Pros: This label maker is easy to use and effective. I like ,how clear the labels are printed and also included the AC adapter. I would say this is one of the best label maker in the market.
Cons: None.

Categories > Barcode Printer > Zebra > Zebra GC420-200510-000 GC420d Desktop Thermal Printer

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Wish everything in life was this easy.
Pros: Unpacked it, plugged it in, turned it on, installed software and Bingo!
Printing labels like a boss.
Well, OK I did run through the printer wizard and told it 4 x 6 labels, Speed 2, Density 15 but that took less than a minute.
The biggest problem is FleaBay's antiquated print function. Runs in Java of course and it needs to be updated (The print function, not java)
USPS can't print from the site without a little trick.
UPS prints perfect.
Stamps.com prints perfect.
FedEx.. haven't tried it yet.
Cons: I'm trying to find a Con but I can't.
It sits there quietly until I print something then it spits out a perfect label every time. No muss, no fuss.
However, I'm not a power user. Maybe 20 labels per day.
But I've read reviews of people who print hundreds of labels a day and all praise this little gem.
Other Thoughts: If you need a reliable, well built, long lasting label printer it's money well spent. You can't go wrong.

Categories > Barcode Printer > Brother > brother P-touch PT-2430PC Thermal Transfer 10 mm / sec. 180 dpi 1" Wide Label Maker with Auto Cutter - PC Connectable

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Mac compatible too
Pros: This works like all the other Brother Ptouch units I've used-the software is a little quirky, but it works.
Mac Drivers are available from the Japanese site- it’s a little odd, but not difficult to get the drivers (icons and the same model number make it fairly easy-not sure why there isn't a driver installer on the US site- but the Japanese one is in English. Push the switch to E (which the Mac driver installer DOES tell you to do) and then away you go.
Cons: As mentioned- the leader that gets cut before printing any label makes no sense to me. I realize it can't retract, but this seems just wasteful.
Other Thoughts: I use these all the time, and while the TZe tapes aren't the cheapest things around, they come in a wide variety of colors and styles, and being able to use your own fonts allows you to make things look a little more "branded" when you are labeling for others (I label a lot of installed equipment).

Categories > Barcode Printer > Seiko Instruments > Seiko SLP650 SLP650 Direct Thermal 3.94 inches/second 300 dpi Label Printer

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Plug & Play
Pros: Simple install, quick printing, crisp sharp labels and decent software. Can print a large variety of barcodes.
Cons: Looks like Seiko labels are a near-requirement; setting up barcode labels is finicky. Software is good but not great - not intuitive to me, but functions are there.
Other Thoughts: Install was a snap, when I buy a printer I usually go to the website and download the latest drivers/software, and it was simple to do here. Printer is easy to use, though it wasn't particularly intuitive IMHO. It prints a couple dozen kinds of barcodes but getting barcode labels set up is a little tricky until you figure out about inserting objects. Printer is really fast compared to my old SLP from years past. Not much else to say, except that it does what it's supposed to, reliably and with a minimum of fuss.

As to the labels, I'm not sure but because of the way the printer detects label lengths, you might be limited to buying Seiko labels - which aren't available everywhere.

Categories > Barcode Printer > Brother > brother P-touch PT-2030AD Desktop "Simply Professional" Thermal Transfer Label Printer with Adapter

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Flexible label printer
Pros: Prints labels, just as it should. A number of cardriges is available that contain the adhesive strip and the thermal transfer ribbon. Different sizes and colors make this device quite flexible. Also, the label printer allows to flexibly tweak the font (size, width, multiline) and allows to auto-fit the text on a given label size. A well-designed preview function gives a good idea how the final label is going to look like. Battery operation is possible. The generously sized keyboard is easy to operate. Navigation is straightforward, in most of the cases.
Cons: *Labels look OK, but no mre than that. Print quality is about that of a 1990's inkjet printer

* To achieve a uniform look of labels with same size and different amount of text, some tweaking is necessary. It cannot optimize text over two lines

* The package comes with a "starter cartridge" only, and additional cartridges are relatively expensive.

* Each label is preceded by about 1" of waste (for easier cutting). It takes several menu steps to "chain" labels where this waste does not occur. However, with chained labels, manual cutting with scissors is required.
Other Thoughts: I got this printer on sale for a steep discount even over Newegg's regular low price. The cartridge is a solid solution, but if the purchase price of the printer is less than the price of two cartridges, we see the usual scheme where the manufacturers make their money with the supplies.

The printer has no PC connectivity. This is OK for me as the software that comes with some other label printers is usually not helpful.

Categories > Barcode Printer > Brother > Brother P-touch PT-2030VP Label Printer

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 RE: JOSHUA P.
Pros: JOSHUA P. wrote a nice review, but lost me on one point, the tape refills. He stated the longest tape length was only 18 mm (which is about 3/4"). Standard refills are 8 meters long (26.2 feet).
Cons: Refills are about $15 for 26 feet. If you need a variety of colors and widths, that can add up real quick, but how much labeling are you really going to do? 26 feet is ALOT!
Other Thoughts: According to other reviews, this label printer was $12 on a Shellshocker. Current price of $20 is still pretty reasonable; it's the refills that are gonna set you back. I assume that's their game plan on making a profit. Still reasonable IMO.
