Tankless Water Heaters
Ariston GL2.5 Electric Mini-Tank Under-The-Sink Hot Water Heater
Poorly engineered for reliability.
- Pros: It is fantastic to get hot water almost instantly. It is nice looking, It plugs into 110vac outlet.
- Cons: Unless you are a plumber or very handy around plumbing, this may not be for you. To install it requires some plumbing knowledge. Once installed, the book advises you to drain and disassemble it once a year to replace the anode rod and seal. This rod and seal will cost about $25.00 plus shipping. If you don't do it, the tank will rust out and start leaking in about three years. The warranty on the tank is six years, but is void if you tell the tech that you hadn't replaced the anode as suggested in the manual. Beside the expense, replacing the anode rod is a pain to do every year, and if you need to call a plumber to do it it could be very expensive.
- Other Thoughts: If you do decide to install this tank. be sure to cover anything below it, or put a pail below it to catch the water when it goes. It will.
I only gave it two stars because it was so nice to have, before it leaked. I made the mistake of installing two of these.
