Pros: Cheapest member of the true X-Fi family.
Cons: Lacks X-Ram
Other Thoughts: Contrary to what some other individual's reviews on newegg say, this IS a true X-Fi card and DOES support EAX 5.0. This card directly replaced the XtremeMusic in the X-fi line up, which has been cause for some confusion. It is the XtremeAudio which is the crippled card that offers no hardware acceleration.

Pros: Easy hookup, great price and very LOUD!!!! lol
Cons: None, for me.
Other Thoughts: For those that are having issues with Vista....... DO NOT load anything from the CD that you receive with this card! Go to the Creative website and download the Vista drivers and other software. Mine works perfectly and the tons of settings make it even more outstanding.

Pros: I've had it for about 3 years and will never go back to on board audio because of it. It has changed my opinion about sound cards.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: Works just fine in Windows 7 64bit. Don't worry about all the people who say that it doesn't work. They just don't know how to install drivers. I've had this card working perfectly in Windows XP 32bit, Vista 32bit, and now Windows 7 64bit. Never had an issue. Just get it.

A mixed bag due to support issues

Pros: When it works correctly... boy it is a fantastic card. Sound has been crisp. Positional audio flawless. I use it with a Gigaworks 750 7.1 surround system and the combo is a dream...
Cons: ... a dream, of course, when it works. The harsh reality is that Creative's driver support is not great. The Windows 7 driver were, literally, released before Windows 7 actually was, so they are hit and miss. I had to do several reinstalls of the audio drivers to get everything working.
Other Thoughts: As an aside, this card uses 4-pole audio connectors (i.e. there are only three plugs to carry the audio channels so two of the plugs are a not-so-standard 4-pole config). Thus, to go to my Gigaworks 750 which has FOUR inputs for the 7.1 channels, the card uses a specialized cable because the Xtremegamer only has THREE outputs. I've had a problem with one of the cable bits and sometimes lose a channel until I wiggle the cable just right. Would LOVE to find a replacement cable, but Creative, of course, does not sell this item to go between THEIR two products. Anyone know where to get them?

Constant crashes in win 7 w/ games

Pros: Sounds good
Cons: This card does not play very will with Games in Windows 7. I get 5-6 BSOD's per day while playing games. I never got a BSOD before installing this card.
Creative Labs support is very lacking. They told me to chance the PCI slot, which did nothing, duh! Then they asked for a dxdiag and a hardware listing, but then never followed up.
Personally I think that the problem lies in the fact that the only drivers for this card date almost 3 months before Windows 7 shipped.
Other Thoughts: When the card is working, it sounds good, but given the fact that it BSOD's while playing games, I would not call this card an XtremeGamer, but XtremelyFrustrating.
