CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. - Newegg Inc., the second-largest online-only retailer in the U.S., kicked off the New Year with multiple prestigious honors, including a sixth place ranking in the "Overall Best Customer Service" category by the National Retail Federation. Additionally, for the sixth year in a row, Computer Shopper Magazine readers selected Newegg.com as "Overall Best Place to Buy Online."
Building Success in Difficult Economic Times
Since its launch in 2001, Newegg.com has continued to grow and expand, now boasting a customer database of over 11 million registered users. The company's Vice President of Marketing Bernard Luthi noted: "Newegg continues to build success even in today's tough economic climate by adhering to a clear cut set of principles and a no-nonsense business model that puts customer service above all else. We remain committed to delivering industry-leading prices on close to 40,000 consumer electronics and technology products, along with exceptional customer service and lightning-fast shipping. This is how we are able to continue performing above and beyond the expectations of our customers. Not only do we make it easy for our customers to find and evaluate the best-known and best-performing brand name products at lower prices, we add to this great value proposition by providing them with the finest customer service experience available."
Last week Newegg was honored as one of the top 10 winners for customer service at the Annual Retail Industry Luncheon during the National Retail Federation's 98th Annual Convention and EXPO in New York City. The NRF Foundation/American Express 2008 Customer Service survey, conducted by BIGresearch, a consumer insights research firm, was designed to gauge consumer attitudes toward retailers' customer service and to provide a listing of the top customer service retailers. This is the second year in a row Newegg has made the top ten list for Overall Best Customer Service, ranking sixth place this year, four places up from its tenth place ranking last year.
Earlier this month, Computer Shopper Magazine and ComputerShopper.com announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas its winners for the 22nd annual Shoppers' Choice Awards. The awards recognize Computer Shopper readers' picks for the year's best technology products, companies, and services in 47 categories. Newegg was distinguished as the "Overall Best Place to Buy Online" for the sixth year in a row, as well as "Best Place to Buy" in multiple categories including: Desktops, Notebooks, Software, Peripherals, and Components. As further proof of its growing presence in the consumer electronics industry, early in the holiday season in November, PC Magazine and PcMag.com selected www.newegg.com as one of the "5 Best Places to Buy Online Electronics."
Business Model Focuses on Deals and Customer Service
While the past holiday season marked the first decline in holiday sales since 1995 according to the NRF (down 2.8 percent from $460.2 billion in 2007 to $447.5 billion in 2008), Newegg managed to post double digit growth in sales revenues. For 2009, Newegg plans to continue improving customer satisfaction by offering a wide selection of products at prices that cater to any budget, offering useful suggestions and links to related products, links to manufacturer web sites, informative product reviews, product rebates, and flexible payment options.
