Seagate Expansion 2TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive

Tech Level: High - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: HUGE. Shuts down when computer is shut down/cable detaches. Got this one for $149 on a black friday deal, can't complain.

Cons: When it wakes up and when it parks the heads, it's *LOUD*. Hear it over your stereo loud. Massively loud. When it's awake and in use, quiet as a mouse. Just for the initial half second when it's going from idle to active, and a half second when going from active to idle. I'm almost positive it's just a design characteristic, since during normal operation it's whisper quiet.

Other Thoughts: Even with the noise, well worth the price providing it's not actually a fault that will eventually lead to premature failure. Attached brief video of the drive with sound, please no flames about the stickers. i work on PCs for a living, so it only makes sense I'd like to keep my work at . . well. . work :P

And sorry about the watermark, Handbrake apparently ditched .avi and .mpeg support >.>
