3 out of 5 eggsGood value for money

Pros: Great price, capable machine, nice size, love the bezel swipe feature

Cons: Not an iPad, browser bookmark management is poor, Eco-system support is severely lacking

Other Thoughts: 16 was too small, upgraded to 32 for "on-the-go" movies, with HDMI output. Still take the iPad, although now on a mini.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a good choice

Pros: 7 inch and 'seems' durable

Cons: glitchy software and must be reset often. Battery charging issues.

Other Thoughts: This playbook is the main reason I'm getting something I was trying to Ipad. But, paying more and having more satisfaction is probably worth it in the long run. I was going to get more playbooks for our children, but not now. Dead battery in 5 months is not acceptable to me.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible tablet

Pros: none

Cons: First of all ignore all positive reviews. This is terribly manufactured device, even though at first it looks as well made. The tablet had screen flaws right out of box. No money back policy so I could either return for replacement or repair. I decided to send to RIM for repair. Well RIM did not fix stupid screen. They just sent me unrepaired device !!!! And I lost money on my purchase.
Now I understand why they are going bankrupt, I would never ever buy RIM product again !!
It should be zero stars but I had pick at least one to submit review.

3 out of 5 eggsO K +

Pros: Good multitasking. Works great with Slacker Radio App.
Excellent screen with great resolution. Very good battery and hardware.
Top mounted button not much of an issue. Speakers OK.

Cons: Lack of available apps. Blackberry is supposed to add droid apps capability but keeps changing the release date for that.

You must get used to another operating system with the playbook, so there is a learning curve. The os seems good once you get the knack. It is a simple but effective os.

I was disappointed to find out that you cannot download and save free music, seems that no tablet does that, so I have been told by Blackberry.

Other Thoughts: Paid $199 from newegg for 16gb version feb. 2012.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Tablet for the money

Pros: Hardware is grade A very responsive on wifi. Good quality build. touch screen is very responsive. for right now no droid apps or QNX OS update but there are more blackberry apps added than last week so there is an interest in making apps for this device. Very Good work tablet for the professional even if not connected to a blackberry phone...

Cons: no cons of right now with this device I knew what I was getting into when I decided on purchasing this specific tablet.

Other Thoughts: The only regret I can see is not purchasing a version with more storage, but time will tell if I will need more storage space. I currently have a droid 4" phone/tablet & I wanted to give the Playbook a try, I do not regret this purchase. I am happy I gave this device a try as I also wanted something different other than a Apple product, for me this fitted the bill.

1 out of 5 eggsPlaybook 64 is a dasappointment

Pros: Graphics are good. Battery life is good.

Cons: Compared to my Dell Streak 7 and Ipad 1, this is the worst tech investment I've made in 10 years. Swipes are marginal and glitchy. It doesn't interface well with cloud based reader purchases. Reviewers that suggest a powerful browser appear to have not expereinced IPad or Android tablet browsers that respond faster in side by side tests. BB apps are overpriced and limited. HDMI doesn't seem to interface with my TVs or monitors. None of these issues exist with my Andriod or Apple OS tablets. I was a Blackberry fan before the Storm 1 came out and purchased this based on positive reviews. Touch screen on this is worse than the storm one release. I'm wondering if RIM employees are spaming the reviews. My only hope is that there is an Android Honeycomb release to give this hardware a chance to meet its potential. Its about a half inch taller than the streak 7 and will not fit in a suit or sport coat breast pocket like the discontinued streak.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if this machine is worth $100 firesale prices unless an android release occurs. Shame on RIM. I expected more!

5 out of 5 eggsLove my playbook

Pros: Been using my playbook for a few weeks now and I just the size and how easy it is to use. Not to mention I love going to sites with flash. I have an ipad but ipad currently collecting dust. All that's missing on the playbook are the apps. Then again, the browser is so good I can just visit the regular sites. All and all, I cant wait for the update so this can be what it was suppose to be from the first place.

Cons: Not enough apps or apps that's work getting yet. wish the camera had flash and the battery was a little better though.

5 out of 5 eggsknow what you're getting into...

Pros: - great screen and browser; flash streaming sites work seamlessly w/o lag: i'm able to view full episodes on both CBS and NBC's website, haven't tried ABC shows yet
- speakers produce great sound
- responsive and no lag
- love the keyboard's "tactile" feedback vs ipad's
- fits in my jacket/coat pocket
- easily pairs w/ my portable bluetooth keyboard
- can easily tether w/ my blackberry phone for wireless internet browsing w/o needing to root or "jailbreak"
- easily connects to wifi networks; no need to reconfigure wifi settings if you've previously saved the wifi settings/password on your blackberry phone
- can natively open and edit word, excel and powerpoint files
- drag and drop files to and from playbook
- multitasking

Cons: - very few and more expensive apps than IOS and Android; ios/android apps go on sale/free often but this doesn't happen w/ playbook apps
- cannot manage or rearrange browser bookmarks
- cannot use blackberry bridge if your phone connects through BES but can still tether to surf internet wirelessly; no problem w/ BIS
- you are stuck w/ ebooks attained from the KOBO store only, no free ebook app to read non-KOBO ebooks
- ms silverlight doesn't work
- no java support
- hulu not supported

Other Thoughts: - know the shortcomings of owning the playbook if you don't own a blackberry phone before complaining about the lack of native mail, calendar or contact apps
- most of the CONS will be address in the major software update promised for Feb 2012, but i'm satisfied with PB even if RIM doesn't keep its promise
- no regrets on the purchase

5 out of 5 eggs1st BB product, but in no way a hater!

Pros: Hardware in this machine is top notch. Well built machine. Software is also good and will get better with updates. Killer graphics and hi def is second to none. Not an android nor a fruit basket but a TRUE multitasker! Cant wait for the OS updates for even more connectivity! But does everything that I've asked of it.

Cons: True it has it's setbacks in the apps department but knew it going in. If RIM addresses the native email, calendar, contacts, use of android apps and MKV movie files with it's OS update I will be dancing.

Other Thoughts: Contrary to all the BB haters I'm still going to be open minded about this product. Have used an Ipad and android products and they seem to work more like a phone. (Slow) I wanted something that works more like a mini PC and this thing is all that! Some things that it wont do I've found ways of a work around. Connectivity is awesome and multitasking is seamless. As long as RIM addresses the problems of any new product that hits the market with it's OS update to be provided next month I will be one happy camper! To be continued..........

The reviewers which gave this device 1* either don't know much about Tablet Technology or have limited Tech knowledge. You need to be resourceful in finding information on products.

About Playbook:
Powerful Dual-Core Processor @ 1.0 GHz speed, a full 1GB of Ram. Has full 1080p High Def playback along with full Micro-HDMI so you can hook up your HDTV anytime for playback of your videos/movies on the big screen or you just want to game on your big screen.
This tablet is very responsive and fast, last about 10 hrs etc..

Cons: Absolutely nothing, though I do wish it has wings...

Other Thoughts: Once again Massive OS update that should include Android support coming in FEB 2012...
