Best DX9 card for its buck
- Pros: I bought this card about 4 months ago and am very surprised that I haven't found a game that I cant play.Part of that is due to a 2.2ghz dual core an 2 gigs of RAM,but mainly the video card.I play MOH Airborne at full settings, resolution 1280x1024 and get about 25-35 frames in intense battle, and looks great. The only game that make it chug is of course Crysis(which is the REAL test on you pc). I accept some low frame rates(low15-high40) to set all graphics setting to high except shadows(which I turn off),and resolution to 1024z768.But I highly recommend this card if your not worried about having DX10 and dont mind saying that you dont have the best hardware in the world. It is also easy and safe to overclock if you feel the need, just make sure you turn the fan up and the temp will be fine.
- Cons: No DX10, not like I didnt know though!
- Other Thoughts: OC GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3(DX10) only xxx.Kind of a head scratcher.Wish I would have seen this before!
affordable, 256bit, low wattage
- Pros: 95fps on Live For Speed.
The copper cooler it comes with is actually very quiet but I still swapped it out for the totally silent Accelero S1 cooler. For Idle/Peek wattage on this card is 20/47 while the 8800gs burns 54/116 (That's over 2x power consumption)
- Cons: always out of stock
- Other Thoughts: For me this card is a great substitute for an 8000 series card. It will hold me off until a 45nm 9000 gpu becomes affordable. I couldn't be happier playing LFS with this card and the Logitech G25.
Great card!
- Pros: Fast, no artifacts, price.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: This card is a bargain. I bought two because I was building a box for a friend too. plays UT3 very well at 12x10. Smooth. Already overclocked. A good mid-level step if you don't/can't shell out for an 8800GT+
