When they arrived, they weren't packed in additional boxes. They were sent through the post in their shelf boxes, which didn't survive the trip. A lot of the box had been torn off and missing. Surprisingly all the parts were there and luckily, nothing was damaged. As for the boats, my recently retired in-laws LOVE them!
