Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii changed how many consumers play video games. Instead of using joysticks and buttons, players became the controllers by holding the console's remotes. Gamers could perform different gestures to direct the on-screen action.

Peripheral devices can make the Wii even more fun to use. You can buy fishing rods and bowling balls that you can connect with your remote so you can truly mimic the actions of going out on the lake or throwing a strike. There are even steering wheels that can make driving in games like "Mario Kart" feel as natural as it does in your own vehicle.

Gamers who aren't fans of the Nintendo Wii's motion controls can buy traditional controllers. All of the Wii's games have secondary commands that allow players to use other devices, including those from the Nintendo GameCube, when they want to play with their friends locally.

The Wii also boasts a massive library of exceptional titles. Every console comes bundled with "Wii Sports," which went from a technical demonstration to one of Nintendo's biggest hits. The game features boxing, bowling, baseball, tennis and golf and teaches players how to use the motion controls. Nintendo also brought back fan-favorite characters like Mario, Kirby and Donkey Kong.

Nintendo also brought in third-party publishers to produce some of the Wii's best games. You can find popular franchises with titles like "LEGO: Lord of the Rings" and "FIFA Soccer 13."

The Nintendo Wii is fun for gamers of all ages and has a roster of kid-friendly titles as well as some geared toward older players. Publishers are still producing high-quality games for the console, so you can always find the latest releases.
