Categories > Pressure Cookers > PRESTO > PRESTO 09984 Control Master heat control with Magnetic Cord

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 magnetic cord?
Pros: It works. it replaced a 15 year old cord that died. So yes this is backwards compatible.
Cons: The magnetic cord is just weird. in the middle of cooking i bumped the cord and it disconnected. It is no big deal to snap it back in place but it just seems like a weird design. but I guess it isn't worth sending back.

Categories > Pressure Cookers > TATUNG > TATUNG TPC-5L 5L Pressure Cooker with Inner Pot - Stainless Steel

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Great one
Pros: it was made of good materials, so it is in very good quality. The inner pot is made of stainless steel. it comes without black layer of nonstick material which most of other brand pressure cooker used and usually will tear off in several months in routine use.
Cons: no power switch.

Categories > Pressure Cookers > TATUNG > TATUNG TPC-5L 5L Pressure Cooker with Inner Pot - Stainless Steel

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Most Convenient Cooker Ever
Pros: Fast cooking with various setting to meet different dishes. One can cook meat, stew, soup and even rice. Most dishes can be cooked within an hour. But one should read instructions carefully before using it, since it involves with high pressurized steam.
Cons: Wish the cooking time is longer than an hour.

Categories > Pressure Cookers > West Bend > West Bend 82011 6-Qt. Electric Pressure Cooker

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 good deal
Pros: Components seem heavy-duty and mostly well thought-out.
Cons: Manual has drawing with part "on other side of drawing" and never shown installed. Manual jumps around - initial washing of parts, rather than listing procedure sends you forward into manual. Trivet can, and will tip, because "dimple" or similar not built into pot. The brand West Bend is directly competing against has 3 year warranty vs. West Bend's 1 year. Web site for West Bend is very awkward for getting recipes for pressure cooker.

Categories > Pressure Cookers > TATUNG > TATUNG TPC-5L 5L Pressure Cooker with Inner Pot - Stainless Steel

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 What happened to the reviews?!
Pros: I'm summarizing the deleted reviews:

1. compact & nice looking
2. stainless steel, seems solid with high quality
3. functioning as expected
Cons: I'm summarizing the deleted reviews:

1. some items seem to be used ones (2 reviewer pointed that out, 1 gave 1star, 1 gave 3star).
2. 1 reviewer claimed getting a DOA unit (1star)
3. 1 reviewer complained about the menu and recipe (1star). But the unit was doing OK.
Other Thoughts: I was reading the reading the reviews (there were 8 of them) and the average rating is 3.
Well, suddenly all the reviews got deleted.
I'm about to buy this item from Newegg. But clearly, Newegg is not doing an honest job as a seller.

And this is the reason I put in 3 stars, which is the rating the Newegg deleted here. And I'll buy elsewhere. I can't imagine this is REALLY HAPPENING!!! I used to buy a lot stuffs from Newegg, but I can't trust here any longer.

Categories > Pressure Cookers > Cuisinart > Cuisinart CPC-600 1000-Watt 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker, Brushed Stainless and Matte Black

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Really? outside vender
Pros: Works well, wife loves it.
Cons: Scarey
Other Thoughts: The first one arrived without critical parts, including the steam release valve. One return later ( New-egg C.S was very courteous and cool) the new cooker arrived (three weeks later) with all it's parts, and in working order. The box it was shipped in was the display box. In other words, if it's going to be a gift you want to keep a secret don't expect it to arrive in a plain brown box. It will be the one it sits on the store shelf in. This is not good for another reason, and the source of my main gripe. Who ever the outside vender is, new egg has partnered with to sell kitchen appliances, they are just slapping labels on display box's and dropping them in the mail with out regard to how they are being handled by the delivery service. The display package is not adequate protection, and invites the curiosity of thieves. The first cooker to show up at my doorstep was in such a badly battered box the Styrofoam inside was cracked in several places. I am not surprised parts were missing. I can not stress enough the fact that the outer display box ,things like this come in, is NOT sturdy enough to be shipped in. So in the end, shipping is paid twice by the seller, I get my stuff way late, after Christmas, despite being ordered early. How are they making any money?
No eggs off because the final product is good, but if I was able to rate the shipping experience; 2 stars, and I am being generous because New-egg customer service is one of the best. Love you New-egg.

Categories > Pressure Cookers > TATUNG > TATUNG TPC-5L 5L Pressure Cooker with Inner Pot - Stainless Steel

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Works great, but toss the manual
Pros: Does not vent during cooking (keeps the house free of cooking smells)
Quiet
Small enough to fit in cabinets
Cons: Beeping buttons are loud and cannot be turned off
End-of-cooking cycle beeps for about 10 seconds (Cannot be turned off)
Manual is absolutely useless - the poor English is misleading
Longest cook cycle is 1 hour. If you have something that needs to be cooked for 2 hours, you have to be present at the 60 min mark to restart the process.
Other Thoughts: If it weren't for the beeping and the 1 hour cooking limit, I'd give this a 5-star. So if neither of these bother you, then it's a perfect device.

None of the other reviews for this device address the proper cooking procedures. The manual tries to explain it, but for anyone who's never used a pressure cooker, it's might as well be neuroscience.

The "functions" - which are nothing more than templates for cooking various types of food (i.e. rice, meat, etc), are supposed to take the guess work out of cooking. But, choosing meat for a roast, doesn't take into account how heavy the roast is. You can choose the "Fragrance level" WTH is that? Turns out it's a mild extension to the cooking time. Still, useless.

Instead, for a roast, I've found that anything less than 60 min is not long enough - and ends up in tough/hard meat. So, use the cook time function. Set it to 60 min, then add additional time when the 60 min expire.

Once I figured this out, my pot roast (chuck, eye, rump) comes out perfect.

It appears there is no such thing as cooking it too much - but definitely too little. If it's hard, close it up, and cook another hour.
