Categories > Drill Bits & Sets > MAXTECH > Maxtech 120-Piece Titanium Coated Drill Bit Set and Indexed Steel Case with Latch

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 box of drill bits
Pros: Comes with a nice case for the bits.
Cons: The drill bits are of a soft alloy metel. Might be OK for wood only. Drilling steel the bit's cutting edge flattens out and is not able to complete even one hole. The smaller bits are so soft that they can be bent in your hand. Pushing pressure on a smsll drill will cause it to bend and fold sideways.
I do not recomend that anyone buy this bit set.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy.

Categories > Drill Bits & Sets > Irwin Tools > Irwin Tools 357020 Fastener Drive Tool and Drill Bit Set, 20-Piece

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5
Pros: I caught this set on sale for about 1/3 the MSRP, and they seem to be better than other brands at the same price.

The case is sturdy. I tested it by standing on it, and I am over 200 lbs. I am not sure what is supposed to be "rubberized". It is made of a thick durable plastic. The sliding latch is well attached, and it is sturdy, also. The latch stays in place with substantial jostling.

The drill bits seem to be good, but I am not sure how long they will hold an edge. From the quality of the set, this should not be a problem.

The driver bits seem to be good, also. I have not tried them for anything heavy-duty, but I would not expect any problems. It only includes a limited assortment, but other bits could be substituted.

The bit holder has a magnet to hold the bits in place, but without the magnet, it would securely hold the driver bits. The shaft of the holder has a plastic sleeve, and it feels "rubberized". This allows the driver shaft to turn while holding it.

The magnet on the nutsetters is strong, and it should not allow nuts to fall off. I prefer to hand start nuts, but it could help as an extension. The depth is shallow, and it is not a nut driver.

While in the case, everything is securely held in place. Nothing will fall out of its place, and everything is easy to extract/replace. The drill bits move up and slide out. The remaining items are rotated vertical and removed. This allows them to stay secure and to be easily removed.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Overall this is a really good set. For home use, it should be able to handle heavy duty applications. I am not sure how it would do for heavy-duty professional applications.

The case is bulky. If space is an issue, the case holders can be removed, and they could be tossed into something else. They will not fall out, but if they are being jostled, they could work loose.

There is space for additional items to be placed into the case. Additional bits would fit. The plastic holders can be removed, or the case slots allow them to be rearranged. by removing all the plastic holders, the case could be used for something else.

The case hinge pin is open on the bottom, and it may eventually work loose. It is firmly in place, and it would need to be opened and closed many, many times. I do not anticipate this ever happening, but if it did, it could be easily pushed back into place.

I did not include this in the Con section because I doubt it would ever happen. I am only including it for completeness.

Categories > Drill Bits & Sets > MAXTECH > Maxtech 120-Piece Titanium Coated Drill Bit Set and Indexed Steel Case with Latch

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 The worst ever bits!
Pros: There were a lot of them.
The smaller ones will never get dull because they break when drilling the softest wood.
The entire kit can be recycled as scrap metal
Cons: Can barely drill into pine, cannot handle aluminum, wouldn't waste my time on iron or steel. The little ones snap and the bigger ones get dull on the first use
Other Thoughts: Case is the same quality as the bits...if you pick up the case by the handle, all the bits fall out of their containers and mix together at the bottom of the case.

If you have a problem, you cannot contact 1SaleADay...nor can NewEgg.

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 JUNK!
Pros: Nothing I can think of
Cons: I made a really bad choice in buying these. Needed to drill a piece of steel (soft steel) and bit would not much more than scratch it. Really bad bits. I think the worst I have ever came across. I have already thrown all of them away. Was suprised Newegg would have sold such bad quality.

Categories > Drill Bits & Sets > MAXTECH > Maxtech 120-Piece Titanium Coated Drill Bit Set and Indexed Steel Case with Latch

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Absolute JUNK!!!
Pros: Drill fine in wood
Cons: Cannot even drill mild steel!!!! I am in construction as well as computers and this has got to be the worst set of drill bits I have ever seen. When putting even the slightest bit of pressure on the 1/4" bit it BENDS!! I have never in my life seen that. Obviously made of cheap steel.
Other Thoughts: Do Not Buy unless you just need wood bits.

Categories > Drill Bits & Sets > DEWALT > DeWalt DW1649 8-Piece Self Feed Bit Kit

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 You get what's shown and listed
Pros: Awesome bit set.
Nice, durable case.
Killer price when on sale.
DeWalt quality.
*Accurate photo representation of what you will be receiving.
Cons: *You must read the description, there is a line break at the 5 1/2" bit-extension, which made the previous reviewer believe that a 5 1/2" bit was included.

Description reads:
5-1/2-Inch Self Feed Bit
Extension

Which means:
"5-1/2-Inch Self Feed Bit Extension"

It does not mean:
5-1/2-Inch Self Feed Bit
PLUS
Extension
Other Thoughts: It's an 8 piece set. Count the pieces. (7) bits plus (1) extension ='s (8) total pieces.

If a 5 1/2" bit was also included, it would be a (9) piece set.

Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2 DeWalt DW1649 mis advertising
Pros: Dewalt tools are great. Love them. Newegg is fantastic. But occasionaly makes mistakes too.
Cons: incorrect Overview. There is no '5-1/2 inch self feed bit'.
Looking at 'whats in the box', it shows eight 'Self Feed Bit's and an extension. I kept looking at the picture for the 5-1/2 inch bit. It doesn't exist. In stead of 'extension' the description should read '5-1/2 Inch Self Feed Bit Extension'. Whoever wrote up the description presed the enter key one too many times.
Other Thoughts: Other than missing out on the 5-1/2 bit that I would have loved. The set is great.

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Junk
Pros: Hmm, The case might be useful, but it is poor quality
Cons: 1: The bits are worthless. They might drill into balsa wood, I tried a 1/4 bit into a 2x6 pine. It was slow... Then tried it in to 14 gauge metal, it kind of scratched it a a bit.

This is nothing but junk
Other Thoughts: Why did I think that I was getting a good deal on these $79.99 bits for $19.99 with shipping... Ah a fool and his money....
