Every computer needs more memory, unless you've filled all your slots. Generally speaking, you always need more. No matter what you have, or if you're building something new, memory is vital. Usually, the more you have the better the computer will perform. Just make sure you have the "right stuff."
Designed specifically to offer mainstream users excellent performance and quality at a lower price point, the A-Data Extreme Edition series doesn't disappoint. It is perfect for those who want great performance but don't want to break the bank.
Keeping that in mind A-Data's 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400 (PC 3200) kit is perfect for adding to the performance and stability of your computer. Running at 400MHz, these modules are already primed for power. Two of these modules will provide such a performance increase that you may not want to remember what it was like before you added it to your system!

DDR500+ sleepers...
- Pros: + Excellent heat dissipation
+ Excellent packaging and shipment(commendations to A-Data and Newegg). + Excellent quality and look(see Other thoughts). + Excellent price vs performance potential(a hundred and forty nine shipped after MIR-see Cons). + Highly over-clockable(see Other thoughts). + Lifetime warranty + Performs exactly as advertised and much more(see Other thoughts).
- Cons: - Lower prices can be found elsewhere, if you are looking for 2GB(4 x 512MB) of entry-level memory. However, if you need 2GB(2 x 1GB) or 4GB(4 x 1GB) and are over-clocking, this product is almost impossible to beat anywhere.
- Small MIR is almost not worth the time and effort. - UPS! Need I say more? - Extreme voltage(~3.2) is needed to operate @DDR400/2-4-4-8. However, it is not designed nor specified to operate as such and will probably become unstable. It will operate @DDR333/2-2-2-5 and lower, with increasingly tighter timings and minimal voltage, though.
- Other Thoughts: Each module has 2 aluminum-alloy heatsinks(interlocking design) with a brushed, ruby-red finish. The heatsinks are attached with 2 un-obtrusive thermal tapes, as well as 2 retention clips per module. A-Data silk-screened their company logo, model, and/or web address on either side. A-Data also placed an aesthetically small, silver, registery label with the specifications & UPC on each heatsink. Upon installation, they were immediately detected & operating, as specified & advertised. Together, heat production is minimal.
As a pair, the modules were tested at default voltage & CR=1 for 24hrs each using MemTest86+ @ DDR460/2.5-4-4-8 DDR500/3-4-4-8
Overall, this product has a high-performance look, feel, & can operate as such. These modules should overclock higher. However, I'm limited by my motherboards clockgen(250MHz).
-LR Biostar K8NHA Grand Athlon64 3000+ Venice-E6 @ 2.5GHz/1.5V(see my review in Processors) A-Data Vitesta 2GB kit @ DDR500/3-4-4-8/1T GeForce FX5700LE AGP
Great Deal
- Comments: 2 months ago, I returned 1GB of Corsair TwinX memory when I saw it wasn't cutting it for games like FEAR and BF2. I purchased these and dropped them in my DFI NF3 250GB motherboard and they work like a champ. I didn't get to do thorough testing, but my MB picked up the correct timings and memtest found 0 errors after 7 passes throughout the night. I can't wait to play some games this holiday break. I am pretty happy w/ this purchase.

Awesome Upgrade
- Pros: Very well made RAM, nice heat dispersion as well. I upgraded to this from 512MB, and man did I see a major performance playing Half-Life, or World of Warcraft. Although, I am using a 5 year old computer, with Bus speed restrictions on this junk motherboard, it is definitely faster than my previous memory.
- Cons: Nothing!
- Other Thoughts: Although it's Pink colored, It gives a great Heat Disperser on top of its low cost!
Worked Great
- Pros: Plugged it in. More memory equals better working system. Everyones happy.
- Cons: N/A
- Other Thoughts: Good memory and a good price.
My second set
- Pros: Put a set in my Dell Dimension 3000 to breathe some new life into it a while back. I was so impressed with the RAM that I ordered this set for my fiancee's Dimension 3000. Single most important upgrade done to either comp. They plug in and work without a hitch. Nice to get heatspreaders at this price point too. I just can't beat A-Data's price and quality.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Plug it in and forget about it. Enjoy the new speed and efficiency of your comp. The heatspreaders look really nice if you're into that sort of thing.
