Newegg and Give Back Box Celebrate Earth Day with New Initiative
4/22/2014 Press Release
Companies Join Forces to Encourage Charitable Giving and Sustainability
April 22, 2014 – Los Angeles, CA – Newegg today announced a new initiative in its official brand partnership with Give Back Box. Together, the companies provide Newegg’s customers the convenience of donating household items, including gently used clothing, shoes, etc. directly to a non-profit charity to make a major difference in the life of another.
Using Give Back Box is simple. Customers simply place the things they no longer want or need in the Newegg shipping box they just received, seal the box, attach the included pre-paid shipping label and ship as usual. If a box arrives without a label inside, customers can go to www.Newegg.com/GiveBackBox and print Give Back Box labels at home. Newegg’s partnership with Give Back Box makes it easy, convenient and cost free for customers to donate their used goods to those in need.
In December 2013, Newegg and Give Back Box piloted a program where Newegg customers received pre-paid shipping labels to send donations to Goodwill. The pilot program ran during the busiest shopping month of the year and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Goodwill was impressed with the amount and value of items donated. Even the boxes were properly recycled to ensure every aspect of this program contributed to sustainability.
“Based on our participation last year, we recognized that Give Back Box not only increases charitable giving, but also ensures resources are completely used,” said Soren Mills, Chief Marketing Officer of Newegg North America. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Earth Day 2014.”
Beginning April 22, Newegg orders will arrive with prepaid shipping labels and instructions on how best to package clothes and other household items for donation. This unique approach gives Newegg customers a cost-free, effortless way to donate much-needed items to charity.
“At Give Back Box we are passionate about our cause and, with the help of industry heavyweights like Newegg, we are making a difference,” said Monika Wiela, founder and CEO of Give Back Box. “Newegg is taking a bold step by partnering with Give Back Box and we applaud the company’s commitment to reduce shipping waste and encourage philanthropic giving among its customers.”
Using shipping boxes to make donations to charity is the first of many new, forward-thinking programs Newegg will unveil in the months ahead. Newegg will continue to explore innovative ways for the company and its customers to embrace sustainability and reduce environmental impact.
