Ever wanted a engine that can run off the heat from your coffee cup, hot water, or even a warm surface? Originally conceived in 1816 by Robert Stirling. Like toys that are hard to explain and amazing to watch? Like precision pieces of equipment that are beautifully engineered? Love science? Want a gift for the person that has everything? If so, you will want a Stirling Engine. The engines offered are fully assembled and not a kit, you will not find a precision Stirling Engine for a lower price. These are the low temperature versions of a Stirling engine that can run off hot water from a coffee cup, heat from a router, and so on. I have had these run while sitting in the sun at street fairs. Stirling engines operate by using an external heat source rather than an internal heat like a normal engine. The easiest way to use them is to get your normal cup of coffee in the morning, put the Stirling engine on top of the coffee cup, give it a slight push to get it going and as long as the surface is hot, it will continue to run. These are precision pieces of equipment but are finally available at an economical price.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful and Interesting Working Model

Pros: Finely made and completely functional.
Very educational - all parts are clearly visible in operation.
Very nicely machined and finished - almost an art piece.
Fits perfectly on a standard-size coffee mug.

Cons: Delicate - Handle with care! Small, precisely balanced parts, some made of glass.

Other Thoughts: I am very impressed with this piece. Best value for quality in a working model of this kind I have ever purchased.

5 out of 5 eggsAll it did is hypnotized me...

Pros: I thought it would be fun to grab this, improve efficiency, attach fan blades, and enjoy a light breeze on hot days.

Cons: I made the mistake of running it before modifications were made. It hypnotised me to go online and leave positive reviews about how awesome it is to watch and how beautiful it is (which is pointless).

Though it succeeded in making me give it five stars, my will power overcame the need to say stupid things about spending $90-$150 on something to watch while my coffee gets cold.
