TRENDnet TV-IP751WIC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Day / Night Cloud Camera

Half 'n Half
- Pros: It is a well made design and and is built sturdy. Mounting brackets and all the screws needed to mount it on the wall. It is adjustable in any direction and angles possible.
Supports wireless N and is backward compatible to b/g, however streaming videos on b or g networks is very slow. 100M fast Ethernet is also an option if you can run cables to it. Also has microphone which can be turned on or off through the software or the web interface. The main feature of this camera is the free cloud service that comes with it. I believe the higher price for this camera is also because of the cloud service, but, i have mixed feelings for the way cloud service works. See cons.
The picture quality and audio quality is very good. Even though the resolution is only 640x480 the video is very very clear.
The 4 infrared LED's for night vision work very well. I can recognize people about 20-25 ft away from the camera pretty well during night outdoors. Night-vision indoors is even more awesome. Motion detection can be done within the camera or by the software. If you have many cameras and/or the server computer is little bit slow, you can offload the motion detection work to the camera it will reduce the stress on the server. I had to crank the motion sensitivity way up in order to make the motion detection work.
Through the login page of the camera you can not only view the live video feed, you can also set it up to send images to a FTP server or send you emails at regular intervals. You can also add users other than admins who can view the live feed but not control the features of the camera. For the network usage there are lots of features like static IPs, DHCP, PPPoE, Dynamic DNS and port forwarding. There is also an option to disable the cloud link and setup DDNS in order to view the feed away from the home.
I do like the 3 years warranty. - Cons: I don't know where to start. First of all installation was a little skewed. They don't supply the default login with the camera and I had to google for that information (default logon is admin:admin). I think they want us to use WPS, which any tech savvy or near tech savvy person would never use.
The camera doesn't have a default ip, by default it is configured to listen for a DHCP server. I had connect it to the router and logon into it to find out what IP it was using. But after that using that ip to log on to the camera made it much easier to look into the various features of the camera.
Trendnet secureview pro is a good software and has many features like motion detection, selection of areas exclude from motion etc, but navigating through the archives for recorded footage is pain. Secureview doesn't let direct control for the camera like night vision toggle, LED control. You have to logon to the camera from the browser in order to access those features.
While using indoors I ran into problem of the night vision switching on and of quite frequently under low light condition so I had to force it to stay on NV.
The LED's in front of the cameras are attention grabbers, especially when outdoors, but they can be turned off through the camera's page.
The cloud link makes it easy for to view the camera when away from home but it lacks any kind of control to the camera. To use the cloud link you have to install a plugin which is a .msi package that takes out Linux users completely not being able to utilize the feature. Why use a .msi package rather than browser based .xpi plugin installers?
Also secureview is not supported on linux. Zoneminder is not being able to logon to the camera and there are no other viable options to record the camera feed on linux, I am not being able to use my linux based home server as a DVR.
- Other Thoughts: After using this camera for about a couple weeks I have come to conclusion that this camera indeed fits the need for average people but for me there are some quirks. It not only fits the bill, but excels in many ways. It has tonnes of features and tweak options. Video quality is very good but I would have appreciated if it was of higher resolution. Night vision is also excellent, motion capture works but for night use the sensitivity has to be cranked high.
The cloud thing is awesome on one hand but limited on other. Say if I forgot to switch it to automatic mode and kept it on day mode and left my home for a few days, there is no way for me to turn the night vision on from the cloud. I am also an avid supporter of linux and the cloud doesn't even work with linux, not only that the linux support for this camera is almost non existent. This is a major setback for me and possibly many others who already have linux based home servers and want a surveillance system for their home. It is a shame that the camera itself is running on a linux platform but lacks support for linux based end users.

TRENDnet TV-IP751WIC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Day / Night Cloud Camera

TRENDnet TV-IP751WIC
- Pros: This Wi-Fi camera works really good I set it up within 15 minutes, has ok quality video and audio the android app works ok, I can log in and see what's going on at my house anytime. It also can feed to a server to save the video feed. The video stream over internet has a slight delay but only about 2 seconds. Camera supports motion detection IR night vision the night vision switches to black and white.
This camera has manual focus and night vision very surprised how well this item works in low light. Software Is easy to use for advanced users but can be a bit daunting for basic users. - Cons: The mounting bracket adjustment is kind of cheaply made
power cord could also be a little longer. Higher quality
video would be nice.
- Other Thoughts: This is a great start for trend net getting into this market of
Wi-Fi cameras but they need to refine a little bit but is a
great start keep up the good work.

TRENDnet TV-IP751WIC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Day / Night Cloud Camera

camera
- Pros: Not a very good picture at 640 X 480 maximum resolution, but much higher quality picture than I expected. This is not a professional security camera and does not have an HD picture.
Night mode works well, but the range is pretty short and colors wash out as should be expected with any 0 lux camera. Firmware upgrade is easy. The directions say to plug it into an ethernet cable to do the upgrade, but I was in the process of doing the upgrade when I read that and it worked fine. It took a lot longer than it should doing it wireless versus over Ethernet cable, other than that no issues.
LED power and action indicator lights can be turned off, or left on for a nightlight.
Once I got around the installation glitches, I could watch live streaming using the camera wirelessly on my home network with no problem. But for the average user, this product’s software will be very user-unfriendly.
Packaged very well. - Cons: Software installation is red-flagged by Windows.
Trendnet app will not install onto my Android phone, even though it has the required Android version. I get an “incompatible with this phone” error.
The most useful advertised feature of this camera, the remote access, is limited to older computers and I can’t use it on my phone which is the only remote use I wanted. So if you only want to use it in the home as a baby monitor it should work fine. That is, if you want to be able to determine if your baby is still in the crib this camera will show you that. But if you need to determine if your baby is still breathing this camera is not sharp enough for that unless your baby snores really loudly. The metal bracket has very sharp edges. This could really slice a hand open. It is very cheap to de-burr metal parts but that expense was spared on this bracket leaving me with an overall impression of low quality for this product. And this is odd considering how extremely well packaged it is.
- Other Thoughts: Camera makes a distinct clicking noise when switching between day & night mode. If your application requires absolute silence this may be an issue, but in my case it is no problem.
Overall the camera seems like a good unit, but the software leaves a lot to be desired. If Android support is beefed up I would recommend this product. But like it is, I do not recommend.

TRENDnet TV-IP751WIC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Day / Night Cloud Camera

Great indoor camera
- Pros: The best thing about this camera is how easy it is to set up and use. The device comes with everything you need to connect it to your existing network and mount it to a wall or other surface.
The included cloud storage account gives you a place to save the captured video/images. You can also send the captures to any FTP or SMTP (email) server.
The WPS button is a nice touch, because it allows you to connect it your router or access point just by pressing both buttons within 30 seconds.
Motion detection is works well, and you can turn it on or off for specific quadrants of the image.
You can set up users and access control for advanced situations.
There is a CD for novice users and as well as a web interface. The software on the CD could be helpful for some, but it is not required.
The camera uses very little bandwidth and storage.
The IR light source is very bright and should have no trouble illuminating any room. - Cons: You have to spin the lens a lot to focus it.
The IR light from the camera will bounce off of glass or window screens making it less useful if pointed out a window. ( You can disable the IR )
Setting up the cloud link is not obvious if you don't read the manual. You have to create the account and add the camera to your account instead of adding the account to your camera's settings. It would be nice if this could be accomplished from either direction.
The live stream requires activeX controls or java. It would be nice to have html5 support or support for mobile browsers.
- Other Thoughts: The 640x480 doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. You can adjust the amount of jpeg compression as well.
You can still see a still if you are on a browser without java.
Overall this camera is a good experience and it has lots of features for tweaking.

TRENDnet TV-IP851WIC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Day / Night PTZ Cloud Camera

Good IP Camera with Easy Setup
- Pros: Picture clarity is excellent.
Color saturation is near perfect. Night vision is really good up to about 20 feet PTZ - Pan and tilt range is excellent. Wireless N - good wireless range Can be viewed via cloud without Dynamic DNS Easy setup. Connected to router using WPS in 10 seconds. Works with IE and any browser that supports Java Can monitor via Android device Included free multi-camera viewer - SecureviewPro - Cons: SecureViewPro software is somewhat cumbersome
Web Interface appears slow at times
- Other Thoughts: When I unpacked this, the first thing I noticed is this camera looks and feels like a quality product. The package comes with everything you need including installation CD, mounting bracket, cables, and even the hardware to mount the bracket to wall or ceiling
TRENDnet designed an easy setup and a nice web interface. Most IP cameras require some computer skills to setup, but even a novice could have this up and running in less than 5 minutes. If your router supports WPS, simply press WPS button on router, then press and hold the WPS button on the camera for about 5 seconds. The orange LED will light up and you are connected.
All the software and manuals you need are included on the CD. The CD has an autorun menu that allows you to step through and install the features that you want. I ran the setup camera option and it was a breeze to setup. The setup utility even places a shortcut on your desktop with the URL to view the camera through the TRENDnet cloud website.
The picture is clear and with excellent colors. This is a 640 x 480 camera, but the picture quality easily beats both of my megapixel IP cameras. You may have to manually adjust the focus. I adjusted mine using an object about 15 feet away and the picture is clear both up close and at a distance.
The SecureViewPro software would be somewhat difficult if you have never used multi-camera viewer software. It takes a lot of clicks and screens to setup up camera with recording and motion detection. I find this software inferior to the multi-cam viewers that came with my other cameras. I took one egg off for this feature, but in truth, it is decent for free software. Software only works with TRENDnet Pro series cameras. If you are setting up software with multiple cameras it will take some time to get everything working. Once you have it setup correctly, it is fairly easy to use. This software needs a better interface.
TRENDnet has a video on their website showing sample video from this camera. The video is accurate and you actually do get the nice picture quality on both day and night. Visit the product website and click on sample video to get a good idea of what to expect.
If you don't need the multi-camera viewer, this is definitely a 5 egg IP camera. You do not need the multi viewer to monitor the camera. You can monitor, configure, and manage the camera through the web browser and the cloud feature allows you to do this anywhere you have an internet connection. I have been happy with my other IP cameras, but this is the first one I am impressed with.

TRENDnet TV-IP751WC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Cloud Camera

Great Low Cost Camera
- Pros: Very easy install With win 7 64 bit. Great wired service,Resolution & audio great with wired. Software is very easy/functional. For a baby monitor or in house security wireless is great too!
The value is a no brainer. For the money it,s superb! - Cons: I hooked up outside on my front porch. About 50 feet from my router (in a modular home lots of metal) I got great video night & day But the audio was IFFY!. But for what i,m doing with it (Watching the porch it,s great)
- Other Thoughts: For the money and ease of use. The average tech. person can get this up in running in no time for a great price. I have already recommended to a friend
All this was tested with a tp-link N750 (4300) wireless router and a trendnet switch on a gigabit wired network.Mixed wireless.
4 stars for the wireless audio Which i suspect is latency issues over wireless?

TRENDnet TV-IP851WIC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Day / Night PTZ Cloud Camera

Quality IP Cam - Clunky interface
- Pros: This is a very solid offering in the PTZ IP Cam space by Trendnet. I was always curious about setting up a camera in our babies room (1 1/2 yr old) to see what exactly goes on in there all night when she's sleeping. This camera does not disappoint! The image is very sharp for the resolution in both color and infrared modes.
I set the camera about 12 feet away from her crib and even in pitch black ambient light we were able to see her tossing and turning and waking up to "play" during the night. The overall construction feels very solid and the internal motor is quiet enough that we were able to spin it around without waking her up.
When I first plugged it in I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use it because the LED lights are VERY bright, specifically the blue power light. Luckily after digging through the menus I found where you can turn it and the wireless indicator light totally off.
The included software is also very nice (and free, no "trial to premium" demo here).
Another feature I found incredibly useful is the wireless setup. On other IP cams I've used you had to connect it to Ethernet first, then unplug and relocate the camera. Using the WPS button you can setup the camera where you want it located the first time which was very convenient.
Using the free iPhone app you can add (make sure to write down your serial # because you'll need it) a camera in a few seconds and start monitoring remotely. On 3G speeds I got a fair amount of lag and just a few frames per second, but on wifi it was much more responsive and more "real-time".
The cloud link function is fairly handy and rather responsive when performing remote control. I gave the code to a friend who lives across town and during streaming and rotating the camera I saw an average of 150 Kbps from the camera so its very bandwidth friendly.
I also have to disagree with one of the reviews below me. I'm not sure if he was using an android device but you CAN control the pan/tilt/zoom with the iPhone app. - Cons: The LED's are way too bright and need to be diffused on a later revision. I found them incredibly distracting even with the camera placed away from me and during the day. At night they are blinding. Although they can be turned off I still think they need to have an in between setting if possible.
The web interface works, but is clunky and prone to slow loading times. It just looks and feels out dated and is really one of the few low points of the overall package.
The included surveillance server bundled in to control multiple cameras is not user friendly or intuitive. I'm still trying to figure certain features out after almost two weeks of usage. I don't see the average consumer finding use for it, but for anyone who does who has not used software like it before I would recommend reading the online documentation first.
- Other Thoughts: Overall this is a very nice bundle at a competitive price point. I was so pleased with it's performance that I am permanently installing it in my home to provide 24/7 monitoring and I plan on setting up the motion detection for when we go on vacation. A little peace of mind goes a long way.
*full disclosure, I was offered this product for reviewing purposes*

TRENDnet TV-IP851WIC 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Wireless Day / Night PTZ Cloud Camera

Review update
- Pros: Can be utilized for more than just security, (in addition to main review pros)
- Cons: Online software downloads are still not working for me, so I just stick with the dvd
- Other Thoughts: I am finding out more ways to utilize the camera. The old lady was at our daughters softball game and actually signed onto the cloud to see if she had left her equipment bag by the front door, or was somewhere else, and voila' there it was! She has also used it as a temporary "nanny cam" stopping the kids from some bad behavior that they would have gotten away with...lol Due to the appearance not looking like a traditional surveillance or security camera, it gets forgotten and gives us another way to keep an eye on them when in another room, or otherwise. The ability to move the view pretty much in any direction, even with the cellphone makes this very useful!! Also, having the ability to clearly hear what er're seeing is a big plus as well. It's nice to keep finding new ways to use something that was designed for another purpose.

Works Great, Good Price
- Pros: Works great, easy to set up. Very reliable, no reboots or lockups yet. Also, a previous reviewer said that no stream output is available. There is a streaming URL, for example if your IP address is 192.168.0.99 and you are running the camera on port 9999, the URL would be http://username:password@192.168.0.99:9999/videostream.cgi. Works with VLC and many other recorders/media players.
- Cons: None yet.
