1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

This review is from: ASUS USB-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2

Pros: Fast speeds when it actually works

Cons: Hardly ever works.
When it does work it nearly immediately cuts out 5 or so minutes later

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

This review is from: ASUS USB-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2

Pros: This wireless adapter is amazing. My old wireless adapter broke so I was running using a laptop with internet sharing and getting about 2 mb/s download speed. I now get in the upwards of 5 mb/s. Of course this is dependent on your internet connection and such.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My router is in my basement and I am on the second floor with amazing speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

This review is from: ASUS USB-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2

Pros: - Wireless N transmission.
- Supports multiple network encryption methods.
- Compact, stylish.
- Price.
- Compatible with Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 out of the box.
- Wow. I've owned this little wireless adapter for over four years and it still works perfectly with constant usage over that time frame. Obviously durability isn't a major concern.

Cons: - None.

Other Thoughts: - Even though it is somewhat of an older piece of hardware, it still performs excellently, and in my experience, it has a very long lifespan, especially considering the small price.

2 out of 5 eggsConstant Disconnections from less than 10ft away from wireless router

This review is from: ASUS USB-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2

Pros: Good brand, looks nice.

Cons: When I stay on a web browser surfing the web for a few minutes it disconnects. This is happening constantly and is very frustrating, will not be buying another wireless adapter from Asus again. Their wireless routers are fine though, I'm using one. I know the problem is from the adapter because the TP-Link I replaced with this had no problems whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I'd thought it'd be best to pair this adapter with my wireless router because they're the same brand (they even have the same design) so there'd be no problems. Guess not, I probably have a defective one or something.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesnt honor Rebates

This review is from: ASUS USB-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2

Pros: The price, but see Cons.

Cons: The dont honor rebates. I'm so disgusted that I dont even use this thing. I hope their rebate reseller goes out of business. I'd give you 0 stars but it wont let me.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed in Windows and Linux

This review is from: ASUS USB-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2

Pros: Maybe it's broken and not just useless. For now, it seems that I just accidentally bought an old adapter that, surprisingly, doesn't seem to work with newer kernel versions. But then, it didn't work in Windows either. See 'other thoughts.'

Cons: Ubuntu Linux: Plug it in and the light comes on. I even get a second option under my wifi networks, so it shows both my internal card and this usb stick. However, when I try to connect to my network using the usb option, it can't ever make the connection. Tried on Ubuntu 12.10 and 13.10.
Windows 7: Similarly, it looked like it was going to work in Windows. My computer recognized the adapter and I connected under it. However, the connection kept getting dropped and was unreliable/slow. I just went back to my internal card with a max of 54 gbps. I'll try doing the driver myself, but I'll may have to find another way to upgrade.

Other Thoughts: So, I started writing this review, and then looked up some more stuff. Apparently this thing is old, and only supports older version of the linux kernel and Ubuntu officially, so it's misleading to say that it is supported in Linux. Version B2 (at least according to the manufacturer's link on the Newegg site) supports up to Ubuntu 9.04. YIKES. B1 version claims to go up to 11.04, but that's still not the current LTS version. I got the worse version B2, by the way.
"This driver only supports kernel 2.618~2.6.38"

3 out of 5 eggsAsus Disappoints

This review is from: ASUS USB-N13 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2

Pros: Card installs with software on Windows without problems

Cons: Software does not Work for OS X Lion. No amount of updates, from America or Asia, would allow this card to work. Software interface is designed by a 3rd world 10 year old. STAY AWAY MAC USERS!

Other Thoughts: Windows users you're OK. Mac users, don't bother! And I'm a IT pro, trust me. The USB-N10 actually does work with Lion. For some reason, the chipset in this is JUNK!
