Color3 Advanced HDMI Color Processing Device

ICON Loading...

Color hasn’t evolved since the 1970’s, but our TV’s have. It needed to play catch-up, so Entertainment Experience created Color3 to bring your viewing experience into the 21st century and beyond, regardless of room conditions.

With Color3 you don’t need to compromise. Our adaptive technologies present the perfect picture no matter where you put the TV, or the lighting of the room. When watching movies you see the richness of the color the way the director intended it. For video games we deliver a bolder, in-your-face experience. For sports enthusiasts, you’ll feel like you’re actually there, sitting right on the field.

  • newegg Powered by eeColor eeColor Technology is the world's first 3D, multi-dimensional color video technology which leverages over 35 years of research and experience in visual color science by experts from Kodak, Hollywood film production and amusement park to overcome the current color quality limitations. eeColor uses 3D color mapping to increase colorfulness, brightness and contrast at the same time preserving skin tones and memory colors. This is accomplished through an exclusive technology that is based on the actual physics of adaptive vision wherein less bright lighting makes objects look less colorful and lower contrast, and higher colorfulness makes objects look brighter and higher contrast.
  • newegg Six (6) user-controlled color settings Color is one of the most important characteristics of high quality picture. Color3 features six (6) user-controlled color settings allowing you to select the right display setting to maximize the viewing experience of your favorite content. You can program settings with the included remote control.
  • newegg THX approved THX has carefully selected, tested and recommended best-of-breed products in the HDMI accessory category, and verified the statements of the manufacturer. When used with THX Certified Displays, Receivers and other home theater products, the customer can be confident of a reliable experience.

2 out of 5 eggsNo memory to remember settings

Pros: There are 6 settings for this device. I cannot see any difference when using setting 1 (default). One problem is that if you use any other settings, when you turn the power off and on, the default setting is used. It means you will not be able to see any difference if you do not change settings every time you turn the device on.

Cons: Settings cannot be saved. Every time you turn the device on, you have to change the settings. You cannot see any difference using the default setting.

3 out of 5 eggsNice touch, but not worth the cost.

Pros: It does increase the picture quality even on my brand-new TV.

Cons: Not worth $150.
I bought it on a mail-in rebate promotional making it free. It was definitely worth $0.

3 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: helps color reproduction on TVs(only)
seems to strip HDCP? (can't confirm, but windows shows the monitor as 'SII REPEATER')
works as an HDMI switch.

Cons: wish the USB port was actually soldered on.
Not for PC screens, windows has the exact same features.

Other Thoughts: FPGA has a 10 pin JTAG (if you're into that)

4 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised

Pros: When I purchased this device, it was free after mail-in-rebate, so I was expecting some janky HDMI switcher that might have some adverse effects to my HDMI signals since they are propagating through a box before hitting my screen. As it turns out, the thing simply booted up when I plugged it in and instantly recognized everything without having to mess with any settings. After maybe a minute of looking at my desktop something seemed off, like the concept art as my wallpaper was 'jumping' out at me. I attributed this to the box and confirmed it by using the remote. I turned the eeColor modes off to see what it used to look like. At this point I was extremely excited because everything looked better AND I got an HDMI switch to boot. I still had my doubts that maybe motion on the screen would ruin something. I booted up the movie, 'Brave' and changed the color mode to C5 (cinema mode) and was astounded by the Disney castle (with the fireworks and what not) that happens before the movie starts. The enhanced color really did something great for my viewing pleasure. For reference, I am using some AOC 24 inch monitor that is more or less a normal monitor I use to game with. During the movie everything looked better, its hard to describe in words, but the colors definitely got me excited.

Cons: The only truly bad thing I can say about this product is that when swapping between color modes, except from coming from a color mode to having no color mode, that some of the darker pixels on my screen would flicker white before finalizing their transition to the new color scheme. This lasts less than a second during the transition, but after that everything looks fabulous.

Other Thoughts: There was some black tape on the back of the device that covered a hole. I was curious to what hid here, secretly hoping for some extra free functionality but realistically thinking that perhaps it was a debugging port or a screw to hold the device together. It turns out it was neither of those, it was a hole intended for USB support, but was never implemented in this version of the product. The hole is labeled USB and looks to be the shape/size of a micro USB port, however, the actual port isn't there. From what I could see inside the box on the PCB is that there was an intention for the device to have USB but the port was never soldered onto the solder points that were visible. Perhaps the plan was for a future device to have USB support and just save money on the cases instead of having two different cases, one with USB and one without USB. That or USB was initially planned for the product and after the boards were ordered someone realized that the FPGA limits were exceeded if they tried to program everything they wanted to it. Either way, it seems kinda shady and not very professional in the end.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent results with pc

Pros: i used this on my lower end acer 27" lcd and it really helped with the washed out looking colors. FYI i use the sports setting input c3 on the remote and the setting are not user adjustable you get settings 1-6 and off and thats it. Would definitely recommend to anyone not pleased with their lcd color output and has a hdmi connection. The best way to tell the difference between settings is on non moving objects or paused a movie.

Cons: there are no cons considering the price.

3 out of 5 eggsSurpised By Results

Pros: seems to have a positive effect on picture quality

Cons: Has adversely affected audio/video sync in my system. Very annoying.
Also, their website seems to be dead, so there is no technical support.

Other Thoughts: No phone or on-line support.

5 out of 5 eggsColor 3 Advanced HDMI, worth the risk

Pros: Quick way to adapt to changing light conditions ( day to night viewing )
Easy powered HDMI switching.

Quality built box in a small foot-print.
Remote works well.

Free with a Visa card rebate, go figure..
the hdmi switcher alone would cost 20 - 30 dollars.

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: If you do not like the Blue-Light, you can cover with Black electrical tape.

3 out of 5 eggsNot sure about this item

Pros: I think this may be of some help where a color management system is limited or non-existent. It may even help when the IS a good color management system.

Cons: The unit I got delayed the video outside of range of my receiver to sync to it. This "may" have been a defective unit as others haven't seen this problem. At the same time that I returned this unit and got a replacement (no problems there), my projector had to get sent in to the shop and I wasn't going to get it back until the return period from NewEgg was past. I didn't want to take the chance that the delay would still be there so I returned it for a refund. I never got a chance to really test it.

Other Thoughts: I just don't know if the delay was due to a faulty unit or whether it doesn't work well with my projector. If the price comes down a little, I'll probably buy another. NewEgg gave me no grief whatsoever when it came to the return.

1 out of 5 eggsNot that good

Pros: Gives some flexibility on satellite feeds, though a good fine tune of your TV will work just as well

Cons: Will not work on My 3D TV, tv refuses to accept the signal, states the TV adapter is not valid, valid without the processing device.
