Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Don't fear change
Pros: With this and an ssd my pc boots in 10 seconds. After installing it I first did not like the layout but gave it some time. A couple of months later I have to say that I really do like its functionality. People are too quick to judge it now that it looks different and doesn't have the usual start button. Try it out, it runs all of my programs smoothly
Cons: The app store is horrible, spent $7 on a DVD program so that I could play dvds and it didn't work. Windows media player does NOT play dvds with this

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Love it!!
Pros: Metro ... yep I actually like it even without a touchscreen. Customizable..easy to pin my most used apps and programs right where I want them. Stable...haven't had an issue with a single program. FAST...wow the boot times are amazing. Search feature is great. There are so many things to love about this OS.
Cons: None.....ok so it took a week or two to retrain my muscles to click in different places. Just because the way you do things have changed doesn't make it bad. Honestly if you aren't an old dog who can't learn new tricks then this OS is real easy to learn and actually quite efficient.
Other Thoughts: I recently built a new rig for my son and was hesitant to install this OS. I decided to take a chance and I am so glad I did. I have grown tired of building new systems and installing the same old.boring OS's. This is the first build in quite some time that actually felt like something fresh and new. He loves it as well. He is only 10 so he isn't set in his ways like most Windows users so he adapted to it like a fish in water. Oh and games are great on this as well if your a gamer. Overall this is a great system and I would recommend to anyone who isn't afraid of change.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Favorite OS
Pros: I've been using Windows since XP, and with the introduction of Windows 8, I felt lost. So when I built my new rig, I decided that I would use Windows 7 and am glad I did. If Microsoft ever realizes that what works on tablets won't necessarily work on PC, then I might buy their newest OS's.
Cons: None.

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 It's Windows
Pros: It's not Windows 8. Still not ready to move to Win8 after reading the comments here and elsewhere.
Cons: If you try and move your outlook IMAP .ost file to another HDD location using Outlook 2013, I've yet to find a way for it to work. All the complicated instructions assume Windows 8 OS. More of an issue with Outlook 2013 though.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Amazing
Pros: I love this os, very neat and easy to use, i started with windows 95, and there have only been slight, but satisfying changes, i used windows 8 for about a weak and i dropped it because there were too many changes that were not satisfying
Go With Windows 7
Cons: none so far, been using this os since it came out and i love it
Other Thoughts: Definitely love this over windows 8, let micrsoft know how mutch they messed up, don't buy windows 8, buy windows 7

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Microsoft's way of saying "F U loyal customer"
Pros: None at all, the interface changed completely, and their little option of desktop mode, basically was like saying "here, watch the operating system you know and love die before your eyes"
I mean what the hell microsoft
Cons: is definitely not as fluid as they say, metro ui is just a punchline to windows 8, they got rid of the start button, and does not work on a laptop
Other Thoughts: If windows doesn't change back, I'm switching to mac (yes i know, apple sucks, but at least they know how to please their customers, and they don't make stupid changes to a familiar ui, look at it, it hasn't changed in 30 years)

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Micro$oft
Pros: Its the cheapest version and 64 bit. Solid OS.
Cons: Craps out at 16gb of RAM.

I would have liked to know that before I bought it and put 2 weeks worth of work setting up a machine that I can't use the memory on. It's not in the product details.

64bit system should not do this. This is Micro$oft trying to get people to pay more for pro or Ultimate, but FAILING TO COMMUNICATE that this is a LIMITED 64BIT SYSTEM. Now I'm stuck.
Other Thoughts: Newegg is great, but I just want to pound on a Micro$oft geek right now.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 WIndows 7
Pros: See other thoughts
Cons: See other thoughts
Other Thoughts: As far as the consumer computer market is concerned, you are left to choose between two main competitors for the operating system that occupies your computer: Microsoft, or Apple. Windows 7 is an operating system developed by Microsoft and released to the consumer market in October of 2009. Although Windows 7 does now have a successor, Windows 8, it has been my personal experience that as operating systems age slightly they become more complete. More time to hear complaints, to find weaknesses, and to develop fixes for said problems allow for better system stability and ease of use. Not to say that any OS is free of faults or bugs – because Windows 7 still has it's share of problems – but as far as stable operating systems go: Microsoft performed well with Windows 7.
Connecting multiple devices to a home network, playing games, streaming videos from a home server, and compatibility with different types of programs: Windows 7 is perhaps what the average PC user would expect to be able to get from an OS. Plenty of prompts and wizards guide you through the setup of your own homegroup, which allows PCs all throughout a home to share files amongst one another. PC performance is superior to that of older versions of Windows as Windows 7 makes use of modern hardware including more memory and faster processors – I also don't mind being able to run four monitors, each with a different program!

As a person that has used Windows as an operating system for a number of
years, I must say that Windows 7 has been the best Windows OS by far. Stable, fast, convenient, simple – all of these make Windows 7 a very good OS for those who want powerful computing at their fingertips without having to have extensive computing knowledge or skill.
Regarding other operating systems, OS X (Apple's OS) and Linux, they each have their own place and skills; Macs tend to be better for all things media related and Linux machines are known for their ability to be as flexible as your imagination, but, in my opinion, Windows 7 is truly a solid operating system with enough great features to satisfy the needs of all types of users.
