The description mentions your face showing through an open beak. In relatity there is no hole in the beak so you are breating the air around your head in the mask. You see through the black parts of eyes and through slits in the eyebrows of the mask. The eye holes are very close together, so most adults will likely primarily use the eyebrow slits to see.
