CTA Digital U.S. Army Universal Gaming Headset With 3D Effect for PS3/XBOX/PC

It's alright if you don't have a massive head
- Pros: Pretty good sound quality. It's good, but it's probably not what you'd expect at its price range.
The microphone is more than acceptable. It's not as clear as you might expect for its price range but it's certainly not awful. Excellent cord length, you're not going to be forced closer to your system by its length. Volume slider is conveniently located and it can adjust both mic and game volume. - Cons: The slider makes it easy to accidentally mute your game or mic, and even change its setting to a different console's setting.
The cord requires intense uncoiling work if you use it at any distance less than ten feet. Sound quality and mic quality are good, but not what you'd expect for the price range. You can get a better headset for $40 less and if you can spend $80 on a headset, then you can do MUCH better. Also, and this is the main reason I'm writing this review, they are not for people with even remotely large heads. If you think you have even a slightly large head, then you need to keep looking because they will break without a moments hesitation if you so much as think about putting one of the earcups around one of your ears. Also, they tend to leave deep imprints in your hair, even if you've got relatively close cropped hair. It's not a huge deal since you can just run a brush through your hair a couple of times and be done with it, but it's still a little irritating.

Bad Experience
- Pros: Nice fit and comfortable to wear. Surround sound seemed nice for the couple hours I had them on.
- Cons: Shipped with bad talkback cable. Can't use them to chat with friends.
- Other Thoughts: Hopefully RMA will get me a set that works.

Turtle Beach Call of Duty: Black Ops II Ear Force Tango

Not worth 300$
- Pros: The earcups are comfortable
Loud like all turtle beaches I can change my voice through the headset - Cons: Sound is no better then my Turtle beach X-Rays
Heavier then TB X-Rays Battery life is drastically shorter then the X-Rays People say my voice sounds distorted at times
- Other Thoughts: I have owned these for quite some time, and I can say I got them as a gift. This headset looks pretty but isn't what you need. I feel the X-Rays have a better quality feel, longer battery life, reaches across the house. The Tango's I leave my living room and I hear hissing, I go farther, and they cut off completely.
If you're looking for a better headset, also cheaper, go with the Turtle Beach X-Rays.

Not bad... Read other thoughts before you buy though.
- Pros: Newegg had the best price.
They are comfortable and feel light on the head. Look cool. - Cons: Not wireless but that would be hard to do and keep light with a battery and 8 speakers needing power lol.
No analog input surround options :( see "Other thoughts" for why this is a con...
I only play BF3 and the sound is great except for it seems like sometimes the sound (mainly the explosions) is almost like a hall/echo type unless I just am noticing the Dolby Digital compression. I set the enhanced stereo off as you should for surround and set to headphones and also tried home cinema but same. No idea if is sound card or headphones or the game or if I am just more picky vs. others. Don't do anything else with SS to care and only got these for the game. Guess will found out with BF4 comes out lol
I wish these offered DTS which supports higher quality due to increase bit rate over optical.
Wish the side green logo lights could be turned off. The cable has a power LED don't need more lights lol but not really a con, just don't care for them, maybe just make them glow in dark or leave them bright green with no light..
Non-refundable with Newegg so couldn't return (see other thoughts for why I would have returned, optical issue and no analog)
- Other Thoughts: So got these for my computer and learned the hard way that 90% of the computers that come with optical out don't support 5.1 through them. To use Optical out with 5.1 on games you must have Dolby Digital Live. This is only supported on sound cards that have the proper hardware and licensing. I had to buy an USB sound card (this is a laptop) to get working which was another 50 bucks and also waste my last USB port and now have a no gadget on my desk :(
Movies that are Dolby Digital will be fine as they are already encoded so it's passive and will work but everything else needs something to encode it as games don't use Dolby Digital but use a raw format, thus needing an card that can encode :(
I would have returned and got a set that did USB or analog but I had an optical out and figured this was better but turns out not to really be the case. Analog surround sound outputs on a computer will offer highest quality as Dolby Digital uses audio compression which will reduce quality a little. If these offered both optical and analog SS input would have been perfect, could just plug in the few extra cables.

My new favorite headset
- Pros: Sound quality is amazing along with the fact that it looks very sturdy and the included mixer is classy. I enjoy how comfortable the ear pads are and how I do not even notice them on my head after a while.
- Cons: had to think of something; can't change the color of the lit up "pro" log on the sides of each ear, I like the neon green but my rig is all blue, and I just like blue.
- Other Thoughts: best 5.1 headset I have ever bought.

CTA Digital U.S. Army Universal Gaming Headset With 3D Effect for PS3/XBOX/PC

Good product
- Pros: Good clear sound
Bass is good Cannot hear outside noise Directional sound is good 3D effect works really well with SOME games, when the 3D effect is not on they still sound good - Cons: The only instructions that come with it are how to plug it into your pc/Xbox/ps3
There is slight discomfort after wearing them for long periods of time (6 hrs) I cannot hear myself speak through the headset when playing on PS3, which causes my to scream at my TV until the wee hours of the morning.
- Other Thoughts: I know a headset it basically plug and play. But I would have really liked an instruction booklet to just go over all the features and specifications on the product. If anyone knows how to make it so I can hear my own voice through the headset please let me know.

Calling Bill Shatner
- Pros: Color is great
Magnets are fun Side Mirrors allow me to see as well as hear elves sneaking up on me - Cons: Only fits two ears
Doesn't have nose fitting microphone
- Other Thoughts: Like the previous reviewer, I too have traveled forward in time to get my advance pair of these headphones. What can I say, totally in love with them. The optional flower vase reminds me of my 2027 VW Beetle. I just wish they picked up more radio stations that were not set in Cleveland Ohio 1974.

TRITTON 720+ 7.1 Surround Headset For Xbox 360 AND Playstation 3, by Mad Catz

Amazing
- Pros: This headset has good quality sound. On the xbox i can hear about everything going on the map. The bass is really good. The mic. is very sensitive which is good if you don't want to wake anyone up at night. On the pc the sound is great. I would recommend them to anybody who is a gamer on pc and xbox. If you are only on pc and look for a cheap headset look at corsair 1500 they are good.
- Cons: The cord going from the tritton box to the xbox is short not that big of deal though. When you want to use the pc you have to unplug all the cords going to the xbox.
- Other Thoughts: This pair of headset is amazing. Buy them and you will know.

Works as it should
- Pros: The kinect works great and tracks really well. The auto adjust is a nice feature that makes gaming easier. I have the ps3 move in the same room but the tracking is a lot better with the kinect. Connecting to the PC is a lot easier than with the PS3 since its basically a Microsoft system. The 3 games are fun and you could spend hours on them, great selection. Easy to setup.
- Cons: Need a hdmi cable which is separate for best possible graphics. The updating and signing up for Xbox live is cumbersome and slow when first setting up. Basically paying for almost everything, as is common practice with Microsoft products. Kinect needs lots of room in order to function well. Having to pay for xbox live is no fun but is almost necessary to get full function of the Xbox.
- Other Thoughts: The bundle is great and will provide hours of fun out the box, however setup is no fun and takes time. The kinect seems to be the best out of the 3 movement based game systems. The only big annoyance is shelling out for Internet play on a subscription basis but best bang for your buck in my opinion.
