it forward off the post it rests on. I then glued it down as well and its smooth as butter now. Regardless this should work out of the box. The second con is the brakes. They are fine anywhere below about 6mph. Above that and even applying only light brakes will likely throw you off even if you brace for it. Now onto the pros. This thing has plenty of torque and power for its size. Especially in pro mode. In my opinion it goes plenty fast. Ive also taken it up hills that are likely 35 degree angles and its handled them fine(note im only about 120 though). Another thing is that the brakes work very well if you want to ride them down a hill. On full braking power they can nearly hold me from moving at all even on very steep grades, though again, I am quite light so your mileage may vary. It does come with a shock plate preinstalled which aids in reducing vibration and the wheels are plenty big in my opinion. One thing to note, the bearings that come preinstalled dont seem all that great. As a comparison i took a 2 bones reds that are about 9 years old and have never been cleaned and swapped them onto one of the wheels. It spun for 3 minutes and 46 seconds whereas the stock bearings spun for slightly less than 20 seconds. How this translates into the real world remains to be seen. But I can only imagine it improves efficiency and top end speed to some extent. Its also worth pointing out that they dont have a removable shield so they cant be cleaned or relubricated meaning eventually they will need to be replaced. Either way bones reds are like $7 on amazon if you want to swap them. As for range, ive yet to drain it to 0 but its been plenty for me and I live in an area thats almost entirely hills. The long term longevity of the board still remains to be seen but so far its beaten all of my expectations. If you are on the fence I would suggest giving it a shot.
