4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Its SeaSonic.. You know it is going to be good.

Cons: I have to take one egg for one issue that hurts you on the looks of your build.

If you have a videocard with 2 power ports, you can use one cable to to connect to both of them. However the sheathing on the is so stiff that the tight bend in wire might cause undo stress on the card. (even the modular cable alone seemed to be to tight of a bend to make on the msi gtx 970) So had to 2 cables for the one card. But it really is a nonissue.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi April, Thank you for your review. For the cabling, please use the warm air from a hair dryer to warm up the cables, this will make it more pliable and easier to install. Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsNice PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Fully Modular PSU, comes with everything you'll need, screws, twist ties and all those goodies for cable management. Even comes with a power cord, like I said, comes with everything.

Installing the PSU unit was very easy, lined up nicely in my full tower. The PCEI connectors that are connected to the unit were fairly easy to install in the video card. Everything else was fairly easy to install minus the sata connectors.

Cons: The sata power connectors I got with this thing SUCKED. I had to really "apply force" to attach them to my hdd. Never had problems with any sata power connectors before, could be a bad batch but after the initial force, taking them off and reapplying them was still somewhat hard.

The fan on this unit is somewhat more noisy compared to my old Corsair but it's not bad that bad for a gaming rig.

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipped this thing FAST, it was in purolator's hand and would've been delivered to my door the next day if the courier delivering it hadn't knocked once, ran back to his van and take off as I was running out to catch him,

Had to drive an hour away to pick it up from the purolator center, was not happy about this.

2 out of 5 eggsAfter some use

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: PSU does its job, just noisy.

Cons: The fan makes erratic clicking noises to the point where I can't use this PSU anymore (my environment is fairly quite). Rather than go through the RMA process I just bought another PSU as I need it for work. Unfortunate since seasonic has served me well previously.

Other Thoughts: I'll probably put this PSU in a machine I don't use much.

Manufacturer Response:

HI Chris, sorry about the noise issue, can you please contact us at newegg@seasonicus.com and we will see how best we can resolve your issue. Or please do a RMA at www.seasonicusa.com Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsNicest Power Supply I have ever bought

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Comes in a very nice package
Has a bag to keep all the accessories
Very good documentation
5 year warranty
Super silent, I can barely hear it.
Came with every conceivable power supply cable. SATA power, molex power, you name it.

Cons: I have a BitFenix Prodigy and maybe its a little too big for it. At 160, its on the bigger side of power supplies. Other than that, no cons.

Other Thoughts: All my life I have just bought cheap 20-30 dollar power supplies that probably weren't even 80+ rated and built with cheap components. This is the nicest power supply I have ever gotten.

Bought this for a mini-ITX hackintosh, worked very nicely.

From my research SEASONIC is the best as they are the standard with which every other power supply is measured up against.

4 out of 5 eggsEverything but the coil whine is great

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Solid build
-Semi-modular design is perfect for small form factor builds
-Cable inputs are perfectly oriented (at least for a Fractal Design Node 304)
-Quiet fan

Cons: -Coil whine is audible :(

Other Thoughts: I love everything about this power supply aside from the cable whine. I don't notice it when gaming though. The orientation of the cable plug-ins allowed me to fit the massive ASUS DirectCU II 780 Ti into a mini-ITX case (again Fractal Design Node 304) without any issues. Overall I'm very happy. If my build weren't so quiet I probably wouldn't notice the coil whine at all.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Peter, thank you very much for your review. In terms of the coil whine, please update your BIOS and make sure all your energy savings modes are enabled and also please disable VSync for the VGA during 3D or gaming. Thank you again.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Going Strong

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Great price, efficient, five year warranty, durable

Cons: Wish it had more outputs for hard drives, etc. Could use longer cords.

Other Thoughts: So far I have owned this power supply about a year and six months give or take a month. Zero issues so far and near silent. Can't ask for much more.

5 out of 5 eggsGood PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: PSU works fine.

I7-2600K, 32GB RAM, Sapphire R290 and change.

Replaced 6 years old Antec 850W unit. Everything works fine.
R290 coil whine is gone with new PSU.

Cons: None
